  1. [11:56:19] Alithea nodded her head as she grabbed Serqet and then pulled her into a hug. "Yes I am we have to or else this will end up badly." she said as she nodded towards the others. She held Serqet close as wings of gold sprang up from behind her and took them into the air. With that done she looked down towards Serqet. "Alright. Prepare yourself...mentally and physically." she said as she turned off towards the oceans. She then shot forwards towards it moving with all speed she could muster.
  2.
  3. About half an hour later it came into view. A remote empty island that totally did not have anyone on it. Just covered in snow and mostly cleared of the forestry that was there. Banking towards it she landed on the ground and released Serqet onto it. She looked around for a moment and then turned towards her student.
  4.
  5. "Alright Serqet. This is it. The last one you'll need to do. It's not going to be easy this time. You'll have to take everything you know and ready yourself completely. Make sure you are absolutely prepared for this because once it begins it will not stop until you complete this...or fail. Once you're ready just say the word."
  6. (Alithea Silvertongue)
  7.
  8.
  9. [12:03:08] She gave a last wave to her friends before the golden wings sprouted from Alithea's back, and a deep sigh left after rising from the pit of her chest. If she had had any nerves about this before, they were magnified tenfold now. The flight wasn't what was triggering it of course. She was more than used to flying after all the times that Cassi had ended up practically kidnapping her from Danarium to go do things elsewhere. But it was what lay at the end of the short flight. She didn't know what the training would entail, short of expanding upon what she had been taught the time before.
  10.
  11. How to separate the two types of mana- but keep them in existence in tandem. For that was what they were. One and the same, though the other was simply tinged with a hint of the divine. She had mistakenly manifested something more when she had created the levitation potion with Cassi, but the conclusiont hat she had drawn was that it was nothing more than a fluke. For a moment, she had naturally done it... But fallen and nearly snapped her neck had it not been for the proficiency that her cousin held in gravity magic.
  12.
  13. As they alighted on the super empty island upon which there were no structures of any sort whatsoever, she began to stretch. Flying in someone else's grasp always left her cramped!
  14.
  15. "If it were easy I would be disappointed. You know that... I love challenges!" Though her words were confident, there was a shakiness to her tone. She was ready, right..? She'd close her eyes, giving herself one last internal pep talk. The small wing on her shoulder moved up and down in contentedness, and her bodies shaking ceased.
  16.
  17. "I'm prepared to start. Tell me what I need to do."
  18. (Serqet Silvertongue)
  19.
  20. [12:18:30] Alithea watched her closely as she monitored everything and took everything in. She closed her eyes for a moment letting a wave of sadness pass over her. The feelings twisted and turned and then gave her strength to carry on with what she aimed to do. As she opened her eyes she was truly in serious mode now and there was no denying it.
  21.
  22. "Alright. First off as you know over these training sessions I've taught you how to use your normal mana, your reserved wing mana, and then control them both seperately." she explained as she lifted up one hand and formed a small swirling energy in it. The golden energy twisted and then exploded outwards around her and onto the ground.
  23.
  24. "This was to prepare your mind and your body for what would come next. Now...now is the time to combine both of these mana types together. To do so you must utilize your normal mana and then use your reserve mana in tandem. IIt is not COMBINING but STRENGTHENING that you must do here. The divine magic stored inside the wing will fuel your own natural mana to make it stronger."
  25.
  26. She held out her other hand and then gripped both tightly. The pair of wings on her back fluffed out as a result. "Imagine it as wings upon your back. That you break free from the mold and let the warmth of the light inside you bloom outwards. When your wings appear then you shall know when you have achieved your desired state. After that...the real trial will begin."
  27.
  28. As she finished she kneeled down to the ground. Her wings folded in around her body and then...vanished? Yet replacing it was a divinely radiant suit of armor about her. Something her sister created but she never made use of...until now. As she did so the ground beneath her began to tremble and shake violently.
  29.
  30. Then it cracked open as a massive mountain of dirt rose up from the ground. There was more rumbling as rocks fell around and then shot up to begin forming something. Once it finished a massive golem was being formed and ontop of it kneeled Alithea. As it finished it towered over Serqet and Alithea stood up to look down at her from the Golem's shoulder.
