  1. (07:11:59) Sven_Q45: It´s alive!
  2. (07:12:29) Cheeseness: :D
  3. (07:12:33) BadAsp: Yay!
  4. (07:12:57) ElaineMarley: Have you seen this fanart, so cool: http://paperartichokes.tumblr.com/post/119819436330/guess-its-time-to-face-the-cupcakes-ive-gotta
  5. (07:12:58) Sven_Q45: I´ll miss that intro...
  6. (07:13:09) Cheeseness: So, we're resuming after the mogs have crashed together outside the gates of Loruna
  7. (07:13:28) Cheeseness: Oh wow, that's great, ElaineMarley
  8. (07:13:29) Permafry_42: actually it will be showing the cutscene again
  9. (07:13:44) Cheeseness: Sweet
  10. (07:13:45) Sven_Q45: I hope there will be hexapal fanarts to buy soon.
  11. (07:13:58) Syd: Or rather, we're resuming right before the mogs crash into each other. :P
  12. (07:14:05) Cheeseness: heh
  13. (07:14:18) Permafry_42: great artwork!
  14. (07:14:26) Cheeseness: Sven_Q45: It's not really appropriate to sell fan art
  15. (07:15:02) Sven_Q45: But you can buy other fan stuff.
  16. (07:16:06) Cheeseness: So, how long did people take to play through the Broken Age all up?
  17. (07:16:35) Tinche: hm let's see
  18. (07:16:41) Permafry_42: finally garry wants to grab =D
  19. (07:16:51) ElaineMarley: When I did the speedrun, I realised that giving Alex the fixed radio is optional
  20. (07:16:51) Sven_Q45: Oh I dunno Cheese.
  21. (07:16:52) GameClubFan_787285 [Mibbit@hide-EDADEA90.hsd1.pa.comcast.net] entered the room.
  22. (07:16:54) Tinche: I remember it taking me ~5 hours to do act 1
  23. (07:16:56) Permafry_42: 4.5 for my first time
  24. (07:17:16) Cheeseness: ElaineMarley: It is? Hmm
  25. (07:17:19) Permafry_42: for act 2 i mean
  26. (07:17:24) ElaineMarley: Four hours for Act 1, and I think seven for Act 2
  27. (07:17:38) Tinche: I have 15 hours logged into now on Steam, so that's act 1 + (act 1 + act 2)
  28. (07:17:45) flesk: Took me about 15 hours in total. I took my time with it though.
  29. (07:17:45) Syd: Act 1 was about 4 hours for me, I think
  30. (07:18:20) BadAsp: I think I have 12 hours from playing Act 1 three times, and 13 more from playing Act 2
  31. (07:18:24) BadAsp: So 25 total hours for me
  32. (07:18:29) Permafry_42: gonna show alex's dialogue
  33. (07:18:36) Permafry_42: its really funny
  34. (07:19:00) Cheeseness: I did the first act in 4 hours, and the remining two acts in around 7, so 11 all up for me
  35. (07:19:06) ElaineMarley: I have 11 hours logged on Steam from my second and third playthrough to get all achievements. I played the game on gog first
  36. (07:19:21) Cheeseness: Snap \o/
  37. (07:19:23) Tinche: the hexipal sure is enjoying itself
  38. (07:19:34) Klatuu: I kept wanting Alex to say something like "Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you? "
  39. (07:19:42) Cheeseness: Ha ha :D
  40. (07:20:08) Permafry_42: now to show the space weaver dialogue
  41. (07:20:16) Cheeseness: Poor Space Weaver
  42. (07:20:23) Ratlarva [Mibbit@hide-84547B9B.hsd1.ut.comcast.net] entered the room.
  43. (07:20:27) Tinche: I get the feeling Vella's voice actor phoned it in a little in act 2
  44. (07:20:30) Cheeseness: Hi Ratlarva
  45. (07:20:33) kisak: I got stuck pretty badly in this section, it's pretty impressive how durable these ships are
  46. (07:20:38) Tinche: there were a few iffy deliveries
  47. (07:20:40) BadAsp: "Surely the ship's shields will protect us"
  48. (07:20:49) BadAsp: It is very difficult to say that fast, isn't it XD
  49. (07:21:05) BadAsp: Also "sloppiness is a slippery slope"
  50. (07:21:16) Sven_Q45: I took my time too. But the steam counter. You can´t believe it. According to steam I needed 57 hours for TBOUT 2. :D
  51. (07:21:36) Sven_Q45: I like Jennifer Hale. :)
  52. (07:22:03) Klatuu: Was LOOM an inspiration for Space Weaver? They somehow seem related.
  53. (07:22:11) liorean: Steam counter counts total process active time. And the process isn't always reliably killed, or it's closure reliably detected.
  54. (07:22:26) Anemone [Mibbit@B3FF66D6.BF563452.539F5A7C.IP] entered the room.
  55. (07:22:37) Klatuu: Dutch!
  56. (07:22:38) Sven_Q45: Liorean I know. ;9
  57. (07:22:39) Cheeseness: liorean: Sometimes it changes too. My TF2 hours count went down o.0
  58. (07:22:39) ElaineMarley: I think it's likely the space weaver was inspired by the phrase "fabric of space time"
  59. (07:22:40) Tinche: hehe I missed this joke
  60. (07:22:41) Cheeseness: Hey Anemone
  61. (07:22:55) Anemone: I totally forget again, you guys. Flesk had to remind me.
  62. (07:22:57) Anemone: Mommy flesk.
