➴ Background: iseul always grew up in seoul. she had an older sister, whom she's very close to.  growing up iseul had plenty of friends. however, her best friend happened to be park sooyoung (joy). they both shared the same interest in the music industry. her sister was very supportive and cared for her iseul a lot, along with her parents also. together joy and iseul went and auditioned in 2012. they both got in and continued to train together. during iseul's training her sister, who was always there for her, was getting ready to move to america. soomin was going to study at yale but promised to keep close contact with her sister. which she still does to this day. her sister has even been teaching her english for the 2 years.

➴ How Did You Meet Him & First Impressions: iseul and joy were walking to one of the practice rooms. joy had practice with the rest of red velvet, and iseul was just tagging along to watch. while the two were talking and laughing, iseul who's very chatty wasn't paying attention to anything but the conversation. so while not knowing her surroundings, she ran right into a door. which had just been opened by chen. when she first hit the door, pain and annoyance ran through her mind. she couldn't help but say "ow" once hitting the ground. having such a massive headache, she knew she'd be there for awhile. therefore, she told joy to go ahead, worried she'd be late. leaving her sitting with chen, who was howling with laughter.
