  1. I have installed backbox ( ubuntu ) on my lenovo ideapad Z500 ( with UEFI ) along side with preloaded windows 8 on the same HDD, different partition. I disabled UEFI and secure boot and switched to legacy mode. Now, when I boot, I get grub by default and from it I can find the windows entry but cant boot into it ( as it is a UEFI system). So I have to go to boot options while start up and select windows boot loader. But sometimes, I wont be able to get boot options or BIOS.
  2. I will have to boot into ubuntu and reboot to get the bios menu.
  3. This did not cause much trouble for e because I was OK with this ( #UEFI )

  5. Now, I am facing a problem. I am getting a grub rescue prompt while booting. So, I am not able to boot into ubuntu. As I am not able to boot into ubuntu first, I am not able to get the boot options or the BIOS menu to select windows boot loader or set UEFI boot. I have disabled USB boot and CD boot and so, I am not able to boot any OS.
  6. What is the solution to this problem?
