  5. [2014-07-16 13:01:59] <Kkat> 3Bookwright asks, "Which one are we checking out?"
  6. [2014-07-16 13:02:05] <Kkat> 3CopyCat salutes. "Aye aye, Cap'n!"
  7. [2014-07-16 13:02:16] <Kkat> 3Golden_Dream suggests, "Th' closest sound good?"

  9. [2014-07-16 13:02:36] <Kkat> 3Noble_Heart and CopyCat turn and head towards the nearest of the stone structures rising above the jungle canopy. It's still some distance away, but they should make good time. The creatures flying around the top of the ziggurat may be cause for concern. Sooner or later, they will have to decide whether or not to put down and approach on hoof.

  12. [2014-07-16 13:06:44] * Golden_Dream frowns. "Hey. I ain't so sure we wanna be gettin' ourselves in th' middle of that swarm. Touch down kilometer back, we'll go th' rest o 'th' way up with canopy cover." She noted.
  13. [2014-07-16 13:08:20] * Noble_Heart looks down towards the ziggurat. "We can put down some distance away. Though walking so far through thick jungle may invite its own difficulties."
  14. [2014-07-16 13:09:28] * Shatara mumblepouts. "We couldprobably take em if we had them missiles strapped to us..."
  15. [2014-07-16 13:10:52] * Golden_Dream gives Shatara an even stare. "Tremendous waste 'a supplies when there's an easier option there."
  16. [2014-07-16 13:12:09] * Bookwright "Hum. After weighing the options, I vote we get as close as we can before we set down. We may wish to be able to escape quickly."
  17. [2014-07-16 13:14:08] * Golden_Dream grumbles. She doesn't like the idea of the beasties getting close to their hard-earned loot. "I say if we're doin' that, I'm spendin' a while makin' damn sure it's camouflaged."
  18. [2014-07-16 13:14:30] * CopyCat nods. "Okay, consensus is we set down somewhere first. Close by if we can, but that'll depend on finding space to land."
  19. [2014-07-16 13:14:40] <Kkat> 3As the group draws closer, the flying forms become more recognizable, and the first thought in most minds is "bloodwings".
  20. [2014-07-16 13:14:41] * Golden_Dream passes Shatara her binoculars. "Hey, whadd'y think they are?"
  21. [2014-07-16 13:15:58] * Shatara frowns. "...vampire fruitbats that have been doping up on evil?"
  22. [2014-07-16 13:16:16] * Bookwright arms the Twilight Cannon and swings it gently to aim at the flying creatures. "Those... Are those bloodwings?"
  23. [2014-07-16 13:16:41] * Get_Lost thinks fast, thinks science "okay, okay, don't panic... do we have some decent radio emiter on this thing?"
  24. [2014-07-16 13:16:50] <Kkat> 3Through the binoculars, the huge bat-like creatures are clearly not bloodwings, although they seem closely related. Their faces are more monkey-ish, and they have talons which resemble hellhound claws.
  25. [2014-07-16 13:17:00] * Golden_Dream furrows her brow. And then seems very, very shocked. "Copycat! Corolla! We are turning this thing around and finding a damn concealed route!"
  26. [2014-07-16 13:17:19] * Shatara balks. "Make that triple doses of evil..."
  27. [2014-07-16 13:17:29] * Bookwright "Um, if it was a firewagon it should have had a functioning radio, but I don't think we ever checked. Shatara? Do you know if this thing has an operating radio?"
  28. [2014-07-16 13:18:09] * Shatara tilts his head. "I uh...dunno?" He checks where such a device would most likely have been mounted.
  29. [2014-07-16 13:19:25] <Kkat> 3The firewagon does indeed have a radio, although not a currently operating one. Still, repairs are well within Shatara's skills. (Or Get_Lost's, if you want the radio to also have /extra/ functions, and possibly eat you.)
  30. [2014-07-16 13:19:27] * Get_Lost "they could not be bat-related... i'm not sure we can confound them with an improvised sonar..."
