- [16:24] <~Headlong> GDRL-2: Addendum 13
- [16:25] <~Headlong> "So... what you're saying is... that we... as in, you and me, we... need to make sure nopony finds out about this?"
- [16:25] <~Headlong> "Yes."
- [16:26] <~Headlong> "Well... I guess I'll get a rug..."
- [16:27] <~Headlong> Giddy pulls the Dodge off the freeway as the three-day road trip across Equestria comes to an end. After not hearing anything from the Foundation in some time, suspicions might begin to arise...
- [16:30] * Kopesh has stayed quiet most of the trip and just stared out the window only occasionally getting out a book to attemp to read.
- [16:33] * Giddy made sure every once in a while that he indulged himself on the long, empty stretches of road. He was still a racer, even if that wasn't exactly his job description anymore. "We're almost there. Are we going back to the warehouse, or going back home?"
- [16:34] * RadioHooves ([email protected]) Quit ( Killed (NickServ (GHOST command used by RadioHooves_)) )
- [16:34] * Scribbles_ woke up from her nap, yawning and stretching her wings. "I... What? Home?"
- [16:35] * Kopesh pauses for a long moment before sighing. "We should check in. We need to get the spigot in too."
- [16:35] <~Headlong> Giddy, unfortunately, is not immune to the effects of the morning comute. He has hit a stretch of dense traffic.
- [16:35] * Wishing_Well sits by a window, staring out at the scenery as it goes by from his place in the back seat. He wonders how angry the chairpony will be if his report is late... And mailed in instead of face-to-face.
- [16:35] * Bonnet has barely moved since the trip started, most of the muffin sticking to her hooves as she silently sleeps.
- [16:40] * Giddy hits the traffic barrier. Oh, bullshit. After all the trip, he'd honestly even forgotten about the /possibility/ of traffic. If he's disturbed about the situation, he's coped well.
- [16:41] * Giddy wheels toward the warehouse that they met, making sure that his radio was off.
- [16:42] <~Headlong> It's slow going through the Lincolt tunnel, but eventually, early in the afternoon, the familiar parking garage rises out of the low-lying skyline of the Apple Family Wharf. The guard at the gate is, as he always seems to be, asleep.
- [16:43] * Pantzar ([email protected]) Quit ( Ping timeout: 121 seconds )
- [16:45] * Giddy frowns. "Cover your ears." Three seconds later, he punched the horn. Screw that guard guy. He has had too bad a week not to spread it around, and it might as well be someone who kinda deserves it.
- [16:47] <~Headlong> As the guard flails wildly and falls out of his chair, he takes a moment to wonder just what he did to incur Giddy's wrath. Rubbing a bruise on his cheek, he grumbles into the microphone. "All right, all right. Welcome back." He says something else very quietly, and the gate opens.
- [16:49] * Kopesh might ordonarily be irritated by Giddy's choice, but he can't help but feel the same way.
- [16:50] * Scribbles_ yawns again, slowly starting to wake up from the long car ride. "Oh, we're back.."
- [16:56] * Giddy sighs. Damn it, that was supposed to make him feel better. He drove in, and found a place to park. "I'll get the thing. You get Bonnet some help." His voice was rumbly, as if his throat was parched. He didn't like it. He wanted it as far away from him as possible. But at least he didn't have to worry about it again.
- [16:58] * Scribbles_ reaches over and nudges Bonnet. "Wakey-wakey, Bonnie.."
- [17:00] <~Headlong> The guard frowns deeply as Giddy drives past him and into the parking garage proper. Speed Bump is polishing the hubcaps of a nearby Lancer as they park.
- [17:00] * Kopesh says nothing. He just gets out and starts heading for Task. The sooner he can get home, the better.
- [17:01] * Bonnet shivers a little and very slowly opens her eyes, staring ahead unfocused.
- [17:03] <~Headlong> Kopesh finds that the door to the stairwell is unlocked, and that the door at the bottom prompts him to swipe his ID card. He can hear the whirring of a closed-circuit camera recording somewhere nearby.
- [17:03] * Scribbles_ offered Bonnet a smile. "We're here, feel like stretching your legs?"
- [17:04] * Giddy grunts as he gets out of the car, locks it, then heads for the trunk for the spigot. He wraps it up in the cloth and floats it out cautiously in an amber light. He had it out far ahead of him, as if he were holding out a toxic chemical reaction to a chemical hood.
- [17:05] <~Headlong> Giddy finds that Kopesh has cleared the way for him. He cautiously descends the staircase...
- [17:06] <Kopesh> Giddy finds the spigot not in the trunk as Kopesh has had it in his pocket since he picked it up from the scene.
- [17:06] * Bonnet glances up just barely at Scribbles with her eyes, her head sinking more into the seat.
- [17:07] <~Headlong> ...and makes it to the bottom, mindful of that third stair. It's a bitch, after all. How terrible would it have been if he had tripped over it.
- [17:08] * Scribbles_ gets out and opens the door for her. "Come on, Bonnie. Let's at least get you a couch to lie on."
- [17:10] * Bonnet doesn't move, only blinks slowly, even her breathing barely noticable.
- [17:13] * Scribbles_ frowns, trying to gently nudge Bonnet up. "Bonnie..."
- [17:14] <~Headlong> A pair of armed guards look up at Kopesh and Giddy as they enter the hallway. "Hello gents. What can we do for you?" They ask, stepping in front of them.
- [17:14] <Kopesh> "We're here to see Task."
- [17:15] * Giddy sneers "How about we start by getting this fucking spigot out of our sight and then getting Bonnet some fucking psychiatric help, and then we'll see where we go from there."
- [17:15] <~Headlong> They step aside again. The second one nods. "All righty. You gents have a good day, all-" They stop mid-sentence and stare at Giddy. "No need to be snippy, mate..." they both mutter. They seem a little hurt.