  63. (07:22:58) Tinche: poor hexipal :(
  64. (07:23:00) liorean: Cheeseness: Never noticed it going down
  65. (07:23:08) Sven_Q45: One of my fav chars: The weaver. :)
  66. (07:23:24) Klatuu: The crying sad faces sounded so miserable. :(
  67. (07:23:26) Anemone: Dutch <3
  68. (07:23:54) Tinche: the spoon > the knife, tbh
  69. (07:24:05) ElaineMarley: Spoon also has different dialogue if you "inspect" him now
  70. (07:24:05) Cheeseness: Yeah, I never really appreciated Dutch much
  71. (07:24:12) Anemone: If I had a knife like Dutch at their age, I would have got kicked out of school for blade-carrying so many times.
  72. (07:24:23) Marykate_Simulation [Mibbit@hide-A3A15A01.hr.hr.cox.net] entered the room.
  73. (07:24:26) kisak: "legacy features"
  74. (07:24:29) Cheeseness: Hey Marykate_Simulation
  75. (07:24:35) Anemone: pfff, whatevs. I like the spoon, but Dutch is way more amusing to me. XD
  76. (07:24:57) Marykate_Simulation: Hey there!
  77. (07:25:06) Permafry_42: i'm a fork fan myself
  78. (07:25:18) CecilRousso [Mibbit@hide-18A662AA.ias.bredband.telia.com] entered the room.
  79. (07:25:25) Cheeseness: Hey CecilRousso
  80. (07:25:45) ElaineMarley: I found Dutch funnier first, but over the course of getting the Spoon Achievement spoon became my fave
  81. (07:25:46) kisak: Okay everybody, time to dance while you wait until you figure out what you're supposed to be doing!
  82. (07:25:47) Anemone: I love the spoon because he's soooo earnest. But I love Dutch because of how confident he is in his own toughness, even when it's misplaced. ^_^
  83. (07:25:53) Cheeseness: Dancing is always the next most logical course of action! \o/
  84. (07:25:55) Tinche: I swoon for spoon
  85. (07:26:05) Marykate_Simulation: Spit-shined and ready for action ....going to put that in my Linked-In bio.
  86. (07:26:08) Sven_Q45: liorean Even the game itself (TBOUT 2) can´t count the time. I started anew. :D
  87. (07:26:13) Marykate_Simulation: :)
  88. (07:26:19) CecilRousso: Yo, cheese!
  89. (07:26:32) GameClubFan_787285 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  90. (07:26:36) Klatuu: It shows a lot of characterization that Shay just calls them "Spoon", etc, but Vella asks what their names are.
  91. (07:27:00) Marykate_Simulation: She should be more sensitive to objectification
  92. (07:27:06) Tinche: the rhombipals!
  93. (07:27:18) ElaineMarley: Nice observation Marykate
  94. (07:27:23) Marykate_Simulation: :)
  95. (07:27:36) ElaineMarley: I love the wild diamond-pals
  96. (07:27:40) Anemone: I like that the pals on Alex's ship are all Lord Of The Flies
  97. (07:27:43) Marykate_Simulation: (Being an offering dressed like a cake had to make an impression)
  98. (07:27:51) BadAsp: they're still cute though
  99. (07:28:20) Marykate_Simulation: ^So true, Anemone
  100. (07:28:24) Anemone: Alex, clean up your room!
  101. (07:28:39) Cheeseness: Alex's diamondpals are great :D
  102. (07:28:54) Sven_Q45: Yes Cheeseness.
  103. (07:28:58) ElaineMarley: lol aww Alex's mom
  104. (07:29:13) kisak: a drum skin that stays taunt for 300 years
  105. (07:29:16) Marykate_Simulation: If only drums could be played with something else... like... Idk... hands? But I know, that's crazy talk.
  106. (07:29:17) liorean: Rhombuspals I called them. A diamond shape to me is not quadrilateral
  107. (07:29:45) Syd: Heh, that Hexipal was like "MUST FIX"
  108. (07:29:47) Tinche: guess rhombipals are like the predecessor of hexipals
  109. (07:29:52) ElaineMarley: Hexipal's hands are tiny, though
  110. (07:29:54) Marykate_Simulation: My tinkering is wired in on a deeper level.... it happens. One copes.
  111. (07:30:04) Tinche: and that's why they worship the hexipal :D
  112. (07:30:16) Tinche: look at it, so cute
  113. (07:30:20) Marykate_Simulation: So many pals.
  114. (07:30:22) Marykate_Simulation: :)
  115. (07:30:30) Anemone: they're mesmerized by his vertices
  116. (07:30:31) Anemone: SO MANY
  117. (07:30:52) Klatuu: What is this manner of being so like us yet so unlike us?
  118. (07:31:37) Sven_Q45: I didn´t know giving the radio to Alex is optional.
  119. (07:31:54) Sven_Q45: But makes sense. You just need it to get the hexapal back.
  120. (07:32:07) Cheeseness: I kinda like optional puzzles
  121. (07:32:18) Permafry_42: i just like the new dialogue sounding like being on a customer support line
  122. (07:32:21) Sven_Q45: Sidequests. :_D
  123. (07:32:23) Sven_Q45: :D
  124. (07:32:39) BadAsp: XD
  125. (07:32:41) Anemone: oh, is it optional? I assumed it was distracting him from noticing me flipping the lever downstairs or something
  126. (07:33:34) Syd: I'm just imagining the person on the other end being a generic customer support person in a cubicle
  127. (07:33:51) Cheeseness: heh
  128. (07:33:54) Klatuu: "Hello. Your Mog is important to us. Please wait on the line...."
  129. (07:34:20) Sven_Q45: I just want to hear that hold music, :D
  130. (07:34:26) Syd: Did you try turning your mog off and on again?
