  1. To anyone who finds this dead sack of shit, don't waste your time reading this. If you do and like where it's headed, I'm sorry to let you down. I might post a link to my new pastebin here eventually, so check back in a month or something for that link.
  2. Thanks and have a nice day.

  4. All that is today science, will someday be history. - Anonymous
  5.
  6. Epilogue
  7.
  8. >it had taken studying the most advanced sciences
  9. >no single man could have conquered this task alone
  10. >over the years, studying at different colleges, doing experiments of your own, and praying to whatever God might have been listening, you had accomplished the "impossible"
  11. >Gabriel was the only one there besides you when the gateway was ready
  12. >you thought of calling Michael, but decided to try testing it yourself first
  13. >"Are you really ready for this Anon? What if it doesn't work?"
  14. "If it's a dud..we just keep trying. We all want to go back. It's where we belong."
  15. >"Well.. what if we make it..and nobody remembers us? Time passes differently for them. The rest of the crew could already be dead for all we know."
  16. "Well jeez Gabe, it's been seven years, and you're just thinking of that now?"
  17. >"No, dude it's just..it's so real now. I can reach out and touch the bridge to our home."
  18. "But isn't that a good thing?"
  19. >"Hell yeah that's good. But now my fears are as real as this portal is about to be."
  20. >Gabriel plugs in the 5 or so power cables into various back-up batteries nearby
  21. >you know Gabe is probably genuinely scared that your work was in vain
  22. >you had tried to move on, but as the project neared completion, your own fears had returned
  23. >there was only one thing left to do
  24. "You ready, Gabe?"
  25. >"Ready, Anon."
  26. >you thought you'd never seen a brighter light come from anything man-made before
  27. sorry for the delay, family related shenanigans
  28.
  29. ---
  30. >the gateway was open, you could go now
  31. "I'm gonna test this real quick"
  32. >you pick up a metal rod and point it at the portal
  33. >"Anon, what are you doing? Don't you remember what happened on Lost?"
  34. >you give Gabriel a look that told him just how stupid that sounded
  35. "It's a fucking tv show Gabe, and either way this isn't a time machine"
  36. >before you even finish your sentence you stab the rod into the light
  37. >it goes in, and from the other side of the machine, it's clear the portal goes somewhere
  38. >you pull it back out
  39. >no temperature change, it's still solid, it's not been altered in the slightest
  40. "See? It's safe."
  41. >"You can never be too safe," Gabriel replies, as he approaches the portal "I'll go first."
  42. "Good luck there Mr. Cautious, don't trip on your sense of impending doom on your way through"
  43. >"Yeah yeah whatever" and he's gone in a flash
  44. >the portal says it can stay open a good 30 more minutes before the batteries are out
  45. >time to get Michael
  46. >that lazy-ass was always sleeping on the job
  47. >he was supposed to have come down to meet you two but he was nowhere to be seen
  48. >up, put of the basement, across the kitchen, into the dining room, and right there on the living room couch was the lazy bum that completed your trio
  49. >you go try to wake up the lazy fuck
  50. >it takes a while but the deepest sleeper in the state finally wakes his ass up
  51. >"Hey, Anon what's going on?"
  52. "Where have you been dipshit? We already opened the portal!"
  53. >Well he really snapped awake at that
  54. >"AW HELL YEAH MAN! WOO!"
  55. >he runs into the basement like a madman and trips on the portal, falling face first through it
  56. >last is you, and then you were all off
  57. >you weren't expecting what you saw
  58.
  59. ---
  60. And so begins the first chapter.
  61.
