  1. Jul 23 21:29:08 <Knave> The entrance of Alphard Hall is graced by Austin's barging in once again, green blazer flapping, the little ticket reading "PRESS" in sharpie merrily poking out of the breast pocket. "Hey," He smiles to the receptionist, "Me again, Austin Silver with the Enquiror." He slides up to the desk and leans on it, "I was wondering if I could get a word with Ms. Fox, for an article?"
  2. Jul 23 21:31:42 <Nemi> The receptionist is a pale young woman with black hair, nicely dressed all in a blue dress and sweater, and she seems rather surprised at how.. Smooth he is. Someone's not met the Sultan of Smooth, clearly. Her nametag reads "Amy". "Erm- ah, sure? I'll see if she's free..." The girl picks up her intercom phone, taps at the top of the speeddial, and waits a moment. ".. Yes, ma'am. I have an Austin Silver here, asking to see you?" Pause. "It's for an article." Pause. ".. Okay!" She sets the phone down and smiles. "Feel free to head on up, mister Silver!"
  3. Jul 23 21:34:11 <Knave> He takes a half-step back and bows slightly, "Much obliged, Amy." Then flashes her a smile before departing. The Head Mistress' office can't be that hard to find, he reasons, and sure enough he only has to take a few wrong turns before he finds the right door and, forgetting professionalism for a moment, knocks a shave-and-a-haircut rhythm against it.
  4. Jul 23 21:37:57 <Nemi> And indeed, up to the third floor, past the big wide Alphard Hall stairway, to the faculty special section. The big double-doors labeled HEADMISTRESS: KATHERINE FOX loom ahead, and at the knock, he gets a "Come in!" Cheerful tones, faint accent that might be English, or might be from upstate New York. Hard to tell.
  5. Jul 23 21:41:06 <Knave> Austin slips into the room like only Austin can, then glides across the floor towards her with hand extended to shake, brightly smiling, "Austin Silver, writer for the Enquirer. I don't think I've yet had the pleasure."
  6. Jul 23 21:45:57 <Nemi> The room itself is fairly nicely sized, with plentiful photographs on the broad wooden desk or in the well-stocked bookshelves lining the walls. The far wall, however, is dominated by a broad window overlooking the campus proper, screened by gauzy curtains that flutter in an unfelt breeze. It's pleasant in the room, moreso with the fireplace gently rumbling in the corner. Austin may notice a Madeline Maddox featuring in a few of the photos, which otherwise seem to be frequently Fox herself in various places around the world, posing with a variety of people- scientists, soldiers, you name it. More interesting are the photographs dating back to, going by the pen in the corner, 1947- one shot of Miss Fox in vintage clothing, arm and arm with a tall, granite-jawed soldier with heavy tattoos, standing before the Eiffel Tower. Miss Fox herself is a modestly-dressed, freckle-dusted redheaded woman of indeterminate age, and she smiles at Austin as she reaches over the desk to take his hand. "Mister Silver. So good to properly meet you. Care for tea, water?"
  7. Jul 23 21:50:15 <Knave> "I'm good, but thanks. I don't plan to take up too much of your time." He produces a notepad and pen from his jacket as he sits down across the desk, "I'm writing an article about Jon and Cin's wedding, I understand you're taking some responsibility for arranging things on the legal side?"
  8. Jul 23 21:55:20 <Nemi> "Ah!" Miss Fox smiles wider. It's strange, how it doesn't quite meet her left cheek, like her mouth just doesn't move on that side. "And that I am. As the school's the guardians for both Jon and Cindaria, it was up to us to appeal for the marriage license with the town for them. Which I was happy to do- they've been committed and in a wonderful relationship for many, many months now, and they're of age."
  9. Jul 23 21:57:43 <Knave> "Hey, you smile like I do." Austin says, demonstrated how his grin has a tendency to pull noticeably further on the left side, then he remembers that he's here in an interviewing capacity and looks at his notebook while he jots down key details, "Right. So, obviously, /you/ don't see a problem with two teenagers who haven't been dating for a full year getting married. What would you say to those who do?"
