  4. eXPerience Presents...
  5.
  6. Windows XP Professional SP3 - February 2010
  7. ________________________________________________________________________
  8.
  9. To boot from this DVD, set your PC up so it will boot
  10. from the DVD drive in the PC's BIOS.
  11. ________________________________________________________________________
  12.
  13. When you boot from this DVD you will see 6 options.
  14.
  15. You have a choice of 3 different Windows installations:
  16.
  17. 1. Full Windows XP (nothing is removed)
  18. 2. TinyXP (large components removed, but usable for most)
  19. 3. MicroXP (extremely small, only takes 221Mb of HDD space)
  20.
  21. All three versions are updated to February 2010.
  22.
  23. There are also three more boot options:
  24.
  25. 4. Acronis True Image EES v9.7.8353 (Backup\\Restore)
  26. 5. Hiren's BootCD v10.1 (Includes Live Windows XP)
  27. 6. SpinRite v6.1 (Hard Disk Testing and Repair)
  28.
  29. ________________________________________________________________________
  30.
  31. Tons of drivers included!
  32.
  33. After the first reboot, on all installations, you will see a pop up
  34. "Driver Selector" window, This has a 1 minute timer. If the minute
  35. counts down, you will get important driverpacks included.
  36.
  37. This selector has a lot of drivers and you can pick and choose any
  38. combination you want, but remember that you must be sat at the PC
  39. after the first reboot.
  40.
  41. All three choices include 22 different driverpacks, all are optional,
  42. but you will always get basic drivers included even if the timer is
  43. left to count down. That is, CPU, Chipset, LAN, Mass Storage, Sound,
  44. the main nVidia and ATI graphics drivers and Wireless LAN.
  45.
  46. Even if you choose to create a smaller CD sized ISO (which you can
  47. easily do by just double clicking a batch file in the ISO folder on
  48. this DVD) those still include drivers and the driver selector, but
  49. they are on a 700Mb CD so have to have less driver packs.
  50.
  51. ________________________________________________________________________
  52.
  53. Options 1 and 2
  54. ---------------
  55.
  56. - NOT unattended.
  57. - You do not require any product key
  58. - Allows you to do a "Repair" installation
  59.
  60. You can install Windows the way you want, choose your own username,
  61. regional and language options etc.
  62.
  63.
  64. Option 2
  65. --------
  66.
  67. Option 2 is TinyXP Rev10 (February 2010).
  68.
  69. This is usable for most people, but it does not include Chinese,
  70. Japanese or Korean languages. It also has a lot of other things
  71. removed that are classed as a waste of resources, or just bulky
  72. and useless. For example the upgrade option is removed, since
  73. only a clean install is advised, also the Tour is removed, MSN
  74. Explorer and many other items, but whilst keeping all of the
  75. functionality (services) in Windows. This means you get a smaller
  76. install and it uses less RAM, but you get almost the whole of
  77. Windows and will not miss anything taken out.
  78.
  79. To see whats removed from TinyXP, see the file here:
  80.
  81. XP02\I386\SVCPACK\NLITE\Last Session.ini
  82.
  83. You should only install this Windows onto a freshly formatted
  84. partition or hard disk.
  85.
  86.
  87. Option 3
  88. --------
  89.
  90. Option 3 is not for the faint hearted, it is an extremely small edition
  91. of Windows with a lot of components removed. I actually use it myself
  92. though, as my main OS. It seems to do everything I need it to do.
  93.
  94. There are advantages to MicroXP:
  95.
  96. - Extremely fast installation
  97. - Fast to scan for viruses
  98. - Making a backup is fast
  99. - Defragmenting is fast
  100.
  101. Those are just some advantages - the OS is also less prone to viruses
  102. because there are so few files left to attack and it runs very fast.
  103.
  104. This boots up in probably a third of the time of normal Windows XP.
  105.
  106. This installation is unattended and set to US English, but you can
  107. change the country for your keyboard afterwards.
  108.
  109. You should only install this Windows onto a freshly formatted
  110. partition or hard disk.
  111.
  112. ________________________________________________________________________
  113.
  114. Included driverpacks:
  115.
