- [22:04]You wave to Roen Deneith.
- [22:04]Roen Deneith walks up the street, spotting Kage. She smiles to him.
- [22:04]Roen Deneith takes a deep breath. "Are you ready?"
- [22:05]Kage Kiryuu returns the smile and gives a small shake. "But I'll have to make do. You?"
- [22:05]Roen Deneith tugs at her tabard as if to straighten it. Her complexion is less pale than when he saw her last. She mirrors his smile.
- [22:05]Kage Kiryuu frowns a little at Roen, concerned.
- [22:05]Roen Deneith: "I suppose you and I are in the same boat." She says quietly. "Let us go. At least we are not alone this time."
- [22:06]Kage Kiryuu: ((i guess i should use my relic @_@ ? ))
- [22:06]You nod to Roen Deneith.
- [22:06]Roen Deneith salutes Anelia Sadowyn.
- [22:06]You salute Anelia Sadowyn.
- [22:07]Roen Deneith: "Captain Sadowyn. Roen Deneith reporting for the Trial." She salutes.
- [22:07]Kage Kiryuu nods and salutes, "Captain Sadowyn, Kage Kiryuu reporting for the Trial as well."
- [22:07]Anelia Sadowyn: Evening, recruits. I am glad to see that you two have worn your uniforms for this trial.
- [22:08]Natalie Mcbeef nods, "Anelia"
- [22:08]Natalie Mcbeef: "Do you mind if I observe?"
- [22:08]Anelia Sadowyn glances at Natalie and nods slightly "Natalie."
- [22:09]Anelia Sadowyn: I was not notified by the superiors that you'd be joining us. But very well. I suppose you'll be wearing your uniform as well?
- [22:09]Natalie Mcbeef admires herself.
- [22:09]Natalie Mcbeef: "I suppose I will"
- [22:11]Anelia Sadowyn: Anyways, we'll be making our travels to Vesper Bay. Your trials are to monitor all trades and any illegal transactions that may be coming from Limsa Lominsa. There is a slight suspicion that Monetarists are behind some illegal exports heading to Limsa Lominsa.
- [22:11]Roen Deneith blinks.
- [22:11]Anelia Sadowyn: While you are being there, Trial will be based on how loyal you are to her majesty, and also how you maybe devoted to Royalists.
- [22:12]Kage Kiryuu blinks and resists the urge to scratch at his goatee. He gives the slightest of nods.
- [22:12]Roen Deneith nods, listening intently. There is a slight furrow to her brows. Monetarists and Royalists. She hardly ever considered the politics in her duty before.
- [22:13]Kage Kiryuu glanced out of the sides of his eyes to first Roen, and then Natalie before once more focusing on Anelia.
- [22:13]Anelia Sadowyn: This trial is very important whether you are loyal to the Royalists. So let's head there.
- [22:13]Roen Deneith glances to Kage then Natalie, back to Anelia. She nods again.
- [22:14]Roen Deneith ponders. There are Sultansworn also guarding the Husting Strip. Their duties vary. She had not considered that.
- [22:17]Roen Deneith chews her lips. "Captain Sadowyn, how are we to know the Monetarist from Royalist? Are we to ask them to declare themselves..?"
- [22:18]Kage Kiryuu glances at Roen, inwardly relieved someone had asked... that was not him.
- 22:18]Anelia Sadowyn stops walking and turns at Roen, Kage and Natalie "As you can see, the Brass Blades are funded by Monetarists. Brass Blades control the outer regions of Ul'dah and most of the trades, and patrols are under their control."
- [22:20]Anelia Sadowyn: Brass Blades are Monetarist mercenaries hired by leader of Monetarist and Eastern Trading Company known as Lolorito. Most monetarists wear similar hats like Brass Blades. But some others wear fancy clothes, and they can be in charge of dancers, alcohols, and specialized herbs used for smoking.
- [22:21]Natalie Mcbeef seems lost in thought.
- [22:22]Anelia Sadowyn: And then there are also Amaljina and Sons mining company that run Stone Torches. They are neutral political groups.
