  1. SCP-XXXX
  2. Object Class: Euclid
  3. Safe Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX must be kept in a small container kept at a constant temperature of 100˚ C. This is to prevent any moisture from building up within the container.
  4. Description: SCP-XXXX is a group of metal filings of unknown origin. The anomalous properties of the filings only occur when they are submersed in water. Within water, the filings take on a sort of semi-sentience. The filings will move through the body of the water of their own accord, without the presence of currents or any other influencing force. When a piece of meat falls into the pool of water inhabited by the filings, they will surround the meat and form a sphere around it. They will then, through an unknown process, decrease the water pressure within the sphere. The filings can maintain the difference in PSI between the inside of the sphere and the outside flawlessly. The flilings will continue to decrease the pressure until the prey ruptures, and then the difference in PSI within the sphere is released, crushing the prey. This process will be repeated until the prey has been reduced to a fine mist within the water. The filings then move about through the mist, and it will slowly disappear. It is assumed that the filings feed via this process, because if the shards do not feed once a day, their movements will become slower and slower until, on the 8th day, the movement of the filings cease entirely, and they will remain inert for another eight days, whereupon the filings will resume normal paced movement.
  5. Addendum: when the prey struggles to escape, SCP-XXXX has been observed to cause a small whirlpool to trap it.
