[18:22] <@SillyDM> Last time, our heroes enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Swallowtail festival, partaking in the time honored tradition of buying from suspicious merchants and eating food flavored with a festive atmosphere.  But suddenly, goblins attacked en masse!  What will become of our heroes?  Stay tuned to find out!
[18:24] <@SillyDM> Casimir is the first to act, rushing forward and striking a goblin down with a mighty blow
[18:25] <@SillyDM> Onryou roars aloud and begins shouting orders to the panicked civilians, helping with their escape
[18:25] * Seht grabs his bow off Mori's back, instantly sighting his targets with the skill of a practiced hunter.
[18:25] * Casimir fells the goblin with a practiced thrust, and when he withdrew his blade there was hardly a drop of the red upon it, "GET EVERYONE OUT OF HERE, NOW!" He roars, facing the horde of goblins
[18:28] <@SillyDM> Seht's arrow falls short of the group of goblins, merely drawing their ire and no blood
[18:32] <@SillyDM> Valeriya's second strike fells a goblin, though its ally remains standing
[18:34] * Valeriya shouts "GOBLIN ATTACK, GUARD TO THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS!!!"
[18:35] <@SillyDM> The goblins leap at Valeriya and Casimir, weapons and fangs bared
[18:36] <@SillyDM> One goblin brings down a wicked slash at Casimir's head which is then intercepted by another goblin that unfortunately jumped in the way.  The other two attacking him clash their weapons against each other by accident and fall to arguing instead of continuing the attack for a moment

[18:40] <@SillyDM> Valeriya, however, is not as lucky as one of the goblins sneaks around behind her, distracting her long enough for another to knock her on her back as the final goblin swings its sword down, luckily deflected by her armor.

[18:41] <@SillyDM> Corwin dashes forward and cuts down one of the goblins bearing down on Onryou and Aranha
[18:44] <@SillyDM> Aranha's charge is slightly less impressive, as the goblin both remains in one piece and standing after the strike
[18:45] * Corwin_Brin looks about with wild eyes, and almost swings at Aranha as she dashes in front of him; before grabbing a hold of himself.
[18:46] * Casimir looks cool while doing it
[18:46] <@SillyDM> Casimir lets out a mighty roar as he swings his sword in a wide arc, hitting nothing but causing at least one goblin to take a step back in surprise
[18:50] <@SillyDM> Onryou's charge strikes the goblin down, the first blow knocking it unconscious and the second finishing the job
[18:50] * Seht gives Mori a pat on the neck. "What say you?" he asks in Shoanti, foot finding the stirrup by instinct as he pulls himself up into the saddle. The horse neighs in reply, moving forward with the will of its rider as Seht fires an arrow from his bow.
[18:53] <@SillyDM> The arrow flies wide again as Seht and Mori move closer to the action
[18:55] <@SillyDM> As Valeriya stands the goblins surrounding her take swipes, entangling their blades together and squabbling.  The third, however, strikes true with a powerful blow beyond what its small stature would normally allow
[18:58] * Valeriya winces as the blow finds a gap in her armour, she instinctively swings at the goblin that struck her, but comes short of the mark
[18:59] <@SillyDM> The goblins attempt to strike, but the combination of Valeriya, Casimir, and Seht's defensive tactics prevents them from landing blows.
[19:01] <@SillyDM> The goblin attacking Aranha almost lands a blow before she nimbly steps out of the way, circling around to its side
[19:05] <@SillyDM> Corwin's strike cuts cleanly through two of the goblins attacking Valeriya
[19:09] * Corwin_Brin takes a few steps towards the mob attacking Val, and clumsily swings his blade through a goblin, before pivoting, to channel the strike's momentum into the other goblin.
[19:14] <@SillyDM> Seht raises his bow again and this time his shots fly true, striking down the last of the standing goblins
[19:14] * Seht lets loose a pair of arrows, one snapping quickly after the other, replying to Casimir's battle cry with a shout of "Lyrune! Lyrune-Quah!"
[19:15] <Casimir> "Nicely shot!"
[19:18] <Onryou> "Anyone hurt?" Onryou scans the surroundings for more goblins. still in stance.
[19:19] * Valeriya gives Corwin a nod "Thanks."
[19:19] <Casimir> "Val got hit" Casimir replied as he instantly shifted back into a more relaxed stance, looking towards his friend, "Are you hurt?"
[19:19] * Corwin_Brin 's breathing slows, and he nods to Val, while sinking to a seat on the barrel.
[19:19] * Aranha looks around the area, scattered with fallen goblins. "Sheesh..."
[19:19] <@SillyDM> Chaos has engulfed Sandpoint from the goblin attack, which isn't an isolated event.  Goblins race everywhere, slashing indiscriminately and setting whatever they can aflame.
[19:20] * Valeriya wipes away some blood, "A little, but I've had worse."
[19:20] <@SillyDM> From a nearby cart, flames alight and several goblins burst forth wielding torches and fireworks!
[19:20] * Seht wheels Mori around with his knees, keeping his bow lightly drawn. "There are more."
[19:20] <Casimir> OH GOSH
[19:20] * Corwin_Brin struggles to his feet, and draws a thin metal rod. "Get heal--"
[19:21] * Aranha whirls back around, sword at the ready.
[19:21] * Casimir half-twirls, half-pirouettes towards the new slew of foes, shifting back into his swordsman's stance
[19:28] <@SillyDM> The goblins point at the party and screech gleefully, lighting their fireworks with their torches.
[19:28] <@SillyDM> Several of the goblins light harmless firecrackers, lightly singing and deafening themselves but without any real harm done.
[19:28] <@SillyDM> Three of them, however, picked up more potent fireworks and aimed them at the party.
[19:30] <@SillyDM> Some of the smaller firecrackers also lightly singe Valeriya, but she's no worse for the wear.
[19:33] <Corwin_Brin> Muscles aching, and lungs afire, Corwin drops the wand, re-adjusts his grip on the sword, and wades into the horde.
[19:34] * Aranha dashes across the courtyard and climbs up onto the stage with speed, taking the high ground.

[19:44] <@SillyDM> Valeriya steps forward and strikes a devastating blow to the nearest goblin, her blade almost moving with a life of its own as it passes through its body and strikes the heart of the goblin behind it.
