PARALOGUE: The Perfect Daughter

LUNA: Oh, there you are, Matoi!

MATOI: Mom! I'm glad you're alright. And yep, there's not a thread out of place on your clothes. You really are Mom!

LUNA: Wow... you've really grown up. You used to look just like Tsubaki, but a little passage of time can bring a lot of change.

MATOI: Huh? What's this all of a sudden?

LUNA: Hey... do you remember when I told you about my mom?

MATOI: Yes, of course I do. You used to tell me about Grandmother all the time, didn't you? The undefeated genius knight who could master anything, right? Just like you, Mom!

LUNA: ...... No, I'm not like her at all. You're the one who's more like her. Your voice, your looks... every last thing about you.

MATOI: Oh!? That's an honor. I'm proud to have a resemblance to such an amazing individual. I'll have to strive for further perfection so I can live up to those words!

LUNA: That's right. We're all counting on you. Well, just try not to get in our way, okay?

MATOI: Thanks, mom. But... I've finished sending the orders, and I'm gonna check up on our weapons storage myself, so I don't think there's anything you really need to do.

LUNA: Really? Well, I can help you take inventory, then. With so much stuff in here, it'll go faster if we split the work between us.

MATOI: Well... uh...

LUNA: Now, let's get started! All we have to do is go down the storage chart and make sure we've got the right number of everything, right?

MATOI: Yes, but... Could you look at this?

LUNA: Hm? S-so this chart, uh.... It's got all the places for everything drawn out?

MATOI: Yep, that's right. If we've got all the equipment laid out where they're marked here, I can check whether we've got everything in no time at all, and then all that's left is to check off the leftovers and I'm done.

LUNA: W-wow... I guess you really don't need any help...

MATOI: Yeah, so there's no need for you to go through any trouble. Go have a seat and maybe a drink of tea.

LUNA: This finesse, this treatment... it's like I've gone back to the past...

LUNA: What is it...?

MATOI: Last time, you said I was like my father... but, I disagree with that.

But, I'm the real idiot here.... Seeing you grow up to be just like my late mother made me feel cynical towards you. But, you and her are different. Completely different... So doing that would be an insult to you, and the person I loved so much. I'm sorry, Matoi. I was trapped in my past, and never tried to see you for who you really are... Could you forgive your mom...?

MATOI: Yes, of course I will. So, don't cry. Don't say that I'm not like you, or any of those sad things anymore, okay?