- [17:17] * Kopesh continues walking, not caring about feelings right now except his desire to be done.
- [17:18] * Bonnet looks up just barely at Scribbles, blinking slowly.
- [17:19] * Scribbles_ lets her smile return. "Come on, you shouldn't sit in the car all day. It's bad for your back."
- [17:20] * Wishing_Well stands by the car as Scribbles tries to coax Bonnet out. He holds his usual mien, though he hasn't the foggiest what he should be doing.
- [17:20] <~Headlong> Kopesh walks quickly through the Safe Containment area until he finds the elevator to the Task Force managerial area. Two scientists are chatting it up as they step inside.
- [17:23] * Kopesh steps inside, letting the scientists have their chat.
- [17:24] * Bonnet drops her head back to the seat, her mouth moving just barely but no sound coming out.
- [17:24] <~Headlong> "So, I told him that I just wasn't the kind of mare who was into that, and you know what he says?" one asked the other. She presses the button for the Third Level, and swipes her ID card. She looks at Kopesh, but continues talking to the other. "He says 'well, I guess I'm not that into you, Juniper.' Can you believe that?"
- [17:24] <~Headlong> The other mare shakes her head. "I can't. What an asshole."
- [17:26] * Giddy retroactively grabs Bonnet and takes her down, I guess!
- [17:28] <~Headlong> The guards retroactively look at Bonnet with mixed confusion and shock. "Dr. Relic should take a look at her. He's the psych around here. Second floor, room 118." The guard who isn't speaking picks up a phone and begins speaking in a hushed tone to the pony on the other end.
- [17:32] * Scribbles_ follows Kopesh, retroactively, giving a retroactive smile and nod to the guards.
- [17:34] * Wishing_Well retroactively follows the rest of the party, smiling the whole way.
- [17:34] * Bonnet doesn't do anything to stop Giddy from dragging her around, not fighting but not reacting in any way.
- [17:36] * Kopesh doesn't say anything or even return the look. He simply puts in his floor, if needed, and stands quietly.
- [17:38] * Giddy carries her alongside Wishing_Well. "Hey. Thanks for helping me." The walk was long and arduous. Not because of the weight. "Bonnet. If you can hear me, then... Well. Thanks. I... Really prefer you over most people that I have met. And you've made a horrible experience better for being there." The rest of the walk, he was silent, even if addressed.
- [17:39] <~Headlong> Giddy, Bonnet, and Wishing_Well will have to wait for the next elevator it seems. Kopesh presses level 2, and departs on to the Office floor when the door opens.
- [17:41] <~Headlong> The two scientists continue gabbing about Juniper's blown date, even as the doors close.
- [17:41] * Kopesh steps out and walks over to Task's desk. "It's done."
- [17:42] * Scribbles_ follows alongside Kopesh, giving Task a small, professional, and a little forced, smile.
- [17:43] <~Headlong> The cheery pony perks up as she hears his voice. "Ah! You're back! And here, I was just about to phone for you. Congratulations on your first mission, dearies. Are the others somewhere else?" She looks around for the others, the bun in her mane bobbing a little.
- [17:45] * Scribbles_ points towards the elevator. "Bonnet is shaken up by the, what was it? Pocket Dimension? I think I heard the guards mention a Dr. Relic when they saw her."
- [17:46] * Bonnet 's eye drifts slowly to look at Giddy, her head lowering a little more. She actually tries to say something, but it comes out as little more than a breath.
- [17:46] <~Headlong> Task nods slowly. "Oh yeah. Dr. Relic is the resident psychologist here. He gets a lot of work, but he's the best. She'll definitely be able to get an appointment with him. Give him my reccomendation when you do."
- [17:47] <Kopesh> "So, how do I get this mission archived?"
- [17:48] <~Headlong> She shifts a little in her chair. "All you need to do is fill out a Mission Report sheet and return it to me as soon as you can. We can't pay you until we see the report! As for the anomaly, right at the end of the hall her, room 110, is Dr. Backwash's office. Drop off the SCP with him, and we'll send it off to the appropriate storage unit."
- [17:49] <Kopesh> "Can I get a report sheet?"
- [17:50] * Giddy presses the button leading to the floor he needs to go to and taps his hoof anxiously. He presses it again.
- [17:50] <~Headlong> Task is already reaching for one. "Oh, and Ms. Scribbles? You have some mail." She says, hoofing Scribbles a small envelope. She distributes the forms and returns to her terminal. "Need anything else, dearies?"
- [17:51] <~Headlong> The elevator dings as it arrives on the Safe Containment Level where the rest of the group is waiting. Members of a different, and significantly better armed Task Force slip out, heading for the garage exit. They look the remaining group over, but say nothing.
- [17:52] * Kopesh gives her a small, but genuen smile. "No, that should be everything. We'll let you know, if we have any more questions."
- [17:52] * Giddy doesn't give half a fuck if they looked at him funny for once. He's getting in that fucking elevator.
- [17:52] * Scribbles_ takes the envelope in her hooves. "Probably the publisher, making sure I didn't die at the typewriter." She said, checking the address.
- [17:54] <~Headlong> Their looks aren't funny. Just... looks. Trying to gauge what another Task Force looks like. Trying to scoop every bit of information about this place as they can from a single glance.
- [17:54] <~Headlong> Scribbles_' mail is from Headlong, curiously enough.
- [17:59] * Scribbles_ blinks, surely Headlong could've asked to see her in the office, or something. She turns to go check on Bonnet, opening her mail.
- [17:59] <~Headlong> The rest of the group is now in the elevator. It prompts them to swipe an ID card, and choose a floor.