[19:45] * Valeriya mutters "vile beasts" as she kicks the corpse of the goblin off her sword
[19:47] <@SillyDM> The goblins, after seeing this display, drop their torches and draw their swords, not willing to go down without some kind of fight.
[19:49] <@SillyDM> Unfortunately, their attempt at fighting is cut short when the rockets they forgot they had set off flare to life and shoot forward, leaving trails of flame and smoke in their wake
[19:57] * Aranha fails to be discouraged at the singing she recieved, and hops down off the stage, jabbing her sword through one goblin while gashing open the face of another with her teeth.
[19:57] * Corwin_Brin utters a prayer to any being that'd listen, and cuts down another goblin. As it falls, the wound on Valeriya's back closes.
[20:03] <@SillyDM> Onryou charges at two goblins, leaping into the air with a spinning kick that completely misses, though one of her intended targets falls over anyway.
[20:07] <@SillyDM> As the last of the fighter goblins fall, the two warsingers who had been staying out of the way decide that discretion is the better part of valor (or what passes for valor for Goblins) and try to make their escape
[20:09] <@SillyDM> One manages to escape while the other is cut down by Valeriya as it turns to run
[20:10] <@SillyDM> One of the fireworks sputters out and explodes in a harmless shower of sparks, but the others continue flying around randomly
[20:10] <Onryou> Onryou, with a prayer and a wave of her hands, creates water to rain down over the fireworks.

[20:13] <@SillyDM> Though your fight has ended for now, all around you other goblins are still acting, though with different degrees of success.  One goblin throws a lit torch at a fleeing mother and child, only to have it hit another goblin on the head, another attempts to leap from a roof onto a guard and misses, hitting the ground with a crunch.
[20:14] <Onryou> Onryou is breathing heavy smiling widely, "Hows that for some after lunch exercise?"
[20:14] <@SillyDM> Father Zantus rushes to your side. "Thank you so much for helping us to fight the goblins.  Do you require any healing?  I have some left if I can be of any help."
[20:15] * Corwin_Brin will retrieve the wand of Cure Light Wounds, and begin healing anyone who is injured. "Would have prefered it happened far away from here..."
[20:15] * Aranha rubs her arm where a firework scorched her somewhat. "Eh. I'm more of a fan of an afternoon nap really..."
[20:16] <Valeriya> "Thank you Father, I think most of us are at least a little singed"
[20:16] * Seht nods, picking off another goblin. "My horse first, please."
[20:16] * Casimir delicately touches his singed arm, "the fireworks did more harm than those goblins... Are they being handled?"
[20:16] <@SillyDM> Father Zantus nods. "Alright, please gather around, all of you."
[20:17] <@SillyDM> Father Zantus meditates for a moment before raising his hand to the sky and unleashing a burst of energy that revitalizes you.
[20:17] * Onryou keeps a keen eye for any large packs of goblins while the father prepares his healing energy
[20:18] * Casimir shivers at the rush of healing energy that stitches up wounds and fills up scorched skin, "I've always hated this" Casimir mumbled to himself
[20:19] * Aranha pats her arm as the burn melts away. "I dunno, I'm a fan of not being burned."
[20:19] <Onryou> "Do you know of any large packs of the goblins still left? We're still plenty well off." Onryou looks like she doesnt know what to do with her hands
[20:21] * Seht looks around, before mumbling. "We should stick together. Work well as a group."
[20:21] <@SillyDM> "I have no idea, nor is this the time to worry about that.  Goblins attacking en mass like this is unheard of, and we must help the citizens.  Now if you excuse me, I have more wounded to attend to." he says before he rushes off to help one of the other victims.
[20:23] * Casimir taps the tip of his blade against the heel of his boot, quite unsure if the Guard's got it under control, or if he needs to go out and kill some more - nonetheless, there's a slight shakiness to his hand as he stands there
[20:24] * Aranha takes a moment and wipes some blood off her chelicerae. "Should we... get going? There's people who still need help."
[20:24] <Onryou> "Lets keep moving!" Onryou says "Plenty more where that came from." She she starts searching for more goblins to put down.
[20:24] <@SillyDM> The sounds of battle have mostly died down by now, though the occasional shrieking and singing goblin can be heard mixed with the clash of steel.  However, the sound of a scream and frantic barking comes from the north.
[20:25] * Casimir wipes the blood from his blade, and almost insctinctively runs off towards the sound of barking and screaing!
[20:25] <Casimir> screaming*
[20:25] * Valeriya follows close behind
[20:25] * Aranha blinks at the sound of the scream, then quickly follows after the other two.
[20:25] * Corwin_Brin casts a spell over a canteen of water, and begins to take a sip, nearly choking at the sound of screaming, and runs off after casimir.
[20:25] * Onryou charges on after him. "Keep em coming!"
[20:26] * Seht turns Mori around once more, setting off towards the sound, before with a quick thought he reigns the horse in until the others can keep up.
[20:26] <@SillyDM> As the party weaves through the streets toward the north gate, the sounds of frantic barking and yelling grow louder until the group finally rounds a corner and the gate comes into sight.
[20:31] * Casimir gapes at the bug-girl using a familiar-looking blade, "w-where did you get that?" He asks, barely containing his surprise
[20:31] * Aranha blinks at the unexpected question as they approach the gate. "Eh? My sword? Dad gave it to me."
[20:32] <Corwin_Brin> "What does it matter? blade 'sa blade!," he shouts back, Don't we have more important shit to worry about?"
[20:32] * Seht fingers his bowstring lightly, guiding Mori with his knees while he looks around for the source of the noises.
[20:34] <Casimir> "That there's no ordinary blade" Casimir declares, "but... It can wait - oh gods, what are those goblins *ON?*"
[20:34] <@SillyDM> At the gates a man cowers behind a nearby barrel as a goblin on the back of one of their "goblin dogs" slices the throat of the dog that had been barking, silencing it as it drops to the ground.  The goblin turns to the party and lets out a snarling command to its followers as it points its blade menacingly forward!
[20:35] <Onryou> "Doggo no!" Onryou looks heartbroken. "Now ya done it!"
[20:36] <Aranha> "If it makes you feel any better, they're pretty bad dogs."
[20:37] <Corwin_Brin> "There's no such thing! All doggos are good doggos!
[20:37] <@SillyDM> As in response to Corwin's statement, the mounted goblins charge at him
[20:39] * Corwin_Brin dodges the charging goblins with uncanny grace.
