  1. Taking suggestions for a better name for this story!
  2. Also not sure if there's anything else I want to change/add/remove, let me know if you have any suggestions on the matter.
  3.
  4. >This was it.
  5. >The last orb was destroyed.
  6. >Here you stand, atop a massive pillar of obsidian, staring your target down as he lines up for another pass.
  7. >This narrow tower was tall; taller than any other in this void, yet there was never any cross-breeze. No wind and no noise whatsoever, and that was always an uneasy feeling.
  8. >You didn't like this place, and you were glad that your time here was mere moments from being over.
  9. >The dragon lined up and began soaring in your direction once again.
  10. >This time would be his last. He has no way or regenerating, and you've already damaged him enough.
  11. >An arrow finds its way from your bag and into your hand, where you ready it on your enchanted bow, pulling the string back and waiting for the dragon to be within range.
  12. >Luckily, these idiots always fly at you in a straight line, so it just makes the job that much easier.
  13. >When he's within range, you let the arrow loose. It soars through the air, carrying with it the power enchant of your bow, until it hits its mark.
  14. >This dragon has taken many arrows to the head today, but this would be the last.
  15. >The moment the arrow strikes, the dragon stops in its path. Small explosions begin occurring around the beast as it raises in elevation and nears its demise.
  16. >Eventually, it stops moving, the explosions now turning into a bright light emanating from the core of the dragon and only getting brighter.
  17. >You always thought this was really weird, the way these dragons died. But after you'd taken down a few of them, you stopped thinking much about it. It's just the way this crazy little dimension works.
  18. >Before you knew it, the dragon vanishes, spitting out all sorts of delicious glowing orbs, all littering the ground below and ripe for the taking.
  19. >Using the crude cobblestone path you made to scale this obsidian pillar, you make your way down to the ground and begin collecting your spoils of victory.
  20.
  21. >After acquiring the bulk of the orbs, you turn your attention to the new portal sitting on the ground nearby, directly under where the dragon was slain.
  22. >Only, this portal looked a bit different than what you were used to.
  23. >It was more colorful, even looked a little more- high resolution. Needless to say, that was mostly a foreign concept for you.
  24. >But this portal was your only way out of this void dimension, and you weren't about to stay here on this uninteresting island that was full of over-sized teleport-happy screaming assholes.
  25. >The colorful doorway before you was your only option. The other side couldn't be any worse than this place, right?
  26. >Time to find out. Without much hesitation, you take a step forward and drop into the portal.
  27. >At first, you see the usual darkness. Nothing out of the ordinary yet.
  28. >A few seconds pass, and... color. A lot of color. Many more colors than you're used to.
  29. >Soon, everything begins to take shape and light up.
  30. >Once again, you have arrived in a fresh new world, but- this was different. Very different.
  31. >It was... curvy. There were no blocks, everything was wavy, and incredibly well detailed and colorful.
  32. >But... you were still blocky. Your old, boring, blocky-green, pathetic excuse for a human body.
  33. >That's not all though...
  34. >Your fucking inventory was wiped!
  35. >It's empty! You don't have anything!
  36. >...Well, at least this means another fresh start, right? And in a world like this, that can't really be a bad thing, can it?
  37. >Hmm. Might as well take a look around.
  38. >It doesn't take long to spot a small hill nearby, so you take the liberty of walking up to the top to have a look around.
  39. >Mostly level land in the general vicinity, plenty of trees and open fields. There was a small river running nearby, and it looked like it led to-
  40. >Oh, jackpot!
  41. >That village is HUGE!
  42.
  43. >Oh yeah, the villagers there are bound to have all sorts of things you can take to help get started in this world; especially crops!
  44. >Getting an early start with wheat, carrots and potatoes would be amazing.
  45. >Seems like this world won't be so bad after all!
  46. >This village was much more defined than the tiny block-houses you were used to seeing, and even better, it seemed to be on the edge of a rather dense forest.
  47. >As you approach, you can spot movement in various locations. Must be the villagers.
  48. >Only... they weren't human like you; hell, they weren't even bipeds, but that's all you could really tell from this distance.
