1. Welcome to Fire Emblem General! If you post a question that is answered here I will stab you in the dick -RB
2.
3. >Which game should I play first?
4.
5. If you've never played FE before, Fire Emblem 7, also known as just Fire Emblem, contains a great tutorial and is an excellent introduction, and has a very balanced difficulty. Fire Emblem 8 (The Sacred Stones) is easier than the others, due to opportunities to grind, excellent units, and (generally) weaker enemies. Fire Emblem 11 (Shadow Dragon) is also recommended because of its barebones structure that is easy to grasp.
6.
7. After you play FE7 and 8, you should be good to play any of the others.
8.
9. >What is FE# about? Is it good? Should I play __? Here are the general thoughts on each FE:
10.
11. FE1: Ankoku Ryu no Hikari no Tsurugi(Dark Dragon and Sword of Light) – NES
12. A game that hasn't aged well. Read: FE3
13. FE2: Gaiden - NES
14. FE2 is a very non-standard Fire Emblem, the first to feature the world map, branched promotion, third tier promotions, non-standard weapons and villages. The story concerns two separate armies and alternates throughout the story. Despite being very non-standard, Gaiden is still a fun game to play. Gaiden takes place in the same world as FE1 and happens after its events, but is completely separate.
15. FE3: Monshou no Nazo(Mystery of the Emblem) - SNES
16. Also hasn't aged well. Both FE1 and FE3 have been largely made obsolete by FE11 and FE12. Better graphics and somewhat improved gameplay, and also the fact that it’s on DS and not on a very limited NES helps it as well. FE3 is separated into two books: The first is a remake of FE1, the second is its sequel.
17. FE4: Seisen no Keifu(Geneology of the Holy War) - SNES
18. Great story, good gameplay, difficulty can disappear in the second half of the game with good decisions in the first half. This game is actually pretty incredible, the maps are immense and intense and the game has good music. A very solid FE game.
19. FE5: Thracia 776 - SNES
20. Good gameplay, and a large amount of difficulty. The lord in FE5 is mediocre, and that tends to add difficulty. The translation is not very well done, but it has a few interesting game mechanics not seen in other FE games. The story line is dependent on FE4, so play that one first.
21. FE6:Fuuin no Tsurugi(Sword of Seals) - GBA
22. On the difficult side of games, the true end is easy to miss and the only Lord is mediocre. Most of its difficulty comes from the game playing much dirtier than the GBA sequels and your own units being easy to screw over with bad levels.
23. FE7: Fire Emblem (Blazing Sword) - GBA
24. Great entry point. Good balance of gameplay and difficulty. Prequel to FE6. Has an extensive tutorial that is great for beginners.
25. FE8: The Sacred Stones - GBA
26. Very easy, but still fun, making it another good entry point. Branching promotions and two distinct storylines makes for good replay value.
27. FE9: Path of Radiance - Gamecube
28. Good characters and gameplay, but very easy. The main lord is very strong in comparison to the FE5 and FE6 lords and most in general.
29. FE10:Radiant Dawn - Wii
30. FE10 is a direct sequel to FE9. Very good gameplay, consisting of the largest cast of playable characters, and the longest (in terms of chapters) FE game yet. Large amounts of replay value, but no supports and a questionable storyline are points of contention.
31. FE11:Shadow Dragon - DS
32. Generally disliked due to sparse story and dated gameplay. A remake of FE1. Although slightly improved, still hasn't aged well. Gaiden(extra) chapters require you to kill off your own units, which is very counter-intuitive and a large point of contention with the game. However, the lack of extra mechanics from later games also makes it simple, and can be a good place to start.
33. FE12:Shin Monshou no Nazo (New Mystery of the Emblem) – DS
34. A sequel to FE1(FE11), a remake of FE3 Book 2. Allows you to create a character "My Unit" to insert into the game to traipse about with Marth. Improved features over FE11 include added conversations, and very difficult lunatic and reverse lunatic modes. They earn those names. After FE11’s terrible reception, FE12 was not released outside of Japan. Thankfully, a group of fans translated and created a patch.
35. FE13: Awakening – 3DS
36. The newest game in the series, and the biggest combination of the older games’ mechanics. Skills return, and Supports go to an S level, the player once again gets to make an MU, and marriage and children return from FE4. Additional characters and bonus chapters have been added through SpotPass and DLC. Out in Japan, Confirmed for a February 4th, 2013 release in North America and an April 2013 release in Europe.
