  1. -Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with?
  2.
  3. I love all my cousins and my sister Kyou. We... have a hard time relating with our older family members. When most of them were younger, the family was basically considered highborn. Something changed I guess, and people are suspicious of us now. Out of everyone, I am closest to my sister. I would protect Kyou with my life. We share everything with each other. Although by "share", I really mean she talks my ear off and pokes me until I respond.
  4.
  5. -What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?
  6.
  7. Mom wanted me to be more ladylike. But that's...not really me. Oh, she did squeal for joy when I asked her to teach me how to apply makeup. But then she yelled at me when I didn't use it to conceal my scars and thought I looked like a geisha. Woops. We don't really see eye-to-eye. At least she had Kyou to teach instead.
  8.
  9. -What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?
  10.
  11. Dad and I got along a little better in comparison. He'd always wanted a son, but he got us. And since Kyou wasn't even remotely interested in fighting and whatnot, Dad was overjoyed when I was. I know he still wishes for a son, but he's still proud of my strength, which is something.
  12.
  13. -Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?
  14.
  15. Watching that little Ponyta try to work through its fear of thunder and loud noises was...incredibly inspirational. It helped me learn the differences between people and to appreciate them. My sister has likewise taught me that we should each be true to ourselves because happiness is most important.
  16.
  17. -On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
  18.
  19. Snacks mostly, I guess. Gotta keep my energy up.
  20.
  21. -Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?
  22.
  23. It...sounds a little weird to admit, but in my dreams I have... friends. Not just people I'm related to either. It's hard to find those when your surname is usually used as a swear.
  24.
  25. -Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?
  26.
  27. I...fail to protect those I love. The people...my parents...my cousins...Kyou... I won't let that happen.
  28.
  29. -Has your character ever fired a gun? If so, what was their first target?
  30.
  31. Yup. Though my family specializes in the sword, they can't argue with the results guns manage, so I was trained in it to some extent. Shot a hay dummy. Didn't like it. Too deadly when used for protection.
  32.
  33. -Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?
  34.
  35. We've always been pretty well off, though I hear it was even easier when people liked us. Guess that doesn't matter now that Kyou and I left.
  36.
  37. -Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?
  38.
  39. I mean, I'm not ashamed of my body or my scars or anything. But my clothes are comfy, so like, that's what I wear?
  40.
  41. -In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?
  42.
  43. Kyou and I were running errands in town a few years ago. We'd gotten split up for a bit, and when I found her, she was in an alleyway, crying, with a few thuggy looking guys bearing down on her. I...lost it. It's best we leave it at that.
  44.
  45. -In what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been?
  46.
  47. Looking back on it, I thought I'd be losing my mind while sliding between a dragon's legs, while avoiding its maw and another gargantuan lizard thing, in the middle of a fight. But I knew what I had to do and there was...a calming clarity to the situation.
  48.
  49. -Is your character bothered by the sight of blood? If so, in what way?
  50.
  51. Depends whose blood. I've seen my own often enough, and that of criminals. Doesn't bother me. But the blood of innocent people... I...I need a minute.
  52.
  53. -Does your character remember names or faces easier?
  54.
  55. With a family as big as mine, ya gotta learn both. I've seen enough angry relatives chide me for being mistaken for their siblings for a lifetime.
  56.
  57. -Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?
  58.
  59. Can't say I've ever been wanting for it, but I don't covet it. I suppose it's because I want things to be simple? Money makes some people weird.
  60.
  61. -Which does your character idealize most: happiness or success?
  62.
  63. Happiness, no contest. There's no value to success if it's killing you inside, I've seen what that looks like.
  64.
  65. -What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?
  66.
  67. I had a cool stick. I used it for... well, stick fighting of course, but also for building forts and other stuff. Mom threw it away eventually. I...still hold a little bit of a grudge.
  68.
  69. -Is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others?
  70.
  71. I think either are pretty neat. I am...not exactly known for either I suppose, so seeing other people look before they leap or feel a powerful motivation is...inspiring.
  72.
  73. -What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?
  74.
  75. I haven't ever um...been in like an actual relationship. But my family has said I don't open up enough, I guess. Kyou's been helping me work on it. Since I mostly just know family members and we can't afford to be picky, I guess the only real destroyed relationships I've experienced are my exile. But I still had a lot of support from my cousins and my sister exiled herself to join me so... I don't know.