- [17:59] * EDtiGron ([email protected]) has joined #fruityrumpusassholefactory
- [17:59] * Rime ([email protected]) Quit ( discord.canternet.org derpy.canternet.org )
- [17:59] * Giddy ([email protected]) Quit ( discord.canternet.org derpy.canternet.org )
- [18:00] * Giddy ([email protected]) has joined #fruityrumpusassholefactory
- [18:00] * Rime ([email protected]) has joined #fruityrumpusassholefactory
- [18:01] * Kopesh ([email protected]) Quit ( Ping timeout: 121 seconds )
- [18:01] <~Headlong> Inside, Scribbles finds a very official looking press badge from the Equestrian Gazette. Affixed to it with stick tape is a note that reads "Maybe next time, your negotiations will go a little better."
- [18:04] * Giddy heads on inside the elevator and when folks find themselves inside, punches the button heading towards the doctor.
- [18:06] <~Headlong> After a short trip, Giddy and the gang find themselves on the Offices floor. They can see Scribbles_ and Kopesh talking with Task in the Task Force Management Office. Down the hall is where they can find Dr. Relic.
- [18:07] * Wishing_Well takes in his surroundings as he assists in moving Bonnet. It's all very new and interesting to him.
- [18:10] <~Headlong> Wishing_Well looks up and down at the sterile white interior of Site 25, and he is reminded of the ECS, and how nothing alike the two were at all.
- [18:10] * EDtiGron is now known as Kopesh
- [18:10] * Giddy heads on over to Dr. Relic's office, moving like a beast of labor.
- [18:10] <~Headlong> Giddy finds a closed door with the inscription "Dr. Relic, MD. Foundation Personal Therapist."
- [18:12] * Giddy wheels on up to the door and bangs on the door a few time. "Hey. You in?"
- [18:12] * Kopesh turns and heads for Dr. Backwash's office.
- [18:16] <~Headlong> A proper, stately voice comes from inside Relic's office. "Yes, yes! Come in, the door is open! You'll have to excuse me, though. Kettle's on the boil, and what not."
- [18:16] <~Headlong> Kopesh, however, finds an open door, with light, easy reggae music flowing out of it and into the halls. The other doors around it remain closed in defiance.
- [18:17] * Scribbles_ ([email protected]) Quit ( Ping timeout: 121 seconds )
- [18:17] * Kopesh ([email protected]) Quit ( Ping timeout: 121 seconds )
- [18:18] * Kopesh ([email protected]) has joined #fruityrumpusassholefactory
- [18:20] * Giddy pushes open the door and attempts to find Bonnet someplace soft to lay down.
- [18:22] <~Headlong> Giddy finds /many/ places to lay somepony down in Dr. Relic's cozy office. Most of the room is covered in plush pillows, comfy throws, and padded rocking chairs. The smell of zebra herbal tea wafts out from a small kitchen off to the side.
- [18:44] <~Headlong> : RESUME PLABACK :
- [18:47] * Scribbles_ smiles, tucking the badge into her shirt pocket before following Giddy and Bonnet to the Doctor's office.
- [18:49] * Kopesh finds his way to Dr. Backwash's office.
- [18:50] <~Headlong> Kopesh, however, finds an open door, with light, easy reggae music flowing out of it and into the halls. The other doors around it remain closed in defiance.
- [18:52] * Kopesh steps in the doorway and knocks on the open door.
- [18:52] * Giddy proceeds to plop Bonnet onto any soft surface that seemed close by. "Get over here. Please."
- [18:54] <~Headlong> A curious mixture of incense and soda pop wafts into Kopesh's nostrils. Sitting with hooves propped up on a solid oak desk is a ratty looking teenager in a straw hat, floral shirt, and perfectly starched lab coat. He fiddles with a Rubix cube, brow knitted in concentration.
- [18:55] * Bonnet falls down onto the cushion, not moving from where Giddy places her.
- [18:57] <~Headlong> A lean, tall, unicorn stallion ducks his head as he trots out of his micro-kitchen and into the sea of pillows and rugs. "Good, good. Make yourself comfortable, Ms. Bonnet." The doctor strokes his perfectly trimmed beard. "And the rest of you are seeking help as well?"
- [18:57] * Kopesh likes this guy already. He walks in and stands in front of the desk, not interupting, but instead watching.
- [18:59] * Scribbles_ shakes her head. "I'm making sure she'll be alright."
- [18:59] * Giddy grumbles. "I'm fine. Just fix her."
- [19:00] <~Headlong> The buck's look of concentration fades as he sets the cube down and tilts the brow of his hat up to look at Kopesh. "Hey."
- [19:02] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic sets directly across from Bonnet and waves Giddy and Scribbles_ off. "All right, then. I'll need some privacy with her. And it's not as simple as stabbing her with a Hypo, Mr. Up. I'll need some time."
- [19:03] * Kopesh takes the spigot out of his pocket and sets it on his desk. "I was instructed to give this to you."
- [19:04] * Giddy seems flustered. "Just..." He let out a groan of hesitation. "Just fix her!" And out the door he went, feeling an anger that felt like a storm in his chest.
- [19:04] <~Headlong> Dr. Backwash's eyes widen a little. "Whoa... Very, very cool. This is the Class Two, huh? Sweet..." He picks it up and tosses it between his hooves and wings, playing with it a little. "Any idea how it works?" he asks quietly, less to Kopesh and more to himself.
- [19:05] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic raises a hoof in protest, but Giddy is already gone. He points to Scribbles_. "Make sure that one finds an outlet for his anger... it's not healthy."
- [19:06] * Scribbles_ nods. "I'll see what I can do.." With that, she takes her leave, looking up and down the hall.
- [19:07] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic bows slightly, sipping his tea and turning his attention to Bonnet. "Ms? Can you hear what I'm saying?"
- [19:08] <Kopesh> "I assume you use it like a normal spigot and it causes whatever, but it's probably above my security clearance to know anyway."
- [19:09] <~Headlong> Dr. Backwash looks up at Kopesh, blinking a little. "I'm sensing some harsh vibes from you, man. What's eating you?"