  49. >This is just getting weirder, but you press on nonetheless.
  50. >Hey, you never know, maybe these villagers actually have personalities? Maybe they can even hold a conversation with you!
  51. >That would be by-far the best new addition you'd ever seen after coming to a new world. People that can actually fucking talk, instead of just 'hey, give me some of the most rare gem in existence and I'll give you some bullshit you don't need!'
  52. >Yeah. Screw those guys. All they did was run around, forget how to use doors, then get turned into zombies whenever you left for a while.
  53. >Your train of thought is broken when you hear some rustling nearby; the sound of something walking over leaves and sticks.
  54. >It was a... horse?
  55. >Sure looked like one anyway, just smaller. Maybe more of a pony? Yeah, that's probably more accurate.
  56. >It definitely wasn't a normal pony though, oh no. This thing was all yellow and had a pink mane. A beautiful mane at that, as if somebody had been styling it every day.
  57. >That was kinda weird. But not as weird as the colored brand on its flank, that was... butterflies? What the-
  58. >Before you can even toss a stray thought at that in your head, you notice it also has wings.
  59. >Yep, keep getting weirder.
  60.
  61. >It hasn't noticed you, which is probably a good thing. It doesn't look hostile, which is also good.
  62. >But what was its purpose? What kind of goodies would it drop if you pummeled it right now?
  63. >Maybe it could be tamed, like a wolf or a lynx?
  64. >But what would you need to tame it?
  65. >These thoughts are starting to excite you.
  66. >A new world already filled with all kinds of new things, this should finally make for an interesting adventure, with some new challenges and things to discover.
  67. >Oh yeah, you're all about having new shit to do!
  68. >You begin casually walking toward the yellow pony, who had kneeled down to the ground and stuck its face into some hole.
  69. >What the hell...
  70. >No matter. As you get closer, the creature seems to pick up on the sounds of your movements.
  71. >It sticks its head out from the hole and stands up before turning around and spotting you.
  72. >Getting a look at the face, and giant wide-open eyes staring at you, you got the feeling that it was a female.
  73. >She stared for a couple seconds before leaping into the air and letting out a loud 'EEP' sound before darting off toward the village at ludicrous speed.
  74. >Huh. Maybe it is like a lynx then? Still pretty strange though.
  75. >Oh well. Time to check out the village and see if you can find it.
  76. >As you look over in that direction however, you notice more of the four-legged creatures.
  77. >Actually, now that you think about it, they look just like the one you just scared off, and even close enough to what you thought you saw from the hill.
  78. >Could these be the villagers?
  79. >...naaahhh, that's just dumb.
  80. >However, as another winged pony makes its way to you from the village with great haste, it becomes clear.
  81. >It had a light blue coat, complimented with a ridiculous rainbow colored mane and tail.
  82. >This one also had a brand on its flank, but it was of a colored lightning bolt coming from a cloud.
  83.
  84. >"What in the- just what the heck are you anyway?" it asks as it flaps its wings and stays airborne just a few feet in front of you.
  85. >Judging by the voice, she was also a female.
  86. >Wait... voice?
  87. "You can talk?"
  88. >She flinches back slightly, but quickly resumes her defensive yet curious posture.
  89. >"You can talk?"
  90. >...really?
  91. "Uh, well I think we've established that. So, do your uh, people, inhabit this village?"
  92. >"Wha- people? We're ponies. And yes, this is our town, and it's called Ponyville."
  93. >Ponyville? Hmm... Well, at least they can properly communicate, and their village has a name, so you're off to a good enough start.
  94. >"Okay I answered your question, now how about mine? What are you, where did you come from?"
  95. "I'm a human, I guess."
  96. >"You guess?" she asks, raising an eyebrow, "What kinda answer is that?"
  97. "Let's just go with human. And I came from another world, maybe another dimension, just minutes ago. I'm used to traveling to fresh new worlds, but this is different."
  98. >"Uh-huh," she says, obviously struggling to wrap her head around the concept, "So does that explain why you're so... blocky?"
  99. "Uh, yeah, probably. The worlds I come from are all blocky, like me. This place, though. This is just weird."