  31. [2014-07-16 13:20:22] * Noble_Heart blinks in confusiona nd does her best to turn the cart around to find a safe place to land. "They must be some indigenous species. Possibly changed by the apocalypse..."
  32. [2014-07-16 13:20:55] * Get_Lost "maybe they're friendly?"
  33. [2014-07-16 13:21:10] * Get_Lost "i think monkeys eat fruit?"
  34. [2014-07-16 13:21:18] * Bookwright "Get Lost... radio is not the same thing as sonar. However, I do have the jukebox gun. It would probably attract every single one of those thing's attention if I shot it off, but I think it would definitely hurt anything I hit with it.

  36. [2014-07-16 13:22:08] * CopyCat acks at the mention of demon monkeys. "New plan is hide farther away. I like the new plan."
  37. [2014-07-16 13:23:00] * Shatara tries to figure out how one would make a radio transmitter into a sound transmitter
  38. [2014-07-16 13:23:10] * Bookwright gently facehoofs. "Right. Yes. ANYways, I think we really should go with Kid's plan."
  39. [2014-07-16 13:24:34] * Bookwright waggles the twilight cannon. "I don't doubt I could shoot some of them down... but there are a lot of them."
  40. [2014-07-16 13:25:42] * Get_Lost "okay, but where do you think theyr nests are?"

  42. [2014-07-16 13:25:59] * CopyCat panics just a little. "And they'll carry us away to the Wicked Witch of the West!"

  44. [2014-07-16 13:26:36] * Get_Lost "that's a chance, actually... still, if we got water, we can fix any evil witch issue we could have"
  45. [2014-07-16 13:27:24] * Shatara patpats CopyCat reassuringlly.
  46. [2014-07-16 13:28:52] * Noble_Heart frowns as she continues to try and find a safe place to land. "They are definitely strange. Best to approach with caution."

  48. [2014-07-16 13:29:51] * Get_Lost "moreover, she could teach you how to be popular, po-pu-laaar! she'll teach you the proper ploys, when you talk to boys, little ways to flirt anf flounce!"
  49. [2014-07-16 13:30:53] * Golden_Dream looks at Get_Lost's robot. Something seemed weird about it. "Hey, Get. I gotta question fer' you. Why'd y' build that?"
  50. [2014-07-16 13:32:12] <Kkat> 3After a moment of study, and rummaging through all of the old lore that she learned back in the Bog, Golden_Dream decides that these things must be ahool.
  51. [2014-07-16 13:32:38] * Get_Lost is a little distracted by her impromptu musical number, but stops to reply to kid's question "well, because i wanted somepony to talk to, of course!"
  52. [2014-07-16 13:33:50] * Golden_Dream scratches her chin. "Hey, I think these things... I heard it from some old ghoul that went up this way, got lost, and came back. I thhhhink that they might be somethin' called an ahool."

  54. [2014-07-16 13:34:57] * Get_Lost "a hole? they son't look very empty to me..."
  55. [2014-07-16 13:38:50] * Golden_Dream looks back at them. "Stallion said that they're, like, weird flying bat monkeys that get their prey by divin' on them. I think. He seemed pretty shaken up by the whole deal. Y' can tell it's them, though."
  56. [2014-07-16 13:39:04] * Bookwright "I have a different idea. Why don't we set down, and I'll go say 'hi'?"
  57. [2014-07-16 13:40:08] * Shatara hmms. "If they hunt by diving...how would they respond to a threat from *above*...?"
  58. [2014-07-16 13:42:40] * Bookwright "Who says we need to threaten them?"
  59. [2014-07-16 13:43:13] * Golden_Dream shrugs. "I dunno. Y' wanna take on all o' them..." She paused. "I'd rather y' not try t' take on all o' them."
  60. [2014-07-16 13:43:51] * Shatara nods and hmms. "Definitely the downside of coming in from above...not much cover..."
