  3. 18:54 AltF5K The Kiwi has scored 5 podiums in a row, but is still looking for his first Formula 5000 win
  4. 18:55 AltF5K Will today be the day?
  5. 18:55 AltF5K The lights are off and away we go!
  6. 18:56 AltF5K Evans gets a terrible getaway, but goes last of the late brakers into turn 1 and takes the lead!
  7. 18:56 AltF5K BIG CRASH!
  8. 18:56 AltF5K We've got cars scattered everywhere at turn 1!
  9. 18:57 AltF5K Aaron Watson has drilled the back of Shae Davies hard on the run to turn 1
  10. 18:57 AltF5K And the midfield scatters to avoid the carnage
  11. 18:58 AltF5K Watson, Davies and Renee Gracie are all out
  12. 18:59 AltF5K And we have more cars off at turn 13!
  13. 18:59 AltF5K McLaughlin and Premat have collided!
  14. 18:59 AltF5K As has Lloyd and Stanaway!
  15. 18:59 AltF5K It's absolute pandemonium here at Albert Park!

  19. 19:00 AltF5K Stanaway is 4th from Heimgartner, Tim Blanchard, Kayra Clifton, Brenton Grove, Adelaide Voeckler and Jordan Lloyd
  20. 19:01 AltF5K AND THAT'S ROGERS!
  21. 19:01 AltF5K The transmission has let go in a big way at turn 8!
  22. 19:02 AltF5K STANAWAY!
  23. 19:02 AltF5K He's off the road at 13 trying to overtake Heimgartner for 3rd!
  24. 19:02 AltF5K And Scotty Pye's come together with Jordan Lloyd at the back end of the top 10!
  25. 19:02 AltF5K It's absolute amateur hour out there
  26. 19:03 AltF5K There were several faster cars well out of position after race 1, but nobody could have predicted this
  27. 19:03 AltF5K Evans meanwhile is over three seconds to the good on lap 3 of 19
  28. 19:04 AltF5K Amongst all the mayhem, Tim Blanchard is now up to an incredible 4th place
  29. 19:04 AltF5K But Clifton's closing on him at a vast rate of knots!
  30. 19:05 AltF5K Further back, we have a massive scrap for 8th between Adelaide Voeckler, Lee Holdsworth and Benji Foster-Thompson
  31. 19:05 AltF5K Holdsworth gets the move done cleanly into 1
  32. 19:05 AltF5K As Stanaway gives John Muirhead similar treatment for 11th
  33. 19:06 AltF5K Foster-Thompson attempts a move on Voeckler into 9
  34. 19:06 AltF5K But just can't get it done
  35. 19:07 AltF5K A furious Scotty Mac is also making progress through the field, overtaking Tan with extreme prejudice
  36. 19:07 AltF5K Heimgartner meanwhile is the first to stop from 3rd place
  37. 19:07 AltF5K And rejoins in 12th ahead of Scotty Mac
  38. 19:08 AltF5K Brenton Grove has been running in 5th for much of proceedings so far
  39. 19:08 AltF5K But he's now under threat of losing it to Belcher
  40. 19:08 AltF5K Lee Holdsworth pits from 7th
  41. 19:09 AltF5K Followed by Stanaway and Robertson
  42. 19:09 AltF5K And Scotty Pye
  43. 19:09 AltF5K Grove!
  44. 19:09 AltF5K His inexperience shows, as he throws it off the road at turn 1 while under pressure from Belcher
  45. 19:10 AltF5K Heimgartner meanwhile is wasting little time mowing his way through cars
  46. 19:10 AltF5K As he overtakes Muirhead and sets his sights on Voeckler
  47. 19:10 AltF5K Adelaide Voeckler is still trucking along nicely
  48. 19:11 AltF5K And is somehow up to 6th with a huge train of cars behind her
  49. 19:11 AltF5K Heimgartner is desperately looking for a way past
  50. 19:11 AltF5K And Muirhead, Scotty Mac and Grove are keeping watching brief
  51. 19:12 AltF5K CRASHU!
  52. 19:12 AltF5K Heimgartner and Voeckler both run off the road at turn 1
  53. 19:12 AltF5K And Grove has nowhere to go but into the side of his Nesia teammate!
  54. 19:12 AltF5K PREMAT!
  55. 19:12 AltF5K HE'S IN THE WALL AT THREE!
  56. 19:12 AltF5K And it looks like Weiron Tan was involved in that one as well
  57. 19:13 AltF5K And Voeckler finally runs out of talent in the turn 9 gravel trap
  58. 19:13 AltF5K As Belcher pits from 5th
  59. 19:14 AltF5K Evans meanwhile has an 8 second lead on lap 8 of 19
  60. 19:14 AltF5K Simpson in 2nd has 30 seconds on Blanchard
  61. 19:14 AltF5K Which goes to show just how silly this race has been
  62. 19:15 AltF5K The top four of Evans, Simpson, Blanchard and Kayra Clifton are all yet to stop
  63. 19:15 AltF5K Belcher is the first of those who have in 5th
  64. 19:15 AltF5K But he is a minute 10 behind the leader Evans and of no threat to him
  65. 19:16 AltF5K Benji Foster-Thompson meanwhile is up to P6 with Holdsworth and Pye for company
  66. 19:16 AltF5K Stanaway and McLaughlin round out the top 10
  67. 19:16 AltF5K Belcher is absolutely flying on new rubber at the moment
  68. 19:17 AltF5K He's making time hand over fist over Clifton and Blanchard in the battle for third
  69. 19:17 AltF5K And it looks like the Leketus crew are getting ready for a stop
  70. 19:18 AltF5K Blanchard has 23 seconds in hand over Belcher
  71. 19:18 AltF5K As we cut to Pye putting a clean move on Holdsworth for 7th
  72. 19:19 AltF5K And Blanchard's in from third
  73. 19:19 AltF5K And he rejoins in 5th, a long way behind Belcher
  74. 19:20 AltF5K And in comes our leader Evans
  75. 19:20 AltF5K Simpson stays out for another lap
  76. 19:20 AltF5K Evans rejoins in 2nd after a clean stop
  77. 19:21 AltF5K As Premat bullies Voeckler to submission over 16th and 17th position
  78. 19:21 AltF5K And Scotty Pye's had *another* incident
  79. 19:21 AltF5K This time with Benji Foster-Thompson down at turn 13
  80. 19:22 AltF5K Simpson pits for his mandatory stop
  81. 19:22 AltF5K Which will give the lead back to Evans
  82. 19:22 AltF5K As we believe Erebus are also getting ready to bring Clifton in
  83. 19:23 AltF5K The question is whether she'll stay ahead of her teammate Holdsworth in 6th
  84. 19:24 AltF5K And the answer to that is no
  85. 19:24 AltF5K As she rejoins in 7th behind Stanaway
  86. 19:24 AltF5K But on fresh rubber
  87. 19:24 AltF5K Michael Robertson meanwhile has another early shower
  88. 19:24 AltF5K With another transmission failure being the cause
  89. 19:25 AltF5K McLaughlin tries a move on Clifton
  90. 19:25 AltF5K And ends up in the turn 9 gravel trap for his troubles
  91. 19:26 AltF5K Incredibly, Clifton is now catching Stanaway and Holdsworth hand-over-fist with new tyres
  92. 19:28 AltF5K Muirhead meanwhile has a dive on Foster-Thompson into 1
  93. 19:28 AltF5K And takes 8th position from him
  94. 19:28 AltF5K Clifton's all over the back of Stanaway for 6th now
  95. 19:28 AltF5K Many have questioned her talents in an open-wheel car of this much power
  96. 19:29 AltF5K But she's really come of age this afternoon with a maturity that many others have failed to display
  97. 19:29 AltF5K Clifton has a lunge into 1
  98. 19:29 AltF5K And makes the move stick!

