X7 OST Short Story

Prologue ~ Ougon no Hibi “The Golden Days”

Additional story connected to the opening movie sequence.

“Hey, why’d you let him go?”
Pouting as a selfish child would, Axl put his token Axl Bullets into the holster. Meanwhile, Red examined his deathscythe . He would not use it this time, but being the military man that he was, he constantly checked his blade. Seeing the green light from it glowing in his hands, Red decided it was working normally, put it away, and with that, turned to Axl..

“What….does it upset you?” he said. After looking in the direction the Irregular escaped to, Axl ran up to Red, and replied:

“ Well yeah~ but! He’ll just cause more trouble! Once a repliroid becomes an Irregular, your only choice is to hunt it!”
“Well then, I will hunt it.” Red then rested his hand on Axl’s head

“That’s why we’re bounty hunters! Isn’t that right?” From his angle, Axl looked up into his mentor’s missing eye. Red could feel nothing there. Even so, Axl knew that Red was smiling.

We get in Axl’s head now:
“Red has a reason why he fights the Irregulars so unforgivably, but me…why, why do I hate them so much..? I don’t know. Maybe there is a reason, somewhere in my lost memory? Maybe there’s something I can’t see, or maybe there was nothing there in the beginning at all? But something, one thing, glittering like a star in the dark night sky, is there…the repliroid…X. Why do I have so much admiration for him? And why do I get this strong feeling that we’re somehow connected…and in what way? Do I hate the Irregulars because of him? As always, I never get any answers. The most important things are always hidden in the dark.”

“Hey! Are you coming along?”
Axl looked up, and Red already began to walk away.

“Hey wait up!” Axl noticed he had stopped in the darkness, and then started running to catch up Red.

“ Point RD-13-29. The virus program ‘Sigma-02’…quite the illegal thing.” Ariquick had just cracked some shady negotiations. Ariquick was old, but he was skilled at interfering with cyberspace affairs.

“That kind of protection is worthless…the fool thinks he has the perfect plan—Oh ho ho ho…” An image of the targeted repliroid showed up on the console. A cigar like-thing sticking out of his ugly mouth, one could say without any doubt that he was no good. Once you saw his face…you could never forget it. It was the Irregular ‘Cedar’, the one who had gotten away earlier. Axl then realized that they had decided to let him go that first time, so that they could see what he was going to do next.

Watching over a map with Cedar’s coordinates, Red mumbled…
“Well Axl, it sure looks like it’s gonna be a real party tonight.”

They arrived at point RD13-29…a special re-development area. A big colony fell long time ago….then everything was destroyed….but the area had since then recovered from the damage. Red and Axl stood on the hill where they could see the developing area…waiting for the right time to strike. Axl was completely enthralled. The moment right before all the action was always so strangely fulfilling. His excitement and tension actually made him very comfortable. Perhaps that was the reason for his existence? To hunt? Perhaps Axl admired the blue repliroid because he could see his own real personality coming out when in pursuit of an Irregular.

“Let’s go…. you ready?”
Axl’s thoughts again:
“It came from Red’s own mouth. Now, I have a friend…Red is here, and he and I are a team…the Red alert is my home and where I belong. And as long as Red is here, my golden time will go on forever."

Red said now I have a team and the Red is here. The Red alert is the place I exist. As long as Red is alive my Golden Time will be continued forever.”

So many thoughts running through his mind…Axl stopped.

“I’m ready anytime!”

The two hid in the dark, but neither of them had any idea that the success of this mission would catch the attention of a certain reploid.

The end of Axl’s golden days were coming to an end…the winter stealthily creeping in.


PART 3
CAPCOM INTERVIEW

This is the story of how Axl was born. I was planning on making a new character since I started this development. It was very hard to decide the details in the characterization and then only half a year ago…we decided to make this new character. We have to have some freshness (new) & also it has to be accepted by the Rockman X fans. I was so careful to this point, because of my effort, everything was done very well. Axl's trademark is the scar on his forehead. This scar was put on Axl's head at the very last moment. (You can see the X7 Special Site). There are no scars on the original design to tell you the truth….I forgot to order to have the scar included in Axl's character design. At the time we were almost finished with Axl's character design, I said …..

"Oh…oh…I forgot about Axl's scar!"

I was so sorry for the designers, but after the X7 story….when it comes to Axl, the scar on his forehead is probably the most important thing about him. I asked the designer to put the scar in the most outstanding place on his forehead. As for the gun…we decided to set the copy shot immediately but it was very hard to implement this design. In the game you can't really see it well, but we did the gun design again and again anyway.

"I bet you're not getting all this stuff I am talking about…..ha,ha,ha!"

So I put in lots of time and effort. I feel that Axl is my adorable child. Please give your love to him.


INTRODUCTION OF MAIN CHARACTERS

(#1 Axl's Default Settings)

A repliroid who lost his memory. Red saved him and included him as a member of Red alert and he was doing a good job, but then he met Zero…then his goal was to be an Irregular Hunter.

"I just followed the memory I lost!"

Maybe X and Zero are related to him before he lost his memory? Axl's special talent is his copying ability. He copies the DNA Core Data of Repliroids….( Mechaniloids). He can transform immediately using the DNA Core Data. What is the purpose of this unbelievable ability?

(#2 Red's Default Settings)

His background is not known. He was in the Repliforce, but after the Repliforce War…he retired. But this is just a rumor… and no one knows if this is true or not. He never talks about his past, especially about the day when he adopted Axl-and will not even tell Axl himself. He does not talk about the eye that he lost. There is no hierarchy in the Red alert, because the Red alert Syndicate consists of those who were attracted to Red's charisma. Their name became quickly famous to the people who were part of the underground and working…but this recognition also caused their worst, most powerful opponent to recognize who they were. This is the beginning of the tragedy of the Red alert.
