  2.
  3. >You wipe the sweat off your brow as you head back home to Carousel Boutique.
  4. >The extra hours of work have been strenuous, but it's all worth it for your new daughter on the way.
  5. >Rarity has been glowing lately and since she's a seamstress, she's still been able to work.
  6. >The little bit of savings that the two of you worked for is going towards the baby's new nursery.
  7. >You've already cleared out the room and it shouldn't be too much longer until it's complete.
  8. >The idea of walking her to school everyday puts a stupid grin on your face that you can't wipe off.
  9. >Excited to see your wife, you jog home.
  10. >When the carousel is in sight, you wonder if you should grab something for Rarity.
  11. >Her cravings have been crazy lately.
  12. >You wouldn't DARE mention what it's doing to her figure.
  13. >However, you wouldn't have it any other way.
  14. >You open up the door with an proudly proclaim into your home.
  15. "Honey! I'm Home!"
  16. >"Daaarling! You wouldn't BELIEVE the great news I had today!"
  17. >Rarity comes galloping into the room and leaps into your arms.
  18. >Wait.
  19. >What?
  20. >"Hoity Toity came by and said he wanted to fashion a brand new line in Manehattan by none other than ME! So I've been spending all day working on some new concepts that I KNOW they would just DIE for!"
  21. >She leaps off of you and giggles like a schoolfilly.
  22. >Rarity hasn't had this sort of energy in months.
  23. >"OH! That reminds me. I took our little savings and used them to get two tickets to Manehattan for the weekend of the fashion show. It's such a MARVELOUS opportunity, I'm sure you wouldn't mind."
  24. >The pit of your stomach drops.
  25. "O-our savings?"
  26. >"Well I mean it's not like it was being used for anything really important. Plus I knew you would support the decision that would help me reach my dream! To be a top fashion designer in Canterlot!"
  27. >She looks towards the ceiling with stars in her eyes and confidence in her step.
  28. >Your fists ball up and you feel yourself losing your temper fast.
  29. "Rarity. I earned that money for our child."
  30. >The stars quickly leave Rarity's eyes and they dart from side to side.
  31. >"Oh... right."
  32. >She turns away from you and carefully inspects the train tickets.
  33. "What the hell is that supposed to mean? Did you just FORGET that you were pregnant? I mean I'd imagine that you couldn't just GIVE UP everything we've worked for our little girl. How could you just forget about Amethyst!?!"
  34. >"Amethyst?" she asks quietly but flatly.
  35. >You take a step back.
  36. "Well. Yeah. I mean, I know we didn't decide on a name yet... but I thought it would be perfect. I mean, a purple gem."
  37. >She turns slowly and sets the tickets on a table.
  38. >"I... thought you might understand."
  39. >You rub your face with your hands.
  40. "I understand that this is a great opportunity for your career and I'm happy you decided to follow it babe, but I just wish you would have talked to me about it before you jumped the gun. I'm sure we can work it out. As long as you don't go into labor on the trip, then we'll be fine. Who will be modeling it?"
  41. >Rarity's face sinks and her eyes trace the grooves of the tile floor.
  42. >"I am."
  43. >You look up at her, curious.
  44. "You are going to be modeling it? Is it a pregnancy line? That's a weird-"
  45. >"She's gone Anon."
  46. >The room goes silent, and you feel a knife in your throat.
  47. >Breathing becomes excruciatingly hard.
  48. "What do you mean." you ask with fear.
  49. >"I got rid of her Anon." says Rarity, her voice beginning to break.
  50. "No."
  51. >You pace the room and you feel your body heat up.
  52. "No."
  53. >Tears come to your eyes.
  54. "No. I'm going to pretend that you didn't just say that. That you didn't just say... what I thought you said."
  55. >"It's the truth Anon... I need to look-"
  56. "HOW FUCKING DARE YOU?"
  57. >You scream at the white unicorn, who begins to gently sob as you verbally assault her.
  58. "THAT WAS OUR CHILD. A LIFE. OUR FLESH AND BLOOD. HOW COULD YOU GO DO THIS WITHOUT EVEN THINKING OF-" you stutter and your voice breaks. "I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY TO YOU."
