- alright so running with the 'abstract fire emblem' concept
- - the fire emblem isn't an item, but rather a title
- - essentially anyone with a drop of divine dragon blood can be eligible to wield the title
- - through the ages, it has been passed down through the ruling family
- - the first fire emblem made a pact with a divine dragon, as a symbolic gesture of peace and good will between humans and dragons; essentially, it was a merging of souls (so this person and the dragon became the same being, unto a god i guess?)
- - here's the thing: the fire emblem itself is actually the merged spirit of these two beings, and it passes down to new vessels, who then take on the title of fire emblem themself
- - people can LOSE the title of fire emblem if a more eligible candidate is found; this generally happens when a better-suited vessel is born into the world
- - vessels have a marking/brand somewhere on their body that denotes them
- - potentially other similar types of weapons? (pacts with other dragons, less powerful/potent, strictly passed through bloodlines)