  100. >"You think this place is weird? I don't even wanna know where you came from!"
  101. "Ha, yeah, you probably don't. So what is this place then?"
  102. >"This is Equestria!" she exclaims with rising enthusiasm, "And behind me is the best little town around. As long as you're friendly, I'm sure you can get along fine with everyp0ny. You are friendly, right?"
  103. "Sure, yeah. You're like the first intelligent creature I've ever actually spoken to, so I won't be of any threat to you."
  104. >"Uh- wait, are you serious?"
  105. "Unfortunately, yeah. And no I don't wanna talk about it."
  106. >You look away for a moment as she raises an eyebrow at you.
  107. >"Huh, okay then, change of subject..."
  108.
  109. >She pauses for a couple moments in awkward silence before asking another question.
  110. >"So, you said you came from another world right? You know that doesn't just happen every day around here. Plus I've never seen anything like you before, so you're gonna have some explaining to do."
  111. "Hmm, fair enough I guess. In the worlds I typically travel though, it's pretty common to create portals to other dimensions, and eventually, new worlds. They're usually mostly the same though, until now of course."
  112. >"Okay, that's just a little, uh- crazy. I'll have to have you talk with Twilight, she might actually know something about that. Follow me."
  113. >When she finishes, she turns around and begins heading back toward the town.
  114. "Sure thing, this place looks really nice. The villages from my worlds suck."
  115. >The pony giggles at your comment and motions for you to follow her.
  116. >"Oh, I didn't get your name." she says as you continue walking toward the village.
  117. "Um... Call me Anonymous. What about you?"
  118. >"Anonymous huh? That's pretty boring. I'm Rainbow Dash, fastest flier in Equestria!"
  119. >Rainbow Dash? Did she just say her name was... Rainbow Dash?
  120. >Ha. That's a bit ridiculous, but you'd say it does kind of fit her.
  121. >Not ten steps later, Rainbow Dash stops flying, again getting in front of you and giving you a somewhat defensive look.
  122. >"I almost forgot why I even came out here! Why did you scare off Fluttershy?"
  123. "Fluttershy? Oh, was she the yellow pony?"
  124. >"Yeah! She flew into Ponyville with her tail between her legs faster than I'd ever seen her fly before!"
  125. "Oh, sorry, didn't mean to. She was the first, uh- pony, that I'd seen, I didn't know if she was intelligent or just some random animal."
  126. >Rainbow Dash squints her eyes, staring directly into yours, as if to try and tell if you were being truthful or not.
  127. >After a few moments, she stops glaring at you and chuckles.
  128.
  129. >"Fair enough, she is kinda skiddish anyway. You might want to apologize to her though."
  130. >Rainbow turns back around and begins floating her way back toward the village.
  131. > Apologize huh? She must be a sensitive one.
  132. >You were heading toward an edge of the town that bordered the forest, where there seemed to be an especially large tree.
  133. >Hmm, yeah, that thing could provide plenty of wood for a large starting house.
  134. >As you get near, another pony trots around from the other side of the tree and begins moving in your direction.
  135. >This one was purple, with a mane and tail that was... also purple, just different shades.
  136. >She also had a horn on her forehead, and no wings. That's... odd, to say the least.
  137. >"Hey Twilight, I guess Fluttershy told you what she saw huh?"
  138. >Twilight?
  139. >"Yeah," she answers, not shifting her gaze from you, "What is it anyway?"
  140. "I'm a human and my name's Anonymous."
  141. >"Whoa, you can talk!?" she flinches back just like Rainbow did.
  142. >"Uh, yeah Twi, we already went over this. He's from another world or something, but he's also friendly."
  143. >You simply nod in affirmative.
  144. >The purple one; named Twilight from what you've gathered, eyes you up and down for a moment.
  145. >"Why are you so- blocky?"
  146. "Everything is blocky where I come from. I could ask you why you're not blocky, but it won't get me anywhere."
  147. >"Uh-huh, well, that's an interesting way to look at it, but I think I'm going to have to study you, find out where it is you came from and why you're like that."
  148. "Study me? We barely just met. What's the point anyway?"