- [19:10] * Bonnet just lays there through the whole exchange, her body sunk into the pillows. She flinches a little at Giddy's outburst but otherwise doesn't respond to the doctor.
- [19:10] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic's lean features are creased by a frown. "Ms, please. Any sort of confirmation will do."
- [19:12] <Kopesh> "I watched a stallion die because this place is run like garbage and the only thing I'm going to get for pointing it out is yelled at. It's been a rough week."
- [19:13] * Bonnet slowly looks up at the doctor with one eye.
- [19:14] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic gives a slight smile, his frown vanishing. "Can you speak to me?"
- [19:15] <~Headlong> Backwash nods sagely. "Hey man, I know it may seem like we're kinda screwy, and let's be real, who isn't? But everything we do, we do for a reason. You have to understand what kind of contstraints we're working with here, dig?"
- [19:17] * Bonnet drops her eye back to the floor, her mouth opening just barely but nothing coming out.
- [19:18] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic moves closer, to sit beside her. "Ms. Bonnet, I can't help you if you don't talk to me."
- [19:18] <Kopesh> "Your 'constraints' are self imposed because of the idiotic clearance system that keeps potentially life saving information away from the people that need it most. You all might have reasons, but that doesn't make them good."
- [19:20] <~Headlong> Backwash sits up straight in his desk. "Well, man, I can tell you this much. Security clearance exists because the Foundation is... kind of weird about who it trusts. But, like, think about it. What did you need to know that would have helped?"
- [19:21] * Bonnet slowly mouths a single, short word.
- [19:22] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic is fairly good at reading lips, but...
- [19:23] * Wishing_Well_ ([email protected]) has joined #fruityrumpusassholefactory
- [19:25] * Bonnet closes her eyes slowly and mouths it again, just as slowly, 'dead'.
- [19:25] * Giddy is just filled with an antsy sort of energy after that. It was the kind of energy you do something stupid in a fit of anger with. He needed to drive a motorcycle onto oncoming traffic. He needed to get into a barfight with five stallions. He needed to pretend he was a regular at a gym and pretend that he could free-lift a four-hundred pound weight.
- [19:25] * Wishing_Well ([email protected]) Quit ( Ping timeout: 121 seconds )
- [19:25] * Wishing_Well_ is now known as Wishing_Well
- [19:26] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic nods slowly. "Who is dead, Ms?"
- [19:26] * Bonnet doesn't respond further.
- [19:27] * RadioHooves ([email protected]) has joined #fruityrumpusassholefactory
- [19:27] <Kopesh> "Knowing about pocket dimensions would have helped. The team that was sent in to aid us recognised it immediatly while we were sent in clueless. It would have been nice to know going in that there was someone from the Foundation already there instead of being lied to about being able to look at the scene only to find out that the stallion in question hadn't even bothered to do what was on his badge and then to be told that he
- [19:27] * Scribbles_ walks over to Giddy, resting a hoof on his shoulder. "Hey, Giddy."
- [19:29] <Kopesh> bothered to do what was on his badge and then tobe told that he was trying to be incogneto despitehaving a Foundation badge on his fucking chest forall to see anyway. Perhaps I should start with justknowing how this organization operates on the most basic level."*
- [19:30] * Giddy twitches. "WHAT!" He exclaimed, then after having a moment of hyperventilation, calmed down a little. He seemed... Twitchy. "Sorry."
- [19:30] <~Headlong> Backwash folds his hooves. "Well, dude, we're just as clueless as you were until we heard that PDs were involved. You guys are like, the first responders. We get wind of something weird, they send guys like you in there to assess the problem. The Escape Ropes are good, but I'd say you guys did really well out there, for a first time."
- [19:30] <~Headlong> He chuckles. "Better than my first go around in the field. Whew. There were like, sirens and shit. /Crazy/."
- [19:31] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic touches Bonnet lightly on the shoulder. "Ms. Bonnet, I'm just hear to help. You've seen some seriously traumitizing things... but if you can't tell me anything about it... I can't do a thing to help."
- [19:33] * Scribbles_ took a step back, fearing Giddy would literally explode, given the noise he just made. "I was just checking to see if you were okay, you look wound up."
- [19:33] <Kopesh> "I already know what function we serve. Our job it to be the cheap identifiers with no prior training to cut down on costs. If we die, no biggie, just replace us for cheap. If we live, we call back to tell them what it is so that they can sent in the units that actually cost something and can actually deal with whatever the problem is."
- [19:34] * Giddy groans. For a civilized pony, he seems pretty damn feral. "I am."
- [19:35] <~Headlong> Backwash rubs his neck. "I mean, you say that, but when your three months are up, man. You're set. For life."
- [19:38] * Bonnet just lays there, sniffing every so often.
- [19:39] <~Headlong> The stallion resumes his earlier posture and fiddles with the cube some more. "Like, our prime directive, above all else is SCP. Secure, contain, protect. Those last two are what make everything so wonky, dig? Secrecy is, like, the most important part of the job. If even the most casual of details slip out when their not needed, all this," He motions to the room around him, "Goes to shit."
- [19:39] * Kopesh stares at him for a few seconds then nods. His expression which has been controlled, but still intense softens. "True enough and the free travel is a decnt perk too. I'm sorry, I'm just still a little shaken after watching him die. I've done reinactments my whole life, but that was the first real death that I've seen."
- [19:39] * Scribbles_ looks him over. "Mind explaining why..?
- [19:40] <~Headlong> Backwash gives another sagacious nod. "Mhm. I'm sorry to hear that, man. You know the guy at all?"
- [19:41] * Wishing_Well glances around, an ear twitching at "secrecy".
- [19:42] <~Headlong> Backwash blinks a little. "Whoa, whoa, whoa." He locks eyes with Wishing_Well. "You... You. Have we, like, met before?"