  59. >Stomping out of the room, you head upstairs to the nursery.
  60. >"Anonymous..."
  61. "Shut up."
  62. >You open the door to the nursery.
  63. >Rarity picked out the color herself, a gentle violet that wouldn't make the room too dark at night.
  64. >There wasn't much in there, Rarity didn't have many shower guests, but the one item of importance was the crib.
  65. >You picked up the wood yourself and went to the local carpenter for instruction.
  66. >Each piece of wood was hand cut by yourself so that there wouldn't be a need for screws.
  67. >You sanded each individual piece for hours on end until there was no chance for splintering.
  68. >Lastly you hand painted every detail by brush with a custom varnish that would match the room.
  69. >In the middle of the room, it sits proudly.
  70. >New dresses and cut fabric hanging off the side of it.
  71. >The entire nursery became Rarity's workspace for her new project, the walls being covered in blueprints of new designs and color swatches pinned side by side.
  72. >The room, once filled with toys and stuffed animals, is covered in Rarity's fashion.
  73. >You step inside as if you were exploring a room you never knew existed in the house.
  74. >"Anon."
  75. "What... did you do..." you ask, defeated.
  76. >"Anon... I'm-"
  77. "How could you just do this and get over it in just... hours."
  78. >You fall to your knees in front of the crib, running your hand up the smooth wooden frame.
  79. >"Anon... I thought you would support what I wanted."
  80. >Running your hand down the wood that you painstakingly sanded, gotten countless splinters and bled over.
  81. "What you wanted?"
  82. >Slowly you stand up and turn to face her, fear overcomes her face again.
  83. "I thought this..." you extend your arms to the room, "was what WE wanted."
  84. >Rarity opens her mouth, but can't manage to make a sound.
  85. "We agreed we wanted to have a little one. Together. We tried HARD to scrimp and save to make this work. The doctors said we might not even be able to make this work and you are telling me... that I should be supporting what YOU wanted."
  86. >"Anon-"
  87. "WELL WHAT ABOUT WHAT I WANTED! HUH!?! IF YOU WON'T THINK ABOUT US, WHAT ABOUT ME?"
  88. >Taking one of the many dress, you toss it to the ground and the unicorn closes her mouth, tears in her eyes.
  89. "BUT OF COURSE NOT. IT'S NEVER ABOUT ME. IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT YOU AND YOUR FUCKING LIFE. YOU FUCKING SELF-CENTERED BITCH."
  90. >Rarity breaks down into full sobs.
  91. >"Anon... I'm so sorry! I wasn't thinking! I just saw the opportunity and thought-"
  92. "Well you fucking thought wrong."
  93. >You walk out into the bedroom and grab a bag along the way.
  94. >Ripping out the clothes out the drawers, you throw them haphazardly into the bag.
  95. "Fucking Element of Generosity my ass. I can't believe this."
  96. >You stifle a wave of sadness and tears and shove your belongings into the bag harder.
  97. >Maybe Twilight could put you up for a night or two.
  98. >Zipping the bag so hard that it nearly snaps, you grab the bag and it gets caught on the door.
  99. "God DAMNIT."
  100. >You pull it off forcefully and the door hits the wall, leaving a dent.
  101. >Walking back down the hall, you glance in at Rarity, pulling clothing off of your crib.
  102. >The crib for Amethyst.
  103. >Disgust fills your stomach and she turns to you.
  104. >Her face fills with fear as you head back downstairs.
  105. >"NO! Anonymous wait!"
  106. "I'm done."
  107. >You head towards the door and she sprints towards you.
  108. >"Anon wait please!" she cries out, despair filling her voice.
  109. "No. I'm fucking done."
  110. >She leaps towards you and grabs onto your leg, tears staining your work pants.
  111. >"Please... Anon." Her voice breaks. "I'll do anything... I'm so sorry. Don't go."
  112. >You lean down towards her, mere inches from her face.
  113. "Bring. My baby. Back."
  114. >Kicking her off of you, you open the door and slam it behind you.
  115. >Powerwalking towards the town library, tears begin to stream down your cheeks.
  116. >Your composure begins to break and you shake your head.