  10. Jul 23 22:01:14 <Nemi> "That's a difficult question, and one I'm sure you're hoping for controversy with. Simply put? The two of them are of age, and where appropriate, we're trying to treat students as adults, with the responsibility- and self determination- that implies. In short? It's up to them."
  11. Jul 23 22:04:30 <Knave> "Well, I wouldn't have minded a little controversy," Austin says as he notes the important words. He liked how she worded it, "But I'll take a sensible attitude if there's none forthcoming." His grin almost evens out, "With controversy in mind, what would you say to other students who might be interested in marrying before they graduate?"
  12. Jul 23 22:07:33 <Nemi> Miss Fox laughs, softly. "Well! If I were to advise anyone? I'd prrrrobably say, 'ask your parents', or 'reeeeally give this some thought', or some combination of the two!" She reaches over a moment to pick up a coffeecup and take a long sip from its contents before continuing. "In short, I'd say.. Think about it. Think about where your future might go from there and how marriage might affect it. It's a big move, legally and socially, and I want our students to be sure they're up for it."
  13. Jul 23 22:09:34 <Knave> Austin taps his pen against his notepad with a jovial smile, "Y'know, Miss Fox, this is gonna be a dull article if all I've got are moony seventeen year-olds and a perfectly sensible authority figure.
  14. Jul 23 22:13:14 <Nemi> "Well, I'm terribly sorry to disappoint! Maybe I should call Kelly in, have her say something incendiary.." Miss Fox clearly gives that some thought, then shakes her head. Naaah.
  15. Jul 23 22:15:48 <Knave> "Okay, fluff piece it is." He smirks, clearly finding Fox's company surprisingly agreeable, "So with that in mind, will you or a representative of the staff be attending the wedding, and is there anything you'd like to say to the happy couple?"
  16. Jul 23 22:17:01 <Nemi> "Well- I daresay /someone/ on-staff will be present, if just to wish them well and show some support! I know I'd like to be there.. As for what I'd like to say to them? I'd like to wish them both well, here at the Sanctum and beyond." So diplomatic.
  17. Jul 23 22:19:05 <Knave> "Well, thank you very much, Ms. Fox." He smiles, and puts away his notepad in his jacket and his pen behind his ear, "It won't set the page alight, but I can't fault your Headmistressing on this one." He nods at one of the photographs, "So, you know Mads, huh? Just curious."
  18. Jul 23 22:23:04 <Nemi> "Great-granddaughter, actually," Fox says with a goofy smile. It's- not quite as goofy as Mads', but it's recognizable. Must be where she got it. "I've had to be very careful to not get involved because you can be sure I'd be swayed by her being her."
  19. Jul 23 22:24:52 <Knave> "Well, you've got a great great-grandd-" Austin pauses, then tilts his head and lowers and eyebrow, "/Great-granddaughter/?" His disbelieving eyes look over Fox, "Are you sure you don't mean, like... niece?"
  20. Jul 23 22:26:42 <Nemi> "Mmhm." Fox smiles shyly. "I'm pretty old, mister Silver. Sorry to disappoint."
  21. Jul 23 22:28:09 <Knave> "Not disappointed." He says, beginning to blush a touch, "Impressed. You look-" He adjusts for relative appropriateness, "You don't look a day over thirty." He exhales heavily and points back over his shoulder with a thumb, "I should have left a few sentences ago, I think?"
  22. Jul 23 22:32:09 <Nemi> Fox laughs, bringing a hand up to cover her mouth. "Well, /thank/ you for saying, then! And good afternoon to you, mister Silver. I'll look forward to seeing your next article!"
  23. Jul 23 22:33:28 <Knave> "Thanks," He chirps, standing up, "And thank you for your time." He bows as he slides backwards towards the door, then slips out with a salute.
  24. Jul 23 22:38:49 <Nemi> Miss Fox waves placidly as he goes. Once he's gone? Well, back to work. The work of a headmistress never ends.