- [19:42] <Kopesh> "No, but it doesn't change the fact that he died because of all this secrecy stuff. Why does it all need to be secret? This stuff is deadly. Lettings those details out would solve a lot of the problems."
- [19:43] * Kopesh turns to see Wishing_Well. He didn't even know that he was here. "How did you get in here without guards stopping you?"
- [19:45] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic rubs Bonnet's shoulder gently. "Ms... I'm going to let you lie here for as long as you need. If you need anything at all, you ask. But I also want you to know that nothing is going to change unless you start communicating." With that, the doctor trots to his kettle and resumes his brewing.
- [19:45] * Giddy sighs. "I don't fucking know. I need to go fast. Now."
- [19:46] <~Headlong> Backwash shakes his head a little at Kopesh. "Nah, nah, man. He's cool. Really. I'm pretty sure I know this guy." He stands up and trots up to Wishing_Well, smiling from under his straw hat.
- [19:47] * Scribbles_ sighs and tilts her head. She'll never understand why stallions like to endanger themselves so much. "Maybe something a little less... Illegal?
- [19:48] * Kopesh shrugs. "Not like I care. It's just another display of this organizations expert competence at work."
- [19:49] * Bonnet opens her eyes slowly to glance at Relic as he walks off, dropping it back to stare back at the cushions after he's out of sight.
- [19:49] * Giddy grumbles then puts on a fake smile. "Do you have anything in mind?"
- [19:51] <~Headlong> It's worth noting that Wishing_Well was with Kopesh when they all entered the facility. Backwash addresses Kopesh's earlier concern. "And, as much as some of us would /like/ to leak this stuff to the public, here's the thing about large groups of ponies, man. They get scared /really/ easily. The unkown is really creepy, dig?"
- [19:51] * Scribbles_ scratches the side of her neck. "Maybe if you took up boxing, or something?"
- [19:52] * Wishing_Well continues smiling at Backwash. He knew this stallion, but... From where? There were so many events, he'd have to go through his pictures... Which he didn't have access to here.
- [19:53] * Giddy grumbles. "Fifty pounds too scrawny to do something like that."
- [19:54] <Kopesh> "Of course. That's why we should keep radiation and carbon monoxide poisoning as well as heart desease secret. Look, I get that you're defending their image and how they do things, but that doesn't mean that their way is the best. Regardless, is there anything more from me that you need. I don't know anymore about the spigot, we didn't dare try using it."
- [19:56] <~Headlong> Backwash would point out that we know science had a very solid understanding of how both radiation and CO poisoning work, but he just shakes his head. "Nah, nah. You guys did enough just bringing it here. Thanks. But you," he points to Wishing_Well. "Stick around for a while."
- [19:56] * Scribbles_ smiles, "Aww, some of the good fighters are the little guys. The ones that can get past the big 'ol hammer-hooved lugs," She said, imitating a boxer's bob and weave.
- [19:58] * Kopesh nods and would point out that he has no reason to believe that they don't know more than they're letting on about knowing how these things work. "I'll head out and file my report then." He heads for the door.
- [19:58] <~Headlong> Backwash gives a little wave. "Don't be a stranger, man.
- [20:00] * Kopesh smiles at him as he trots out. "I won't. You seem like a good guy. I respect the mix of coat and casual shirt. We'll surely be seeing each other again."
- [20:00] * Giddy leans in. "Do you wonder why they seperate lightweight and heavyweight boxers? It's because the heavyweights would /kill/ the lightweights. And yeah, I tried going lightweight. I got a whole lot of my flank being beat. It wasn't fun." He started walking towards the garage.
- [20:03] * Scribbles_ sighs, the movies were wrong again, "Well. Maybe you could take it out on some gym equipment? I'm sure they have some here."
- [20:05] * Giddy grumbles. "Oh, and get teased by the probably fucking ripped people here? No. That'll just get me more pissed off, but then tired and pissed off.
- [20:05] <~Headlong> Backwash turns his attention back to Wishing_Well as he closes the door behind Kopesh and dimmed his music.
- [20:06] * Kopesh finds a place to sit and do up that damn report...
- [20:07] <~Headlong> Kopesh finds plenty of seats in little cubbies, built into the walls of the spacious hallways. After a while, he senses a presence sit down nearby.
- [20:09] * Scribbles_ sighs again as they near the elevator, "Is there anything you can do, aside from break every speed limit in Manehatten?"
- [20:11] * Kopesh wants to just get the report done and filed and doesn't bother looking up to find out, but his paranoia is making him feel that it's Headlong finally come to give him his verbal beating about his outburst.
- [20:11] * Wishing_Well_ ([email protected]) has joined #fruityrumpusassholefactory
- [20:12] * Wishing_Well_ tilts his head at Backwash. "Yes?" he inquires, looking at the other stallion.
- [20:12] <~Headlong> It seems that, for once, paranoia is right. However, the Good Doctor doesn't seem very angry. Instead, she's floating a pair of coffee cups beside her, not unlike when they first met at Flint's. "I believe it's time we had a chat, Mr. Kopesh."
- [20:13] <~Headlong> Backwash claps him on the back, embracing him in a manly hug. "It's been, like, three years, man!"
- [20:14] * Wishing_Well ([email protected]) Quit ( Ping timeout: 121 seconds )
- [20:14] * Wishing_Well_ is now known as Wishing_Well
- [20:16] * Kopesh looks at her, happy to not see steam coming from her ears. He nods. "Alright, you mind if I finish this up first so it can be off by mind?"
- [20:16] <Kopesh> my*
- [20:16] <~Headlong> She gives a curt nod. "Of course. Take your time."
- [20:18] * Wishing_Well thumps a hoof on the other stallion's shoulder. "Indeed. I see your 'move' went well." he replies, chuckling.
