  1. Today, I turned 15 years old, and it is a day that I can never forget. It was a beautiful afternoon in
  2.
  3. August; the sun was shining brightly in a clear blue sky. It was about 1 o'clock in the afternoon, and the
  4.
  5. weather outside was beautiful, so I decided that I'd go to the park and relax. I pulled out my phone and
  6.
  7. saw that it was almost dead, so I plugged it in and placed it on top of my desk before I made my way
  8.
  9. outside.
  10.
  11. Before I made my way outside, I grabbed a cold can of A & W root beer from the fridge and chugged it,
  12.
  13. and then tossed the empty can in the recycling. Before I went outside I checked to see how full the trash
  14.
  15. can was and decided that it was time to take it out. I went to the living room and told my mom that after
  16.
  17. I took out the trash I'd be going to the park. When she told me it was fine, I made my way back to the
  18.
  19. kitchen and took out the trash.
  20.
  21. When I finished doing that, I began my long walk to the park. Since the distance from my house to the
  22.
  23. park is 25 minutes long, it gives me a lot of time to think to myself. Today, I decided to think about a
  24.
  25. story my friend had shown me the other day. It was about this kid our age who went missing and how
  26.
  27. his abduction was linked to the death of a single father and his only son. From what I recall, it was really
  28.
  29. gruesome, and it gave me the chills when I thought about it.
  30.
  31. Oh how time flies. While I was thinking about the story from the other day, it appears I had almost made
  32.
  33. it to the park. When I arrived at the entrance, I could hear the sounds of children happily playing in the
  34.
  35. distance, and the sound of birds chirping in a nearby tree. Although when I looked up in the sky I noticed
  36.
  37. that clouds were starting to form, but they hadn't blocked out the sun, so it was still fairly bright out. I
  38.
  39. looked at my watch to check the time, it was ten of two.
  40.
  41. I made my way to a nearby bench and plopped down. "It's nice to go outside and smell the fresh air
  42.
  43. every once in a while," I thought to myself. Without even realizing it, I had fallen asleep while sitting on
  44.
  45. the bench. When I wake up from my little nap I check the time and I notice that it's 25 after 4. I can't
  46.
  47. believe that I was asleep for 2 hours. When I get up to stretch my legs, I notice that my neck is really
  48.
  49. sore, curse these benches. I look around and I notice that the sky is completely filled with clouds now,
  50.
  51. "It's definitely going to rain soon," I muttered to myself.
  52.
  53. I look around and notice that the park is deserted but that's when I hear it. In the distance, I can hear
  54.
  55. the cries of a child, which isn't a good sign. Since I'm the oldest of 5 siblings, I know that something had
  56.
  57. to have happened for them to cry like that. So I make my way towards the source of the cries, and stop.
  58.
  59. I see a pool of blood, and a body, and that's when I ran to see what happened. When I make it to the
  60.
  61. source of the blood, I notice that the child is shaking the man whose blood covered the sidewalk.
  62.
  63. I take a closer look and I can see that the man has been stabbed. He was stabbed multiple times in the
  64.
  65. stomach, and then finally in the heart, with the knife not far from his body. When the child finally
  66.
  67. noticed me, he kept telling me over and over that his dad was sleeping and that he was trying to wake
  68.
  69. him up. But I knew that he was most likely dead. To be on the safe side, I checked his pulse. I pull my
  70.
  71. hand away quickly once my fingers touch his skin, he's stone cold. When I try again and actually take his
  72.
  73. pulse, I now that he's definitely dead.
  74.
  75. I reach for my back pocket to grab my phone when I realized that I didn’t have it on me; it was at home
  76.
  77. charging on my desk right now. I glance down at my wrist to check the time, it was almost 5 o’clock. It
  78.
  79. was starting to get really late, so I decided that I’d stay until 6 o’clock, before I’d finally make my way
  80.
  81. home. So, I told the child that I’ll be back soon. I decided that the best thing to do in this situation would
  82.
  83. be to get helps. So I searched the park for someone that could help me, but I couldn’t find a single
  84.
  85. person. I look around the park, not once, not twice, but three times to look for someone who could
  86.
  87. help.
  88.
  89. But to no avail, nobody was around. It was as if everyone had upped and vanished while I had slept on
  90.
  91. the bench. Since the park was so full of life before I had fallen asleep, but now it’s devoid of life and now
  92.