  116. BlueTooth (42.60 Mb)
  117. Broadband (16.20 Mb)
  118. Chipset (11.50 Mb)
  119. CPU (148.00 Kb)
  120. Graphics A (297.00 Mb)
  121. Graphics B (375.00 Mb)
  122. Graphics C (587.00 Mb)
  123. Input Devices (56.90 Mb)
  124. LAN Ethernet (50.20 Mb)
  125. Mass Storage (32.00 Mb)
  126. Miscellaneous (52.10 Mb)
  127. Modem (177.00 Mb)
  128. Monitor (95.10 Mb)
  129. Phone (15.00 Mb)
  130. Scanner (13.90 Mb)
  131. Sound A (182.00 Mb)
  132. Sound B (280.00 Mb)
  133. TV Card (75.00 Mb)
  134. USB Devices (2.69 Mb)
  135. Virtual (8.42 Mb)
  136. Webcam (221.00 Mb)
  137. Wireless LAN (158.00 Mb)
  138.
  139. Sizes above are for the uncompressed drivers on your hard disk.
  140.
  141. The drivers that get copied to your hard disk are only there
  142. during setup and will be removed again afterwards. Only the
  143. drivers that your system needs will be installed.
  144.
  145. ________________________________________________________________________
  146.
  147. Other boot options
  148. ------------------
  149.
  150. - Acronis Backup + Restore
  151.
  152. Allows you to backup your existing partition(s) before installing
  153. Windows, or you can quickly restore a backup made previously with
  154. Acronis.
  155.
  156.
  157. - Hirens Boot CD v10.1
  158.
  159. This includes a bootable "Mini XP" that you can boot into in case
  160. you cannot boot into Windows anymore. From there you can access
  161. your disks again and use any of the dozens of tools included. This
  162. is a massive collection of more then 200 tools! Including Partition
  163. Tools, Disk Clone Tools, Antivirus Tools, Recovery Tools, Testing Tools,
  164. RAM (Memory) Testing Tools, Hard Disk Tools, System Information Tools,
  165. MBR (Master Boot Record) Tools, BIOS / CMOS Tools, MultiMedia Tools,
  166. Password Tools, NTFS, Ext2FS, Ext3FS (FileSystems) Tools, Dos File
  167. Managers, Dos Tools and Windows Tools. You can boot into Hiren's
  168. and have access to Norton Partition Magic, Paragon Partition Manager,
  169. EasyRecovery.
  170.
  171.
  172. - SpinRite v6.0
  173.
  174. SpinRite attempts to recover data from damaged portions of hard disks
  175. that might not be readable via the operating system. When it encounters
  176. a sector with errors that cannot be corrected by the disk drive's error
  177. correcting code, it tries to read the sector up to 2000 times, and
  178. tries to determine the most probable value of each bit by comparing
  179. the results. The data is then saved onto a new block of the same disk.
  180.
  181. ________________________________________________________________________
  182.

  185. This folder contains 2 folders. One is silent installers, one is
  186. portable programs.
  187.
  188. You can run the silent installers off the DVD itself but you must
  189. copy any of the portables you want to use to your hard disk before
  190. using them.

  222.
  223. ISO folder (CD)
  224.
  225. If you want to make a <700Mb CD of any of these Windows
  226. installations, you have 7 different options to choose from...
  227.
  228. You can make an ISO file (bootable CD image) by running one
  229. of the batch files included in the ISO folder on the DVD.
  230.
  231. You must have the DVD in your DVD drive OR the main DVD ISO
  232. file mounted in a virtual drive for this to work!
  233.
  234. The last option here gives you TinyXP and MicroXP with all
  235. the other boot options like Acronis, Hirens and SpinRite
  236. and it also includes a good selection of driver packs.
  237.
  238. See the ISO folder for more info.
  239.
  240. The 7 batch files are as follows...
  241.
  242. 01a - Full XP + 4 Driverpacks [694Mb]
  243. 01b - Full XP - No Added Drivers [672Mb]
  244.
  245. 02a - TinyXP + 16 Driverpacks [699Mb]
  246. 02b - TinyXP - No Added Drivers [346Mb]
  247.
  248. 03a - MicroXP + 20 Driverpacks [695Mb]
  249. 03b - MicroXP - No Added Drivers [109Mb]
  250.
