Long story short, back in summer 2015 Microsoft pushed an update of extras+info which changed that registry key. My tool can write and access pretty much all keys but 1% of them are restricted, so I'm using a library made by VCFan which allows accessing and writing to restricted registry keys using NDTK, the update Microsoft pushed installed a slimed down NDTK which can't edit restricted keys anymore.