  93. there’s a dead body. I decide to head back to where the child and the body of his dead father were, and
  94.
  95. as I make my way towards it, I realize that the child isn’t making any sounds. Which I found peculiar
  96.
  97. since it’s only been 20 minutes, and I doubt he wouldn’t be making any noises by now. So I quicken my
  98.
  99. pace, and that’s when I stopped dead in my tracks.
  100.
  101. “What in the bloody hell just happened? I knew for a fact they were here!” I yell in frustration!
  102.
  103. It was as if nothing had happened at all. Where the body of the boy’s dead father should’ve been was
  104.
  105. completely empty. What was even stranger was the fact that there was no longer any blood to be seen,
  106.
  107. it wasn’t as if it was cleaned up, but as if all traces of it had disappeared. The blood that was on sidewalk
  108.
  109. didn’t even leave a stain. But the child, the child had vanished as well, it was if all traces of this murder
  110.
  111. were erased completely, with me being the only witness to these events.
  112.
  113. I decide that I’ll start searching for the child at least, since people just can’t disappear without a trace,
  114.
  115. right? I spend a good solid 20 minutes searching the park for the child, but I couldn’t find him anyway. It
  116.
  117. was as if he never even existed in the first place. I check my watch and it’s already 6:15, I need to get
  118.
  119. home as fast as I can. Just as I make my way home it finally starts raining, I knew I should’ve checked the
  120.
  121. forecast before I left home today.
  122.
  123. It’s only a light drizzle, so I decided to walk at my usual pace on my way home, contemplating on what
  124.
  125. just happened. When I was almost halfway home it finally decided to start pouring rain, and I made a
  126.
  127. quick decision; in order to get not as drenched, I’d run the rest of the way home. But this backfired on
  128.
  129. me, and when I finally arrived at my doorstep I was drenched from head to toe. Not only were my
  130.
  131. clothes soaked, but sweat was pouring down my face and I was wheezing. I definitely need to get more
  132.
  133. exercise, I thought to myself.
  134.
  135. When I opened the door, I kicked off my shoes and made my way towards the bathroom. I decided that
  136.
  137. instead of taking a shower like I usually do, I’d take a bath instead. Since I’m freezing, and I need some
  138.
  139. time to actually think to myself, a lot has happened today. I start to draw my bath water when I check to
  140.
  141. see if there were any towels in the bathroom, but sadly, there wasn’t. I head towards my room in my
  142.
  143. wet clothes, but my sister stops me just as I’m about to open my door.
  144.
  145. “What have you been doing all afternoon, and why are you soaking wet?” she asked, with a hint of
  146.
  147. annoyance.”
  148.
  149. “I was at the park and I ended up falling asleep, and when I woke up I hurried home, but it started
  150.
  151. raining as I was leaving the park. When I was halfway home, it started raining cats and dogs, so I ran the
  152.
  153. rest of the way.” I replied, making sure to leave out the part about the murder.
  154.
  155. “Humph.” My sister huffed before she went downstairs to grab something to eat from the kitchen.
  156.
  157. After my annoying little sister I finally opened my door and I entered my room and made my way
  158.
  159. towards my desk. I make my way towards my desk to unplug my phone, since it ought to be fully
  160.
  161. charged by now, and I noticed that my friend sent me an email; I decide to check it later because I have
  162.
  163. things to do, like getting clean. I go to my dresser and take out a clean set of pajamas and underwear
  164.
  165. and set them out on my bed.
  166.
  167. As I was making my way towards my closet I heard something, although I wasn’t entirely sure what it
  168.
  169. was exactly. So I stopped moving, and covered my mouth in order to reduce any noises that would
  170.
  171. interfere. That’s when I heard it, it was a sound similar to that of water dripping from a faucet, so I listen
  172.
  173. closely and I realize that it’s coming from my closet.
  174.
  175. I continue towards my closet and I notice that the carpet around it is soaked, but I don’t pay too much
  176.
  177. attention towards it. I open up my closet door and I immediately scramble away from the closet. Before
  178.
  179. I knew it I was backed up against the wall as I looked in horror at what my closet contained. There,
  180.
  181. hanging in the closet was the body of the young boy from earlier, stabbed dozens of times; with blood
  182.
  183. stains soaked into the wood.