  61. [2014-07-16 13:44:27] * Golden_Dream pans her sight at Bookie. "I'd recommend us creepin' up and gettin' in. Easier t' ask fer forgiveness than permission."
  62. [2014-07-16 13:45:44] * Bookwright shrugs. "If they're just animals, they shouldn't harm us if we don't look like food."
  63. [2014-07-16 13:46:11] * Get_Lost "ah... how are we supposed to not look like food?"
  64. [2014-07-16 13:46:30] * Shatara shrugs. "Not be ponies?"
  65. [2014-07-16 13:46:33] * Bookwright "I'm sure if we were just nice, they would be nice to us! That's Fluttershy's way."
  66. [2014-07-16 13:46:48] * CopyCat has an idea. "We could wear hats!"
  67. [2014-07-16 13:47:06] * Noble_Heart points out to Bookwright. "There are many creatures lacking the facilities to be 'nice'. Some of which like to eat ponies, or zebras."
  68. [2014-07-16 13:47:07] * Bookwright is already wearing a hat.
  69. [2014-07-16 13:47:35] * Shatara is wearing stabletech hardhat and lunar helmet. At the same time.
  70. [2014-07-16 13:47:51] * Bookwright has a pleading look in his eyes. "Can we at least not shoot first? Please?"
  71. [2014-07-16 13:48:08] * Get_Lost "i mean, i'm okay, and kid could pass for some not really interesting appetizer, but look at them! "points her hooves at the alicorns' plots "they're just BEGGING to be chewed! really, i don't understand if stallions in this group are all lustless ascetes or simply blind... those monkeybast won't have your same bad taste, bookie!"

  73. [2014-07-16 13:48:58] * Golden_Dream looks up. "I ain't positive, Bookie, but I'm thinkin' that they ain't really animals. Stuff that mutated tends t' forget kindness." She becomes somewhat consoling. "Hey, we ain't shootin' first. We goin' in and hopefully, they don't notice."

  75. [2014-07-16 13:51:19] * CopyCat makes matters worse by wiggling her behind.
  76. [2014-07-16 13:52:01] * Golden_Dream frowns. "Get_Lost, I can't help but think yer projectin' r' tryin' t' say somethin.
  77. [2014-07-16 13:52:03] * Get_Lost lets this animal handling thing to the experts and goes back working on her universal adapter thing
  78. [2014-07-16 13:53:07] * CopyCat wiggle wiggles.
  79. [2014-07-16 13:53:12] * Get_Lost "well, my projects always try to talk a lot. butr at the moment they only speak tatooine's steam condenser binary language... what's your point?"
  80. [2014-07-16 13:55:02] <Kkat> 3There is something slightly off about the design of the ziggurat. It wasn't noticeable from a distance, but it is more apparent now.
  81. [2014-07-16 13:55:33] * Get_Lost "hey, that zigurrat looks weird! do you think it could be some sort of vampony filled night club?"
  82. [2014-07-16 13:55:36] <Kkat> 3Noble_Heart spots a small break in the canopy that looks like a good place to set down.
  83. [2014-07-16 13:55:42] * Golden_Dream frowns and fusses with her mane, looking up and out anxiously. "I don't got a point. I'm hopin' yer gonna be quick t' give me one."
  84. [2014-07-16 13:56:30] * Get_Lost doesn't seem to understand
  85. [2014-07-16 13:56:34] * Noble_Heart gestures towards the ground, turning the cart. "This way!" She leads for CopyCat towards the landing zone.
  86. [2014-07-16 13:58:54] * Golden_Dream follows Noble. "Corolla, you got this?" She looked between the alicorns and realized that she didn't think anyone started off by using their real names. She's halfway sure that Bookie's real name is something else. "CopyCat, y' mind if I call y' Lenore?"
  87. [2014-07-16 13:59:30] * Get_Lost follows the others, but brings her projects and a pencil with her
  88. [2014-07-16 14:01:36] <Kkat> 3The chosen spot has the merits of being fairly flat and large enough for the alicorns to guide the wagon in and out easily. However, the surrounding trees and underbrush make it impossible to travel with the firewagon on the ground.
