Chapter 140 - A Flower in Each Hand

　結婚式から二週間後。
　俺はシルフィとロキシーを連れて、町に出ることにした。
　ノルンとアイシャの誕生日プレゼントを購入するのだ。

　パーティはサプライズにする事にした。
　こっそり準備して、妹二人を驚かせるのだ。

　わざわざ三人で出てきたのには別の理由もあるが、ひとまず置いておこう。

It's been two weeks since the wedding. I ended up heading to town with Sylphy and Roxy in tow. We were going to buy birthday presents for Aisha and Norn.

We decided to make the party a surprise. We'll prepare in secret, and then shock those two sisters of mine.

There's another reason why I went out of my way to bring the two of them along, but let's leave that for now.

　広場までやってきた。

　最近は収穫期という事もあってか、町中はずいぶんと賑わっている。
　馬車が行き交い、人々が笑顔で野菜や果物を売っている。
　この時期は食料品が安く、新鮮でうまい。

　広場の中央では、櫓のようなものが組まれている。

　もうじき収穫祭だ。
　祭りといっても、広場にてキャンプファイヤーをしつつ、収穫物のごった煮が作られ、酒と一緒に振る舞われるだけだ。
　それ以外に特にイベントがあるわけではない。
　火を囲み、大地の恵みに感謝しつつ、飯を食うだけ。
　歌を歌ったり、躍ったりもしない。
　ちなみにごった煮は鍋をもって訪れればタダでもらえるらしい。
　去年、俺がいない時期にアイシャがもらってきたのだとか。
　なんでもかんでも、入れるからあんまり美味しくない、と言っていた。
　今年は食えるだろうか。
　まずいならまずいで興味がある。

We reached the plaza.

It might have been because it was harvest time, but the town was really crowded. Horse carriages were going here and there, and people were selling fruits and vegetables with smiles. Food is cheap, fresh and delicious during this season.

Something like a stage was sitting in the middle of the plaza.

It's almost time for the harvest festival. Though I say festival, all that happens is that there's a large fire in the plaza, a stew is cooked from the harvest, and people drink together. There aren't really any events beyond that. There'd just be a fire, and whilst being thankful for the blessings of the land, we'd drink. There wasn't any singing nor dancing.

Incidentally, it seems that if you bring a pot, you can get that stew I mentioned for free. Last year while I wasn't here, Aisha had gone to get some. It seemed that even though she had gotten some, it wasn't very tasty. I wonder if I'll get to eat some this year. Even if it's crap tasting, that in itself is interesting.

「相変わらず、この時期は賑やかですね」
「そうだね、この時期はいろんな人が来るからね」

　ロキシーが物珍しげに周囲を見回し、シルフィが答える。

　商人が行きかい、学生が興味深そうに露天を覗き、
　農家が大きな手押し車に一杯の野菜を積んで通り過ぎ、
　冒険者が、肩が振れた振れないので喧嘩をする。
　これほど喧騒に包まれた魔法都市シャリーアはこの時期だけだ。

　広場にはやけに獣族の姿を見かける。
　鉈のような剣をもった、屈強な獣族だ。
　こっちも祭りだ。

　ちょうどこの時期、リニアとプルセナの発情期が重なるらしく、各地から我こそはと思う勇者たちが魔法大学目指して集結している。
　リニアとプルセナも、そろそろ婿を手に入れるつもりだそうで、今年は彼らと真正面から戦うそうだ。
　ただ、古式には則らず、自分たちに勝った相手から選ぶと公言していた。

　剣術は聖級以上、魔術は上級以上、冒険者ならA級未満は認めない、毛並みがよく、荒々しくも紳士的で、耳と尻尾がピンと立った男がいい。
　なんて言ってたが、さすがに高望みしすぎだと思う。

　まあ、せいぜいいい相手を見つけて欲しいと思う。
　俺みたいにな。

"This time of year is always lively, huh."

"Isn't it? There are a lot of people this year, huh."

Roxy was looking around in curiosity, and Sylphy replied.

Merchants were coming and going, students were looking about in interest, farmers were bringing barrows filled to the brim with vegetables, and adventurers were ★. It was only during this time of year that this city had so many fights.

I spotted a huge number of Beast People in the plaza. They were robust Beast People, wielding wide machete-like swords. It's lively over here too.

It seemed that Pursena and Linia would go into heat soon, and lots of Beast People aiming for them themselves were gathered in the Magic University. It seems that Rinia and Pursena plan on getting a husband soon, so this year they're properly fighting with the suitors. However, unlike tradition, they declared that they'd choose from the suitors that beat them instead.

Saying something about how a man of at least Saint Ranked in swordsmanship, Advanced Rank in magic, at least an A-ranked adventurer, was of good lineage, was both wild and gentlemanly, and had a taut tail and ears would be good. I think they really are aiming too high.

Well, I do hope that they at least find someone good. Like me.

　右にシルフィ。
　左にロキシー。
　まさに両手に花である。

On my right is Sylphy. On my left is Roxy.

This is truly 'having a flower in each hand'.

