- Today, I turned 15 years old, and it is a day that I can never forget. It was a beautiful afternoon in
- August; the sun was shining brightly in a clear blue sky. It was about 1 o'clock in the afternoon, and the
- weather outside was beautiful, so I decided that I'd go to the park and relax. I pulled out my phone and
- saw that it was almost dead, so I plugged it in and placed it on top of my desk before I made my way
- outside.
- Before I made my way outside, I grabbed a cold can of A & W root beer from the fridge and chugged it,
- and then tossed the empty can in the recycling. Before I went outside I checked to see how full the trash
- can was and decided that it was time to take it out. I went to the living room and told my mom that after
- I took out the trash I'd be going to the park. When she told me it was fine, I made my way back to the
- kitchen and took out the trash.
- When I finished doing that, I began my long walk to the park. Since the distance from my house to the
- park is 25 minutes long, it gives me a lot of time to think to myself. Today, I decided to think about a
- story my friend had shown me the other day. It was about this kid our age who went missing and how
- his abduction was linked to the death of a single father and his only son. From what I recall, it was really
- gruesome, and it gave me the chills when I thought about it.
- Oh how time flies. While I was thinking about the story from the other day, it appears I had almost made
- it to the park. When I arrived at the entrance, I could hear the sounds of children happily playing in the
- distance, and the sound of birds chirping in a nearby tree. Although when I looked up in the sky I noticed
- that clouds were starting to form, but they hadn't blocked out the sun, so it was still fairly bright out. I
- looked at my watch to check the time, it was ten of two.
- I made my way to a nearby bench and plopped down. "It's nice to go outside and smell the fresh air
- every once in a while," I thought to myself. Without even realizing it, I had fallen asleep while sitting on
- the bench. When I wake up from my little nap I check the time and I notice that it's 25 after 4. I can't
- believe that I was asleep for 2 hours. When I get up to stretch my legs, I notice that my neck is really
- sore, curse these benches. I look around and I notice that the sky is completely filled with clouds now,
- "It's definitely going to rain soon," I muttered to myself.
- I look around and notice that the park is deserted but that's when I hear it. In the distance, I can hear
- the cries of a child, which isn't a good sign. Since I'm the oldest of 5 siblings, I know that something had
- to have happened for them to cry like that. So I make my way towards the source of the cries, and stop.
- I see a pool of blood, and a body, and that's when I ran to see what happened. When I make it to the
- source of the blood, I notice that the child is shaking the man whose blood covered the sidewalk.
- I take a closer look and I can see that the man has been stabbed. He was stabbed multiple times in the
- stomach, and then finally in the heart, with the knife not far from his body. When the child finally
- noticed me, he kept telling me over and over that his dad was sleeping and that he was trying to wake
- him up. But I knew that he was most likely dead. To be on the safe side, I checked his pulse. I pull my
- hand away quickly once my fingers touch his skin, he's stone cold. When I try again and actually take his
- pulse, I now that he's definitely dead.
- I reach for my back pocket to grab my phone when I realized that I didn’t have it on me; it was at home
- charging on my desk right now. I glance down at my wrist to check the time, it was almost 5 o’clock. It
- was starting to get really late, so I decided that I’d stay until 6 o’clock, before I’d finally make my way
- home. So, I told the child that I’ll be back soon. I decided that the best thing to do in this situation would
- be to get helps. So I searched the park for someone that could help me, but I couldn’t find a single
- person. I look around the park, not once, not twice, but three times to look for someone who could
- help.
- But to no avail, nobody was around. It was as if everyone had upped and vanished while I had slept on
- the bench. Since the park was so full of life before I had fallen asleep, but now it’s devoid of life and now
- there’s a dead body. I decide to head back to where the child and the body of his dead father were, and
- as I make my way towards it, I realize that the child isn’t making any sounds. Which I found peculiar
- since it’s only been 20 minutes, and I doubt he wouldn’t be making any noises by now. So I quicken my
- pace, and that’s when I stopped dead in my tracks.
- “What in the bloody hell just happened? I knew for a fact they were here!” I yell in frustration!
- It was as if nothing had happened at all. Where the body of the boy’s dead father should’ve been was
- completely empty. What was even stranger was the fact that there was no longer any blood to be seen,
- it wasn’t as if it was cleaned up, but as if all traces of it had disappeared. The blood that was on sidewalk
- didn’t even leave a stain. But the child, the child had vanished as well, it was if all traces of this murder
- were erased completely, with me being the only witness to these events.
- I decide that I’ll start searching for the child at least, since people just can’t disappear without a trace,
- right? I spend a good solid 20 minutes searching the park for the child, but I couldn’t find him anyway. It
- was as if he never even existed in the first place. I check my watch and it’s already 6:15, I need to get
- home as fast as I can. Just as I make my way home it finally starts raining, I knew I should’ve checked the
- forecast before I left home today.
- It’s only a light drizzle, so I decided to walk at my usual pace on my way home, contemplating on what
- just happened. When I was almost halfway home it finally decided to start pouring rain, and I made a
- quick decision; in order to get not as drenched, I’d run the rest of the way home. But this backfired on
- me, and when I finally arrived at my doorstep I was drenched from head to toe. Not only were my
- clothes soaked, but sweat was pouring down my face and I was wheezing. I definitely need to get more
- exercise, I thought to myself.
- When I opened the door, I kicked off my shoes and made my way towards the bathroom. I decided that
- instead of taking a shower like I usually do, I’d take a bath instead. Since I’m freezing, and I need some
- time to actually think to myself, a lot has happened today. I start to draw my bath water when I check to
- see if there were any towels in the bathroom, but sadly, there wasn’t. I head towards my room in my
- wet clothes, but my sister stops me just as I’m about to open my door.
- “What have you been doing all afternoon, and why are you soaking wet?” she asked, with a hint of
- annoyance.”
- “I was at the park and I ended up falling asleep, and when I woke up I hurried home, but it started
- raining as I was leaving the park. When I was halfway home, it started raining cats and dogs, so I ran the
- rest of the way.” I replied, making sure to leave out the part about the murder.
- “Humph.” My sister huffed before she went downstairs to grab something to eat from the kitchen.
- After my annoying little sister I finally opened my door and I entered my room and made my way
- towards my desk. I make my way towards my desk to unplug my phone, since it ought to be fully
- charged by now, and I noticed that my friend sent me an email; I decide to check it later because I have
- things to do, like getting clean. I go to my dresser and take out a clean set of pajamas and underwear
- and set them out on my bed.
- As I was making my way towards my closet I heard something, although I wasn’t entirely sure what it
- was exactly. So I stopped moving, and covered my mouth in order to reduce any noises that would
- interfere. That’s when I heard it, it was a sound similar to that of water dripping from a faucet, so I listen
- closely and I realize that it’s coming from my closet.
- I continue towards my closet and I notice that the carpet around it is soaked, but I don’t pay too much
- attention towards it. I open up my closet door and I immediately scramble away from the closet. Before
- I knew it I was backed up against the wall as I looked in horror at what my closet contained. There,
- hanging in the closet was the body of the young boy from earlier, stabbed dozens of times; with blood
- stains soaked into the wood.
