Open to a battlefield where samurai are fighting to the death with the numbers dwindling.
Shido is fighting amongst them. After taking down another foe, he thinks to himself that he's almost finished and he can return to her side.
Suddenly he's struck and he collapses. This is the end for him. During his final moments, he can only think of Kasumi, apologizing that this time he couldn't keep his promise.

Returning to Mei's room, Mei cries after reading the pivotal climax of the story.
Fuyuko is surprised Mei is at the point of tears. Mei explains through the tears that "It's because...Shido and Kasumi shared mutual love,
but are now separated by his death. It's too tragic!" While Fuyuko agrees, she queries Mei who was cast to play the role of Shido in the promotional movie.
Unsure what Fuyuko is implying, Mei answers that she is. Fuyuko elaborates that the reason Mei was chosen for the role was because she fit the reserved image of the role.
While it's fine to be passionate about the work, does she think she can act as Shido in her current condition?

Mei concedes that it's unbecoming of her role, so she'll steel her emotions by the time they shoot. She asks if Fuyuko is fine with the death of Shido.
Fuyuko says while it struck a chord, it didn't affect her as much as Mei. Mei is impressed with how strong Fuyuko is.
Fuyuko tells her that she better be in top shape by the time they start filming, otherwise Fuyu wouldn't want to be protected by her. After all, Fuyuko is playing the role of Kasumi.
Mei will do her best.

Changing subjects, Fuyuko wonders where Asahi went off to. She said she was taking a break, but has yet to return. She wanted to finish reading over the original source material before the day was over.
They hear Asahi yell "Sorya" outside and it becomes clear where she's been. Asahi and Mei's little brother are outside playing pretend sword fighting with branches.
Mei mentions that Asahi is set to play the role of Shido's partner, Koushiro, who's relatively similar to the way Asahi is. Perhaps maybe she can get away without reading the source material...?
Fuyuko shuts down the idea, and they both head outside.

Before Asahi continues striking, Mei calls out to her. Asahi asks if they wanted to join in, but Fuyuko in Fuyu mode urges that they should continue with work.
Mei's little brother is surprised to hear that Asahi-chan didn't come over to play and apologizes to Fuyuko. Fuyuko responds that it isn't his fault and he has no need to apologize.
Fuyuko tells Asahi they should return to work, but Asahi seems reluctant to stop playing. Mei watches, contemplating a method to appease both parties. Mei comes up with an idea, to treat it as practice.

Mei picks up a branch, and enters Mei-sama mode, challenging Asahi to a duel. If Asahi defeats her, she can continue playing a bit longer. However, if Mei wins, she must listen to whatever Fuyuko says.
Asahi is all for it. Mei commends her spirit, and their duel commences.

"You absolutely must go?" Kasumi implores Shido.
"Yes."
"I've heard this war will be fierce...Even then, you say you will certainly return-"
"Kasumi, I've never once broke a promise."
"Shido-sama"
"I promise you this time as well. I absolutely will not fall"
(and I will return to your side alive)
"Yes, I believe you. I will always wait upon your return."
Shido leaves the premises.

Koushiro calls out to Shido
"Yo, you plan on heading out alone?"
"Koushiro?"
"It'll be quite tough to do this one by yourself, even for you."
"Wouldn't it be best to have a helping hand at your side?"
"...I can't guarantee your life's safety."
"Haha, that may be the case."
"But two is better than one, don't you think?"
"If consider all the times you and I have crossed the threshold of life and death, you'd figure it's not a bad idea?"
"Do as you please"
"...Man, even up to now you're never honest."

Messages on SNS are raving about Straylight's promotion movie. "Not being familiar with the source, they ended up becoming interested afterwards and bought all the volumes" one post says.
Mei is happy to see it become a hot topic. Fuyuko considers the promotional movie a success with how well recieved it was among even those who were not familiar with the original source.
Mei's glad the results reflected all the practice they did.
Asahi is curious about the line Mei would sometimes tear up over whenever she read it.
"Well, it's because...At the end like, isn't it totally tragic?"
"When your character dies?"
"Right Right, I won't be able to see Kasumi agai-" (She says this as if she were Shido)
"-Are you continuing your role?"
"-Ufu...You're still attached aren't you."
"No, just now was a mistake..."
...Maybe it wasn't huh? Ahaha..."
"Well, what's wrong with that? That just shows how passionate you are about it."
"Thanks, Fuyuko-ch..."
"or rather, Kasumi"
"...Don't wrap me into this"
"Ahaha, we should continue sword fighting too!"
"Sure thing~! This time we don't have obligations, so we can do it a ton!"
Mei channels her inner-Shido
"Come, Koushiro"