  131. (07:34:29) BadAsp: I would imagine Khris Brown being the voice of the customer service rep at the other end
  132. (07:34:38) BadAsp: Like in the MI2 talkie
  133. (07:34:39) Cheeseness: Heh
  134. (07:34:51) Anemone: GRAAA BLAARGH BLLA RAAAA TWO. [For Moganese, press 2]
  135. (07:35:12) NathanBagelStapley [Mibbit@hide-81259D16.nycmny.fios.verizon.net] entered the room.
  136. (07:35:16) Cheeseness: Hey NathanBagelStapley!
  137. (07:35:21) BadAsp: Bagel!
  138. (07:35:23) Syd: Finally think you're getting somewhere and you get disconnected. Such is customer support
  139. (07:35:25) Syd: Hi Bagel!
  140. (07:35:27) NathanBagelStapley: hello there!
  141. (07:35:27) Anemone: It's da Bagel!
  142. (07:35:29) NathanBagelStapley: hi hi
  143. (07:35:30) kisak: Your 300 year out of spec radio transmission is important to us, please hold for the next operator
  144. (07:35:33) ElaineMarley: Oh, all this dialogue is cool, I've been telling people on Steam forums that Alex getting through to the people of Loruna is one of the reasons they stop shooting at you
  145. (07:35:39) Tinche: hello mr. Bagel
  146. (07:35:49) NathanBagelStapley: hello there
  147. (07:35:56) NathanBagelStapley: you guys are pretty far it looks like
  148. (07:36:08) liorean: Hey Bagel!
  149. (07:36:13) NathanBagelStapley: hello
  150. (07:36:13) Sven_Q45: Hi NathanBagelStapley
  151. (07:36:17) NathanBagelStapley: hiww
  152. (07:36:18) NathanBagelStapley: ee
  153. (07:36:22) Cheeseness: We were just talking a moment ago about the hexipals and diamondpals
  154. (07:36:43) NathanBagelStapley: yeah diamonds is what alex is all about
  155. (07:36:46) liorean: Rhombipals, diamonds aren't quadrilateral!
  156. (07:36:59) Tinche: one more vote for rhombipals
  157. (07:37:01) NathanBagelStapley: whoa thats advanced
  158. (07:37:02) Cheeseness: liorean: They are here \o/
  159. (07:37:42) BadAsp: When in times of crisis, dance! And when that doesn't work, play the harp!
  160. (07:37:46) kisak: I ended up figuring out how to solve remember these wiring patterns without writing them down. I converted them into a 6 digit sequence
  161. (07:37:48) BadAsp: That's what hexipals do, anyway
  162. (07:37:50) Anemone: hexipals more adorable; diamond pals more fun
  163. (07:37:54) Anemone: diamond pals like to party
  164. (07:38:00) Klatuu: When all else fails, grab stuff.
  165. (07:38:19) Tinche: when all else fails, try using everything on everything
  166. (07:38:31) Tinche: oldest trick in the adventure game book ;)
  167. (07:38:33) Anemone: hexipal just gave Alex a TSA pat down
  168. (07:38:44) Sven_Q45: I didn´t write down the wiring.
  169. (07:38:48) Cheeseness: NathanBagelStapley: What was the last piece of art you worked on for the game?
  170. (07:39:17) NathanBagelStapley: i actually think it was the last scene
  171. (07:39:24) Tinche: I used paper to solve the wiring puzzles. I actually like whipping out the old pen n paper a few times during an adventure game :D
  172. (07:39:29) Sven_Q45: Are there more optional wirings?
  173. (07:39:32) Permafry_42: i love the raz easter egg
  174. (07:39:36) NathanBagelStapley: the finale scenes really
  175. (07:39:38) Syd: Haha, I love that
  176. (07:39:42) liorean: Cheeseness: No, just the suite of cards is called that in one of it's names. Actual diamonds are almost never shaped that way
  177. (07:39:46) ElaineMarley: Hi NathanBagelStapley some characters were drawings first (like Curtis) while I suppose others were designed to Tim Schafer's descriptions, could you give examples?
  178. (07:40:05) Anemone: I want to know the origin of the Raz / Bobby Zilch dance XD
  179. (07:40:05) kisak: whoa, where'd that pattern come from?
  180. (07:40:28) Permafry_42: i love it shows the raz googles
  181. (07:40:35) Sven_Q45: kisak Beats me!
  182. (07:40:45) NathanBagelStapley: curtis is the only one i drew but yeah the rest of the characters were pretty much figured out in our art jams and from various artists on the team
  183. (07:40:55) Tinche: I should really finish psychonauts one of these days
  184. (07:41:07) NathanBagelStapley: usually how it worked was scott c would do some sketches
  185. (07:41:14) Anemone: yes you should Tinche =]
  186. (07:41:25) liorean: So many notes!
  187. (07:41:27) Cheeseness: liorean: I'm not sure if the diamond shape is named for the shape of the gemstone
  188. (07:41:29) NathanBagelStapley: tim would pick ones he liked and we kind of tightened them up i guess
  189. (07:41:30) kisak: I got stuck hard in this section, stuck enough to re-discover the dancing wiring and get this achievement
  190. (07:41:47) Tinche: hehehe... (complain)
  191. (07:41:57) NathanBagelStapley: these wiring puzzles are crazy
  192. (07:42:05) Syd: I'm waiting for my Goggalor shirt to ship out right now. Pretty excited to get it
  193. (07:42:06) Sven_Q45: Where´s the raz wiring coming from?