  31.
  32. "This is it Serqet. Your goal will be to defeat this. Though know this...without the power your wing provides you will not be able to." she said as she began sinking INTO the Golem's body. She manuevered her way towards the middle before halting. From Serqet's perspective it would seem as if she had just entered.
  33.
  34. Yet the truth appeared moments later as the golem stood up.
  35.
  36. Wielded by Alithea's own magic the Golem creation of Earth began to change into a holy variant feeding off her power to become harder like Marble. All across its body did runes began forming feeding off the ambient magics that Alithea gave off. These Runes glowed brightly and then it assumed a sort of combat stance.
  37.
  38. The runes would be unknown to Serqet but they were designed to reflect and bounce back any attack thrown at it. Essentially a reflective type barrier that worked physically and magically...a trick her Father used. The catch was that if the power fed into it was exceeded it was destroyed. This meant Serqet would have to hit the barrier hard enough to break it on her own. "Alright Serqet. This is it. Defeat this Golem by any means necessary."
  39. (Alithea Silvertongue)
  40.
  41. (For all logs, a random 1-100 of sixty or greater was required to pass. Alithea rolled to counter. Serqet's successes were still counted as successes even if stopped.)
  42.
  43. [12:27:53] There was endless patience in the teen's eyes as Alithea prepared. The majesty of her wings fading, replaced by a luminous suit of 'armor'... And the presence of a hulking golem the likes of which dwarfed those that she had seen from the first two training sessions. This machination was larger... The inscriptions upon it and the fact that Alithea herself enteredf unto it were indication that it was not only larger- but stronger. The meaning of the runes were vaguely decipherable to her, but she figured now was not the time to be focusing on that.
  44.
  45. For once, her attention was wholly focused upon the task at hand. She reached over her shoulder, grasping the haft of Rhiannon's stave... Drawing it forth to allow it to shine freely, unrestrained in it's exorcist brilliance as she channeled her mana through it. Her arms were spread wide, a stance befitting the channeling of a spell or the chanting of an incantation... Though instead, she was doing something different. She was feeling for the power she needed... The presence of the warmth upon her left shoulder duly noted, she attempted to emulate the very thing that she had done the day that she and Cassi had made the levitation potion.
  46.
  47. Not only did she need to spread it to her opposite shoulder. That angelic mana needed to meld with her circuits fully. Join with the rest of her power to amplify it beyond what either were capable of on their own. Her breath left her, clouding in the chill of the snowy island and her flowing mana... Eventually, the light of the stave faded, and her eyes opened.
  48.
  49. "I'll put my studies to use then." Her mana suddenly shot back into overdrive, a pair of golden wings sprouting from her back at her behest. Power rolled from her form, but her focus did not fade... Instead, her wings spread wide. beating powerfully to force her to the sky! "Here I come! Let's see how it handles THIS!" Though her words held power, the manifestation of howling winds that surged about her form were only marginally superior to that which she had used before.
  50.
  51. She wasn't used to this yet. And just like the first time that her wing had manifested... It was likely that it could fail at any moment.
  52.
  53. She enshrouded herself in her howling vortex, another powerful beat of her wings sending her flying towards the golem. Within,a blast of exorcist magic was primed to release on contact!
  54.
  55. Though it would likely not be enough.
  56. (Serqet Silvertongue)
  57.
  58. [12:44:57] Alithea allowed Serqet the time she needed to conjure forth her wing. It didn't take very long before the girl had managed to manifest a pair of beautiful wings upon her back. She stood there in the armor until she was ready and as soon as she took to the skies the golem warrior she made began to move in kind. One might think something of that size would be slow but that wasn't quite the truth.
  59.
  60. In fact because she was manually controlling it this thing was much faster then one would expect!
  61.
  62. As the attack was prepared the golem glowed brightly for a moment before turning to face the flying girl. She charged forth towards her and this was where she revealed the Golem wasn't that slow! In fact an arm shot up as the magic smashed into the barrier there. It cracked lightly but the attack was immediately bounced back straight towards Serqet's face!
  63.