  101. 19:29 AltF5K She now has her sights firmly set on teammate Holdsworth
  102. 19:30 AltF5K Evans meanwhile leads by just over 13 seconds with 3 laps to go

  106. 19:31 AltF5K Further back meanwhile, Scotty Pye is all over Jordan Lloyd for 11th place

  113. 19:32 AltF5K And have the leader Evans bearing down on them at a vast rate of knots
  114. 19:33 AltF5K And Lloyd's off the road at 13, dropping two spots as a result
  115. 19:33 AltF5K Triple 8 bring Premat in for a second stop
  116. 19:33 AltF5K Presumably in an attempt to steal the point for fastest lap
  117. 19:34 AltF5K Evans meanwhile is halfway around the final lap, but has traffic to contend with
  118. 19:34 AltF5K First up is McLaughlin
  119. 19:34 AltF5K Who, like many of the front runners, has had a terrible showing
  120. 19:35 AltF5K Clifton's charge seems to be over
  121. 19:35 AltF5K And she now has to defend 6th from Stanaway for one final tour
  122. 19:35 AltF5K Mitch Evans however has no such dramas
  123. 19:35 AltF5K As he crosses the line to WIN IN MELBOURNE!
  124. 19:35 AltF5K Dave Simpson comes home in 2nd position
  125. 19:36 AltF5K And in third place, in what is one of the true shock results of the season, will be Seamus Belcher in the STKR car
  126. 19:36 AltF5K He's so far behind that only now is he at the final corner
