  5. Above the silent Yamaku campus, the stars were in rare form tonight. Shining with a twinkling brilliance that could only be achieved in the contrast of the dark void of space, the silent sentinels gazed down upon their favorite daughter.
  6.
  7. In a dark dorm room, a young woman found herself in a rare, though decidedly less brilliant predicament. Shining with an electric hue that matched the girl's hair, a random assortment of electronics lay haphazardly on the floor. An assortment of books and half-finished sketches kept their electronic neighbors company. Random other (soft, always soft) objects completed the messy mosaic. The owner of all these items lay in the middle of her nest, currently typing away at her keyboard with a fierce determination.

  9. ">implying you understand the concept of privilege
  10. >implying you understand that feminism isn't about degrading men
  11. >implying you don't have autism
  12. >implying you aren't mad right now"
  13.
  14. With a final triumphant keystroke, she posted her scathing retort. She usually didn't like to be aggressive when it came to her feminist rants, but she had been awake for almost 50 hours, and she was starting to wear thin. Most people thought narcolepsy would be pretty cool. You know, with the whole 'medical excuse to nap in class' or whatever. They didn't understand that you couldn't honestly sleep all the time. The body had a way of balancing these things out, you know? So cue random, week-long bouts of insomnia. Suzu didn't really mind, though. It gave her a chance to catch up on homework, to pop open her DS and catch 'em all, to download the newest Riot Grrrl, to actually finish drawings, to...well, to experience life. The way other kids did.
  15.
  16. 'Well, maybe not just like everyone else,' she thought, 'More like if the common student was nocturnal. Like Batman! No, wait. Like Batgirl! She kicks ass. More ass than Robin, anyway. She could hold her own against the patriarchy any day.'
  17.
  18. Grinning a tired smile, she pulled her drawing notebook over to her and, using the lights from her motley assortment of electronics ('I really need Miki to replace that lamp she broke') began a rough sketch of herself in a Batgirl costume.
  19.
  20. As she was prone to do when she traveled on these bouts of fancy, here eyes were soon drawn to her window and the world beyond.
  21.
  22. 'The stars are so pretty tonight... I wonder how they do it. Being awake all the time. They're just like me. Kinda. They sleep all day and come out at night,' she mused with a snort. 'I wonder if they ever get tired. They must, shining so bright like that all the time,' a yawn punctuated her thoughts. 'Maybe I should join the Astronomy Club. I could uncover their secrets. They're probably easier to understand than some idiot boy.' Another yawn. Suzu grabbed her body pillow and yanked it close. 'I can do that tomorrow, though. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. Tomorrow...'
  23.
  24. With a soft sigh, the girl with the sea-foam hair fell into a slumber, as she had so many times before. High above her, the silent guardians held vigil over their favorite daughter, and a sparkling blue star shone a little bit brighter.