「なあ、シルフィエットさんに、ロキシーさんや」
「なにかな、ルーデウスさんや」
「なんでしょう」

「腕を組みませんか？」

　唐突に思いついた提案である。
　男なら誰しも、一度ぐらいは夢に見るだろう。
　両側に女性を従えてモテモテ感を演出するというのは。

　かつて、俺もそんな男を見て、唾を吐く側だった。
　しかし、その心の奥底では憧れていた。
　やってみたいと思っていたのだ。

"Heyhey, Sylphiette-san, Roxy-san."

"Whatever is the matter, Rudeus-san?"   "What is it?"

"Shall we link arms?"

I frankly proposed the idea I just thought up. If you're a man, you want to dream at least once. Accompanied by a woman in each arm, and making a show of being popular.

In the past I hated these sorts of men, and was on the side that spat on them. However, deep in my heart, I longed for it too. I wanted to try it as well.

「うん」
「……はい」

　右側からシルフィがスッと。
　左側からロキシーがおずおずと、腕を組んでくる。

　おお、これで俺も羨望の眼差しにさらされる復活のキリストだ。
　なんと心地よい羨望の眼差しか！

　なんてな。
　思ったより、他人は俺の事など見ていないようだ。
　商人は忙しそうで、獣族の戦士たちは足早に魔法大学へと急いでいる。
　学生はこちらを見ているが、すぐに視線を逸らす。
　冒険者も、酒場ならまだしも、往来でヤジを飛ばすほど暇ではないようだ。

　だが、俺の心は満たされた。
　例えばこれ。
　特に、右腕に当たるこの感触。
　かつてのシルフィでは感じられなかった、あれとこれの感触。
　あれとこれなんて他人行儀な言い方をするもんじゃないな。
　乙(おつ)と丙(ぱい)だ。

　この俺が、女に胸を当ててもらって歩いている。
　そんな単純な事が俺の心は満たすのだ。
　前世で乾ききった青春砂漠を生き抜いた俺の心を、潤すのだ。

　このオアシスも、もう少しすればエリナリーゼと双璧をなすミニマムサイズに戻ってしまうのだろう。
　つまり、この二つは幻の島。
　宝島は本当にあったんだ。

　もちろんシルフィだけではない。
　左側のロキシーも、貧しいものをしっかりと押し付けてくれている。
　だが、決して無いわけではない。
　俺の鍛えられた腕に、ロキシーの柔らかい部分が当たっているのを感じる。

　ああ、素晴らしい。
　鍛えた筋肉に感謝だ。
　この硬さがなければ、この柔らかさの感動は半減だったろう。
　おお、嫉妬するな我が上腕二頭筋よ。
　お前は素晴らしい。

"Mn." "Okay."

The frank Sylphy on my right.

The nervous Roxy on my left.

I linked arms with them both.

Ohhhh, with this I'm also like the revived Christ who was exposed to the envy of others. What a pleasant feeling it is!

Just kidding. People are paying less attention to me than I'd expected. The merchants seem to be busy, and the Beast Race warriors are walking quickly towards the Magic University. Though the students look this way, they immediately look away. The adventurers as well aren't so bored that they'd jeer at us. If they had the free time, they'd rather head to a bar.

But even so, I feel satisfied. For example, this: this sensation on my right arm. It's something that I couldn't feel from Sylphy in the past. Let's not stand on ceremony here: I'm talking about her boobs.＊

I'm walking around with breasts pressed against me. Just a simple thing like that is enough to fill my heart with satisfaction. This heart of mine that lived through the dry desert of youth in my past life has finally found water.

In just just a short while, this oasis will return to Elinalise's 'minimum size'. In other words, these two things of hers are imaginary islands. The treasure island really did exist.

Of course it isn't just Sylphy. Roxy is pushing something small up against my arm. But they're definitely there. I can feel Roxy's soft parts pressed up against my buff arms.

Ahh, this is wonderful. This feeling on my muscled arms. Were it not for the hardness of my arms, I'm sure this feeling of softness would've been reduced by half. Oh, be not jealous, oh biceps of mine. You are also wonderful.

「……くふふ」

　思わず笑いが漏れてしまう。

　今日は妹二人のプレゼント選びという名目で出てきた。
　しかし、それだけではない。
　先日、エリナリーゼが言ったのだ。

"...Kuhuhu."

I unconsciously let a laugh out.

Today, I was officially out to choose presents for my two sisters. However, it wasn't only that. The other hand, Elinalise had said as thus,

"I'll take care of all the preparations. The three of you go out together and get in the mood. Once the atmosphere is good, choose an inn."

In other words, it's that. Today is the day I'll do it. I'll help myself to both of them at the same time. I wonder if I'll be able to satisfy the both of them in bed. Ahh, I'll looking forward to it.

『根回しはしっかりしておきましたわ。
　三人でお出かけしてムードを高めてから、
　雰囲気のいい宿でキメなさい』

　つまり、そういう事である。
　今日、俺はやる。
　二人を一つのベッドで同時にいただくのだ。
　ああ、楽しみだ。
　ちゃんと二人共満足させられるだろうか。
　ああ、楽しみだ。

「ルディ、ルディ？」

　シルフィに呼ばれて我に帰る。

"Rudy, Rudy?"