  149. >Twilight acquires a look on her face that almost tells you she's been offended.
  150. >"Whoa man, tread carefully," Rainbow Dash chimes in, holding back a laugh.
  151.
  152. >"What's the point!?" Twilight asks in a raised tone of voice, "Science, of course! I take pride in learning as much as I can, and you're a new intelligent creature from another world, which makes this the perfect opportunity to discover all sorts of things that nop0ny has ever known before!"
  153. >She has quickly turned from aggravated at your question to excited about studying you. Oh boy...
  154. "Ugh, fine, if it'll make you happy. But I want to be able to do my own thing too ya know."
  155. >"Yes!" she says, mostly under her breath, as she clops her front hooves together. That's how they clap you guess?
  156. >Okay, she's too excited.
  157. "Ahem." you clear your throat.
  158. >Thankfully this gets her attention and she calms down.
  159. >"Oh, sorry, heh. What did you want again?"
  160. "I don't want to stay in this village all the time, I want to be able to explore and do the things I like to do."
  161. >"Oh well that's not a problem. But you shouldn't explore alone, especially in the Everfree Forest there, that place is really dangerous."
  162. "Dangerous huh? Neat. I'm used to going out and fighting monsters by myself though, so don't worry about me."
  163. >"Whoa, hang on," Rainbow Dash interrupts, "You fight monsters?"
  164. "Yeah. Mostly skeletons and zombies, but sometimes other much more dangerous things. It's just part of every-day life in the worlds I come from."
  165. >"What!? That's awful!" Twilight says, "But that is NOT every-day life in Equestria, monsters don't just roam the lands freely here you know."
  166. "Oh... Huh, I guess that's a good thing, but that means it could be boring around here... Guess I'll have to make my house next to this forest then."
  167. >"Make your house?" Rainbow asks, "Like... You're going to build your own house?"
  168. "Yep. And since it looks like your sun is going to be setting soon, I should probably get to work so I can have it done by nightfall."
  169. >"Wha- You can't be serious," Twilight says in a somewhat joking tone.
  170.
  171. "Totally serious, I do it all the time. Building a basic house is easy, I'll just need some wood."
  172. >"Anonymous, nop0ny can build a house in an hour, even a full day." Rainbow adds, obviously not convinced.
  173. "I'm not a pony Rainbow," you respond as you approach the large tree.
  174. >That comment seems to have thrown her off a bit.
  175. >Oh yeah, this tree will do fine.
  176. >A couple gasps are heard from behind you as you begin furiously punching the massive tree.
  177. >"Anonymous, what do you think you're doing!?" Twilight asks with a hint of worry in her voice, as Rainbow Dash just starts laughing.
  178. >Good, you can see the cracks start forming in the wood.
  179. >Twilight walks up next to you, first looking at the tree, then raising an eyebrow to you.
  180. >"Doesn't that hurt? Why are you doing this?"
  181. "Nah, it's fine. This is normal, trust me."
  182. >Just as you're done speaking, a perfect cube of wood breaks from the tree, which you then pick up and show to Twilight.
  183. "See? Normal. Just need to do this for a little while and I can start making some tools and a house. Simple."
  184. >Twilights eyes widen at the sight; same with Rainbow Dash, who hovers over to get a closer look.
  185. >"My house!" Twilight shouts as she peaks into the opening you just made in the tree.
  186. >Oh, wait...
  187. >It's hollow...
  188. >And there is definitely a house inside.
  189. >Well, shit.
  190. >"Why did you do that!? And how did you do that!?" Twilight asks in an angry and annoyed tone.
  191. "Crap, sorry, I didn't know this was a house. And I told you, this is normal for me. This is how things work in my world, I guess some of those physics followed along with me or something."
  192. >As you say that, her horn begins to glow a purple color as an aura of the same color surrounds you.
  193. >You feel yourself lift off the ground and moved back a couple yards before being dropped back on the ground and the aura removed.
  194. "What the- was that magic?"
  195.
  196. >"Of course it was magic! Are you saying what you did wasn't magic?" she asks, still aggravated.
  197. "What? That wasn't magic at all, I told you that's how things work in my world. Now if you want, I can put this back and fix it for you."
