Shawn reversed a hammerlock by running up the ropes and twisting in midair before whipping Liger to the mat with an armdrag. Liger reversed a wristlock by sliding between the ropes, wrenching Shawn's arm over the top as he re-entered, and hooking the other into a half nelson, keeping the hold on until the ref got to 4. At that point, he released the hold, but struck Shawn with a hellacious shin kick to the chest as The Heartbreak Kid extricated his arm from the rope. Liger hit the ropes, and Shawn went for a Sweet Chin Music, but ate a rolling Koppu Kick instead! Liger didn't let up on the downed Michaels, as he intertwined their legs for the Romero Stretch! He grabbed Shawm's wrists, and pulled once, pulled twice, and on the third try he got Shawn up!

Shawn writhed in agony as Liger punished his already weakened arms before pulling him down further, into a Dragon Sleeper! Shawn writhed and slithered, before he finally got one of his legs unhooked and used it to free the other one. However, he was sill fading fast in the Dragon Sleeper. He tried kipping up once, twice, and on the third try wrenched himself up and backward to the ropes, breaking the hold! Shawn slipped out of the ropes to the outside of the ring to regain his composure. As he stayed there, catching his breath, Liger played to the crowd with bombastic superhero poses. Shawn finally re-entered the ring at the count of 8, and immediately locked back up with Liger. A headlock from Liger got reversed into a hammerlock got reversed into a wristlock got reversed into Shawn hoisting Liger up into a fireman's carry, only to get rolled up in a Crucifix pin!

1...2, Shawn reversed into a clutch of his own!

1...2, Liger reversed into the Dragon Sleeper, but Shawn got back to his feet before Liger could totally lock it in, hoisting Liger up with him into suplex position! he dropped him down while turning 180 degrees, nailing him with a Falcon Arrow! He didn't stop there, kipping right back up to his feet and running up the turnbuckles before hitting the diving elbow drop! He almost went for the cover, but slowly shook his head before going to the corner and tuning up the band. 1...2..., a 1...2...3...4.. Liger was up to his feet, and Shawn went for the Sweet Chin Music BUT ATE A SHOTEI PALM STRIKE! Shawn collapsed back into the corner, and Liger, still somewhat staggered, went to the opposite corner. He revved himself up, heaving his right arm and right leg up as if pulling his own ripcord, and barreled into the corner with a Koppu Kick! Liger got back up to his feet just in time for Shawn to fall out of the corner, right into Liger's arms as he set the Heartbreak Kid up for the Ligerbomb! He got him up, dropped him down, and made the cover!

1...2...2.9, Shawn kicked out before scrambling to the ropes and falling out of the ring. As he staggered back to his feet, Liger hit the ropes before flying out of the ring right into Shawn! Mean Gene is apoplectic at the commentary desk.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE ARE FLOATING IN SPACE! I CAN'T SAY I'VE EVER SEEN SUCH HIGH-FLYING EXPLOITS IN A WWF RING!"
"I CAN'T EITHER, GENE! THEY'RE BURNING IT UP LIKE OKLAHOMA BARBECUE! BAH GAWD!"

Liger and Shawn were both in a heap on the outside. Liger was the first to get up to his feet, but Shawn wasn't far behind. Liger tried to whip Shawn back into the ring, but Shawn reversed, trying to whip Liger into the post. Liger was too canny for him, though, and jumped onto the apron. Liger ran across the apron towards Shawn and went for a leaping crossbody BUT ATE A SWEET CHIN MUSIC INSTEAD! Shawn rolled Liger back into the ring and went for the cover.

1...2...3. Shawn wins. This was fuckin' something. Both men looked excellent and put on a show. This could have rivalled either of the Owen/Austin matches if it were on PPV.