- [22:22]Kage Kiryuu: "So we would like to... 'strike a blow' to said Monetarists as we catch them in their illegal activities?"
- [22:24]Roen Deneith: "But..." She glances from Kage back to Anelia. "Not all their activities are illegal, aye? Monetarist does not necessarily mean illegal...?"
- [22:24]Anelia Sadowyn: We cannot arrest monetarists unless there are vital evidences, or if those monetarists assault us first. That is one thing you must be aware of. You may not attack first, but also does not mean you should let your guard down. You can possibly be attacked sometimes.
- [22:24]Kage Kiryuu nods, "Of course. I mean that, it would be -if- there was evidence that such activities were illegal."
- [22:25]Anelia Sadowyn: Not all monetarists are necessarily bad, per say. However some monetarists have pasts with Sultansworns. Even though there were plenty of evidences, the Sultansworns could not bring those monetarist party into justice.
- [22:26]Natalie Mcbeef grin, "Damn, I can only hope my own trials were as... informative" she nods, "Sorry for bothing you Anelia, I'll let you finish"
- [22:27]Anelia Sadowyn: Even though Brass Blades have the right to approve shipments and patrol around these lands, but it is us Sultansworns to investigate further into these and find anything that Brass Blades might have missed, or ... even evaded intentionally.
- [22:28]Roen Deneith nods. She has never met this Lolorito, but has heard of the name often.
- [22:28]Anelia Sadowyn: Let's keep going. Horizon post is almost near.
- [22:28]You nod to Anelia Sadowyn.
- [22:33]Roen Deneith thinks she keeps seeing a lalafell that could look precious.
- [22:35]Kage Kiryuu slows and stops as the captain does so.
- [22:35]Anelia Sadowyn: This place is fully secured by Brass Blades. Mainly because it is where the shipments come and go from Limsa Lominsa.
- [22:35]Roen Deneith comes to a stop, she glances about Vesper Bay, inhaling the breeze. It is a little cooler here.
- [22:36]Kage Kiryuu looks around seeing all of the Brass Blades men.
- [22:37]Anelia Sadowyn: Usually, Hall of Flames send either a Flame soldier or Sultansworn once in a while to investigate Vesper Bay to make sure there is nothing going on.
- [22:37]You gaze upon Anelia Sadowyn in deep reflection.
- [22:39]Anelia Sadowyn: Monetarists have their ways on using their money to avoid any conflicts, and most monetarist parties who had been arrested by Sultansworns were released by Lolorito's men. Monetarists have branches of companies just like us Sultansworns branched out in different squads.
- [22:41]Anelia Sadowyn takes out a small slip of paper and looks at it. Then looks at both. "Tell me, there is a man with several illegal conducts and had been released by monetarists several times. However, there is a clear evidence for him to be arrested. The man resists and refuses to be interrogated. What is your next move?"
- [22:41]Roen Deneith purses her lips. "I arrest him. By force if needed."
- [22:42]Kage Kiryuu frowns and asks, "May I ask, what the circumstances of who is he being released from? Other Sultansworn or mere Flames or Blades?"
- [22:42]Anelia Sadowyn: I want you both to give me your true motives. Not an answer that you think I'd want to hear.
- [22:43]Anelia Sadowyn: The question is, would he be released from someone that is not from Brass Blades, Sultansworn or even Immortal Flames?
- [22:44]Kage Kiryuu: "If he has bought off Sultansworn, I cannot charge in to arrest and interrogate him. Not without bringing those who are not in Monetarists' employ..."
- [22:46]Anelia Sadowyn: ...What if the Sultansworn who is associated with this suspect also has a vital evidence to be guilty?
- [22:46]Roen Deneith pinches her brows. "But if he was released, there must have been conditions that were not meant to detain him, aye?"
- [22:47]Kage Kiryuu: "You mean that the Sultansworn is also commiting illegal activities?"
