  3. Before reading on, I'd like to thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to read this letter. It's been almost three months since I was last on the server, and I realize that by now I'm likely not that well remembered by anyone but my friends. They have kept me in the loop as to the goings on of the server, as while I may be no longer a part of the community, I still take a great interest in it and will continue to do so.
  4.
  5. As to the reasons for my being banned from the community, I won't go and defend myself. With these few months having gone by, I've had plenty of time to think about the circumstances that lead to what had happened: from the abuse of Teamspeak names, to the first appeal (originally meant to be unbanned from Teamspeak) written while I was angry, to the final ban from everything. Jokes are all well and good when tasteful, but public environments such as teamspeak are not the place for the more raunchy or disrespectful jokes: certainly not for any that denigrate any specific group of people, as that was most definitely not my intent.
  6.
  7. I should have stepped back and taken a closer look at what exactly I was trying to defend when I made that first ban appeal. I was angry and ticked off when I wrote it, and not only was I defending my misdeeds but I was also disrespecting the staff of the community, those who have made great pains to create and maintain the server that so many enjoy.
  8.
  9. And so many do enjoy the server. Back in 2013 I joined the community to roleplay on DayZRP during the Mod days, as I wanted to actually be able to play a fine-looking zombie game in the company of other players. The fact that it was also a roleplay server further increased the hopes that the server would be a good one.
  10.
  11. It was, too. For months I played on the server, making friends and getting myself into interesting situations that would only spur on more creative development of not just my own character, but of others as well. There did come a point when I stepped away from the community, though, as while I did enjoy mt time there were other things that caught my interest.
  12.
  13. Fast forward to 2015 and once more I'm a part of the community, and once more a stranger. I played on the server for a little bit, but didn't immediately form a connection with anyone. It wasn't until a chance meeting with one player on Teamspeak that I really got to experience DayZ SA roleplay, and from then on I had a blast. I made friends, I made enemies (in character only, of course), and I became a part of the community.
  14.
  15. I don't judge myself to be the best roleplayer out there, but I do feel that the company I kept while on the server speaks somewhat for my ability. My associations that I've made with my character have also become the associations I've made as a person, and my friends in-game have become my friends in real life.
  16.
  17. I don't think of myself as a naturally malicious or hostile person, but I do admit that I have faults, and that I've made plenty of mistakes. It's taken a few months to realize what exactly those mistakes have cost me, and it only shows to go that the old adage "you don't know what you got until you lose it" is true even in this modern age.
  18.
  19. If by chance I happen to find myself once more in the community, even if only on a trial-basis, I'd make the most out of my second — and last — chance. By "making the most out of" I don't mean simply jumping back onto the server and continuing where I left off, but rather take my time in getting acclimated to a community that has likely changed much during my absence. Being part of DayZRP is a privilege, one that I'd be honored to have once more.
  20.
  21. For good or ill, I look forward to your reply.