  89. [2014-07-16 14:02:19] * CopyCat works with Noble_Heart to set the wagon down and glances back at Golden_Dream. "No, I don't mind. Lenore is my name. The more you say it the more I'll remember it." And the more I'll /want/ to remember it, she left unsaid.
  90. [2014-07-16 14:02:50] * Noble_Heart carefully begins unstrapping herself as she eartwitches in the direction of Golden Dream. "It will be best if we stick close. There's no telling how dangerous these creatures may be."
  91. [2014-07-16 14:02:53] * Bookwright looks down. "Looks good from here. Bring us down then."
  92. [2014-07-16 14:03:20] * Golden_Dream looks at CopyCat, somewhat conspiratorially. "Alright, Lenore? Can y' do me a favor?"
  93. [2014-07-16 14:03:45] * Get_Lost checks her stuff, especially the medical supplies she's taking with her
  94. [2014-07-16 14:03:54] * Bookwright hops off the firewagon and stretches his legs. "...Ahhh. Better. Now, to set off!" He immediately begins bushwacking his way towards the tower.
  95. [2014-07-16 14:04:44] * CopyCat nods at Golden_Dream. "Sure."
  96. [2014-07-16 14:05:28] * Golden_Dream looks back at Get_Lost. "She's been actin' more weird than usual. Yer better with talkin' t' folk than I am. Y' think that y' can find out what's up and how t' get her back t' not actin' as weird?"
  97. [2014-07-16 14:07:51] * CopyCat tilts her head. "Alright, I'll see what I can do."
  98. [2014-07-16 14:10:26] <Kkat> 3Bookwright hasn't bushwacked very far when Shatara and CopyCat notice the blur of color slithering through the underbrush towards him.
  99. [2014-07-16 14:12:57] * CopyCat Eeeps and tries to lift Bookwright up and out of the slithering thng's reach with telekinesis.
  100. [2014-07-16 14:13:35] * Bookwright flails in the TK field. "HEY!"
  101. [2014-07-16 14:13:50] <Kkat> 3(OOC correction: ...slithering out of the underbrush he is forging through and towards CopyCat.)
  102. [2014-07-16 14:14:52] <Kkat> 3(OOC: Couatls don't attack people with Fluttershy's Apostle. Sorry about that.)
  103. [2014-07-16 14:15:30] * CopyCat realises a moment later that Bookwight wasn't the target at all!
  104. [2014-07-16 14:18:37] * CopyCat hysterically leaps into Shatara's arms and points one hoof at the thing. "Ss-s-s-slithery thing!"
  105. [2014-07-16 14:19:13] * Bookwright falls in a heap. "Slithery thing? Where? I wanna hug it!"
  106. [2014-07-16 14:19:53] * Get_Lost doesn't see the thing, for now
  107. [2014-07-16 14:21:21] * Golden_Dream 's fur on the nape of her neck stands upright, hooves spread in anticipation. She didn't know where it was, but she knew it was quick!
  108. [2014-07-16 14:21:31] * Noble_Heart blinks in surprise at the sudden commotion. "What's going on?" She turns to that direction and moves quickly towards her friends.
  109. [2014-07-16 14:22:58] * Shatara fumbles with copycat in his arms and trys to draw a shooty and/or stabby thing.
  110. [2014-07-16 14:35:18] * Shatara pulls CopyCat against himself in his left arm and smoothly draws his rifle with his right, aiming it straight armed as he slips into SATS and gives zero fucks whatsoever.
  111. [2014-07-16 14:37:44] * Bookwright leaps forward across Shatara's line of fire, hoof outstretched, shouting "WAAAAIIIIT!"
  112. [2014-07-16 14:39:49] <Kkat> 3The couatl draws up, hissing. Although perhaps that's mostly because Bookwright just stepped between her and her prey.
  113. [2014-07-16 14:40:22] * Bookwright hugs the couatl. "WHO'S MY FAVORITE FEATHERY SERPENT THING? YOOUUU ARRREEE!"
