  1. Mario Golf Super Rush is a C- of a game. If all you wish to do is to play a very simple golf game, this is it. It feels worse than any other Mario Golf game I've played in terms of controls and features and it pales in comparison to any Hot Shots/Everybody's Golf by a large margin.

  3.
  4. I love it:
  5. - "All at once" golf mode is a complete lifesaver for finishing online matches before someone quits.
  6.
  7.
  8. Good:
  9. - Spins have -way- more control. High spin characters can do goofy things.
  10. - Great character selection (and can use your Mii)
  11. - Very solid courses if you like no-nonsense golfing.
  12. - Built in mulligans for when you just fuck up a shot so bad you no longer want to play.
  13.
  14.
  15. Not sure why this changed:
  16. - Hitting mechanics
  17. - You have to lock in your top/backspin on the first A press now, which limits any last minute adjustments you can make if you accidentially locked in the wrong strength of shot.
  18. - Cannot follow the arc of the ball when setting up your shot. (Shooting is harder)
  19. - Cannot see the lie of where your ball is going to land without using the Range Finder, which feels clunky. It adds an extra step and I'm not sure what value it provides over just showing this detail on the screen. (Shooting is harder)
  20. - Flags remain in the holes 100% of the time (Shooting is easier)
  21. - Much harder to see the full arc of your shot, hard to tell if you'll clear a tree or not (Shooting is harder)
  22. - No super topspin, only regular topspin (but there is a super backspin)
  23. - Can no longer push a button to cancel your shot mid-shot, very nitpick issue, you can still not hit a button and be fine.
  24.
  25.
  26. Meh:
  27. - If you're not playing Speed Golf or Battle Golf, then 2 of the stats (Sprint Speeds and Stamina) have literally no use. They'll hit shorter and run faster but if you're not running you've got a gimped character.
  28. - Single player/Adventure Mode feels... burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. Overdone and underbaked.
  29. - Removed animations. Each character has 3 animations: Good (birdie+), OK (par), Bad (bogey+). These animations are the ONLY animations you have.
  30. - Speed Golf: neat concept but it sorta only really matters if you're playing people who are at a very similar skill level, as "best score" will still win most times unless you take a very, very long time to make your shots.
  31. - No way to interact with other players. No cheers or jeers in multiplayer.
  32. - Neat modes in Single Player/Adventure mode that you cannot play anywhere else. "Cross-Country Golf" or Boss Battles only show up here.
  33. - Nothing to "complete" outside of the Adventure mode and unlocking 2 club sets per character. No special unlocks for beating all the courses in a cool way.
  34.
  35. I hate it:
  36. - Online play doesn't let you see the scorecards after a match has completed (the moment someone leaves, scores are gone)
  37. - No replays/saved best shots
  38. - Very very basic stats (best score per course, and how many times you've gotten a birdie/eagle/etc per hole)
  39. - Only 6 courses and none of them have anything fun going on at all.
  40. - Online lag. While swinging your club is 100% client-side, watching your ball fly through the air is updated live and so if there is any lag you watch a very stuttery ball slowly fly and stop every second to load more. This lag is infuriating because it feels so completely pointless in modes where nobody is doing anything but hitting a ball in a deterministic game engine.
  41. - Single Player/Adventure mode let-downs:
  42. - You unlock cool clubs with special abilities (skip across the water, don't get slowed down by sand, no lightning strikes (this is a Wario power or shows up in some levels)) but the clubs aren't needed, I didn't even know I could buy them until I was trying to look around for ANY extra content I missed.
  43. - These clubs are only for adventure mode
  44. - The game goes from "who is this Scrub" to "You're the CHAMPION GOLFER" in less than 4 hours, there are only 6 courses so once you beat 3 you're sorta in the endgame.
  45. - The story feels so absolutely generic it's just a complete snoozefest right up until they drop ALL the story on you and then you beat a snowman and the game is over.
  46. - No, literally, I do not understand how the game goes from effectively tutorials only to "Here is the lightning sword to call down the ancient powers of the land you'll need this for your future endeavors to defeat the Snow King" (spoilers: you don't, I don't get what the improtance of this and the other 2 fabled items were they were just footnotes)
  47. - You have to "go to sleep" to advance the story like 3 times but I don't know... why. You can't sleep unless it tells you and all sleeping does is unlock the conversation option of "play the next match"
  48.
  49.
  50. Hot Take: If they removed all of single player adventure mode and replaced it with another course and some basic boring tournament single player mode (play each course with harder AI) I'd have more fun and I'd feel less cheated with how pointless the single player.