  198. >"You think you can just set that block back in the hole and it'll be fixed? It's going to take-"
  199. >Before you let her finish, you step forward and place the block of wood from where you took it.
  200. >It immediately sits into place right where it was, leaving no cracks or lines to indicate that it was ever removed in the first place. It even reformed its bumpy and curvy shape along with the tree.
  201. >"What in the-"
  202. >"Whoa."
  203. >Both of the ponies are awestruck at the sight. Honestly, you are too, you were starting to suspect that things would work different in this world. But you're kind of relieved that it's not the case, it'll at least make building and crafting things easy.
  204. "Huh. Neat. See? It's fixed, no worries."
  205. >"But- how-"
  206. "Don't worry about- Twilight, was it?"
  207. >She slowly nods her head, still attempting to comprehend what she just witnessed.
  208. "If you hang around me, you're going to see a lot of that. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to find some trees over in that forest that aren't inhabited by ponies."
  209. >With that, you begin walking away to the nearby forest. You think they called it Everfree?
  210. >They also said it was dangerous. Ha, as if that ever stopped you before.
  211. >Before you even make a few steps of progress, Rainbow Dash shows up at your side, casually floating along at the pace of your walking.
  212. >"You know I can't let you go into the Everfree Forest alone, right?" she asks in a serious tone.
  213. "Really now? Well, guess I can't say no to having somebody tag along that I can actually talk to."
  214. >"So you like having somep0ny to talk to huh?" she responds, a little playfully if you could call it that.
  215. "Sure, it's not like I get to have a conversation with anybody very often. Or ever..."
  216.
  217. >"Ever? Are you actually alone in your world or something?"
  218. "Uh, kinda. There's other humans, just not very many. And every single one of them only cares about trading mostly useless shit for super rare and valuable gems. They don't really talk much."
  219. >"That's so... weird, it doesn't make any sense. Why does your world even exist if you're the only intelligent po- uh, person? What do you even do?"
  220. "I can't really answer any of that Rainbow Dash-"
  221. >"Just Rainbow is fine. Or Dash, whatever."
  222. "Okay, Rainbow. I don't know why any of it exists, or why I exist. I know what I'm capable of doing, and what I need to do to survive, so that's what I do."
  223. >"That's... do you ever think about, you know... giving up?"
  224. "Not really. I'm not even sure if I can actually die to be honest. But I always feel this weird presence, like there's something that always tells me to press on, keep fighting and building and exploring. So, that's what I do."
  225. >"Okay, now it's getting ridiculous. You can't be serious... Right?"
  226. "It's not as bad as you might think. I don't really have a problem with it, I mean it's been fun. But I guess I can see why you might think it's crazy, considering how different your world is."
  227. >"Uh, yeah, I don't think the word crazy is enough."
  228. "Heh, maybe not. You know, it's possible that the feeling I've always had to keep moving forward was because of this. Maybe it was there to make sure I would find this world, where I might be able to have a meaningful existence."
  229. >"That's pretty deep Anonymous."
  230. "You can call me Anon if it makes it any easier ya know."
  231. >"Fine, Anon." she responds with a giggle, "So, you think that's actually true then?"
  232. "Impossible to say at this point. I'm just going to do what I'm used to and see where life takes me in this place. Speaking of which-"
  233. >The conversation had kept you busy until you arrived at the edge of the forest.
  234. >You approach the nearest tree and start punching away at the center of it.
  235.
  236. >"I gotta see this," Rainbow says as she hovers up next to you, a curious yet excited look on her face.
  237. >Within a few seconds, a perfect square block of wood dislodges from the tree, separating the top from the bottom.
  238. >This is nothing new for you, so you begin working on the next section of tree above that.
  239. >"What the-"
  240. >Continuing to punch the tree, you turn to look at Rainbow Dash, who's eyes are wide at the sight.
  241. "What, did you forget already?"
  242. >"Wha- No, how the heck is that tree floating in the air!?"
  243. "Hmm?"
  244. >You mostly ignore her as the next block of wood drops into your hand. As there's now a big enough space, you jump onto the stump of the tree to give yourself enough reach to clear the rest of the upper half.