  76.
  77. -In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?
  78.
  79. I don't think I've ever thought about that before. I guess if anything, I look to others for inspiration and motivation so...a mix of validation and criticism?
  80.
  81. -If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?
  82.
  83. If it happened by my actions, I will not shirk my duty. If it's by the actions of others, someone is probably going to pay.
  84.
  85. -What does your character like in other people?
  86.
  87. I guess honesty most of all. It's a lot easier to approach people if they aren't putting up a smokescreen.
  88.
  89. -What does your character dislike in other people?
  90.
  91. It's a toss up between dishonesty and spinelessness. You don't have to be courageous, and being scared is okay, but at least own up to it.
  92.
  93. -How quick is your character to trust someone else?
  94.
  95. Depends on their actions I guess. I'm quick to trust, but if that trust is broken, it's a long way down.
  96.
  97. -How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person?
  98.
  99. I am not usually the suspicious type. People will make their intentions known one way or another, don't have to watch their shadow.
  100.
  101. -How does your character behave around children?
  102.
  103. Well, after Kyou, I'm the second oldest of the younger Abe generation, so I've been the babysitter before. Kids are just little people who are a lot of fun.
  104.
  105. -How does your character normally deal with confrontations?
  106.
  107. Physical confrontations, swiftly. Other kinds...I am not so good at. I am...known to get a little emotional. Or...be confused.
  108.
  109. -How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation?
  110.
  111. I am certainly not looking for a fight, but if other parties insinuate the use of force at all, I will crash down on them like a wave.
  112.
  113. -What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?
  114.
  115. Well I grew up on tales of samurai, but I guess those times are behind us. I'm still looking for somewhere else to use my strength for good.
  116.
  117. -What does your character find repulsive or disgusting?
  118.
  119. ...uni. It tastes like mud, it wasn't my fault I spit it out. That...that is what you meant, right? Oh, um, not being able to accept people for who they are I guess.
  120.
  121. -Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.
  122.
  123. Sitting down to a homecooked meal with the person whose ass you just kicked in a kendo match.
  124.
  125. -Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable.
  126.
  127. Wearing uncomfortable, fashionable clothes that restrict your movement while every unique part of you is concealed and your blind obedience is demanded.
  128.
  129. -In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve?
  130.
  131. Always improving. As far as I know, humans don't achieve a perfect state.
  132.
  133. -Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method?
  134.
  135. I guess if swinging harder can change things, I might stick with that. Otherwise, maybe try something else?
  136.
  137. -How does your character behave around people they like?
  138.
  139. Kyou says I loosen up and laugh more. So, I guess that.
  140.
  141. -How does your character behave around people they dislike?
  142.
  143. A lot of glaring.
  144.
  145. -Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status?
  146.
  147. Honor I guess, but really I'm more concerned with other people's honor. I'd tarnish my own to protect theirs.
  148.
  149. -Is your character more likely to remove a problem/threat, or remove themselves from a problem/threat?
  150.
  151. Definitely the first one.
  152.
  153. -Has your character ever been bitten by an animal? How were they affected (or unaffected)?
  154.
  155. I mean yeah, it happens. Have you never had a pet? Either ignore it or bite them back.
  156.
  157. -How does your character treat people in service jobs?
  158.
  159. I don't know what that means, but like, I think I treat everyone well who hasn't given me cause to do otherwise.
  160.
  161. -Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, whether it be material or abstract, or do they feel they must earn it first?
  162.
  163. When I was younger, my family definitely made me feel like I deserved things because I was an Abe. Now, I know we must earn most things and cherish what we're given undeservingly.
  164.
  165. -Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them?
  166.
  167. Plenty of aunts and uncles I guess. I suppose the ones more involved in various sports we'd play were the ones I was closest to.
  168.
  169. -Has your character ever had a dependent figure who was not related to them?
  170.
  171. Don't think so. Wait, does a cat or dog count? No? Okay.
  172.
  173. -How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?
  174.
  175. I mean, I say it to my family all the time. Wait, did you mean the, uh, other kind? I've never...really been in a situation for that. So...yeah.
  176.
  177. -What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
  178.
  179. Hell if I know. We all find out eventually, but I don't really focus on it.