- [20:19] * Kopesh finishes up, making sure everything is right while trying to be a little fast. He gets up, walks over to, and places the report on Task's desk with a relieved sigh. "All done. Anything else I need to do to make it official?"
- [20:19] <~Headlong> Backwash grins. "You bet, man. This is one hell of a setup... But you're here too, now, huh? Small freaking world."
- [20:20] <~Headlong> Task shakes her head and pats Kopesh's hoof lightly. "Nothing but my signature, deary. Enjoy the rest of your day, okay?"
- [20:21] * Kopesh nods with a grateful smile. "Thank you. You too." He turns to Headlong. "Alright, let's have that chat."
- [20:21] <~Headlong> She's standing at the door to the Management room, and leads him to her office. "Let's."
- [20:22] * Wishing_Well looks at the ceiling. "I suppose I am. Though, it's rather strange that those other ponies simply... Dragged me with them, into the 'foundation'." he says, the smile on his face getting wider.
- [20:24] * Kopesh follows her there.
- [20:24] <~Headlong> Backwash nods enthusiastically. "Hey man, that's just part of the job."
- [20:25] <~Headlong> Headlong brings Kopesh to her office. The space is messy, unorganized, and cluttered with various charts, maps, mineral samples, trinkets, and folders stuffed with papers. Her desk, though, is remarkably clean. "So."
- [20:26] * Kopesh takes in the surroundings then looks at her. "I'm sorry."
- [20:28] <~Headlong> She folds her hooves. "All right. Is that all you'd like to say?"
- [20:28] * Wishing_Well just laughs. "I suppose this means my report to the office is going to be postponed indefinitely." he muses aloud. "Now that I've been swallowed up by that little band, I trust I'm stuck here?"
- [20:30] <~Headlong> Backwash gives a little shrug. "I'm sure the Mad's will need to see you, but yeah, man. Welcome."
- [20:30] * Kopesh sits infront of her desk with another sigh. He opens his mouth then just shakes it. "I don't know. This has all just been a lot to take in."
- [20:31] <~Headlong> Headlong looks Kopesh over and nods slowly. "That's understandable."
- [20:33] * Wishing_Well blinks. "The 'Mad's'? No wonder you fit in so well." he says, barely suppressing a chuckle as he looks around the office.
- [20:34] * Kopesh looks at her a moment, not really surprised by her understanding and yet surprised that she's not talking about who's in charge and all that. "Thank you. Uh, what did you want to chat about?"
- [20:35] <~Headlong> Headlong shuffles some papers in a folder by the side of her desk. "It's clear to me that you have some issues with the way we conduct our operations."
- [20:36] * Scribbles_ ([email protected]) has left #fruityrumpusassholefactory
- [20:36] * Scribbles_ ([email protected]) has joined #fruityrumpusassholefactory
- [20:38] <Kopesh> "Yes, but you have ways of doing things and I know how to follow rules. If I want the money and perks I have to follow those rules even if I don't like them. Simple really. I lost my head because... well, I'd never been through anything like that before, I was scared."
- [20:38] <~Headlong> Backwash's office is... eclectic, in a word. Various colorful pipes of dubious use litter his shelves, which themselves are stuffed with books about chess, insects, mathematics, The Prench Revolution, and just about anything that interested him on any particular day. The entire left wall is covered with surfboards, expertly mounted to show off their sweet decals.
- [20:40] * Giddy simply says "Well..." He scoffed. "Yeah. I was planning on getting a bottle of whiskey and making tonight into making it go away. You down for that?"
- [20:40] <~Headlong> Headlong nods. "That's a very brave admission for a pony to make, Kopesh. Thank you. Would you believe me if I told you that I had complete confidence in you all?"
- [20:42] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic has returned to Bonnet's side, with a cup of tea in his hooves and a book in his telekinesis.
- [20:44] <Kopesh> "To be honest, I wouldn't believe you if you said you didn't have faith in us. You wouldn't have picked us if we weren't able to do the job. Still, lacking knowledge because of our low clearance makes these missions more dangerous for us, you know that."
- [20:45] <~Headlong> She leans forward a little. "Perhaps there's been a misunderstanding here. We knew as much as you did, up until our call."
- [20:46] * Scribbles_ sighs, "No thanks, I was hoping to have a quiet dinner at my usual spot, maybe with Kopesh." She looks up at Giddy. "Just try to keep your nose clean tonight, Giddy."
- [20:48] * Giddy growls. "Fine. See you." He had a T.V. full of Gear Shift, an intention to get liquored up, and nopony to get fucked up with. This was a travesty.
- [20:49] <~Headlong> Giddy recalls at least /one/ pony who might be up for such a thing.
- [20:49] * Kopesh shakes his head. "No, I mean if we were to know about the other things you've found. The other team clearly knew about pocket dimensions and recognized it on sight. If we had that kind of konwledge, Mr. Quarter might not have died."
- [20:50] * Scribbles_ starts back towards where she last saw Kopesh, "Seriously, be good." She reiterates before walking away.
- [20:51] * Giddy does remember. He heads on up to the garage and looks for a certain mare that left him with that Dodge Junction car he wanted.
- [20:52] * Wishing_Well coughs politely. "Well, how's it been out here?" he asks Backwash. "They loaded me with your jobs when you moved, not that I minded. More field work for me."
- [20:52] <~Headlong> Headlong shakes her head in turn. "The difficulty arrises when you have to train /every/ task force in /every/ intricacy of /every/ SCP. There are well over 1,500 SCPS that we know of, and even then, no two act the same. The Escape Ropes are a team of agents that /specialize/ in pocket dimensions."
- [20:53] <~Headlong> "To expect every agent to have that kind of expertise isn't practical."
- [20:53] <~Headlong> Backwash flutters back to his seat and props himself back up. "Paradise. I love working here, man."
- [20:54] <~Headlong> Speed Bump is currently flank-deep in a Lancer, tossing out loose bolts over her shoulder with reckless abandon.