  194. (07:42:21) Cheeseness: It's a rotation of the light waving pattern IIRC
  195. (07:42:29) Cheeseness: I don't think there are in-game clues for it
  196. (07:42:57) BadAsp: groovy
  197. (07:43:05) Tinche: the rhombipals dancing, so adorable
  198. (07:43:32) ElaineMarley: It's not a rotation of anything cheeseness. The pattern for the raz wiring is predetermined, but the closest thing to a clue in the game is the similarity to the dance pattern (all wires starting from one point)
  199. (07:43:51) ElaineMarley: (afaik)
  200. (07:43:58) liorean: Cheeseness: It's named after the suite of cards, which is named after being a gemstone, and diamond was the most glamorous one. But really, it's the ruby that is typically taking that pattern, not diamond
  201. (07:44:05) Cheeseness: ElaineMarley: I've seen solutions for it where it doesn't all start at the same point
  202. (07:44:22) Cheeseness: The times that I've seen it, it's been the light waving pattern rotated
  203. (07:44:34) Klatuu: Why is Dad applying hull patch with his hands?
  204. (07:44:44) Tinche: are the patterns random each game?
  205. (07:44:45) Klatuu: Shouldn't he use a brush or something?
  206. (07:44:48) Cheeseness: Why do his hands pass in front of the support for the thing he's standing on
  207. (07:44:59) Cheeseness: Tinche: Yeah
  208. (07:45:06) ElaineMarley: cheeseness the raz pattern does, there's a chance dancing doesn't, but i'm pretty sure it does
  209. (07:45:13) Tinche: Cheeseness: cool!
  210. (07:45:32) Anemone: nathanbagel: what was your favorite bit of art to do in the game and/or the most challenging/frustrating bit of art you did for the game?
  211. (07:46:07) NathanBagelStapley: i think my favorite was the forest scene
  212. (07:46:16) NathanBagelStapley: cause it was the first
  213. (07:46:19) NathanBagelStapley: perhaps
  214. (07:46:23) Tinche: the talking tree one?
  215. (07:46:30) NathanBagelStapley: but the hardest one was the cloud colony main hub
  216. (07:46:53) NathanBagelStapley: lots of changes going on with that one and it was a challenge to paint the clouds right for a while
  217. (07:46:55) ElaineMarley: cheeseness if you look at the thread on the forum where people share your notes you'll see the 'rotation' thing is not true
  218. (07:47:09) Cheeseness: ElaineMarley: Hmm, maybe you're right. It's possible that other people weren't correct in what they were saying
  219. (07:47:17) Anemone: I got the impression from the doc that getting the composition of the cloud colony hub was a little weird
  220. (07:47:25) Anemone: getting it right*
  221. (07:47:32) NathanBagelStapley: ah yeah we talked about it in the doc
  222. (07:48:31) Cheeseness: This is the forum thread where people have been sharing their notes and scribbles if anybody's interested http://www.doublefine.com/forums/viewthread/16940
  223. (07:48:38) Sven_Q45: Do the raz wiring with the hexagal.
  224. (07:48:51) beansmyname [bean@hide-66FC9128.ftth.swbr.surewest.net] entered the room.
  225. (07:48:56) Cheeseness: Hey beansmyname
  226. (07:48:58) Anemone: I liked seeing all the artists jam at the beginning of the project. Do you guys get together and do that for a lot of DF projects or was that fairly unique to reds?
  227. (07:48:59) Permafry_42: sven definetely
  228. (07:49:08) beansmyname: hey Cheeseness Sorry I'm late.
  229. (07:49:12) Cheeseness: No probs
  230. (07:49:16) salty-horse: Vella must have played a lot of video games in her village
  231. (07:49:19) NathanBagelStapley: yeah mostly every DF project starts with an art jam
  232. (07:49:50) Sven_Q45: Hey! He said it! :D
  233. (07:50:01) Marykate_Simulation: ...ewwww
  234. (07:50:13) liorean: How does the procedure differ between doing an AF and doing a game from scratch like this?
  235. (07:50:40) Cheeseness: Have you participated in many AFs, NathanBagelStapley?
  236. (07:50:41) Anemone: aw man, I'd love to see more of the art jam work you guys have made. Was that your first time jamming with Peter Chan?
  237. (07:50:50) Sven_Q45: More signs of Loom here? Music puzzle and wiring puzzle. Maybe a new adventure game with wiring puzzles... :)
  238. (07:50:51) ElaineMarley: nathanbagelstapley is it just the professional artists that participate in the art jams or do other people who work in other areas but can also draw also participate
  239. (07:51:02) NathanBagelStapley: AF is 2 weeks and we have to make just a small part of a game
  240. (07:51:45) Permafry_42: the instincts ideas are the part of the game i'm still a little iffy towards
  241. (07:51:52) liorean: Bagel - I didn't mean just for the AF itself, I meant a game that starts as an AF and a game that starts as a full game like this.
  242. (07:52:06) NathanBagelStapley: ive been in every AF im pretty sure. yes! first time jamming with Peter Chan like that it was awesome. and its usually employees or the dudes tim knows like scott and peter
  243. (07:52:29) ElaineMarley: It amuses me so much that the Thrushmaster and Spoon have the same voice actor
  244. (07:52:43) NathanBagelStapley: ah i see, na i think it would be pretty much the same, liorean
  245. (07:53:14) BadAsp: DUN DUN DUN!
  246. (07:53:16) Marykate_Simulation: OMG
  247. (07:53:28) Anemone: OH SNAP
  248. (07:53:29) Anemone: SHE TOLD HIM
  249. (07:53:43) Sven_Q45: I knew Levina´s bad...
  250. (07:53:47) ElaineMarley: love how Vella just switches him off
  251. (07:54:07) Anemone: shush, thrush! booya
  252. (07:54:13) salty-horse: are you supposed to guess the wiring here?