  64. Charging in like that was a poor idea as each magic spell thrown at it, or even physical for that matter, was reflected back at the user. She needed to break the shield with an attack that surpassed her previous power if she hoped to not bash herself against it. Unfortunately in that exact moment the right hand of the golem shot out to grab Serqet's body.
  65.
  66. She raised up her hand and then hurled her back towards the ground. Alithea wasn't joking when she said this was no ordinary battle. Serqet was going to have to fight and surpass her old self if she had any hope of winning. Several steps were made towards Serqet as a massive fist rose up and aimed to smash into the girl again. A fist of Marble was definately not going to feel good if it connected!
  67.
  68. With this the true battle had begun!
  69. (Alithea Silvertongue)
  70.
  71. [12:50:56] She knew that the golem would be fighting back... Rather, that Alithea would be fighting back from the golem by proxy. What she did not expect, was that the creation would reflect the attack that she had prepared to shatter it. Neither did she expect that it would move as quickly as it did- underestimating it due to it's size. Her wings drew back to beat again as she rolled out of the way of the reflected attack in a split second's reaction- but was unable to avoid the iron grip that slammed her into the ground. All the breath evacuated her lungs, and her wings dissipated almost instantaneously.
  72.
  73. She scrambled back, aided by a concussive burst of wind to send her back into the air as she attempted to come in contact with her conjoined power again...
  74.
  75. But nothing came.
  76.
  77. That meant that she had to think.
  78.
  79. She knew that she could not crush it without her wing. Whatever the difference between her and Alithea was, the golem completely eclipsed that until she could fully grasp the use of her wings. And while they were dissipated, she was at a distinct disadvantage... This thing likely ruled the ground. She grasped her stave with both hands, exhaling softly as she began to channel her mana again. If she could not do it instantly, then she would take the time to avoid what she could until she could do it!
  80.
  81. A crystalline wall, mingled of ice and exorcism imbued earth, rose to stand between the ex-princess and the golem... She hoped it would serve as a means of deterrent, if nothing else. Though she wasn't fool enough to presume that it's offensive capabilities were inferior to that of it's defensive.
  82.
  83. This was going to be rough.
  84. (Serqet Silvertongue)
  85.
  86. [13:02:01] Alithea had just enough sight to see forwards but for everything else she had to sense the earth around her. This was something she had been doing constantly since she was but a small child. So whenever Serqet touched the ground she could feel it. This also meant she could feel when it was used against her. She had to chuckle quietly at that one.
  87.
  88. Yet it seemed the attack had thrown off Serqet's concentration. She needed to gather her mana back and form the wing again. She was not yet perfectly intune with it. However all the same Alithea could not just let her use that time to do so. This was a battle and it would be treated as such. So when the barrier rose up between them she eyed it for a moment. It was a worthy try...but she was about to show her the flaws of her idea.
  89.
  90. Manipulating the Golem she raised a hand up and then smashed a single fist into the ground below her. The hand melded into the ground only to suddenly reappear BEHIND Serqet. What was a wall between them now stuck the poor girl between a rock and a wall as the fist moved to smash into her body hard and into the ice wall before her.
  91.
  92. She withdrew the fist and stood up again the runes glowing brightly once more. This time her left hand raised up and it began turning red with veins...magma magic. As a result the ground underneath them both began to boil and then raise up into a field of magma. The battlefield was shifting and Alithea's golem still appeared to be going strong.
  93. (Alithea Silvertongue)
  94.
  95. [13:08:00] The situation had just turned dire... And the pain coursing through her body as the ice of the wall that she had created shattered on contact- embedding her into the thick construct beneath the golem's grip was completely impossible to ignore. However... The time that she had won was more than enough to achieve her ends. Her eeys closed as she turned her stave's focus towards the hand that gripped her, one eye cracked open as her power surged to heights beyond that which the last manifestation had achieved!
  96.
  97. She was grasping it quickly.
  98.
  99. Her stave charged, blue mana forming upon it. Building. mounting. The pair of golden wings that signified her success shot outwards with a chorus of scintillation, before Serqet simply... Vanished into a cloud of mist. Her body dissipated, re-appearing atop the wall which she had previously created with her stave pointed directly at the heart of the golem. Golden wings held aloft, prepared to take off should the need arise. Her mana surged, ice rapidly manifesting at the tip of her stave...