[20:42] <Onryou> Onryou's tough hide deflects the worst of the blows, while her quick senses let her dodge the rest.
[20:42] * Seht snaps a shot out, firing at the arrow midair.
[20:45] * Onryou stomps the ground and a glowing aura flares a for a moment before she attacks in all directions, taking one of the goblins out.
[20:48] * Aranha skips to the side, then quickly draws her pistol from her hip and with the loud crack of gunpowder, a goblin's head explodes.
[20:50] * Seht aims and releases, but the sudden gunfire throws off his aim. Mori skips back, startled as well.
[20:50] * Corwin_Brin chants in ancient hallit!
[20:53] <Corwin_Brin> Empowered by the battle hymns Corwin strikes! With a flash of silver, two goblins fall from their mounts.
[20:56] * Valeriya calls out to Casimir "I'll go left" and runs toward the flanking goblins
[20:56] * Valeriya runs one through with her sword and deftly slits another's throat with her off-hand blade
[20:57] * Casimir calls out in reply and rushes forward, striking in a wide arc against the goblins before him... And coming up short. Frustrated, Casimir barks out a curse in Draconic
[20:58] <@SillyDM> The two goblins in front of Casimir and Onryou hold their weapons ready, turn to look at each other, and wordlessly turn and run
[20:58] * Valeriya calls back "Watch your language, friend!" in Draconic
[21:00] <@SillyDM> The other goblins fail to make a lasting impact with their attacks
[21:01] <Casimir> "I doubt anyone else here nows how to speak this tongue!" Casimir replies to Valeriya
[21:01] <Casimir> (In Draconic, of course.)
[21:02] <Casimir> knows*
[21:02] <Casimir> (Oh man, I am *on point* with spellcheck tonight.)
[21:03] * Aranha shouts back in the same language. "I do!"
[21:03] <@SillyDM> Onryou charges the goblin commando and lays into it with a flurry of pummeling blows, knocking it unconscious in one move
[21:04] <Onryou> "The FUCK ARE YOU ALL TALKING ABOUT!" She wheels around
[21:06] <Casimir> "Speaking the tongue of our people, Onryou!" Casimir retorts, flicking some blood from his blade
[21:07] * Seht whispers in Shoanti to Mori. "Natives of the land."
[21:07] * Aranha ducks behind Corwin's goblin and puts her sword through its back. "The old man's swearing in Dragon and Val's angry at him!"
[21:08] * Corwin_Brin blocks a swing from the mounted goblin with an armored forearm. "Thanks! I would never have noticed!"
[21:10] <Onryou> "And here i thought you just took a few too many hits to the head" Onryou resets into a fighting stance.
[21:10] <@SillyDM> Corwin charges at the two fleeing goblins and cuts one of them down
[21:12] * Corwin_Brin shouts "Hey did anyone see that?! That was pretty cool, right?" As he extracts his blade from the remains of the goblin's chest cavity.
[21:13] <@SillyDM> The remaining goblin shoots what could pass for a look of regret at his fallen ally and runs for the forest
[21:13] <Onryou> "Yeah it was real impressive, now don't over extend"
[21:14] <@SillyDM> As the last of the goblins disappears, it's clear that the fight has turned in favor of the citizens of Sandpoint.  The sounds of goblins screeching as they retreat to the north can be heard in the distance, as can the rallying cries of the defenders.
[21:14] * Valeriya 's movement seems a little odd, as if she were an image distorted by a funhouse mirror. You're not sure if you're actually seeing this or if you've just taken too many blows to the head lately
[21:14] <Casimir> "It was a fine swing, good technique you had there."
[21:14] * Casimir tries to get a pin on Valeriya's location - he seems aware that it's some sort of maneuver, but he can't gather quite which one
[21:15] * Aranha flicks some blood off her sword as her other hands reload her pistol and holster it. "Coulda gone worse!"
[21:15] * Corwin_Brin looks at Val, rubs his eyes, looks again, then shrugs and drinks more wine; before offering it to the nearest person.
[21:15] * Onryou slowly moves her arms in a circular motion while inhaling, she joins her hands together above her head and lowers them slowly exhaling.
[21:15] <@SillyDM> From behind the barrel, the man who was being attacked earlier lets out a squeaky "I-is it safe?"
[21:16] <Valeriya> For now
[21:16] * Seht calms Mori, who seems to be breathing a bit hard, leaning over and looking at the others. "Hus- Yes!" he calls.
[21:16] <Casimir> "Yeah, it's safe" Casimir said calmly, sheathing his blade with a single smooth motion
[21:16] <@SillyDM> "Th-thank goodness!" says the man, emerging from the inside of the barrel he had hidden himself in.
[21:16] * Aranha draws a cloth from her pocket and starts wiping down her sword. "Seems all clear."
[21:16] <@SillyDM> "Thank you, brave heroes!  I'm certain the bards will sing songs of your great deeds done today if I have anything to say about it!  Or my name isn't Al-"
[21:16] <@SillyDM> The man is suddenly cut off by a boisterous "HEY!" from behind the group, where Ameiko is waving to them with an exhausted Father Zantus in tow
[21:17] * Aranha smiles and waves back to the inkeeper and priest.
[21:17] <Onryou> "Sis!" Onryou waves back emphatically
[21:17] * Casimir spins in place to notice the boisterous propertier of the Rusty Dragon - and Onryou's sister - racing towards them
[21:17] * Corwin_Brin waves back. "Was wondering when you'd show up! You missed all the fun."
[21:18] <@SillyDM> Ameiko runs forward and starts speaking excitedly, Father Zantus lagging behind a bit.
[21:18] <@SillyDM> "We did it!  That must have been the biggest attack in years, and we beat them all back!"
[21:18] <@SillyDM> "Well, most of them, some of them lost their nerve and decided jumping off the cliffs would be a better way to go.  Still, we did it!  And I heard from Father Zantus that you helped a lot in the plaza before the guards could get there.  You saved a lot of lives you know."
[21:18] * Onryou rushes over to Ameiko and hugs her tight
[21:18] * Aranha slowly follows after Onryou, stowing her sword.
[21:19] * Seht hops down off of Mori, using the horse as a shield to take a quick breath before emerging from behind him, reins in hand. "We're just following the stars' paths.
[21:19] <@SillyDM> "Oof, hey, quit it!  You've never been good at keeping your strength in check!"