  251. 04 - TinyXP+MicroXP+Multi-Boot+6 Driverpacks [698Mb]
  252.
  253.
  254. Running one of those files produces the following ISO file:
  255.
  256. XP01a.Full.XP.With.Drivers.iso ................................. [694Mb]
  257. XP01b.Full.XP.Without.Drivers.iso .............................. [672Mb]
  258.
  259. XP02a.TinyXP.With.Drivers.iso .................................. [699Mb]
  260. XP02b.TinyXP.Without.Drivers.iso ............................... [346Mb]
  261.
  262. XP03a.MicroXP.With.Drivers.iso ................................. [695Mb]
  263. XP03b.MicroXP.Without.Drivers.iso .............................. [109Mb]
  264.
  265. XP04.TinyXP.MicroXP.Hirens.Acronis.SpinRite.With.Drivers.iso ... [698Mb]
  266.
  267. ________________________________________________________________________
  268.
  269. ----------------------------------------------------
  270. WHAT IF YOU ONLY HAVE A CD BURNER AND NO DVD BURNER?
  271. ----------------------------------------------------
  272.
  273. As stated above, you can just mount the main DVD ISO file in a
  274. virtual drive and then run one of the bat files to create a
  275. new ISO file.
  276.
  277. If you don't already have any software to mount this ISO file with,
  278. just open this ISO with WinRAR and drag out the "Daemon Tools" file
  279. from the "APPS\Silent" folder. Install that Daemon Tools program.
  280. Then after installing Daemon Tools, reboot.
  281.
  282. Now with Daemon Tools, mount this ISO file of the DVD.
  283.
  284. Now open the virtual drive in My Computer and open the ISO folder.
  285.
  286. Simply click any .bat file to make a .iso of the CD you want.
  287.
  288. ________________________________________________________________________
  289.
  290. OEM folder (CD)
  291.
  292. If you want to install the drivers on this CD independently of
  293. installing Windows, this is now possible by running one file.
  294.
  295. In the OEM folder on the CD you will find a file called:
  296.
  297. DP_Install_Tool.cmd
  298.
  299. Run this DP_Install_Tool.cmd file and sit back whilst the process unpacks
  300. the drivers, then tries to find any drivers you might need installing,
  301. then installs the drivers, then removes the initial drivers that were
  302. extracted, because they are not needed afterwards.
  303.
  304. You can run this DP_Install_Tool.cmd file anytime, on any x86 Windows XP
  305. or Server 2003.
  306.
  307. Do not move the CMD file from the OEM folder. If the CMD file is not left
  308. where it is inside the OEM folder, it will not work.
  309.
  310. ________________________________________________________________________
  311.
  312. eXPerience folder (Desktop)
  313.
  314. Most of these folders contain quick solutions to things that otherwise
  315. would be buried away in the Windows GUI or require DOS style commands.
  316. E.g. "control userpasswords2" will open the screen to change your
  317. Windows XP login password.
  318.
  319. Check WGA Status - This lets you see if Windows passes the WGA check.
  320. Desksave - Allows you to save your icon setup on the Desktop.
  321. Driver Install Tool - Info about the driver installer (OEM folder).
  322. Hibernation - Turns Hibernation on/off with one double click.
  323. Registry Backup - Easily backup your registry in one double click.
  324. Services Configuration Files - Configure Windows to use less RAM.
  325. ShrinkXP Scripts - Removal of components whilst Windows is running.
  326. System Restore - Enable (or disable) System Restore.
  327. System Volume Information - unlock (or lock) this folder.
  328. User Password - Easily change your password for Windows.
  329. ________________________________________________________________________
  330.
  331. Removed Items:
  332.
  333. TinyXP and MicroXP both had items removed.
  334.
  335. The breakdown of items removed is far too long to list here,
  336. especially MicroXP.
  337.
  338. To see what got removed, see the "Last Session.ini" file:
  339.
  340. XP01\I386\SVCPACK\NLITE\Last Session.ini
  341.
  342. XP02\I386\SVCPACK\NLITE\Last Session.ini

  345.
  346. XP01 = Full XP
  347. XP02 = TinyXP
  348. XP03 = MicroXP
