Criminal History:
Gordon served nearly six months over a five-year period at the Bristol County House of Correction in North Dartmouth, Mass., according to records from the Bristol County Sheriff's office.

served four months in jail after being convicted of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in 1999

2003 for a one-month stay on another assault and battery charge and again in 2004 after being charged with attempted murder

He was charged six times with assault and battery, twice with a gun and once with a pool cue. Gordon was charged with possession of marijuana in 1996 and convicted of operating under the influence in 1993.

Records show Gordon was convicted of the 1999 assault and battery charge but the attempted murder charge was dismissed.

Gordon has been charg 18 times since 1993, according to criminal records from the Mass. Office of Public Safety and Security.

Gordon allegedly strangled his girlfriend, leaving red marks around her throat. The police reports said the girlfriend claimed "he tried to kill me" by putting his hand on her mouth and nose. It's unclear why the charges were dropped.

The contractors’ licensing boards in Rhode Island, Connecticut and North Carolina said neither Dan Gordon or Alliance Building Contractors LLC, a company that a web search indicated was affiliated with Gordon, have a license.

The private, non-governmental website veteranownedbusinesses.com lists Gordon as the contact person for Alliance Building Contractors, and indicates that the LLC is in the program.

Work history as a State Representative:

Gordon was elected as a state representative last November, defeating Democrat George Alzaibak by just 47 votes. He succeeded fellow Republican Rep. John Loughlin, who retired to mount a losing bid for Congress against David Cicilline.

Gordon was evicted from the Republican caucus earlier in Sept. 2011. He made headlines in March when he criticized Tiverton High School for allowing the formation of a Gay-Straight Alliance student group.

Both Democrats and Republicans are calling for his resignation.