[21:19] <Onryou> "I beg to differ, if this was the old me we would have heard a crack by now"
[21:20] <Corwin_Brin> "Dunno about that, they were smart enough to scatter when the attack started." Then he grins, "we did kill a fuckton of gobbos though."
[21:20] * Onryou releases her regarless
[21:20] * Casimir returns to using his cane for it's intended purpose, watching the genial family reunion as he added calmly to the group, "seems to me like we've got quite the group of fighters in this village."
[21:21] * Corwin_Brin notices everyone else has done so, and sheepishly sheathes his sword.
[21:21] <@SillyDM> "Well, whatever it is, it worked!" Ameiko says, breathing slightly easier after being released. "Say, why don't you all come down to the Rusty Dragon?  If you decide to stay I can even give you the 'hero' discount."
[21:21] * Valeriya claps her arm on Casimir's back "Indeed it does!"
[21:21] * Aranha thumps her chest proudly, once with each left fist.
[21:22] <Corwin_Brin> "Wait... you mean I *haven't* already been getting that discount?"
[21:22] <Onryou> "Sounds like a plan, Mei Mei" Onryou grins her tusky grin
[21:22] <@SillyDM> "Psh, that doesn't cover your tab for a week."
[21:22] * Valeriya does her best to stiffle the chuckle that Corwin's comment brought out of her
[21:22] * Aranha quietly giggles.
[21:23] <Seht> "Oh, we're not heroes. And... where would Mori stay anyway?" The horse snorts in what sounds suspiciously like disgust.
[21:23] * Casimir chuckles heartily, "Well, I think we've done enough protectin' for the day, don't you think? Let's get to drinking and maybe a little thinkin' on what this attack means."
[21:23] <@SillyDM> "Anyway, come on!  I've got a lot of leftovers to get rid of too since the festivities got cut short."
[21:23] <@SillyDM> "We've got some stables out back, nothing too fancy but I've never heard any complaints from the horses."
[21:24] * Aranha blinks, then gives a 'blugh' at the thought of more food.
[21:24] * Onryou puts an arm around Aranha "Hey free food is a rare treasure."
[21:24] * Corwin_Brin sees Val's chuckle and silently fist pumps. He finally won.
[21:25] * Aranha gives a little 'oof'. "It is possible to have too much of a good thing you know..."
[21:25] * Seht looks around before a nudge from behind reminds him that sometimes the best thing to say is. "Okay."
[21:25] <Onryou> "Only when its multiple days in a row."
[21:26] <Aranha> "Does it count if it's multiple day's worth?"
[21:26] <@SillyDM> As the group departs, the man by the gate, suddenly very alone, continues talking to himself about the heroics the party has taken part in and how he will spread their fame
[21:26] <Casimir> "That seems like a problem if it's you, Onryou" Casimir said, casually, "You make portions like a Rostlander."
[21:27] <Casimir> (Poor Nameless Citizen #5)
[21:28] <Valeriya> (His name was Al)
[21:28] * Seht follows along slightly behind and to the side of the rest of the party, pulling oats from Mori's feedbag, passing them to the horse, and nibbling on a few himself.
[21:28] <Onryou> "I've only been in the southern most tip of Bevory, so i only got a sampling of their cuisine"
[21:29] <@SillyDM> Along the way to the Rusty Dragon, a few friendly faces say a brief word of thanks before entering their homes, the toll of the sudden attack wearing heavily on the city's mood.
[21:29] <Casimir> "Aye, that's the best part!" Casimir declared, giving Onryou a nudge as he smiled at a distant memory, "I hope you had the chance to visit Restov, the jewel of Rostland and mighty holdfast of the Swordlords..."
[21:30] <Valeriya> "Oh gods, Onryou, you got him started"
[21:30] <Onryou> "They wouldn't accept my duel requests" She rubbed the back of her head smiling awkwardly
[21:31] <@SillyDM> The Rusty Dragon, though empty at the moment, has all the trappings of a traditional inn.  From the roaring fire that warms the entire room to the floor aged with blood and ale and the smell of cooking food in the back, there is very little that a traveler would not find familiar.  Ameiko leads the group upstairs and shows them the available rooms, letting them choose which they would prefer as she heads to the kitchen to prepare some of the leftover
[21:31] <@SillyDM> food from the day.
[21:31] * Aranha nods. "I've heard about that place. My dad went there once! Said he dueled a swordsman from there with his bare hands!" She smiles.
[21:31] <Onryou> "Awww!!!"
[21:31] <Onryou> "I wanted to fight one with my bare hands"
[21:31] <Onryou> "That was the whole reason i went!!"
[21:32] * Aranha rubs the back of her head. "Well... he didn't so much challenge a guy as much as he got challenged..."
[21:32] * Corwin_Brin returns his "home" in the broom-closest-sized room at the far end of the hall, changes into something less bloodstained, and rejoins the party.
[21:33] <Casimir> "A-ha, and there's a reason for that, child" Casimir bulled through Valeriya's comment, "the practices of the Swordlords are steeped in tradition and soaked in law, I'm sure Aranha's father had a reason for dueling just as you were denied." At Aranha's explanation, he nodded, "And that's the spirit of it, a Swordlord may challenge an unarmed man, but an unarmed man may not challenge a Swordlord."
[21:33] <Casimir> "Such is the way of things in the old country."
[21:33] * Seht considers hiding out in the stables as he situates Mori. A very heated, yet one-sided conversation is held between horse and boy, one which the horse wins without saying a word. Seht fixes a smile on his face as he enters the inn.
[21:34] * Onryou decends into the wine cellar where her hammock and boxes are, she changes into something a little less fighty and constricing. She darts upstairs.
[21:34] <Casimir> "Still, a Swordlord giving up his blade as ransom... Curious" Casimir pondered for a moment, and then said to Aranha, "Your father must have been quite exceptional ."
[21:34] * Aranha nods. "Well, he IS awesome, but he didn't give it as ransom..."
[21:35] * Aranha takes a seat at one of the tables. "Turns out the guy got kind of... annoyed at just being punched in the face."
[21:35] * Corwin_Brin raises a hand to Seht, and motions to an empty chair. "Don't think I ever caught your name!"
[21:35] * Casimir finds a comfy chair by the crackling fire, and sighs as he settles into it, "So your father... Took it?"