  100.
  101. Before a barrage of ice spikes assailed it's form. With this, Serqet began to move. Ensuring that even if the attacks were reflected, she would remain untouched in the sky! Her hope was that she could keep this up... For only a little longer. She could feel the power steadily increasing. Creeping ever upwards with her understanding of how it functioned. All that was left was to concentrate it. Figure out a way to break this golem with everything that she had.
  102.
  103. She had a few ideas.
  104. (Serqet Silvertongue)
  105.
  106. [13:27:37] Alithea felt the fist connect solidly as she prepared herself again. The field of magma bubbling up as Serqet vanished into mist and then into the air upon her wings once more. She turned towards her fully as it reformed upon the ice wall she had just moments ago been smashed against. The staff was pointed in her direction now and the golem brough up its arms. Then her attack was released a barrage of icey projectiles launching forwards towards her.
  107.
  108. They smashed into her barrier some shattering while others pushed against it. However cracking noises were heard and seen as the attack was bounced back missing Serqet by mere inches. They were definately not slow returns in her direction. However now Alithea turned to look at Serqet whom was flying in the sky. While it may have been true that serqet DID hold an advantage in the sky compared to her Earthen golem. She needed to remember that Alithea was a master of Earth magic.
  109.
  110. And she too knew how to fly.
  111.
  112. Massive hands grabbed into the earth before lifting up a large chunk of it. She then reared back and hurled it towards Serqet. Her right hand reaching out then making a crushing motion as the rock exploded to send debris outwards towards the girl. Pulling back the hand smashed into the ground instead and pulled upwards to free from its earthern grip a large sword of stone sharp and jagged looking.
  113.
  114. She held it out in front of her diagonally and readied herself. It seemed Alithea still had something up her sleeve that she was now preparing for.
  115. (Alithea Silvertongue)
  116.
  117. [13:35:18] The counterattack was harsher than she expected. Returned shards of ice took advantage of her strafing velocity, cutting pieces of her dress to ribbons and drawing blood from beneath... She wasn't surprised. Rather, she knew that Alithea was taking this as seriously as she had claimed. But despite the massive odds set against her... The lack of control that she held over these wings. There was a moment that flashed before her eyes as the chunk of earth was hurled towards her. Everything seemed to slow, and even as the rock shattered into a thousand pieces of dangerous debris? Serqet payed them no mind. What she had found was a state of serenity in the midst of combat, which she had chosen to embrace.
  118.
  119. She did not move until the debris was just ready to strike.
  120.
  121. A powerful beat of her wings propelled her body forward, her body dissipating into mist with a different effect. Golden light tinged the ephemeral ghast, crystalline crackling of forming ice as the ground beneath them steadily began to freeze. The cacophany of winter's beginning filled the air as the mistified Serqet circled her target, the permafrost growing thicker and thicker as it reached for the center.
  122.
  123. She fully expected something to happen to stop this. The amount of power that she was pouring into the preparation for the final blow to the golem was unprecedented for her usual stye lof combat. Favoring one technique over the harassment of many. Her body materialized once mroe, aloft in front of Alithea with her free hand's middle finger and thumb pressed together.
  124.
  125. "Your move, cousin."
  126.
  127. A snap of her fingers, and the entire area suddenly crystallized. A spike of ice shooting upwards out of seemingly nowhere, enveloping the golem within- and her cousin in tandem. The uproar was impossible to ignore- the sound of hundreds of millions of water particles simultaneously instantly freezing a symphony to Serqet's ears.
  128.
  129. Now she would take the time to prepare the finishing blow to the machination. Assuming that the ice would do it's job to hold it in place!
  130. (Serqet Silvertongue)
  131.
  132. [13:53:13] Alithea's Golem moved to swipe the sword at the small girl. A powerful blow that would have been extremely dangerous to take head on. However the sword itself passed through her body as it became mist. That technique was certainly like Serqet...that much was for sure. However the crackling of ice made her look down as the ground began to freeze around her. That level of ice wouldn't do much to her.
