  1. It would be handy to have some sort of escape method (self.hcbiosphere)
  2. submitted 4 hours ago by midders (_) [-2]
  3. Today I went to SEES base and was able to get in when chasing one of their members. I hadn't enemied them so I had to stop to /f enemy and couldn't continue to follow them through the maze of doors.
  4. Eventually they came into the area I was trapped in to fight me and I was able to kill 4 of them causing their power to drop below the necessary 10 for the number of chunks they had claimed. This made it particulary annoying to be trapped in their base as they were low power.
  5. I couldn't /f claim becsaue I was in a faction by myself (you need 2 to claim land)
  6. I couldn't /stuck to escape (I tried this even though it's the wrong server)
  7. I couldn't remove their blocks to escape
  8. I told the server that I was trapped and couldn't escape for the above reasons (Isfi_Scorpio was online but didn't offer any assistance)
  9. I asked SEES if they would let me out of the base (they refused but also wouldn't continue to fight me or try and kill me, just wanted to leave me trapped)
  10. I asked other factions if I could join them so I could claim the land, this was refused
  11. I asked anyone to join my faction so I could claim and made my faction open but nobody would join.
  12. I had no way to escape the base so used a door glitch to be be teleported onto their roof and pearl away.
  13. I understand people being annoyed that I glitched but this was to escape a LOW POWER that I was being help in for no reason (they were not going to kill me or trap me).
  14. If this had been hcfactions I could have used the /stuck command to leave.
  15. tl;dr: I tried everything to leave within the rules but was unable to so glitched out
  16.

  20. Hm... You know what? I think I'll deviate from HCF here, and change it so that you can claim land with just one player. It is done.
  21. EDIT: Evidence has been brought to light by grish and A_LION. After looking over this, I have to say - I'm sorry. You are right, midders deserves disciplinary action. However, the fact that it was in part due to my oversight, I will still be somewhat lenient. I am, as of now, issuing a 48 hour ban upon midders. Any other rule-breaking on his part can, and will most likely result in a perma ban. Sorry, everyone.

  26. Kam, What about the fact that Midders took advantage of a glitch to escape. He admitted it, and is one reason Isfi didnt offer help. From day one, the taking advantage of glitches has been strictly enforced. The fact that you have not banned Midders is quite frankly, bullshit.

  31. The main reason that midders was not banned was, well-there are two reasons. Firstly, he had to glitch due to an oversight of mine and Isfi's. Secondly, he did the glitch not to harm, but to help himself. I don't want to see him glitching again, but I'll let it slide.

  36. What happened to zero tolerance? Using the ring to trap midders would have gone until our stuff was returned. And regardless of whether we planned to release him or not, it is a valid defensive stratagey. Do not loop isfi into this, because while it was happening Isfi was in agreement that a ban was necessary, but you have not given your moderators sufficient permissions to defend us. As Admin, I expect you to enforce your zero tolerance policy regarding the use of glitches, and I am extremely disappointed in your lapse in judgement.

  46. Hey uh, so when presented with this evidence, including the person responsible [1] literally admitting that they glitched you say that it was an oversight and proceed to change the rules for the guy?
  47. No offense, but are you fucking kidding me?
  48. First off, [2] you say in your rules themselves that you are against any type of hacking, and that glitching or exploits are bannable. So when presented with a situation when you should probably be enforcing this rule, you instead decide "[3] hmm, no. That was an oversight on my part. Instead of punishing the party responsible for exploiting a glitch, let me just change the rules themselves and pardon him completely! "
  49. This is not how a responsible administrator behaves. This is straight up middle-school-level favoritism at hand here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you've handed out bans (or temp bans, whatever) for glitch exploitation. However, this time, the one time you have multiple people providing evidence including a moderator that you selected, you decide it was all a big misunderstanding? Are you kidding me?
  50. Man, I personally don't care if we ever get our stuff back. I personally hope we don't. Midders played that whole situation fucking masterfully, I mean, he 4v1'd us since we were all apparently dumb enough to not use potions against a dude we knew was going to be using them. The guy deserves what he got (Seriously, not having a faction so people can't just use dynamic map and find you base? That's a genius move, dude. I'm seriously not being sarcastic here, that's pretty clever). What I'm asking is for you to enforce your rules here. You clearly said that using glitches warranted a ban.
  51. I might have to put my foot in my mouth later about this next part, but what this looks like is you playing favorites. What matters here is that: 1. Someone exploited a glitch 2. Multiple people including the accused have proof 3. You refuse to follow through on your punishment, and modify the rules so the situation cannot occur in the future.