  253. (07:54:33) Marykate_Simulation: (Never liked Levina)
  254. (07:54:37) Sven_Q45: That was not the raz wiring
  255. (07:54:38) Syd: The burn marks where the wires used to be guides you, I think
  256. (07:54:41) Cheeseness: People have mentioned it across the previous sessions, but I love the way that everything comes across as being painterly, and each scene could stand on its own as being a static painting
  257. (07:54:53) ElaineMarley: you can based on the burn marks, or you can get mom to reset it for you
  258. (07:55:04) Cheeseness: I never noticed the colours burned in around the terminals (if we're at the puzzle I think we're at)
  259. (07:55:13) Marykate_Simulation: it's constantly beautiful, true Cheeseness
  260. (07:55:13) NathanBagelStapley: cool im glad you think so cheeseness
  261. (07:55:36) salty-horse: oh, I missed the mom thing
  262. (07:55:37) NathanBagelStapley: everybody painted awesomely and the FX work out awesome
  263. (07:55:40) Anemone: Oh yeah, especially when you see the art posted on other sites, like when Polygon did that article recently with the huge wallpaper-sized screens mixed in. Every still from the game looks awesmoe.
  264. (07:55:46) ElaineMarley: i've had the opening split screen as my desktop bg for ages
  265. (07:55:47) Marykate_Simulation is now known as MARYKATE
  266. (07:55:58) NathanBagelStapley: cool
  267. (07:56:16) NathanBagelStapley: im actually painting on canvas a bunch of the scenes now for kickstarter backers
  268. (07:56:27) Cheeseness: I was just about to ask about that :D
  269. (07:56:39) Klatuu: The portraits?
  270. (07:56:55) MARYKATE: (pals are just so relentlessly cute)
  271. (07:57:10) NathanBagelStapley: the portraits are for a different tier 500$ i think
  272. (07:57:31) BadAsp: The Raz dance!
  273. (07:57:44) beansmyname: :D
  274. (07:57:46) Sven_Q45: MARYKATE Yes after Furby and the talking robot dog I want a hexapal. :D
  275. (07:57:51) Cheeseness: Portrait was $1,000 tier by the looks of things
  276. (07:58:08) NathanBagelStapley: ah! i have not looked at the page for a while ha
  277. (07:58:10) Cheeseness: The $5,000 tier included a "Larger original painting of art used in the final game"
  278. (07:58:16) NathanBagelStapley: makes sense though
  279. (07:58:23) Sven_Q45: My portrait of TBOUT 2 is finally ready btw!! :)
  280. (07:58:28) MARYKATE: You can have my Furby... and my old Battlestar Gallactica dog...
  281. (07:58:38) Cheeseness: You'd be painting for a long time if it was $500 :D
  282. (07:58:42) NathanBagelStapley: yeah we originally wanted to paint the thing all on canvas
  283. (07:58:49) NathanBagelStapley: or paper or whatever
  284. (07:59:16) Sven_Q45: @Cheese I f you mean me. Yes it was a mistake that there was no picture of me. :(
  285. (07:59:17) CecilRousso: Spaceweaver is the best. Want him to go rogue in in a sequel.
  286. (07:59:39) NathanBagelStapley: yeah spaceweaver rules Levi Ryken designed him
  287. (07:59:46) MARYKATE: ...I want a pal pillow, Sven_Q45 ...with a big smile I can sleep on and wake up to. :)
  288. (07:59:46) Cheeseness: NathanBagelStapley: I feel like doing it digitally with brushes that emulated traditional media would've sped things up and allowed for revisions to be made with less impact. Would you agree?
  289. (07:59:56) Anemone: Do you sell your other art anywhere, Bagel? I loved all the surreal looking stuff from you when your art samples were going around at the beginning of reds.
  290. (08:00:08) Cheeseness: I mostly do digital stuff, and the ability to undo/erase feels like it makes it easier to be more agile
  291. (08:00:17) Cheeseness: But also easier to be less deliberate
  292. (08:00:26) NathanBagelStapley: yeah that is totally true, also the initial scope changed so much
  293. (08:00:28) Sven_Q45: MARYKATE No thanks for the Furby. But I want a hexapal and a Wonkers (TLJ).
  294. (08:00:30) Sven_Q45: .9
  295. (08:00:34) Cheeseness: Ah, that's true too!
  296. (08:00:53) NathanBagelStapley: originally we probably wouldnt have had FX and many other things.
  297. salty-horse Sven_Q45 Syd
  298. (08:01:25) NathanBagelStapley: i do sell stuff sometimes through a gallery in LA called 1988 gallery, havent shown in a while though
  299. (08:01:29) Cheeseness: I suspect Oliver still would have tried to squeeze in some stuff
  300. (08:01:36) Klatuu: The next game's art should be done entirely through woven tapestries.
  301. (08:01:46) Permafry_42: first the wrong way
  302. (08:01:47) NathanBagelStapley: that would be sweet!
  303. (08:01:49) ***MARYKATE dreams of owning a Mr. Pokeylope plushie most of all.
  304. (08:02:05) Sven_Q45: MARYKATE I have a DOD pillow and a adventure game hero (as babys) pillow from Society6.
  305. (08:02:06) Cheeseness: I'd love to see a series of tapestries that depicted the game's events
  306. (08:02:08) liorean: I remember having pink panther set of bedclothes when I was little. I kind of want Broken Age ones now :)
  307. (08:02:28) Permafry_42: or maybe that works too?
  308. (08:02:30) Anemone: next game don entirely in cross stitch XD
  309. (08:02:34) salty-horse: it's grabbin' time
  310. (08:02:45) Syd: No one grabs like Gary
  311. (08:02:46) Permafry_42: i thought that it was the oppposite order; go figure
  312. (08:03:03) salty-horse: I think the order doesn't matter
  313. (08:03:03) fargetv [Mibbit@hide-E094446F.dhcp.as2116.net] entered the room.