- [20:56] * Giddy strolls up to Speed Bump and whistles to get her attention. "Hey. How would you like to get shitfaced and watch Gear Shift? Trottingham, not Manehattan."
- [20:58] <~Headlong> Speed Bump jumps out of her overalls and bangs her head on the hood of the Lancer. "Gah! Shit..." She turns to Giddy and blinks a few times. "There's a Manehattan Gear Shift?" She says with a knowing grin, still rubbing her head.
- [20:59] * Giddy smirks. "I /like/ you."
- [20:59] * Kopesh sighs. "Look, I know that you're not going to change anything because of me, but I know the difference between specialized and general. General task forces don't need to know the ends and outs of everything just the broad similarities and basic indentification tools. Then they call the specialists that know about that partucular field. 1500 of these things and you expect me to believe that they are all completely dif
- [21:01] <Kopesh> 1500 of these things and youexpect me to believe that they are all completelydifferent from each other? No catgories, nosimilarities? How do the Escape Ropes know thingsabout pocket dimansions if they are all completely different from one another?"
- [21:01] * Wishing_Well nods slowly. "Is that so~?" he chimes, looking around. "More freedom with your office, on top of being in a top secret organization? Must be the life of a royal."
- [21:02] <~Headlong> Headlong pushes her glasses up a little. "I do, Mr. Kopesh. As you've seen, the Escape Ropes aren't /perfect/. They couldn't save Mr. Quarter, and their record is less than spotless. There are catagories, there are similarities, but they are never /the same/."
- [21:03] <~Headlong> Speed Bump collects the crap she was tossing out of the Lancer and dumps it in her toolbox. She returns his smirk and trots to her 177. "I'll drive."
- [21:04] * Giddy smiles faintly and gets into the passenger seat. "Fair enough. I'd do something stupid on the drive back, anyway."
- [21:05] <~Headlong> "We /assign/ them to deal with pocket dimensions. We issue them a special SCP to deal with them, but it's only speculative on our part. The true nature of an SCP can only be determined if you actually observe it. That's partially why they have shorthoof names for things like "Type Two" or whatever they call it."
- [21:06] <~Headlong> "It's also partially why we have advance teams to send out before we call them in. If we sent the Ropes out to hunt for SCPs, and they were needed across the planet, what would we do?"
- [21:08] * RadioHooves is now known as Radio|Dinner
- [21:08] <~Headlong> Speed Bump slides into the driver's seat and the engine roars to life. "Might have to navigate for me."
- [21:09] <Kopesh> "So the Escape Ropes are generalists then"
- [21:10] * Giddy leans back. "Not that hard. Booze barn's a turn away from my place." He proceeds to give some simple directions. and leans back. That thunderstorm in his chest was still brewing.
- [21:10] <~Headlong> Headlong frowns. "No. What did I say that indicated that at all?"
- [21:11] <Kopesh> "Then why would you send them in as generalists?"
- [21:11] <~Headlong> Headlong blinks a few times. "We... don't. That's the point of them. Are you feeling all right, Mr. Kopesh? Do you smell fudge at all?"
- [21:13] <Kopesh> "You asked me what would happen if you sent them in after every SCP? That would make them generalists which you and I already agreed they are not and so shouldn't be sent in as generalists. They should be called in as specialists after the generalists identify the SCP as a pocket dimension."
- [21:13] <~Headlong> Headlong's jaw drops as the hypothetical nature of her question soars over Kopesh's head.
- [21:15] * Scribbles_ walks over to the cubbie where she last saw Kopesh, looking around for any sign of him.
- [21:16] * Kopesh laughs internally as Headlong clearly missed his point.
- [21:18] <~Headlong> Headlong furrows her brow. "I'm not following your logic, Mr. Kopesh."
- [21:19] * Kopesh scoots forward. "Ok. The Escape Ropes are pocket dimension specialists, yes?"
- [21:20] <~Headlong> Headlong nods. "Yes."
- [21:21] <Kopesh> "And, we're supposed to go in to identify what an SCP is so we can call in a specialist team, right?"
- [21:21] <~Headlong> Headlong nods again. "Yes..."
- [21:23] <Kopesh> "But, they way in which we found out that it was a pocket dimension was by blundering into it lierally. But, if we had only a basic knowledge of what a pocket dimension was or even just knew that they existed, we could have possibly identified it easier and faster."
- [21:23] <Kopesh> the way*
- [21:23] <Kopesh> literally*
- [21:24] <~Headlong> Speed Bump makes sure to not buy some trashy alcohol. She knew her stuff, and returned a few minutes later with a bottle of Firestone.
- [21:25] <~Headlong> Headlong purses her lips. "Ah, this is where our trains of thought deviate. We didn't know it was pocket dimension either. And to brief you on every possibile SCP type that could possibly be behind a lead is.. impractical and impossible."
- [21:25] * Kopesh thinks a moment. "Well... how many catagories are there?"
- [21:28] <~Headlong> Headlong rubs her temples in thought. "Well... we have at least one-hundred and fifty Specialist teams..."
- [21:30] * Radio|Dinner is now known as RadioHooves
- [21:32] * Kopesh pauses again as his self envisioned limited scope of SCPs is now getting bigger and bigger the more of these numbers come out. "Well... isn't there some overlap and wouldn't you have multiple teams for each type of SCP?"
- [21:32] <~Headlong> Backwash bows his head slightly. "Let me tell you, Wishing, this place hooks you up /good/."
- [21:33] * Giddy smirks. "Well, I was just thinking some Applejack's, but that works too."
- [21:33] <~Headlong> Headlong gives a shake of her head. "I'm not /entirely/ privvy to that information. Director Towers is the buck to ask, and he's... well..."
- [21:34] <~Headlong> Speed Bump snorts. "Applejack's? Pfff. Bucks down south wouldn't touch the stuff." She hefts the bottle of Firestone. "This is the real deal."