  245. >"There's no way that isn't magic!"
  246. >Oh boy, here we go.
  247. >"Twilight?"
  248. >Sure enough, the purple horned pony came trotting over, completely in shock at what you were doing.
  249. "Sorry Twilight, no magic here. This is one of those things that's normal in my world, not my fault if some of the physics from there followed me over." you say without even glancing at her, focusing on the task at-hand.
  250. >"But- No, there's just no way! This isn't physically possible!"
  251. "Twilight, if you think that's bad, you've seen nothing yet. Just let me gather the wood I need and do my thing. You'll see."
  252. >"What? No, this is insane! You're defying the laws of physics and you tell me it's normal!?"
  253. >"Whoa there Twilight, calm down! He said he'd let you study it, right?"
  254. "Yeah, I did. Give it time and I'm sure you'll get your answers. I'll even leave half a tree up here for you if that helps."
  255. >You don't notice because you're still punching away at the tree, but Rainbow shoots a glare at Twilight.
  256. >Finally, she seems to agree and calms down a bit.
  257.
  258. >"Alright, fine. Do your thing Anonymous, but I'm going to send a letter to Princess Celestia about this. Since it's late, would you agree to come to my house first thing in the morning?"
  259. "You mean the big tree?"
  260. >"Yes, the big tree..." she sighs and responds sarcastically.
  261. "Sure. You could probably teach me some useful things about this world too."
  262. >"You shouldn't say things like that Anon, you'll never get her to shut up." Rainbow interrupts with a chuckle.
  263. >Twilight glares at Rainbow, but then lets out a little giggle of her own.
  264. >"My house just so happens to be a library, so yes, I can teach you many things."
  265. "A library huh? Guess I know where my enchanting table is going then."
  266. >The looks on their faces bring a smile to yours.
  267. >"Ugh, I'll just ask about it tomorrow. Goodnight guys, don't go punching anyponies houses while I'm gone Anonymous."
  268. >You and Rainbow both respond with some more giggling as you break the last piece of wood on the tree.
  269. >As soon as that's done, you open your bag and arrange the wood into your crafting apparatus.
  270. >Once you got some planks, you arrange them next and make a crafting table, as well as some sticks.
  271. >When that's done, you place the crafting table on the ground and immediately start arranging some sticks and planks on it.
  272. >After just a couple seconds, you produce a wooden axe and pick from the table.
  273. >Equipping the axe into your hand, you begin making quick work of another tree.
  274. >"Uhh, Anon?"
  275. "Yeah Dash?"
  276. >"Where did that axe come from?"
  277. "I just created it, didn't you see?"
  278. >"Wha- you're kidding me, right? Please tell me you're just pulling my leg."
  279. "What have I been telling you and Twilight? Look, I don't know how things work here, but this is how they work for me so I roll with it. If it's a foreign concept to you, then there's nothing I can do to explain it. It just works."
  280. >"Gee, sounds like a unicorns' excuse for how magic works."
  281. >You snicker at the comment.
  282.
  283. "Unicorn huh? I take it that's what Twilight is?"
  284. >"Yeah. They can do magic. I'm a pegasus, which means I have wings and can fly, which is pretty awesome by the way, and there's also earth ponies. They can't do magic or fly, but they're physically stronger."
  285. "I see."
  286. >You didn't want to say anything else, instead keeping your focus on the trees.
  287. >Rainbow doesn't seem to mind as she just sits back and watches.
  288. >Before long, you have a couple more trees down and a few stacks of wood planks.
  289. >Perfect timing too, the sun will be down shortly.
  290. >Yeah, the house was going to be pretty crude tonight, but shelter is shelter. It'll work for now, you'll spruce it up a bit tomorrow.
  291. >Going back to the crafting table, you arrange some planks to create a door as well as a single chest.
  292. >That should be all you need for now, so you pull out your axe and hack away at the crafting table until it becomes bite-size again, before tossing it into your bag.
  293. >Before leaving, you snatch up a few saplings and a couple apples that had fallen from the trees.