  314. (08:03:04) Cheeseness: NathanBagelStapley: Do you feel like the game has helped increase awareness of your art and/or vice versa?
  315. (08:03:06) Cheeseness: Hi fargetv
  316. (08:03:10) ElaineMarley: It can be done in either order. This is the first time I've seen it in this order though, it's cool!
  317. (08:03:17) Permafry_42: ah well guess all that's left is the cutscene
  318. (08:03:30) NathanBagelStapley: maybe a little cheeseness yeah!
  319. (08:03:32) CecilRousso: The amount of memorable characters is definitely one of the best things with Broken Age. Sace Weaver, Grabbin Gary, Duth, The Talkng Tree, Curris, etc.
  320. (08:03:34) Sven_Q45: Haha with the wrong order I didn´t make it.
  321. (08:03:37) MARYKATE: Sven_Q45 I have my Stacking dolls, some t-shirts from different games, but my gamer swag collection is modest.
  322. (08:04:01) salty-horse: btw, which character was voiced by a backer?
  323. (08:04:03) Sven_Q45: I have some plushies and figurines. :)
  324. (08:04:14) MARYKATE: (Tho, the Stacking dolls are beyond exceptional.)
  325. (08:04:16) Cheeseness: CecilRousso: I think they're all charming and well designed, but I'm not sure if they're as memorable as some characters from Tim's other games
  326. (08:04:16) MARYKATE: <3
  327. (08:04:19) kisak: Rock'em sock'em Vella
  328. (08:04:26) Anemone: the boxin' baker
  329. (08:04:28) Sven_Q45: "I thought you are a baker". haha :D
  330. (08:04:34) ElaineMarley: love the delivery of her line there "Yeah. I can do that too..."
  331. (08:04:34) Cheeseness: "I can do that too"
  332. (08:04:45) liorean: This game needs to go on the Wii U so that we can get Hexipal and Hexigal amiibos
  333. (08:04:50) MARYKATE: damn...
  334. (08:04:51) Permafry_42: that claw reminds me of toy story 3
  335. (08:04:52) Anemone: Did you see the air on shay? Dude should join the NBA
  336. (08:05:23) Klatuu: He went out doing what he loved: Grabbin'. :(
  337. (08:05:24) Sven_Q45: salty-horse Yes Alex was voiced by the baker.
  338. (08:05:25) ElaineMarley: He's got the build for it, tall and light
  339. (08:05:25) Syd: ;_;7
  340. (08:05:30) Cheeseness: o7
  341. (08:05:36) Anemone: GARY HOW WILL WE GRAB
  342. (08:05:38) liorean: And grabbin gary amiibo
  343. (08:05:39) Permafry_42: so we're gonna be showing ALL the credits
  344. (08:05:48) CecilRousso: Cheeseness: I actyualy think think they're more memorable, just my opinion though. I think Act 2 did a lot for that by revisiting and expanding on several characters.
  345. (08:05:51) NathanBagelStapley: good job person who is playing!
  346. (08:05:52) salty-horse: Sven_Q45, nice. did not notice :)
  347. (08:05:53) MARYKATE: Mog Gary Bridge
  348. (08:05:54) Permafry_42: amiibos are my new trigger word
  349. (08:06:01) liorean: I want to see grabbin' gary in Smash bro's
  350. (08:06:05) beansmyname: Permafry_42: mine too
  351. (08:06:07) Permafry_42: trying to get a ness amiibo is becoming a nightmare..
  352. (08:06:09) Anemone: everyone notice all the people in this scene and that they escaped? Just making a note.
  353. (08:06:12) ElaineMarley: I like this music cue :)
  354. (08:06:13) Cheeseness: Poor Gary
  355. (08:06:20) MARYKATE: "That's how I met your mother"
  356. (08:06:25) BadAsp: R.I.P. Gary
  357. (08:06:25) Sven_Q45: lol
  358. (08:06:28) kisak: Warning: newly melted ships may be hot to the touch
  359. (08:06:29) CecilRousso: Gary is a true hero.
  360. (08:06:32) Permafry_42: i love the credits images
  361. (08:06:37) Cheeseness: Yeah :D
  362. (08:06:40) NathanBagelStapley: grabbin gary
  363. (08:06:41) Cheeseness: It's a nice epilogues
  364. (08:06:43) salty-horse: la la la
  365. (08:06:44) Anemone: gary, you grabbed my heart, and now you're gone *sniff*
  366. (08:06:48) Cheeseness: Since when did I get so best at grammar
  367. (08:06:58) Sven_Q45: Cute end sequence.
  368. (08:06:59) NathanBagelStapley: thank those are mine but tims awesome ideas
  369. (08:07:01) kisak: Cheeseness is in these credits, right?
  370. (08:07:02) Sven_Q45: :)
  371. (08:07:03) Syd: Yay, spork baby
  372. (08:07:09) Cheeseness: kisak: Yep
  373. (08:07:10) Anemone: you grammar real good, cheese
  374. (08:07:27) kisak: how many other folks here are in the credits?
  375. (08:07:28) ElaineMarley: What genre of music does hexipal and the diamonds sing?
  376. (08:07:34) beansmyname: So, I'm just dim, but could someone explain the ending? The mogs melt, make a bridge, and all is well? Feel like I missed something.
  377. (08:07:40) Cheeseness: In the piece of art of everybody holding hands on the bridge, it looks like Levina is there
  378. (08:07:41) Klatuu: Square dance.
  379. (08:08:04) NathanBagelStapley: all the people can now live together i think is pretty much the idea
  380. (08:08:10) NathanBagelStapley: tim would answer better though ha
  381. (08:08:13) liorean: There are actually future story events in these ending credits images
  382. (08:08:14) Permafry_42: i hope df makes a 3d hyper crypt game some day
  383. (08:08:14) Sven_Q45: I must figure out the raz dancing...