- [21:35] * Kopesh rolls his eyes. "Of course. I understand. Well, there's no way for me to change anything from where I am anyway. Is there anything else you wanted to talk about? I should probably let you get back to work."
- [21:36] <~Headlong> Headlong chuckles lightly. "Well, I have your next assignment," She floats him the second blue folder from almost a week ago. "should you like to peek at it with your team. I can hold on to it until your ready, though."
- [21:38] * Wishing_Well raises an eyebrow. "And what does it take from you I wonder..." he says, before shaking his head and laughing. "Probably already lost whatever it is. So where should I be going?"
- [21:38] * Kopesh holds up a hoof. I think we're all looking for a bit of a break. I even still need to see a doctor about my leg. And, also some time just to process all this."
- [21:38] <Kopesh> "I*
- [21:39] * Giddy smirks at her. "Girl, you haven't seen south enough, then. Where I grew up, ponies would fuck up their teeth and good on Lightning Phoenix wine and go watch the dirt track races."
- [21:40] <~Headlong> Backwash thumps a button near his computer. "Last Light, can you like, make sure my friend here gets to processing all quick and shit?
- [21:40] <~Headlong> There's a sigh on the other end. "Yes, Dr. Backwash." The buck beams. "Sweet. Follow my secretary, man. She'll hook you up."
- [21:41] <~Headlong> Headlong nods understandingly. "Do you think two days is break enough? I can't hold on to your boat reservations for eternity, mind you."
- [21:42] * Kopesh nods. "That should be fine. I'll let the others know."
- [21:43] <~Headlong> Headlong dismisses him, and begins signing reports with a reserved sigh.
- [21:43] <~Headlong> Speed Bump clicks her tongue and smirks back. "Whatever you say. We'll let the whiskey be the judge of that."
- [21:45] * Giddy made a kissyface, and then let her drive back to his place. "... Hey, Speed. How long you been in for?"
- [21:46] <~Headlong> Speed Bump tips her head a little. "What, the Foundation? Something like... two years."
- [21:47] * Wishing_Well chuckles. "So begins another chapter..." he muses.
- [21:47] * Kopesh heads out of her office to find the others, tell then, and get the fuck out of here.
- [21:47] <Kopesh> them*
- [21:48] * Giddy gets somber all of a sudden. "... You ever feel like you really didn't belong there?"
- [21:48] <~Headlong> Bonnet is still in Dr. Relic's office. Kopesh does find Scribbles_ meandering about the halls, though. Giddy is long gone.
- [21:49] <~Headlong> A mare in a dress-suit trots up to Wishing_Well and looks him over. By the sigh she gives, he can tell that it was the same pony that sighed at Backwash. "Follow me, sir."
- [21:49] <~Headlong> Speed Bump blinks. "Giddy, what's this about?"
- [21:50] * Scribbles_ smiles when she sees Kopesh approach. "Hey, did Miss Headlong pull you away for something?"
- [21:50] * Giddy grunts. "I'll tell you when I'm drunker. Humor me."
- [21:51] * Wishing_Well just keeps his countenance the same as usual and follows the mare. "Last Light, I presume?"
- [21:51] <~Headlong> Speed Bump huffs a little. "No. They offered me a job fixing cars, and I love fixing cars, I guess..."
- [21:51] <~Headlong> The secretary nods gently. "Indeed. Right this way."
- [21:51] * Kopesh smiles back. "She just wanted to make sure of some things. Nothing bad. Where are the others?"
- [21:57] * Scribbles_ looked back down the hall. "Bonnie's with a doctor, Giddy went home, I hope, and Wishing... I have no clue."
- [21:59] <Kopesh> "Alright. Let's go see Bonnet, I told Headlong that I'd let the others know that we get two days to ourselves before our next mission. I'm supposed to see a doctor about this leg anyway."
- [22:00] * Scribbles_ nods, directing the way to Dr. Relic's office.
- [22:01] * Kopesh follows her there and speaks to Bonnet when they arrive. "We have two days before we have to go on our next mission."
- [22:02] <~Headlong> When the pair arrive, they see the doctor himself sitting beside Bonnet. He shushes Kopesh as he speaks. "Please, sir. She's... well... she's not doing very well."
- [22:03] * Bonnet is still laying among the pillows, insensate.
- [22:04] * Kopesh looks at her. "I noticed, Giddy had to drag her around. Just tell her what I said if and when you get her coherant again."
- [22:05] <~Headlong> Dr. Relic gives a faint nod. "I'll... I'll be sure to..." he says, his voice tired and low.
- [22:06] * Giddy frowns. "Cool." He wanted to say that she was his best friend. He wanted to say that he had no idea what do even do here, that driving wasn't going to save him from a damn pocket dimension from hell. He didn't say either.
- [22:07] * Kopesh turns and starts walking out. "So Scribbles_, since Giddy left, I can't tell him. That means that you and I are now free."
- [22:07] <~Headlong> Speed Bump slides out of the car and smirks at him. "So are we gonna sit in this car all night, talking about our feelings, or are we going to get thrashed?"
- [22:10] * Scribbles_ smiles while walking alongside Kopesh, "I was hoping you'd say that. Dinner date?"
- [22:11] * Kopesh smiles back. "That sounds perfect."
- [22:11] * Scribbles_ puts a little hop in her walk. "I know just the place, then."
- [22:12] * Kopesh smiles wider at her happiness. "Sounds like you have this all planned out. I can't wait."
- [22:14] * Scribbles_ nods, calling the elevator down. "The best part is, it's not too far from here."
- [22:16] * Kopesh chuckles. "Perfect, I won't have to walk that far."
- [22:16] * Giddy nods, then opens up the door. For both him and her. "Yeah, sorry. Don't know what got into me." He escorted her to his apartment and turned on the T.V.