[21:36] <Onryou> "Who wants drinks?" Onryou calls out.
[21:36] <Seht> "Seht!" he responds almost on instinct, moving to take the offered seat. "Seht, of the Lyrune-Quah. And you?"
[21:36] * Casimir raises a finger, "I'll take some tea!" Casimir replied."
[21:36] * Aranha shakes her head. "Nah. To hear dad tell it, every time this guy went to hit him, dad just... grabbed it. And then hit him. This... went on for a while, apparently."
[21:37] <Corwin_Brin> "Do you even need to ask?" He turns back to Seht and offers a hand, "Corwin, pleasure to meet you."
[21:37] <Aranha> "And eventually he got so mad at dad 'not knowing how to duel', that he decided to teach him how so he could beat him properly."
[21:37] * Seht coughs, taking the offered hand, with a rather weak grip. "You and your family. And... cider?"
[21:38] <Valeriya> "I'll have my usual... you know what just bring the bottle."
[21:39] * Casimir seemed quite amused at Aranha's explanation of it, chuckling almost to himself, "Of course, of course. When you're doing it wrong you need to be taught right, even if it's a foreigner. So this Swordlord taught your father how to wield the blade, and let him keep it as a memento?"
[21:39] <Onryou> "You got it!" Onryou headed back into her domain known as the kitchen.
[21:39] * Casimir seems to be thinking, his puzzler puzzling at possibly knowing just who this Swordlord was, "did your father ever say what this Swordlord looked like?"
[21:39] * Onryou she then gathers up a few drinks, a bottle of the good stuff and a pot of the finest Tannah Tea
[21:40] <@SillyDM> "Oh Ony, could you take this?" Ameiko says as she holds out a loaded plate. "I was just about to bring it out, but since you're here and all..."
[21:40] * Corwin_Brin raps his knuckles on the table top, "So, Seht of the Lyrune-Quah, what brings you to Sandpoint?"
[21:40] <Onryou> "Oh! yeah you got it Mei Mei"
[21:41] <@SillyDM> Ameiko gives a thumbs-up before turning back to the stove
[21:41] * Onryou carries out the beverages and the plant. "Order up!"
[21:41] * Aranha nods. "More or less!" She puts her hand on her sword's pommel. "Dad never used the dang thing again, o'course, but he remembered enough to teach me. Sort of."
[21:41] <Aranha> "The rest of it I figured out on my own."
[21:41] * Casimir looks over the rail of his chair and calls out to Valeriya, "Oi! Don't be a stranger, come and share the fire with us!"
[21:42] <Seht> "It's..." Seht frowns, holding up his hands and looking at the space between the before shrugging. "Sometimes you just go. I heard about the festival, and I know Niska Mvashti, so I came." With a shrug, he walks over, grabbing Corwin's drink and his own and returning.
[21:42] * Valeriya is shook from her thoughts by Casimir's call and wordlessly joins the group by the fire
[21:42] * Casimir smiles warmly at the girl's obvious attachment to the blade, "The Dueling Sword is a finicky thing, to get as far as I've seen is... Well, if you ever need a teacher, I'd be willing to show you a thing or two about how it works" Casimir gesticulates a little, "You know, the technique."
[21:43] * Aranha nods. "Thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind."
[21:44] * Onryou walks over to Casimir and pours him a cup of tea and leaves the pot next to him. She then hands Valeriya the bottle of the good stuf. and then she leaves the plate on the table.
[21:45] <Valeriya> "I was never able to get the hang of Casimir's technique," Val says as she takes a swig from the bottle of applejack, "I guess I've always preferred a weapon with more... heft."
[21:46] * Corwin_Brin raises the glass in thanks. "If it's any consolation, there's usually not this much goblin murdering." He takes a sip, "or fire."
[21:46] * Casimir blows on his drink before giving it a delicate sip, "Bah, you've always been a wild one" Casimir said, teasing, "More interested in the hacking and carving of a knightly sword. The Dueling Blade is a delicate thing, swift and sudden. Less sword, more... Needle."
[21:46] <Onryou> "Corwin, Seht was it?, Would you like something to drink?"
[21:46] * Casimir takes another sip of his drink, "Or a brush."
[21:47] <Aranha> "I was gonna say, needles don't tend to slash..."
[21:47] <Casimir> "and have you seen dueling swords that pierce? It is one of many techniques they teach."
[21:48] * Aranha shrugs. "I dunno nothin' about piercing dueling swords."
[21:48] * Seht smiles to Onryou, giving his mug of cider a little sip. "I have already, thank you," before turning back to Corwin. "I didn't think there was. And with luck there won't be more."
[21:48] * Casimir sinks into his chair, sighing, "Maybe if I ever get my sword out and re-learn the technique, I'll teach you."
[21:49] * Corwin_Brin gestures to his drink. "Seht grabbed a couple. Although, if you're here, that does raise the of whose drinks he actually took." He notices the scorched merchant staring daggers at them from the corner of the bar, and discretely averts his gaze.
[21:49] <Aranha> "Been a little while?"
[21:50] <Casimir> "Mhm, a great long while."
[21:50] * Onryou looks quickly between the two, and then rushes off to replace the man's drinks. "One moment sir!"
[21:50] * Valeriya reaches into her sack and pulls out her journal and inkpen
[21:50] <Casimir> "I haven't used the blade since..." Casimir lets the question linger, preferring to ruminate on the memory himself
[21:51] <@SillyDM> Ameiko emerges from the kitchen with several plates in hand, filling the room with the scent of cooked salmon
[21:51] <Aranha> "Since about twenty minutes ago?"
[21:51] * Valeriya begins to sketch
[21:51] * Casimir gives Aranha a funny look, "That was a sword cane, not a dueling sword."
[21:51] <Casimir> "*Completely* different."
[21:52] * Aranha shrugs.
[21:52] <Seht> With people distracted by the arrival of food, Seht leans in, speaking in a whisper. "Corwin. I didn't get the rest of their names."
[21:52] <@SillyDM> "Here you are!  Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to get some rest.  It's been a long day, and I expect you could use some rest too."
[21:52] <@SillyDM> As Ameiko begins up the stairs, she shouts back "And don't let Corwin drink the bar dry!"
[21:52] <Onryou> "Go to bed Sis, i got things here." Onryou prodded her sister
[21:53] <Valeriya> "No promises, Mei."
