[2011-01-27 17::33:48] Doink: [LOCATION: EVA TEST CAGE 3]
[2011-01-27 17::34:26] Doink: Despite the looming threat overhead, the work deep underneath Arkham never ceases.
[2011-01-27 17::35:29] Doink: You and Unit 01 have been brought down to a test cage. A common occurrenceâ as the science teams are constantly refining the thousands of systems and subsystems that make up the Evangelions, and as the prototype Unit 01 is their favorite test bed.
[2011-01-27 17::37:30] Doink: You are synced, and standing in the middle of the large, white-walled room. There is about enough space for your Eva to walk five paces or so in any direction. Ahead, through a small viewing window, you can see technicians beginning to run their tests. All you have to do is wait, and occasionally move something as the techs direct.
[2011-01-27 17::39:00] Mia_al-Misiri: sits comfortably. She waves to the technicians!
[2011-01-27 17::39:47] Doink: A few wave back. They're used to this sort of thing.
[2011-01-27 17::40:07] Doink: Your comm clicks. "Mia, try moving your left arm again?"
[2011-01-27 17::40:25] Mia_al-Misiri: smiles to herself as the wave back. She waves energetically again.
[2011-01-27 17::40:29] Mia_al-Misiri: "I did it!"
[2011-01-27 17::42:03] Doink: "Good, we got the feedback response this time. Now try the left arm."
[2011-01-27 17::42:12] Doink: *right arm
[2011-01-27 17::43:11] Mia_al-Misiri: stops waving, puts her Eva's left arm by its side, then flails her right arm about.
[2011-01-27 17::44:01] Doink: Except it... doesn't. You can feel some sort of... resistance against its movement. It barely lifts at all.
[2011-01-27 17::45:00] Mia_al-Misiri: pouts.
[2011-01-27 17::45:05] Mia_al-Misiri: "It won't work!"
[2011-01-27 17::45:07] Mia_al-Misiri: tries again.
[2011-01-27 17::45:49] Doink: With a little more effort, it moves, but slowly and jerkily.
[2011-01-27 17::46:08] Mia_al-Misiri: "It's being weiiird."
[2011-01-27 17::46:30] Doink: "What is it... Sir, come look at this," you hear over your comm
[2011-01-27 17::48:24] Doink: "...Mia." A new voice comes over the comm. "Try to be more... forceful. Make it move."
[2011-01-27 17::48:54] Mia_al-Misiri: uses her left arm to mover her right arm. She waves limply with it.
[2011-01-27 17::49:10] Mia_al-Misiri: "Who are you?"
[2011-01-27 17::49:16] Mia_al-Misiri: sounds entirely friendly
[2011-01-27 17::49:31] Doink: The left arm, too, feels sluggish. But the two together seem to work a little better.
[2011-01-27 17::50:58] Mia_al-Misiri: frowns.
[2011-01-27 17::51:05] Mia_al-Misiri: "This isn't fun."
[2011-01-27 17::52:13] Doink: "I'm Johnson, remember? I'm heading this testing phase." Slightly quieter, like he turned away from the mic: "Someone get me the contamination values. Make sure the buffers aren't being overly restricted. And someone get the Head down here."
[2011-01-27 17::52:48] Doink: "Sorry, Mia," he says, "We're figuring out the problem. Just give us a moment."
[2011-01-27 17::53:12] Mia_al-Misiri: "Okay!"
[2011-01-27 17::53:27] Mia_al-Misiri: tries to flail her arms around more.
[2011-01-27 17::56:35] Doink: "Alright, Mia," the voice says again, as your attempts to flail become more and more difficult. "It looks like the limiters on your sync ability aren't set properly. We're going up your ability to sync just a little bit, so tell us if you become uncomfortable, alright?"
[2011-01-27 17::56:50] Mia_al-Misiri: nods.
[2011-01-27 17::57:16] Mia_al-Misiri: lets her Eva's arms drop to its sides.
[2011-01-27 17::59:54] Doink: There's a strange sensation, something like a shiver running down your spine.
[2011-01-27 18::00:32] Mia_al-Misiri: "Eeeeeeee."
[2011-01-27 18::00:42] Mia_al-Misiri: contorts a little.
[2011-01-27 18::00:45] Doink: The walls of the entry plug seem to blur.
[2011-01-27 18::00:56] Doink: "What? Are you—"
[2011-01-27 18::01:12] Doink: Unit 01 lets out a groan and stumbles forward.