- [22:47]Anelia Sadowyn: Not all Sultansworns are Royalists. However, those Sultansworns, it is our job to find and bring them to justice if we have to. Any Sultansworns who may have been doing any illegal activities, or associated with criminals are considered as guilty.
- [22:48]Kage Kiryuu: "By mere association? What if they are not aware f the illegal activities?"
- [22:48]Roen Deneith: "Either not enough evidence, or... he was cleared?" She nods to Anelia. "Is there new evidence to arrest him? Because if he was released, we cannot continue to arrest him for the same thing. He would just be released again."
- [22:48]Anelia Sadowyn: The hidden transaction between the one who released the suspect , and the suspect is our job to find out to bring both of them into justice. Was it money? Or was it political reason? Anything can happen.
- [22:50]Anelia Sadowyn: Our job is to keep Ul'dah safe and clean, without anything to prevent to demean her majesty.
- [22:50]Roen Deneith nods. "So... in investigating a criminal, we are also investigating the terms of his release. And if there were anything corrupt there." She narrows her eyes.
- [22:50]Anelia Sadowyn: Indeed.
- [22:50]Roen Deneith: "Certainly if he was arrested and then released, there are documents of the evidence." She purses her lips again.
- [22:51]Kage Kiryuu nods in accordance with Roen. "Unless the corruption runs so deep."
- [22:52]Roen Deneith: "That the documents be altered..." She furrows her b rows.
- [22:52]Anelia Sadowyn sighs a bit "You'd be surprised. Most Sultansworns records are actually held by Monetarists to make sure that we Royalists aren't dirtying our hands on bringing citizens to justice freely. That is why our political systems and the city is tainted.
- [22:53]Roen Deneith: "But... how do we question other branches? Branch Blades, Immortal Flames. They are independent of us. Do we hold jurisdiction or authority over them?"
- [22:53]Anelia Sadowyn: Recruits, what is our symbol of Ul'dah?
- [22:53]Anelia Sadowyn: It is a scale.
- [22:55]Anelia Sadowyn: It is supposedly to resemble wealth and spirits of our flames to be balanced and strong. The three branches are also meant for balance. But the scales have been leaning to Monetarists, abusing their powers for us Sultansworns to be unable to do anything but just protect her majesty only.
- [22:58]Anelia Sadowyn: While Brass Blades hold jurisdiction on these lands, but we have higher jurisdiction because we are an elite task force to protect her majesty. If there is an illegal transactions to make our city look bad, then it is our job to fix that problem. Sultansworns are looked highly upon by the citizens and adventurers.
- [23:02]Roen Deneith pinches her brows. She is obviously not looking forward to going head to head against either Brass Blades or Immortal Flames.
- [23:02]Kage Kiryuu bites his lip, feeling quite out of his element.
- [23:03]Roen Deneith glances to Brass Blades patrolling the aera. She still sees them as lawmen, not potential corrupt officers to be investigated.
- [23:04]Roen Deneith: "I would not act without solid evidence, Captain Sadowyn." She nods. "I have seen investigations and situations that are not black and white."
- [23:04]Anelia Sadowyn examines both and looks carefully. She feels that both have a sense of doubt and closed her eyes for a bit with a small sigh.
- [23:04]Roen Deneith: "There are... extenuating circumstances in many cases. Shades of grey. And justifications for certain actions that may not be to the letter of the law, but are -right- none the less." Her words are quiet but weighed.
- [23:05]Kage Kiryuu nods in agreement, this he could understand.
- [23:05]Roen Deneith: "I know corruption runs rampant in Ul'dah. And I do not fear it. I took up the shield and sword to defend others, and it may be from corrupt Monetarist. But... to investigate other lawmen... I would be looking very hard to make sure I was in the right. And they were in the wrong."
- [23:06]Anelia Sadowyn: If they were in the wrong and there are evidence, would you be pointing your sword at them to arrest them in the name of her majesty?
- [23:07]Kage Kiryuu: "Yes," this Kage could say firmly.