  62. IMO, it comes down to everyone here agreeing that I did everything possible to avoid glitching out...
  63. I asked you to let me out, I asked others to join my faction so I could let myself out, I asked to join another faction so I could let myself out, I asked a moderator to let me out.
  64. Kamkam agrees that it was an oversight, a loophole that meant you were able to trap me.
  65. Had it been anyone else on the server in my position they would have been able to get out as you were low power
  66. I was upfront and honest about it from the start and said I was going to have to glitch because a loophole was preventing me from getting out of the base in any other way...
  67. I agree a hack or a glitch should result in a ban but administrator discretion should also exist for situations such as this where the rules have been changed because of an oversight.
  68. Kam said that Isfi should have let me out and the rules have been changed to ensure the same thing can't happen again.
  69. Why do you not think discretion should be used in this situation?
  70. Edit: If I had glitched in order to break into your base and kill you that would be different, I had no choice but to either log off and wait for the situation to be resolved (which would have meant you would have killed me while combat logging) or stand around until kamkam logged into for him to teleport me out

  75. The rules do state that a permaban is necessary during glitch exploition, regardless of the circumstances. In fact, had you waited a few hours to ask, you would've been freed, no questions asked. I am being lenient because you were upfront, honest, and didn't attempt to break any other rules. I'm sorry, but my judgement is, here, final.

  81. To me it makes absolutely no sense that you recognize I had no real choice but to either wait around for a few hours or chose to glitch out, admit that Isfi made a mistake AND even changed a rule so that this wouldn't happen again but refuse to exercises any real discretion.
  82. Essentially you agree that what I did was insignificant, honest and logical but are still going to ban... (presumably as a deterrent to anybody else who plans to be rational, honest or logical).
  83. If I'd lied and pretended that I had gotten out without glitching by saying there was a door or something I'd escaped through we wouldn't be having this conversation now, I know what anyone reading this will do if this ever comes up again...

  88. Look. I will not change my judgement. I also cannot pass over you just because you chose to tell the truth. But, had you not told the truth, had I ended up later finding out, it would be a perm ban, not a 2 day one that you are receiving. I am doing this to exercise my no-tolerance policy, because, if I give those with malicous intent any leeway at all, my server will be shown as an easy target for hackers, greifers, and anyone else. I hope to see you back on within a few days, because I think it's great that we have a PVP focused group of players, and you a big contributer to the community. Until then, my judgement is final.

  105. I am sorry that that is your opinion. I do however ask that you sleep on it, before deciding that you would like to leave this server. We like having you around, and you may see this in a different light tomorrow. Regardless of your choice, thank you for your time here. I hope to see you around the map reset on HCF! 122. I like the way you chose to ignore all of the logical statements and arguments I made, instead deciding to make sweeping statements with no meaning/understanding... suggesting you either didn't read what I wrote or don't posses the mental reasoning skills to process any of it.
  123. The server won't last long when posts like that ^ are favoured over logic. I can see Kam already made his decision so I'll begin ignore your responses unless there is some meaning in one of them.

  133. I see you tried to come up with a logical argument, unfortunately that is entirely my point...
  134. You weren't going to attack me, so you can't say me finding a way to leaving before an admin was there to free me denied you the chance to kill me... you were just holding me there for no reason :-/. It was dumb that you were low power and I couldn't claim you... even more dumb that I couldn't leave.
  135. I give up trying to explain this to you, for whatever reason you are unable to imagine this from the other perspective and realise how dumb it would have been for me to stand around for an hour until an admin could fix it when I was capable of fixing it myself.
  136. Like I said, I give up... I already said I won't bother returning in 2 days when the ban expires. I don't want to play in a server without logic, I only logged back in today after a week or so to see if the population has increased.