[2011-01-27 18::02:06] Doink: You can feel it moving. Not of your volition, but the sensation of its movement is transmitted to you all the same.
[2011-01-27 18::02:54] Mia_al-Misiri: looks about, but at worst, put off by this.
[2011-01-27 18::02:58] Mia_al-Misiri: "It's doing a thing."
[2011-01-27 18::03:27] Doink: It begins to lift its arms, clutching at its armored chest. With it comes an odd sensation—a cold, wet feeling, somewhere inside your own.
[2011-01-27 18::03:57] Doink: "What the hell are you doing! Cut the sync!"
[2011-01-27 18::04:36] Mia_al-Misiri: looks down at herself inside the plug, at where the source of the feeing is coming from.
[2011-01-27 18::04:49] Doink: Bolts fire, and your umbilical cable falls to the metal floor with a clang. The emergency timer appears, but its numerals are scrambled, random digits and symbols counting endless nothing.
[2011-01-27 18::05:21] Doink: Your own chest looks perfectly normal in its plugsuit.
[2011-01-27 18::05:50] Doink: But Unit 01 is grasping at its chest armor, groaning and pulling on the bolts embedded deep within its flesh.
[2011-01-27 18::06:38] Mia_al-Misiri: puts her hands to her mouth and bites at her knuckles, wincing.
[2011-01-27 18::06:42] Doink: "Itsâ it's an Nth-Phase response! We have a confirmed Nth-Phase response! Unit 01 is rejecting the contamination!"
[2011-01-27 18::07:05] Mia_al-Misiri: "What is it doing?! Aaaa"
[2011-01-27 18::07:35] Doink: "Pilots vitals are being affected! Should we—"
[2011-01-27 18::07:48] Doink: "For god's sake, eject the poor girl!"
[2011-01-27 18::09:39] Doink: The sensation abruptly ends. It is replaced by a feeling of rapid acceleration as the entry plug flies backwards.
[2011-01-27 18::09:59] Doink: Then hits a wall. Then the ground.
[2011-01-27 18::10:16] Mia_al-Misiri: "AaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAaaaa."
[2011-01-27 18::10:43] Mia_al-Misiri: stops abruptly, suddenly now very dizzy.
[2011-01-27 18::11:15] Doink: The LCL buffers most of your fall. You float in darkness for a moment, the only sound a series of metallic thuds and monstrous groans.
[2011-01-27 18::11:40] Doink: Then, suddenly, light. The emergency hatch opens and LCL begins to flood out of your plug.
[2011-01-27 18::12:37] Mia_al-Misiri: lies back.
[2011-01-27 18::12:39] Mia_al-Misiri: "Mghh"
[2011-01-27 18::15:03] Doink: A head in a haz-mat suit sticks in. "Pilot is alive," it says. "Can you move?"
[2011-01-27 18::15:35] Mia_al-Misiri: rolls off the seat toward the light.
[2011-01-27 18::15:37] Mia_al-Misiri: "Yes."
[2011-01-27 18::16:44] Doink: The man clambers in to help you out of the plug.
[2011-01-27 18::16:59] Mia_al-Misiri: "Mff. What happened."
[2011-01-27 18::17:11] Mia_al-Misiri: is without her usual energy.
[2011-01-27 18::17:49] Doink: "Its complicated. Come on, lets get you out of here."
[2011-01-27 18::19:06] Mia_al-Misiri: "Okay."
[2011-01-27 18::19:19] Mia_al-Misiri: holds onto whoever this is blindly, hopefully being carried.
[2011-01-27 18::19:31] Doink: He helps you through the emergency hatch and into the waiting arms of two more technicians with a stretcher.
[2011-01-27 18::19:52] Doink: Behind them, leaning massively against the wall, covered in horrible black ichor, is Unit 01
[2011-01-27 18::20:21] Mia_al-Misiri: blinks slowly, and tumbles to the stretcher. She doesn't notice at first, but then looks up at it.
[2011-01-27 18::20:29] Mia_al-Misiri: "What did it dooo..."
[2011-01-27 18::21:19] Doink: It's slumped on its side, motionless, blood still dripping from the hole where its chest plate once was, now laying torn and discarded on the floor beside it.
[2011-01-27 18::21:53] Doink: Inside of that hole, clutched in an unmoving hand, is a sphere of shifting light.