[21:53] <Corwin_Brin> "Lies and slander! I would *never*."
[21:54] * Valeriya looks up from her drawing, "You would and you have."
[21:54] <Casimir> "Bah! Let the lad have his drink, he earned it."
[21:54] <Onryou> "She's implying that i wouldn't get to it first" She says
[21:55] * Casimir pours himself another cup of tea, "What are you drawing there, Val?" He asked, just a touch curious
[21:55] * Corwin_Brin leans over to Seht and begins to point out the people. "Onryou, I'm pretty sure you already know. The old guy," he points towards the chair, "is Casimir. We always wondered if he was some kinda master swordsman. Guess we know now."
[21:56] * Valeriya turns the book around to show Casimir a drawing of himself sipping his tea
[21:56] * Aranha just sits quietly, happy and smiling despite the events of the evening.
[21:56] <Onryou> "He's one of the few old people that could stop me from kicking Corwin's teeth in"
[21:56] <Valeriya> "I find it's easiest to draw you when you're enjoying a cup... it's just about the only time you're still enough to get a good sketch done"
[21:57] * Casimir uses his cup to hide the big goofy grin that's starting on his face, "Aww, I'm supposed to be the painter, not the subject."
[21:57] <Onryou> "Or any boy my age or older"
[21:57] <Corwin_Brin> "The fluffy one is... honestly can't remember. Something spider-y, Arachna? Hey--- that only happened... once, and because I let her!" He looks incredibly sincere.
[21:58] * Seht nods, though he hadn't hoped to draw attention to their little conversation. "And you're all... from here? Or hereabouts?"
[21:58] <Valeriya> "That's what makes it so satisfying to get you down on the page."
[21:58] * Onryou walks over to Aranha. "Any drinks tonight?"
[21:59] * Casimir looks at the sketch a bit more carefully, nodding at the realistic likeness, "You've got a keen eye and a steady hand, Valeriya. One of the many fine qualities about you."
[21:59] * Aranha hums for a moment. "A mead I guess!"
[22:00] <Onryou> "Born and raised!" Onryou said to Seht. She turned back to Aranha "Coming right up!"
[22:00] * Onryou goes to the back and gets the spider girl some honey liqour
[22:00] * Valeriya takes another swig from her bottle to hide the blush that has lighted across her cheeks
[22:01] * Corwin_Brin nods. "Ameiko, Onryou, Riya, and are Sandpoint born and raised."
[22:01] * Aranha happily takes a sip, enjoying the alcoholic warmth.
[22:02] * Casimir leans back in his seat, going back to nursing his cup, "Been here six years, coming on seven this Arodus. Fine company, fine weather, fine living."
[22:02] <Casimir> (Said to Seht.)
[22:03] <Onryou> "Yeah you just moved in a few months before i left for my training."
[22:03] <Valeriya> "And a few months after I was sent off to Magnimar"
[22:03] <Corwin_Brin> "Casimir came into town a couple years back, wife in tow. Honestly, he was kind of a dick, so we avoided him. Guess that's changed. Spider-girl is also from the area, but was a couple years younger and lived out of town, so I never really talked to her."
[22:04] <Casimir> "So I did, I heard the two of you were quite the hellcats in your youth" Casimir said, directly either at Onryou or Valeriya, maybe both.
[22:04] * Aranha huffs. "My name's Aranha, y'jerk."
[22:04] <Aranha> "And like heck you didn't talk to me."
[22:04] <Seht> "Well," Seht says, braving up the courage to address the room. "This is a nice town. Barring the goblin attacks."
[22:05] * Casimir seems to avoid Corwin's comment, instead taking a sip from his cup

[22:06] * Corwin_Brin looks to Aranha. "Really?"
[22:06] <Valeriya> "We scuffled more than a few times, though Ony usually came out of it better than me."
[22:06] <Onryou> (I can go on if you guys want)
[22:07] * Aranha raises an eyebrow. "Oh yeah, let's forget about making fun of the spider."
[22:07] <Onryou> "I have more than a few locks of her hair torn out compaired to wounds."

[22:09] <Onryou> "Hehe, yeah i know i already apologised, but sorry abou thtat"
[22:09] <Seht> "Not me!" Seht pipes up, before realizing what he said and quiets back down. "I was the calm one. Helps when the only people to pick fights with are twice as tall."
[22:09] * Corwin_Brin thinks for a moment, then almost looks a bit embarassed. "Right... right... I, uh, I'd forgotten about that. If it matters, I'm sorry."
[22:10] <Valeriya> "It's all water under the bridge. Besides, every meal I enjoy here is a fresh apology."
[22:10] * Aranha glares at Corwin harshly for about three seconds, then smiles warmly. "Forgiven~"
[22:10] <Onryou> "If thats the case i'll cook for you every meal."
[22:11] * Aranha laughs. "If you let Ryou cook all your meals you'll end up as big as her, just not as strong."
[22:12] <Corwin_Brin> Eager for a chance to change the topic, he pats Seht on the back. "That's smart. Archery don't translate well to play fighting. We tried that once. I've still got a scar from where Ameiko shot me."
[22:12] * Valeriya raises her bottle "I'll drink to that, Ony."
[22:13] <Casimir> "You're pretty wicked with that bow, though" Casimir said to set, glancing out over the railing, "Archery's just as fine as swordsmanship, if you're good at it."
[22:13] <Casimir> Seht*
[22:13] <Onryou> "See aranha, someone likes my food." Onryou walks up behind Aranha presses into her "Why don't you like my food."
[22:14] * Valeriya nearly spits out her drink as she remembers the day Corwin got that scar
[22:14] * Aranha squeaks as she's surrounded by flesh both soft and rock-solid. "I-I like your food, it's just there's always too much of it!"
[22:15] * Seht shakes his head with another sip of cider. "Oh, that's not it. My brothers and sisters are just as good with their bows, but when they would scuff..." He looks up, as if remembering it, before turning to Corwin. "...about your size. Maybe a bit bigger?"
[22:15] * Casimir calmly puts his cup down and listens in to what should - and likely will, be an interesting story, "How *did* Corwin get that scar?"
[22:16] * Corwin_Brin glares at Val in mock anger. "I still hold you, like, 30% responsible Ms. "Let's bandage it with Goblin Nettle." "
[22:16] <Onryou> "Aranha a meal needs to be *Complete*"
[22:16] <Onryou> "I don't serve half food"
[22:17] * Valeriya raises both arms, "Guilty."