  384. (08:08:24) Syd: He answered it a while back on Twitter, more or less
  385. (08:08:29) Klatuu: 3D Hyper crypt for next Amnesia Fortnight
  386. (08:08:31) Anemone: it's a complex question to answer in a concise manner, but there are threads on the forum. Tim even typed up a long post in one of them!
  387. (08:08:35) beansmyname: Thanks, Syd. I'll poke around for it.
  388. (08:08:39) Cheeseness: beansmyname: Pretty much, although the implication is that the illusions that kept the two worlds apart have been shattered and the two peoples can get to know each other (which the bridge symbolises)
  389. (08:08:40) NathanBagelStapley: ah cool
  390. (08:08:51) MARYKATE: Gary <3
  391. (08:09:00) Anemone: that's a pretty good way of putting it, cheese ^^
  392. (08:09:01) Sven_Q45: I liked the future picture in the credits.
  393. (08:09:10) ElaineMarley: Where Anemone? Is it just in the backer forum?
  394. (08:09:13) Cheeseness: Ha ha, I wonder if the community will get buzzed about the idea of making 3D Hyper Crypt for the next AF
  395. (08:09:16) Syd: The horribleness of the Thrush was exposed so they lost power, the mog factory was destroyed for good, and the two sides were bridged together
  396. (08:09:18) BadAsp: Hope knitting the yarn pal back together <3
  397. (08:09:25) Anemone: I'll see if I can find the thread with Tim's post. Hang on
  398. (08:09:27) Syd: That's more or less what Tim said, but just going off of memory here
  399. (08:09:32) beansmyname: Thanks Anemone
  400. (08:09:45) liorean: I loved the forum post that explained this game's story as an analogy for the relationship between developers, publishers and self publishing
  401. (08:09:48) Anemone: it might be in the backer only forum, not sure.
  402. (08:10:12) MARYKATE: ^cool liorean ...I want to check that out.
  403. (08:10:16) Sven_Q45: Cheeseness Did you watch the ESC? Eh? ;) The slogan was building bridges too. :P
  404. (08:10:24) Cheeseness: ESC?
  405. (08:10:33) Anemone: Yeah, it's in the backer only forum. If you have access it's here: http://www.doublefine.com/forums/viewthread/16964/P25/
  406. (08:10:44) liorean: ESC=Eurovision Song Contest
  407. (08:10:59) Lightkey: he keeps pretending.. like if you asked about a fourth Indiana Jones film
  408. (08:11:00) Cheeseness: Ah. Here I was staring at the Esc key on my keyboard >_<
  409. (08:11:05) ***MARYKATE was totally a backer... of course. ^_^
  410. (08:11:05) Anemone: I think all of the backer-only threads were going to possibly be made public, though
  411. (08:11:17) Cheeseness: Thanks Anemone
  412. (08:11:28) beansmyname: Well, then I'll wait for that and get the full explanation. Thanks for digging it up, though.
  413. (08:11:31) Syd: It'd make sense to make the backer forum public now, but I guess that's up to DF
  414. (08:11:34) Sven_Q45: Cheeseness lool
  415. (08:11:37) MARYKATE: (Day 1) <3
  416. (08:11:40) liorean: Spaff posted a thread about what to do with the backer forums, somewhere
  417. (08:11:40) ElaineMarley: Yay Shay and Vella, I waited throughout the credits for them to show up :)
  418. (08:12:14) NathanBagelStapley: still in the As
  419. (08:12:23) Cheeseness: So many people
  420. (08:12:28) ***MARYKATE is waiting for the Ms
  421. (08:12:29) Syd: There's a loooooot of names
  422. (08:12:34) Sven_Q45: One of the longest credits even for a kickstarter game. :D
  423. (08:12:40) NathanBagelStapley: crazy
  424. (08:12:49) MARYKATE: ....or the Cs ... jeez I forget
  425. (08:12:53) Anemone: And these aren't even all the backers, just the ones above.... which tier was it? I don't remember
  426. (08:12:54) BadAsp: Here are the B's
  427. (08:13:03) MARYKATE: the Ms ...
  428. (08:13:08) Cheeseness: So these names aren't all 90,000 odd backers
  429. (08:13:18) BadAsp: The C's
  430. (08:13:20) Cheeseness: Only the $100 tier and up included a mention in the credits IIRC
  431. (08:13:25) MARYKATE: ...who are you calling odd
  432. (08:13:25) Permafry_42: I love all the nicknames
  433. (08:13:34) Cheeseness: MARYKATE: You know you're odd <3
  434. (08:13:38) MARYKATE: I'm colorful
  435. (08:13:38) Syd: Yeah, only $100+ backers got their names in the credits iirc
  436. (08:13:46) Syd: So shows you how many backed for at least that amount, heh
  437. (08:13:47) BadAsp: It's okay to be called odd, I don't mnd
  438. (08:13:55) Sven_Q45: Mine was $100. I just didn´t grab that signed poster. Two times the pledge was free again but I was too late! :( :(
  439. (08:14:02) BadAsp: The D's
  440. (08:14:07) Sven_Q45: S
  441. (08:14:09) Cheeseness: I only had enough to back at the $100 tier
  442. (08:14:09) MARYKATE: ...Fine, I am a bit.........
