  1. >be Fluttershy
  2. >just moved to Ponyville after saving up enough money to move, buy a cottage, and begin taking care of animals
  3. >settling in to new home until you hear a knock at the door
  4. >it’s the delivery pony bringing you the animal feed you ordered
  5. >”that’ll be 150 bits”
  6. “Oh my, that is a lot. I don’t suppose you would be willing to give me a discount for buying in bulk, would you?”
  7. >he gives you a disgruntled look
  8. “Oh okay…”
  9. >you dig through your purse and begrudgingly hand him the large sum of money
  10. >”thank you, ma’am” he says and begins to unload the animal feed
  11. “T-thanks”
  12. >you look in your purse to see how much you have left
  13. >25 bits
  14. >it’s not much, but at least your new animal friends will be able to eat
  15. >you begin to search for employment opportunities
  16. >you tried pet sitting for a while, but not many residents of Ponyville have pets
  17. >most of the animals you took care of were wild forest animals
  18. >very soon, you realized that merely taking care of and feeding woodland animals didn’t produce much income
  19. >that was 1 year ago
  20.
  21. >unable to afford payment on your home
  22. >you thought it would be a good idea to live out in the forest like the animals you took care of
  23. >don’t have to buy a house
  24. >don’t have to pay for food
  25. >get to spend all your time with animals
  26. >it sounded easy enough
  27. >you were wrong
  28. >it was hard to find shelter
  29. >burrows and caves were all inhabited
  30. >mostly by angry creatures
  31. >this was especially bad in the winter
  32. >food was harder to find than you originally thought
  33. >most of what you found were wild berries
  34. >many times, they were the ones you shouldn’t eat
  35. >you learned that the hard way
  36. >but the worst part was the loneliness
  37. >there were many animals, but no ponies
  38. >no one to talk to
  39. >you weren’t very social to begin with, but you still talked to other ponies
  40. >this became agonizing over time
  41. >that was 3 months ago
  42. >this is now
  43. >living in a cardboard box
  44. >hooves caked in dirt
  45. >mane is a mess
  46. >haven’t had a proper meal in months
  47. >all you can think about is how you’re going to afford food
  48. >you only have the strength to lie there in your box, hoping somepony is kind enough to drop a few bits in your measly tin can
  49. >you look into your can to see if it yielded any results
  50. >no such luck
  51. >a stallion approaches you
  52. >you look up to him with a pitiful look
  53. “Could you possibly spare a few Bits, sir?”
  54. >He thought about it for a second and grew a mischievous grin
  55. >”Sure I can sweety. But you’re going to have to do something for me first…”
  56. >It took you a few seconds to get it
  57. >When you finally realized what he meant, you blushed and receded into your box a bit
  58. “N-no, I couldn’t…”
  59. >”Really? Not even for 20 bits?”
  60. >He stood there, jingling the coins in his hoof
  61. “N-no…”
  62. >”How about 30?”
  63. >You considered it for a brief moment
  64. >There’s no way you sunk that low
  65. >”N-no, please go…”
  66. >”Whatever. Bitch…”
  67. >He grumbled as he walked away
  68. >You thought about it for a while as you sat in your ”home”
  69. >You were hungry
  70. >Very, very hungry
  71. >Maybe you should…
  72. >With your shaking hoof, you shamefully scribble onto the side of your box
  73. >5 bits hoof job
  74. >10 bits fulltime
  75. >20 bit anything
  76. >Within a few days, you began receiving your first customers
  77. > It was shameful work
  78. >You felt cheap
  79. >You felt used
  80. >You felt ashamed
  81. >But at least you could afford to eat every now and again
  82. >And you managed to stop yourself from crying (too much) while you preformed your “job”
  83. >But there were times when you couldn’t help it
  84. >Some stallions liked it rough
  85. >They left marks
  86. >Scratches, bruises, and sometimes worse…
  87. >But there wasn’t much you could do about that
  88. >They paid, and you needed to eat
  89. >You began to regret moving here
  90. >You wondered if things would have been better if you stayed in Cloudsdale
  91. >You would still have a home
  92. >You would still have food
  93. >You would still have friends
  94. >But more importantly, you would still have self-respect
  95. >Your thoughts are interrupted by a stallion approaching you
  96. >He drops 20 bits on the ground in front of you
  97. >You sigh heavily
  98. >You hated when they chose that…