- [23:07]Roen Deneith: "If I was certain of their wrong, and I had evidence to prove it. Aye." She nods.
- [23:07]Anelia Sadowyn: If our Sultansworn code is to interrogate by torture and public execution by sentence in the name of her majesty, would you do it while there are dozens of people standing in that street?
- [23:08]Roen Deneith blinks.
- [23:08]Kage Kiryuu: "As Roen said, I must be absolutely certain. To not be, would damage our relationship with those we -should- trust." Kage blinks and narrows his eyes. "Would that be truly mandated by her majesty?"
- [23:08]Roen Deneith seems to pale. "Is... that our code?"
- [23:08]Anelia Sadowyn: The suspect is sentenced for public execution. Are you able to draw your sword and kill that suspect by following the code of Sultansworn and Royalist?
- [23:10]Roen Deneith blinks, she stares at Anelia for a long moment. "Executioner." She says quietly. She had never... ever thought that was part of a Sultansworn. To kill someone bound and immobile. She falls silent.
- [23:11]Kage Kiryuu believes he misunderstood that statement, "You do not mean to say we interrogate and torture publicly?" He furrows his brows and bites his lip, "But if so ordered, I would have to follow the execution order, trusting that justice and that trials did right." He says this with a heavy heart.
- [23:12]Anelia Sadowyn: Interrogation is done inside Sultansworn headquarters. You do not need to worry. I was merely asking questions.
- [23:12]Anelia Sadowyn: However, it is true that we Sultansworns have been sent to be executioners for public death sentences.
- [23:14]Roen Deneith listens and nods. But her gaze remains bowed.
- [23:15]Anelia Sadowyn: Only ones who are sentenced to death are those who use their darkest part in their tongues, such as voidsent to threaten our place and her majesty... or even one who has committed several sins by murdering many people.
- [23:16]Anelia Sadowyn: Those people maybe bound and immobilized... but their hands were dirtied and their sins cannot be washed away.
- [23:16]Roen Deneith looks back to Anelia, she nods again.
- [23:16]Anelia Sadowyn: Do not pity them for being bound and unable to defend themselves. But pity their souls to be reincarnated by Hydaelyn that he or she may come back as new soul.
- [23:17]Kage Kiryuu nods in affirmation, glancing at Roen before doing so and settling his gaze back on Anelia.
- [23:17]Anelia Sadowyn: A clean honorable death. Justice. Righteous standing. Is what we Sultansworns are. Royalist party.
- [23:17]Roen Deneith blinks, she peers at Anelia. She nods once more slower, but with understanding.
- [23:18]You nod to Anelia Sadowyn.
- [23:18]Anelia Sadowyn: This trial was merely a lesson to teach about what we do than your feat of strength.
- [23:19]Anelia Sadowyn: Whether I pass you or fail you, you should not worry. I'll make my decision when I feel that you both have accepted the compassion, tenacity and respect as a Sultansworn.
- [23:19]Kage Kiryuu widens his eyes and bows his head. "Thank you."
- [23:19]Roen Deneith nods, Erik's trial was one of instinct and her gut feeling. This one, this one weighed heavier on her mind.
- [23:19]Anelia Sadowyn: Should you feel that you are thinking that you will fail, then you will fail.
- [23:20]Anelia Sadowyn: Should you feel that you can become a Sultansworn, then you will become one. That is the ideal of being courageous, having faith and being loyal to your beliefs.
- [23:20]Roen Deneith blinks, regarding Anelia anew. She consider her words carefully.
- [23:20]Anelia Sadowyn: Confidence is the key to your success to these tests.
- [23:21]Kage Kiryuu bites his lips and closes his eyes, he nods once before opening them to look into Anelia's eyes. He nodded once more in acceptance.
- [23:21]Anelia Sadowyn: You both are dismissed.
- [23:21]Kage Kiryuu: "Thank you, Captain."
- [23:21]Roen Deneith salutes Anelia Sadowyn.
- [23:21]Roen Deneith: "Gratitude, Captain Sadowyn."