  133.
  134. However the cold began to increase more and more as ice built up along the Golem's body. Was...was Serqet trying to freeze her solid? She lost control of the legs and then the rest of the body slowly. She certainly did come up with something unique for this. The last thing Serqet would have seen was the golem's shield shattering around it and glowing eyes staring straight at her.
  135.
  136. As the golem froze completely Alithea remained inside of it. Nothing seemed to happen at first but Alithea knew what needed to be done. The ice began to crack as a hissing sound was made. Suddenly with a massive flex the golem shattered the ice all around it explosively.
  137.
  138. Red with heat Alithea had charged it up with fire magic. However she did not give Serqet time to react as several of the air borne earth that she ignored suddenly revealed themselves. Marble hands grabbed all of her limbs and wings holding up her in the air. "That was a wonderful move, Serqet. Shame that I once had a lover who used Ice as well." she said as she yanked the sword from the ground.
  139.
  140. It morphed and turned jagged before she raised it up towards her. The Golem then swung down with all the power and might it could. The sword swept through the air and then sliced straight into Serqet's body in a single motion. A killing blow that would have sliced her clean in half. Yet as the Golem stood up the sword crumbled to the ground.
  141.
  142. And Serqet would find that her body was unharmed. The moment the sword moved to slice her in half it parted around her body harmlessly. The golem fell to its knee and then began crumbling down to the ground. Alithea stood there exhausted and tired since this entire battle was using her mana completely. There was no REAL Golem...just magic Alithea had been manipulating this entire time.
  143.
  144. "Congratulations...you passed. Well done."
  145.
  146. She stood up straight and grinned at her. "You just...need to rest for a while but as promised. The wings, and the power it bestows, is now yours."
  147. (Alithea Silvertongue)
  148.
  149. [14:03:28] The final blow was ready to be dealt. Golden mana charged within her left hand prepared to be cast forth to shatter the ice and the golem with it... However, she had expected the retaliation to come immediately- rather than a few moments later. In the process of charging her final salvo, she had been caught! Paijn shot through her body as she let out a strained gasp, her wings remaining manifest... A different kind of pain shooting through her as they were rendered immobile.
  150.
  151. Though she had seemingly mastered them with that one technique, they did not bequeathe unto her the power to match her cousin... Not in the state that she was in. She struggled in vain, her grip upon her stave reamining tight as the ice began to unconsciously creep long the limb immobilizing her. She was sure that she could break it given enough time bought, but before she could open her lips to speak...
  152.
  153. Death showed his face.
  154.
  155. Her eyes went wide as time slowed to a standstill- much like when Cassi had caught her within her time magic as a demonstration... But now, she wasn't able to move freely. She was slowed just as much as the flow of causality had been. It was because of a single realization... Though she had achieved what she had set out to achieve, it had not been enough. Alithea was serious... If she did not pass this phase of the training, then she would never pass. And as the blade moved to split her atwain, she felt a powerful pang of regret.
  156.
  157. She never told them how important they were. None of them... She had failed her father in her promise to become something great. And failed her mother in the promise of keeping her legacy alive- even though she had not been alive to hear it herself. Myriad regrets pooled within her mind, causing her anxiety in her last moments. Thirteen years old... But so much to look back on already.
  158.
  159. Then the blade stopped.
  160.
  161. Her eyes had never closed. And as blade crumbled and she was released from her bonds, she fell to the ground upon one knee. Rhiannon's stave fell free from her grip, and her wings draped to the ground in exhaustion. Steadily, they began to withdraw until they were once again sealed in the form of the single golden wing upon her left shoulder... She had passed.
  162.
  163. "I... Told ya' I would do it didn't I..?" Her words were directed to nobody in particular, but a small laugh escaped her as she succumbed to the exhaustion. It would take time to grow used to them... But the time had finally come.
  164.
  165. With this, she would be able to fly. One promise fulfilled.
  166.
  167. "Gonna... Gonna rest. Don' leave me on this gross empty island..."
  168.
  169. ZZZzzzzzzZZzzZzz.
  170. (Serqet Silvertongue)
