  1. You tell Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden, "Blessings upon you, Silver Goddess. May I ask You a personal
  2. question about ancient history?"
  3.
  4. The Divine voice of Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden echoes in your head, "You may ask, tainted one, but
  5. I will not promise you an answer."
  6.
  7. You tell Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden, "Why, if Lord Fain's actions were winning the war against the
  8. Heralds, did You decide to infiltrate his Cotiere? Were You not aware that removing such an
  9. advantage would inevitably cause the war to no longer be in Your favor?"
  10.
  11. The Divine voice of Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden echoes in your head, "Have you read the tales of
  12. Our past, little one? Before you asked Me such a question? Did you read how the infected Elders
  13. became deranged murderers and violent shadows of Their past selves?"
  14.
  15. You tell Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden, "I have read the histories, Silver Goddess. And even
  16. following that train of thought, Ma'am, it still seems a small price to pay for the continued
  17. existence of all things."
  18.
  19. The Divine voice of Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden echoes in your head, "Look around, child of the
  20. taint. Do you not see existence all around you? Do you not feel the mark of Dynara in the wind and
  21. the soil? Truly, even a shard whose essence has been altered by the soulless can still sense these
  22. things for what they are."
  23.
  24. The Divine voice of Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden echoes in your head, "Note, as well, that it was We
  25. who built what you stand upon. It was We who painted the skies, awakened the spirits, and brought
  26. life to the seasons. We are the governors of this existence. The Twelve Traitors were willing to
  27. destroy this plane, and all planes, to gain more strength."
  28.
  29. The Divine voice of Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden echoes in your head, "And for what? To attempt a
  30. losing battle? The Soulless are immeasurable in Their power. They are destruction incarnate, heralds
  31. of Magnora, Whose very presence means death. You ask Me why I did what I did, but you cannot begin
  32. to understand the sacrifices We made. The Traitors were once Our loved ones, taintling, and do not
  33. disrespect Me by forgetting that."
  34.
  35. You tell Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden, "I mean no disrespect, Silver Goddess. I am simply trying to
  36. understand that which surrounds me. I offer my sincere apologies if any disrespect was interpreted."
  37.
  38. A light rain, forged of falling moonlight, pools in thin air, coalescing into the glimmering figure
  39. of Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden.
  40.
  41. Lisaera steps forward lightly, Her storm-coloured eyes darkening with each movement of Her body.
  42.
  43. You bow respectfully to Lisaera.
  44.
  45. Her voice low and deep, resonant of the brewing storm, Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden says to you,
  46. "The world was dying. The Basin of Life was filled with the blood of My friends, My Cousins, My
  47. Brothers and Sisters."
  48.
  49. Centre of the Necropolis.
  50. It is difficult to detect any features of the room, due to the powerful field of energy that is put
  51. out by the Megalith of Doom, absorbing all but the darkest of colours and dominating everything else
  52. in the room. The architecture of the room is designed to accommodate the Megalith of Doom with a
  53. high dome that forms the entire ceiling. A circular series of steps descends three tiers down to the
  54. indentation in the centre of the room where the Megalith stands. Four archways lead out of the room
  55. to the other areas of the Necropolis, where candles and other illumination can barely be detected
  56. through the powerful force of the Megalith. Filling the room with its presence, an ebony chest
  57. adorned with taint wyrms has been placed on the ground with its top down. Ghostly images haunt the
  58. black crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling here, its wispy black silk ribbons swaying gently.
  59. An intricate gearwork chest rests on the floor, lid open to reveal the contents. Rising up from
  60. cracks in the floor, the Megalith of Doom towers above everything here, polluting the air with its
  61. foul fumes. The Keeper of the Megalith stands here radiating a tainted presence. There are 43 wights
  62. here. There are 30 illithoid reavers here. Gibbering to itself, a ghoul looks about itself here with
  63. a malevolent gleam in its eyes. Swirling eddies of chaotic ether dance around a marble shrine to
  64. Morgfyre that holds a crystal model of the planispheres. There are 3 wights here. The shrouded form
  65. of a wight floats ominously in the air here. The shrouded form of a wight floats ominously in the
  66. air here. A grotesque ghast squats here, dragging its taloned hands on the ground. A sigil in the
  67. shape of a small, rectangular monolith is on the ground. Sitting on its haunches, a bloodhound rests
  68. here. In the shape of an open palm, a metallic sigil lies here. A platinum eye sigil is here. A
  69. hunting trophy bearing Fralunah's head is proudly exhibited on a nearby wall. Lisaera, the Ethereal
  70. Maiden stands before you, a wreath of pale moonlight encircling Her form.
  71. You see exits leading north, east, south, and west.
  72.
  73. Each syllable a crash of thunder, Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden says to you, "Our blood rained from
  74. the skies. My own heart stopped beating when I made My decision, for Fain was My heart. His plan
  75. would have ended this world. His plan would have turned Us all into mindless hungerers, like the
  76. Soulless Themselves, and We would have all died from Our need to quench Our thirst on life itself."
  77.
  78. You have emoted: After considering the statement for several moments Cyna nods.
  79.
  80. Her eyes the black centre of the storm, Her voice ancient and low, Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden says
  81. to you, "Know this, taintling -- although My heart is made of stone, I will use every last breath in
  82. this world to keep it whole. I will send those who step in front of Me to their oblivions."
  83.
  84. Silver fire erupts in the sky above the Necropolis and thunder booms across the heavens.
  85.
  86. You say to Lisaera, "Your Passion serves you well, Silver Goddess. It is an admirable trait."
  87.
  88. Her storm-black eyes narrowing, Lisaera, the Ethereal Maiden says to you, "You know nothing of
  89. passion, child. Know well what I say -- there is fear in this world, and then there is Me."
  90.
  91. You nod your head at Lisaera.
  92.
  93. Thunder erupts in the Silver Lady's wake as She becomes a memory, Her form consumed by silver flames.