[22:17] <Aranha> "It's not a half-food, it's just a small food! Or a medium food! Heck, even a LARGE food, just not an Onryou-sized food!" Aranha whines a little bit.
[22:18] * Valeriya turns to Corwin, "Do you want to tell the story or shall I?"
[22:18] <Casimir> "Wait, wait! I'll need something a bit stronger than tea to get in the mood for this"
[22:19] <Onryou> "Tell you what, work with me, and we'll find out what's Aranha sized okay?"
[22:19] * Casimir looks over at Onryou, "Got any of that hard cider on hand?"
[22:19] * Corwin_Brin drains his mug. "It's my scar, that makes it my story. You can tell the one about the bear trap and the Druid." He notices casimir getting up, "get me something too!"
[22:19] <Onryou> "You got it!"
[22:19] * Aranha sighs. "Alright... you've got a deal."
[22:19] * Onryou releases Aranha dutifuly and rushes to get Casimir a drink
[22:20] <Casimir> "Oh! And something for Corwin! Something *strong*"
[22:21] <Corwin_Brin> "I'll need it to numb the pain."
[22:21] * Seht settles in, watching the locals telling stories as he sips his cider.
[22:21] * Valeriya throws her hands into her face, "The bear trap and the Druid. Were we ever really that young and naive?"
[22:21] * Onryou nods sagly and gets her private stock of Absinthe
[22:22] <Casimir> (Absinthe? Ohoho, Corwin might need some help home.)
[22:22] <Corwin_Brin> "Yes, yes you were. *I* of course, as the oldest, knew it was a bad idea, but was humoring your childish games."
[22:23] <Valeriya> (Fortunately we're not far)
[22:23] <Aranha> (Fortunately we're at an Inn)
[22:23] <Casimir> (Which the owner, fortunately, gave us free rooms to use.)
[22:24] <Onryou> (Fortunaly his home IS in the inn)
[22:24] <Corwin_Brin> (His closet is, like, 15 feet away.)
[22:24] <Casimir> (Clearly, Onryou could just carry Corwin to bed.)

[22:24] <Casimir> (You're a big girl! You can princess carry him!)
[22:25] <Corwin_Brin> (gimmie a sec to pour a drink and get into character better)

[22:29] * Corwin_Brin takes the tall glass of green liquid from Onryou, and takes a sip before beginning. "This story starts like all good stories, and a rainy saturday in the fall."
[22:30] <Corwin_Brin> "Now, Riya here," he just gestures to Val, "had been bragging that she'd *finally* been allowed to learn to shoot. I swear, this had been going on for more than a week."
[22:31] * Casimir takes his hard cider and begins to drinking, nodding along to the story
[22:31] <Casimir> "Mhm?"
[22:32] <Corwin_Brin> "So, it being rainy and miserable, we ended up confined to the house; seeing as how the Kaijatsu estate was still under repairs brought on from the last rainy day, and my house was, like, three rooms; we were over at Val's."
[22:33] <Corwin_Brin> He pauses to think for a moment, "now, I know Ameiko, Val, and I were there... can't remember if Onryou was as well, or if she was still grounded for punching that horse."
[22:34] <Onryou> "It was an Ox"
[22:34] <Corwin_Brin> He shrugs. "Same difference."
[22:34] <Casimir> "An OX?"
[22:34] <Valeriya> "It was both"
[22:34] * Aranha takes another sip of her mead. "Yeah, a horse wouldn't've gotten back up."
[22:35] * Casimir stares at the trio, and goes back to his drink
[22:35] <Valeriya> "The ox was a couple of days before the horse"
[22:35] * Corwin_Brin laughs long and hard. "I totally forgot about that! Okay... so this was the *first* time Onryou was grounded for punching livestock."
[22:37] <Corwin_Brin> "Anyway, we're bored, we can't touch anything, and Val is going on and on about how she's a crack shot, and how she's going to rival the champion of Erastil himself, and so forth."
[22:37] <Valeriya> "Still on my to do list"
[22:37] <Corwin_Brin> "So, to shut her up, Ameiko suggests we get the bow, and sneak out into the woods to shoot some targets."
[22:38] * Casimir gives Val a look, as though trying to imagine her declaring to be Deadeye reborn
[22:39] <Corwin_Brin> "So we do. The sheriff is mighty loose with her keys, and between the three of us we *did* know a couple simple illusions."
[22:40] <Corwin_Brin> "This bow is some shitty-ass, cheap short bow; but when you're 10, it's the greatest thing you've ever seen."
[22:42] <Corwin_Brin> "So, we get out to the woods, and realize we forgot to grab the blunt arrows. So, all we've got are these serrated goblin-stickers. Naturally, we made the smart choice, and wrapped them in leaves, thinking it would, ya know, dampen the blow.""
[22:42] <Corwin_Brin> He takes a long sip of Absinthe. "It didn't"
[22:42] <Seht> "It wouldn't."
[22:43] * Casimir tries to stifle a laugh, but couldn't. He hardly has time to take the drink from his lips before he starts laughing
[22:44] <Corwin_Brin> "So... Val takes a few shots to prove she's the best. I take a few shots and... well... archery isn't my thing now, and it certainly wasn't then."
[22:45] <Corwin_Brin> "Then Ameiko steps up. I swear she must have tapped into some Bardic magic wayyy before I did, because she repeated a phrase over and over, and then fired 3 nearly perfect shots."
[22:45] <Corwin_Brin> "Exactly as good as Val."
[22:46] <Corwin_Brin> "Well... this obviously won't stand. So, the pair agree to an archery contest."
[22:46] <Corwin_Brin> He drains the mug. "I take it you've all heard the legend of William Tell?"
[22:47] <Seht> "Apple. Head. Bow and arrow. We call him Wilit."
[22:48] * Corwin_Brin clicks his teeth. "Bingo."
[22:49] <Corwin_Brin> "Now, as the obvious loser, I was to be the target; with Ameiko shooting first."
[22:50] <Valeriya> "That still seems fair to me."
[22:51] <Corwin_Brin> He grabs a mug of ale off the tray as Onryou passes, and drains it in a single gulp. "Don't think I was unwilling. The two of them asked me to break the tie, and I figured getting shot would be less painful than pissing off either of them."