  443. (08:14:19) Syd: I could only do $30 at the time. :(
  444. (08:14:31) MARYKATE: My t-shirt is SEXY
  445. (08:14:35) Anemone: I couldn't back at the $100 at the time, but I totally could now. Happened just a little too early =P
  446. (08:14:36) Cheeseness: I feel a bit guilty though. I got sent a signed poster later on
  447. (08:14:39) BadAsp: E
  448. (08:14:40) Permafry_42: i wish i could have backed $100, i only had 15 at the time
  449. (08:14:42) Sven_Q45: It was my first KS so it was "only" $160.
  450. (08:14:44) MARYKATE: ... ;)

  463. (08:15:48) CecilRousso: Completely underestimated the soundtrack the first time I played the game. It's great.
  464. (08:15:54) NathanBagelStapley: not so much cheeseness i did go to PAX once

  576. (08:25:08) Anemone: guys if Tim gets in here next week we have to ask him to explain the origin of the bobby zilch dance
  577. (08:25:10) Anemone: I HAVE TO KNOW
  578. (08:25:11) Sven_Q45: zilch!
  579. (08:25:25) Permafry_42 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  580. (08:25:30) Syd: Tim would have been able to join this week, but it's his daughter's birthday party today
  581. (08:25:46) kisak: good excuse

  583. (08:25:57) Cheeseness: :3
  584. (08:26:13) MARYKATE: (...Bowzer from Sha-Na-Na but I wouldn't know of such things)
  585. (08:26:19) Sven_Q45: So his daughter has on the same day as Laserschwert.
  586. (08:26:23) liorean: Well, see you guys around, it's past midnight
  587. (08:26:38) flesk: Anemone: I'll try to remember.

  589. (08:26:45) Cheeseness: Have fun, people!
  590. (08:26:49) liorean left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving).
  591. (08:27:03) flesk: Remembering things isn't my most prominent skill though.
  592. (08:27:13) Anemone: me either, as we both learned
  593. (08:27:17) Cheeseness: heh
  594. (08:27:24) Cheeseness: There's a Steam group that fires off events if that's helpful
  595. (08:27:36) MARYKATE: (...1950s greasers hand gesture ===> Bobby Zilch ===> Raz: a brief history of the hand dance taunt)
  596. (08:27:36) Anemone: fortunately I was playing guitar in my computer chair when you popped up, otherwise I'd have missed it
  597. (08:27:41) Cheeseness: (there's only one session left though, so it's probably a bit late to mention it >_< )
  598. (08:28:21) MARYKATE: (^theory)
  599. (08:28:24) BadAsp left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  600. (08:28:40) Syd: If you have a smart phone, could set the session as an alert on the calendar.
  601. (08:28:41) Anemone: oh yeah... I think that nerdy kid does the hand gesture during the We Go Together song/dance bit at the end of grease
  602. (08:28:59) MARYKATE: Yup
  603. (08:29:07) MARYKATE: TOTAL greaser thing
  604. (08:29:19) salty-horse left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving).
  605. (08:29:35) Anemone: Hmm. Interesting theory.
  606. (08:29:38) Anemone: So bobby zilch is a greaser
  607. (08:29:43) Anemone: or his dad is a greaser?
  608. (08:29:49) Anemone: A ginger greaser? XD
  609. (08:29:50) MARYKATE: Or the spawn of ....yes
  610. (08:30:08) flesk: I'm actually that Steam group, but I usually don't notice those events until later.
  611. (08:30:08) MARYKATE: Hence the chip on his shoulder and need to bully
  612. (08:30:14) Sven_Q45: Again: How do you make the raz wiring?
  613. (08:30:17) MARYKATE: Ginger fro
  614. (08:30:24) flesk: *in
  615. (08:30:34) flesk: I'm not a Steam group. :/
  616. (08:30:36) Cheeseness: Sven_Q45: The symbols are always the same, but their locations are scrambled
  617. (08:30:40) MARYKATE: ...Ginger fro sporting greaser spawn
  618. (08:30:49) Cheeseness: You can see people's notes in that forum thread if you want to track it down
  619. (08:30:53) MARYKATE: ...tough life
  620. (08:31:23) Sven_Q45: Cheese It wouldn´t help? Since every playthrough has nother wiring?
  621. (08:31:31) Cheeseness: The symbols are still the same
  622. (08:31:36) Anemone: I wonder if in psychonauts 2, all the kids will be a little older and bobby will have a greaser jacket ^^
  623. (08:31:40) MARYKATE: no grease strong enough
  624. (08:31:42) Cheeseness: Sven_Q45: So you just use the charger to work out which positions the symbols are in
  625. (08:31:46) MARYKATE: haha
  626. (08:32:13) Anemone: bobby's hair is too fro to be greased, but he CAN put one of those switchblade combs in it like a fro comb XD
  627. (08:33:24) MARYKATE: Idk, not sure what the time setting was ...but by Cruller's lab, I'd say it's present day.
  628. (08:33:44) MARYKATE: ...or a little beyond present day
  629. (08:34:11) Anemone: It doesn't have to be greaser era for him to have a greaser jacket. I mean, if it worked for Roger in Doug, it can work for bobby
  630. (08:34:18) MARYKATE: true
  631. (08:34:22) Anemone: roger was a ginger, too, i think. Coincidence?!?!
  632. (08:34:26) MARYKATE: And I saw Drive...
  633. (08:34:44) MARYKATE: ...Oh... good point, Anemone
  634. (08:35:10) MARYKATE: ...Retro classics always come back
  635. (08:35:44) Anemone: *moment of silence for Nickelodeon before it got DisneyChannel-ified
  636. (08:36:12) beansmyname: I'm too old for Nickelodeon to be a thing for me.
  637. (08:36:35) beansmyname: Except maybe Invader Zim.
  638. (08:36:36) kisak: beansmyname: nothing to see here, move along
  639. (08:36:47) beansmyname: moving along. peace out folks!