37.
38. >IS FE12 TRANSLATED? GIVE ME NEWS
39.
40. The FE12 Translation has been finished! The most recent patch as of this edition of the pastebin is in the game compilation, in addition to the old menu patch. It has a few minor bugs, but overall a good job.
41.
42. >I WANT MORE NEWS ON FE12
43.
44. heroesofshadow.net
45.
46. >My unit just died! ;_;
47.
48. Unless you restart the chapter, they're gone for good. Death is permanent.
;_;7
49.
50. >How do I get supports?
51.
52. Hoo boy. Just leave two compatible units directly next to each other(not diagonal) for a set amount of turns, the amount of turns differs based on the characters. You can't get supports in Lyn Mode for FE7(the first 10 chapters)
53.
54. >When is Fire Emblem: Awakening coming out?
55.
56. It's out in Japan, has been confirmed for a 2013 release in both in NA and EU. It will be out in NA on February 4th, 2013, and April 2013 for EU.
57.
58. >How is my character looking?
59.
60. Go to Serenes and look at the averages.
61.
62. >Which hack should I play?
63.
64. Elibian Nights and FE Girls are the best in story and gameplay respectively. Gheb Saga if you're in middle school.
65. TactHack is a hack in process, written and designed by /feg/. It notably features a playable Tactician and a lot of dirty tricks that add up to make one of the harder GBA Fire Emblems.
66. FE6-8 all have several hacks that also try to fix balance issues or simply make it harder.
67. Feggot Emblem fixes a few problems and makes the three games all disgustingly hard. (If you play FE7 Feggot Edition you need to go Lyn Hard Mode.)
68. The FE8 Rebalance tweaks the game to give both you and your enemies a much more equal chance, and a FE7 Rebalance is in the works.
69. Onmi has made two hacks for FE6: One simply lets Roy promote after chapter 16 so he’s not dead weight, and his Rebalance completely reworks the game to add some characters, chapters, true Canto, and combines the Route Splits.
70.
71. >What hack is this?
72.
73. It's probably FE Girls.
74.
75. >In Fire Emblem Girls, how do I-
76.
77. Stop. Check at http://lensterknight.superbusnet.com/other/Hacks/FE8%20Girls/ before you say a word.
78.
79. >Where can I get this ROM/hack?
80.
81. The compilation download.
82.
83. >I wanna make my own hack!

93.
94. >What units should I use?
95.
96. Use the characters you like. The games should be beatable using whoever.
97.
98. >What is a "Nuzlocke Run"?
99.
100. Its simply a run of a given FE with varying restrictive rules, the most common being a blind run, but always including no restarts when a unit dies. Super Doofus popularized Nuzlockes with his blind-no-restarts run of FE6, and his poor tactical decisions and bad luck were a great source of comedy.
101.
102. >Fire Emblem Girls keeps crashing at this new chapter.
103.
104. Mash Start every time you finish a chapter.
105.
106. >What is with the "Professional Motherfuckers" thing?
107.
108. Someone made a hack where Wallace referred to Kent and Sain as such.
109.
110. >What does Affinity affect?
111.
112. Affinity affects the stat bonuses characters receive from Supports.
113.
114. >Can I deploy all of my units?
115.
116. No, sire.
117.
118. >... WHY NOT?
119.
120. No, sire.
121.
122. >Where's that awesome Let's Play of FE1?
123.
124. http://shaym.in/fe1/lp.html
125.
126. >What is with you guys and being HUGE?
127.
128. Huge isn't just a status, it's a state of mind. You don't become huge by wearing all the armour, but you must have the correct attitude to be able to do this properly, so it is a good start.
129.
130. No, huge is more than just what is on the outside. Huge is when you look at the world, the legions of foes, and all the weapons the enemies possess, and say, "No." When you have reached the point of not giving a single fuck about anything the enemy can throw at you, you are well on your way to being huge.
131.
132. This is why tiny Dragonstone users can be considered huge. They are tiny on the outside, but on the inside, they are truly as huge as the hugest generals.
133.
134. >That last paragraph was pretty boring/tired/trite
135.
136. Yea we know. Basically HUGE is just a unit(usually a general) with very good stats. Its a bit of a tired joke, and is a point of contention in FEG threads.
137.
138. >/FEG/ THREADS ARE/HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SHIT
139.
140. Sucks
141.
142. >Can I be a pretty /feg/asus knight?
143.
144.
If you believe.