[22:52] * Seht sets his face in his hands. He knows where this story is going.
[22:52] <Corwin_Brin> "So, Ameiko shoots first; and whatever spirit of luck had been guiding her the first time decided to rescind its blessing."
[22:53] * Casimir leans in. He knows EXACTLY where this story is going
[22:53] <Corwin_Brin> "It goes low, and wide." He lifts up his shirt, revealing a myriad of horrible looking scars, and points to a little darkened patch betwee two ribs on the right side."
[22:54] <Corwin_Brin> "Gets about half-way through that little bit of skin between my ribs, and just stops."
[22:55] <Valeriya> "The way he went to the ground, I was certain she'd killed him."
[22:55] <Onryou> (i'm going to bed, its been a long two days)
[22:55] <Corwin_Brin> He looks to Seht knowling, and gestures with a finger. "Now, would you care to share with us what you should do when a serrated arrows gets stuck inside a person?"

[22:56] <Casimir> (Was fun playing with you, Onryou!)

[22:57] * Seht sighs, crossing his arms. "You push it through the other side, cut off the head, and pull it back out. If it's in the wrong spot, you have to widen the wound so it doesn't catch."
[22:58] * Valeriya notices that Onryou has fallen asleep at her table, but decides not to wake her
[22:58] * Casimir gives a sympathy hiss at the vicious-looking scar, and equally vicious story associated with it, "Shot with a broadhead? Nasty piece of work, those are."
[22:58] * Corwin_Brin clicks his teeth again. "Bingo. No points for guessing what we did instead."
[23:00] <Corwin_Brin> "So, I'm bleeding out on the floor of the forest, around twilight, in the rain. And this one," he cocks a finger at Valeriya, "decides to grab the largest leaves she can find to pack the wound with."
[23:01] <Corwin_Brin> "Which, naturally, leads her to a patch of goblin nettle." He looks to Casimir, "dunno if you know this, cuz you didn't grow up around here, but goblin nettle is horrible. Itching, burning, pain."
[23:02] <Corwin_Brin> "Everyone here's been stung at least once."
[23:03] <Casimir> "Wait wait, is this the plant with the wide, fuzzy leaves? About so long?" Casimir holds his hands out as measurement, "We called it Fool's Foil in Brevoy."
[23:03] <Valeriya> "That's the one. It was raining so I couldn't see the fuzz."
[23:04] * Aranha nods. "Up in Cheliax they apparently call it Devil's Wipe."
[23:04] <Casimir> "So many names, all of them unpleasant."
[23:05] <Corwin_Brin> "Well, whatever you call it. I wake up with a bundle of it inside me. Inside of my skin is itching."
[23:05] * Seht winces sympathetically.
[23:06] <Casimir> "Can't even imagine how that'd feel, damn."
[23:07] <Corwin_Brin> "And yeah," he leans back in his chair, putting his boots on the table. "That's about the long and short of it. Val got me home; apparently Ameiko bolted the second I hit the ground. Told my dad I slipped and landed on a root, told the Sheriff the same thing."
[23:08] * Corwin_Brin laughs at all the winces. "Relax. That shit builds character." He then waggles a finger at Val, "and just remember, I never told your mom what happened; I could still do it, I bet she'd still be pissed."
[23:09] * Valeriya drains the last of her bottle, "Don't even joke about that, Win."
[23:11] <Seht> "Trying to imitate Wilit was... almost the worst thing in the quah." Seht shakes his head, finishing up his cider. "If pa caught us doing that, I don't even want to imagine."
[23:11] <Casimir> "Of course, of course. Every hurt is a lesson, as my old instructor Cyprian used to say... Though I can't say there weren't better ways to learn it."
[23:13] <Casimir> (Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better*)

[23:14] * Casimir ponderously gets out of his chair, groaning a bit at the effort, "I've gotta get going soon too, I'll help ya."
[23:14] <Corwin_Brin> "A wise fellow." He stands, a bit shakily. "Yeah, I needed to get another bottle from the cellar anyway."
[23:15] <Valeriya> "Alright I'll get this arm you get that one."
[23:16] * Corwin_Brin reaches under the arm and lifts; taking care not to hurt the oni.
[23:16] * Seht shakes his head. "I need to get Mori settled for the night. I'll see you all tomorrow?"
[23:16] * Casimir offers his shoulder to the bleary-eyed Onryou, helping her up onto her wobbly, half-asleep feet, "Yeah, I've got it."
[23:17] * Valeriya struggles under Onryou's weight, "Yes, yes, sleep well."
[23:17] <Casimir> "See you tomorrow, Seht! Gods be good, how could one woman be this *heavy?*"
[23:18] * Corwin_Brin nods, "I know, right?"
[23:18] <Valeriya> "She works at it as if it's a profession."
[23:19] * Valeriya , Corwin, and Casimir manage to get Onryou to her room without dropping her somehow.
[23:19] <Casimir> "Last time I had to carry someone this heavy to bed... You know, he wasn't too unlike Onryou, really... Bah" Casimir mentally (and audibly) shrugs, "that's a story for when we're rested, and have some fresh brew."
[23:19] * Aranha nods sleepily. "Mm. Time for bed." She gets to her feet and shuffles in the vague direction of a room.
[23:20] <Valeriya> "I'll hold you to that, Casimir."
[23:20] * Casimir rolls his shoulder now that it's not bearing the weight of such a gravitationally-powerful woman, "Same place tomorrow morning, yeah?"
[23:21] * Corwin_Brin tranfers the last of Onryou's weight to Casimir, and sinks back into his chair. A couple arcane mutters later, a glass of water trasnmutes to mead, and Corwin begins to drink.
[23:21] <Valeriya> "Yeah, sleep well, friend."

[23:22] * Casimir begins to head out the door, "You too, Val. Don't stay up too much longer, I've got the feeling this is the start of a long week for us."
[23:22] <Casimir> And with that, Casimir left back to his home!
[23:22] <Valeriya> "I'm sure it will be."
[23:23] <Casimir> (I need to call it a night too, great session! That story was fantastic, dude!)

[23:25] * Valeriya smiles and nods, heading upstairs without any more words
[23:25] * Corwin_Brin continues to drink.
[23:26] * Valeriya checks to make sure the coast is clear before exiting the Rusty Dragon through an open window
[23:28] * Valeriya still has a few hours of patroling to do as the Vilderavn