  114. [2014-07-16 14:40:39] * Shatara blinkblinks.
  115. [2014-07-16 14:40:49] * Get_Lost looks at the couatl "wow, that's a pretty ponykiller..."
  116. [2014-07-16 14:40:58] * Noble_Heart watches Bookwright like he's lost his mind.
  117. [2014-07-16 14:41:48] * Bookwright scritches it under its chin.
  118. [2014-07-16 14:42:47] * Golden_Dream blinkblinks. Has- Has Bookie gone crazy.
  119. [2014-07-16 14:42:58] * Bookwright "Woooow, your wings are soooo pretty! Do you and Shatara go to the same stylist?"
  120. [2014-07-16 14:43:05] <Kkat> 3The couatl closes her eyes and hisses.
  121. [2014-07-16 14:43:26] * Bookwright puts a hoof to his mouth. "Ooop, didn't mean to let that name slip. Oh well!" He hugs the creature again.
  122. [2014-07-16 14:47:36] * Get_Lost shrugs. bookie seems to have it under control, so she goes back to her calculations
  123. [2014-07-16 14:49:03] * Golden_Dream tilts her head. Is- is this what she looks like when she's talking to spirits and stuff? Wow.
  124. [2014-07-16 14:49:51] * CopyCat trembles with her eyes closed. "Is... is it gone?"
  125. [2014-07-16 14:50:09] * Bookwright "No? It's still here!"
  126. [2014-07-16 14:50:45] * Bookwright keeps hugging.
  127. [2014-07-16 14:50:52] * CopyCat climbs up Shatara even higher.
  128. [2014-07-16 14:51:38] * Get_Lost "looks like the antidote for its poison is cuddling..."
  129. [2014-07-16 14:52:09] * Bookwright "You're not going to hurt my friends, are you? 'Cause that would hurt me!"
  130. [2014-07-16 14:52:14] * Get_Lost "but you have to give it before it strikes and to the couatl"
  131. [2014-07-16 14:58:58] <Kkat> 3The couatl looks vaguely disappointed, but nods.
  132. [2014-07-16 14:59:43] * Golden_Dream sits there with jaw agape. Seriously? Did Bookie just hug a snake to team good guy?
  133. [2014-07-16 14:59:58] * Bookwright is very cheered by this news. "YAY! You're the best! If you want, you can come with us! We're gonna go explore that big tower thing over there!" He points.
  134. [2014-07-16 15:00:14] * Golden_Dream looks at Shatara. "Um. You got any meat for our new buddy?"
  135. [2014-07-16 15:00:39] * Shatara drops CopyCat and reslings his rifle, his moment of badass completely destroyed.
  136. [2014-07-16 15:03:40] * Noble_Heart just sortof looks at Bookwright and the snake in some disbelief and confusion. "That is a most potent spell." She mutters quietly under her breath before looking up towards the ziggurat in the distance.
  137. [2014-07-16 15:04:00] * Bookwright "It's a hug. Do you want one too?"
  138. [2014-07-16 15:05:27] * Bookwright "How about you Shatara? Do you want a hug?"
  139. [2014-07-16 15:07:37] <Kkat> 3Mare-Do-Well watches quietly. She knew Fluttershy long enough for this turn of events to not even raise an eyebrow. She's also known Fluttershy long enough to completely understand how Shatara feels.
  140. [2014-07-16 15:09:50] * Golden_Dream points forward. "We should, uh. We should get going before they spot us. Grab yer cuddlebuddy, Bookie, and let's get goin'."
  141. [2014-07-16 15:10:16] * Bookwright "Yes, yes. Right. Okay Scales, ready to go? Okay!"
  142. [2014-07-16 15:11:30] * Get_Fail follows, muttering "wow, this explains A LOT"
  143. [2014-07-16 15:12:14] <Kkat> 3The couatl slithers up over Bookwright and coils about his neck and torso.