  62. >It had been exactly a year since the day you and the crew fell through the portal
  63. >you sat on your bed in this new home thinking of the past
  64. >you were ready to see familiar faces all around, greeting you after your return
  65. >you knew the other two had higher expectations than you
  66. >the probability that another war had taken place in seven years was just too high
  67. >when you arrived at the terminal you were in denial
  68. >you thought maybe it was just all the staff were on holiday
  69. >you tried a door out of the terminal
  70. >locked
  71. >a few doors later you had found one that fell down at barely a touch
  72. >only devastation awaited
  73. >everything was gone
  74. >the door opened to a cliff of a ledge
  75. >you were on the edge of a crater
  76. >everywhere you looked, destruction
  77. >you tried to meditate and feel if anyone was there
  78. >nobody
  79. >you three were the last inhabitants in what may be the last standing building in all of the planet
  80. >the portal terminal had protective fields in case of security breach
  81. >thanks to them the room still existed
  82. >you remember Michael looked as if nobody had zoned out more since the beginning of time
  83. >Gabriel was in tears on the ground, no doubt thinking of what he could have done differently
  84. >there was one terminal computer in the open
  85. >there was time to grieve later, you had to see if you were safe, or if not, get the hell out of there
  86. >you log in as an administrator and check the system
  87. >there was 1% of the power reserves left
  88. >you had to act fast
  89. >all the portals you could open required too much energy
  90. >there was one on the list that didn't need much
  91. >the safety of your portal to earth was uncertain, you didn't calibrate it for returning
  92. >even if you and Mike left, Gabe wouldn't risk it
  93. >you read it over again
  94. "Equestria. Requires .3% per minute per user. Added..oh, that was only two months after we left..and it was the last portal ever added?"
  95.
  96. ---
  97. >on the map, it was the closest in terms of dimentional neighbors, besides earth, to which travel was locked
  98. >no time to think about it. you had to leave now, the reserves already read .95%
  99. >after a little forcefulness you got the other two up and ready
  100. >off you go to this "Equestria"
  101. >you were the last through, and the portal almost closed on your leg
  102. >and that's how you came to this strange world
  103. >no humans. just these little ponies. no better than your home planet. Well..back when it was still inhabitable
  104. >"Hey Anon, what's got you down?"
  105. >you look up and see twilight has walked into your room
  106. >she had taken you in, and helped set you up in her basement, while your mates stayed with other ponies
  107. "Oh..It's nothing, just, stuff from my past."
  108. >"You wanna talk about it?"
  109. "No thanks, I'm good. Oh, but by any chance do you know where Michael and Gabriel are?"
  110. >"Sorry, 'non, I haven't seen them. But you do have a visitor upstairs, you should go say hi."
  111. "Alright, tell whoever it is that I'll be up in a minute."
  112. >you decide that you've grieved enough for now. it was good enough to have remembered that day on the anniversary of your arrival
  113. >you checked the time on the last piece of electronics you'd ever hoped to see again
  114. >it calibrated with the inter-world network still, that cube that all organization operatives were given
  115. >it was in itself a supercomputer that only cooperated for its owner
  116. >you had learned as much when twilight tried to experiment on it with her magic
  117. "Refocus, Anon, you have a visitor" you say to yourself
  118. >who shows up at 7am anyway?
  119.
  120. ---
  121. >out of bed you go
  122. >on with the clothes and up the stairs
  123. >who wanted to see you this early?
  124. >hey..is that rainb-
  125. "oof"
  126. >she tackled you before you could even greet her
  127. >"hey anon! guesswhatijustscoredthismorning!"
  128. "A new record time for attacking me before I can say hi?"
  129. >"Well of course I did, but that's not what I'm talking about! I got free FRONT ROW tickets to a Wonderbolts show this afternoon!
  130. "Ah, nice score there. Pretty awesome to have gotten them for free."
  131. >you get up from under the hyped blue Pegasus
  132. >she's been coming to see you a lot lately, hasn't she?
  133. >this is, what, the fourth time this week?
  134. >"The stallion who gave me these said they'd be going some new tricks this show! At first he and his wife were going to go but then some other plans conflicted and now I have their tickets!"
  135. "Well that was nice of him to give you two for free. Who are you gonna take with you?"
  136. >"huh?"
  137. "You have two tickets, who's getting the other one?"
  138. >"Oh..uh..actually, I wanted to see if you'd like to go with me Anon."
  139. >fo shizzle
  140. >free ticket to a special show on a day marking the memorial of a lost world?
  141. >it sounds bittersweet to you
  142. >the elders taught you to have respect for the dead, and considering the billions that died in your absence, attending would be..unorthodox
  143. >on the other hand, you couldn't spend your whole day grieving. it hurt too much.
  144. >the elders also taught never to turn down acts of generosity
  145. >just this once, then I'll never break the teachings again
