You don't h-have to use it

Barbaracle is one of the most threatening one-turn setup sweepers in the Overused tier by virtue of Shell Smash. Its defenses and resistances allow it to set up in many cases, and it can use its boosts to wallbreak or sweep. Barbaracle has a useful STAB pair and good coverage moves, and its Attack and Speed are just good enough to work with Shell Smash. Note that a boosted Barbaracle is not strong enough to single-handedly beat bulky and stall-oriented Pokemon, e.g. Mega Venusaur and Skarmory. A boosted Barbaracle can beat all Choice Scarf users below base 108 Speed. It struggles against priority as well. Finally, Barbaracle is very predictable since Shell Smash is its only viable set.