  144. [2014-07-16 15:12:56] * Golden_Dream gives Copycat a look, darting back to Get_Fail.
  145. [2014-07-16 15:13:07] * Bookwright "Oof! You're heavy, Scales. But I can carry you! I think. Um. Anyways, uh, Noble Heart? CopyCat? Shatara? Get Lost? Kid? I, uh, forgot the way to the zigga-thingy. Which way?"
  146. [2014-07-16 15:13:44] * Noble_Heart face hoofs and sighs. She steps past Bookwright in the direction of the ziggurat.
  147. [2014-07-16 15:14:18] * CopyCat follows but gives Bookwright and his passenger a wide berth.
  148. [2014-07-16 15:15:19] * Get_Fail seems to be more ocupied in calculations than anything else, and doesn't seem happy about whatever she's thinking right now
  149. [2014-07-16 15:19:49] <Kkat> 3Shortly before they should reach the ziggurat, the group brushes past thick leaves and hanging vines and comes to a break in the tree line. They find themselves on the edge of a cliff -- a chasm cuts between them and the ruins, carved by the river flowing below. The chasm is deep but narrow.
  150. [2014-07-16 15:19:59] <Kkat> 3The remains of a severed rope bridge dangle down the side of the opposite cliff.
  151. [2014-07-16 15:21:00] * Bookwright "Huh. Hey Shatara, do you think you're strong enough to haul up that rope bridge?"
  152. [2014-07-16 15:23:58] * Get_Fail "just dont' accept to join any group of supercool athletes working for a greater evil whil fixing the bridge, 'mkay?" goes back scribbling
  153. [2014-07-16 15:24:09] * Golden_Dream frowns. Once again, another situation where she had to rely upon someone else to fly her over. "... I can already see where this is goin'."
  154. [2014-07-16 15:25:10] * Get_Fail mutters to herself "blood could be the answer..."
  155. [2014-07-16 15:28:30] * Noble_Heart looks down into the chasm. "We might be able to levitate the bridge up. Though it is very large so We are uncertain." She looks towards the other two capable of flight in the group. "It might be safer to simply carry those who cannot fly across."
  156. [2014-07-16 15:29:53] * Bookwright "I think we should fix it though. Would be better in the long run."
  157. [2014-07-16 15:31:32] * Golden_Dream looks back, seeming worried with Get_Fail. Copycat hadn't approached her yet. Which means, she's going to have to.
  158. [2014-07-16 15:34:29] * Golden_Dream sighs, then hangs back.
  159. [2014-07-16 15:36:19] <Kkat> 3Golden_Dream notices some of the jungle trees overhang the chasm. It might be possible for her to avoid having to be flown across with a bit of athletics and the use of one of those vines.
  160. [2014-07-16 15:39:40] * Golden_Dream grins, Hmm... This was a ridiculously dangerous idea, but fuck it. It's been a while since she felt like she could handle her own problems. "Get, you and Lenore go ahead and have a chat. I'm gonna go do somethin' stupid."
  161. [2014-07-16 15:41:14] * Get_Fail shrugs "sure..."
  162. [2014-07-16 15:42:21] * Golden_Dream gets up on a jungle tree and beings to climb. Assuming she got up there, her plan was to, in fact, go ahead and swing over the chasm.
  163. [2014-07-16 15:45:53] * CopyCat approaches Get_Fail and scuffs the ground with her hoof. "Sooo... are you feeling alright?"
  164. [2014-07-16 15:46:43] * Get_Fail "yes and no... i'm trying to make this battery thing work, but i met some problem."
  165. [2014-07-16 15:48:26] * Get_Fail "you see... to start a reaction you need a vouple of things: reagents, energy and possibly a catalyst... u have the chemical part done and the energy thing is covered... still, i can't find the proper reagent..."

Within the recess, a ruby of immense size catches the sunlight, making the "eye" seem to glow demonically. The stone flow splits around what would have been the sculpture's "mouth", revealing a gaping opening filled with stairs.