  294. >Rainbow Dash seems to be struggling to comprehend what's happening, but decides not to say anything.
  295. "Alright, that's good, let's head back."
  296. >As you're on your way back toward the village, you notice a road leading from Twilights tree to the forest.
  297. >Deciding over there seems like a good spot, you switch directions.
  298. >"Where ya goin' Anon?"
  299. "I figure I'll build this thing along the road there, so it's not directly in your village and also close to the forest where I can easily get more wood and stuff. And you know, being along a road could be helpful later on."
  300. >"Didn't we tell you that forest was dangerous?"
  301. "So? I don't know about this place, but where I come from, normal monsters can't break through walls. I'll be safe."
  302. >Rainbow sighs.
  303. >"Whatever you say."
  304. >As you get close enough to the road and start placing down some wood planks, you notice Rainbow is still with you, just casually watching.
  305.
  306. "Rainbow, you know it's getting dark right? Shouldn't you be getting home?"
  307. >"Home? Pfff-" she chuckles, "Nah, it's not that late. What are ya Anon, scared of the dark or something?" she asks with a smirk.
  308. "Not really, but the worlds I'm used to have monsters that come out all over the place during the night."
  309. >"Really? That must suck. But don't worry, that doesn't happen here."
  310. "Okay, cool. I still want to finish this though."
  311. >"You sure you don't want a place to stay tonight? You know, so you can have a bed and all that?"
  312. "Thanks, but I'm good. I'm used to this, doesn't bother me at all."
  313. >"Ugh, I don't think I'll ever understand you."
  314. >You just chuckle at her response and continue placing planks, creating the most crude little box-house ever.
  315. >At least this wasn't much different from what you're used to. The blocks formed together more nicely though, but they were still blocks.
  316. >Yeah... You gotta admit, blocks like these were going to look like absolute shit compared to what those ponies had built.
  317. >But whatever. You were perfectly content with what you were capable of building, and you knew you could still build something pretty crazy out here if you wanted to.
  318. >Eventually, the shelter is finished, door and all. Really, it only took a minute or two.
  319. >"So, what now?" Rainbow asks, noticing that you were done.
  320. "Well, I need to find some coal first. Why don't you go head home though? I'm just going to be in here for the night, it won't be very interesting."
  321. >"What, don't want me around anymore? I see how it is..." she responds sarcastically.
  322. "Huh? No, it's not that-"
  323. >"Just messin' with ya Anon, it's cool. I'll go over to see Twilight for a bit if ya need me then."
  324. "Sure. See ya tomorrow?"
  325. >"Oh yeah, there's no way I'm missing what she has in store for you tomorrow!"
  326. "Wonderful..."
  327. >Rainbow responds with a chuckle before taking off toward Twilights tree.
  328. >With her out of the way, you can finally get down to business.
  329.
  330. >To be honest, you were surprised that Twilight had actually left. You thought for sure she'd try to capture and strap you to some infernal machine.
  331. >At least they've been friendly though, and they're finally something you can have a conversation with! That pretty much never happens!
  332. >So since they were nice enough to let you move into their town here and leave you alone for the night, you'll grant that unicorn her request. It can't be that bad, can it?
  333. >Well, you've had good luck so far.
  334. >Anyway, that'll be concern for tomorrow. Now however, you need coal.
  335. >And cobblestone. And pretty much everything else.
  336. >You open up you bag and notice a few tree saplings you snatched up earlier. Might as well get those planted and out of the way.
  337. >It only takes a few seconds, heading out of your little shack to plant them nearby outside, then heading back in and closing the door.
  338. >Any of the walls would be a good fit for the chest and crafting table, so you drop those down, placing most of your wood in the chest.
  339. >You leave a single plank and a couple sticks to take to the crafting table, where you produce a shovel.
  340. >Shovel-in-hand, you begin to dig a whole in the dirt beneath your little home, going at an angle to form a make-shift stair-way until you can craft some actual stairs.
  341. >The dirt and stone here look so much different, but they break and drop just like they did in your old worlds, so it doesn't really bother you.
  342. >You're hoping that coal is as abundant here as you're used to, so it shouldn't take too long to find some.