Sylphy's call brought me back to my senses.

「よだれが出ていますよ、もうお腹がすいたんですか？」

　ロキシーがハンカチで俺の口元を拭いてくれた。
　いかんいかん。
　妄想しすぎてしまった。

　もちろん。
　最終的にはそういう流れを期待している。
　けれど、経過のデートを蔑ろにするつもりはない。
　ノルンとアイシャへのプレゼントもきちんと選ぶ。
　二人には、デートを楽しんでもらうのだ。

"You're drooling you know? Are you hungry already?"

Roxy wiped my mouth with a handkerchief.

Not good, not good.

I lost myself in my delusions.

Of course I'm expecting something like that for the very end. However, I have no intention of ignoring the date that leads up to it. I'll also properly choose presents for Norn and Aisha. I'll make sure Roxy and Sylphy have a good time on the date.

「失礼、ちょっと口元が緩んだようです」

　謝りつつ、気を引き締めた。

"Excuse me. My mouth because a bit slack."

Whilst apologising, I focus myself.

　プレゼント選びは丸一日掛け、街中を回ることにしてみた。

　まずは工房街からだ。
　工房街には、数多くの魔道具が置いてある。

　無論、商業街の方にも魔道具は売っている。
　しかし、そっちは実用化に耐えうる便利で高価なものがほとんどだ。

　工房街では未熟な魔道具製作師(クリエイター)見習いの、試作品のようなものも置いている。
　効果のほどは大した事はなく、どれもオモチャみたいなものだ。
　けれど、後に天才と呼ばれるような者の作った掘り出し物もあるらしい。

　というのは、ロキシーの談である。
　なんでもロキシーの同級生には、工房に弟子入りした者がいるらしい。
　あいにくと、もう別の町に行ってしまったそうだが。

We spent the whole day walking around downtown choosing the present.

We started at the workshop street. There were a large number of magic tools in the workshop district.

Of course, magic items were also being sold in the commerce street. However, the majority of those were convenient and practical items, sold for a high price.

In the workshop street were test items made by apprentices trying to follow the examples of Magic Tool Creators(Magic Tool Production Experts). The effectiveness of them weren't high, and all of them looked like toys. However, it seems that after looking around for a while you could find items made by people who could be called geniuses.

Or so Roxy told me. It seems that there was a workshop apprentice in Roxy's class. Unfortunately it seems they've already left for another town though.

「あの二人が好みそうなものがここらにあるとは思えませんが」

　ロキシーはそう言いつつも、興味深そうに魔道具を物色していた。

　もちろん、ここらにアイシャ・ノルンの好きそうなものがあるとは思っていない。
　ここに来たのは、ロキシー用のプレゼントを購入するためだ。

　ロキシーも結婚したとはいえ、そのお祝いはしていない。
　結婚式は必要ないと言っていたが、それとお祝いをしないのは別だ。
　ノルンとアイシャの誕生日の時に、一緒に祝おうと思っている。

　もちろんロキシーはその事を知らない。
　こっちもサプライズだ。
　サプライズをする者がサプライズされるって寸法だ。

　もし、ここでロキシーが「これ欲しいな」と思うようなものがあったら、明日にでもこっそり購入しておくつもりである。
　便利な魔道具となると、きっとお値段も相応のものだろう。
　現在、我が家を支えているのは、シルフィとロキシーの収入、ナナホシから貰ったスクロールの印税、迷宮探索の報酬の4種類だ。
　特に最後の、パウロの遺産とも言うべき迷宮探索の報酬は、あと三十年は遊んで暮らせるぐらいの金額となっている。
　腐るほど、とまではいかないが、余裕がある。
　とはいえ、いつどこで何に大金を使うかわからない。
　ゆえに普段からあまり贅沢はしないようにと心がけている。

　しかし、結婚記念ぐらいはいいだろう。
　ロキシーが「ポルシェに乗りたいです。カイエンに」とか言い出しても買ってあげよう。
　最近のロキシーはアルマジロを乗り回しているようだし、乗り物は必要無いだろうが。

"I don't think there's anything here that those two would like, though."

Whilst saying this, Roxy scoured through the magic tools with great interest.

Naturally you wouldn't think that there'd be anything that Aisha and Norn might like around here. I came here to get a present that Roxy could use.

Though we say that we've married, I haven't given Roxy anything as a wedding gift yet. Though we say that we don't need a wedding ceremony, this wedding gift is a different matter. I'll give it to Roxy at the same time I had over Aisha and Norn's birthday presents.

Of course Roxy doesn't know about this. Roxy's present will be a surprise too. It's a plan to surprise the surpriser.

If there's something that Roxy thinks she wants, I plan on coming back tomorrow or something and buying it. If it's a useful magic tool, then I'm sure the price will be high to fit.

Presently, the income of our family comes from Sylphy and Roxy's work, the scroll royalties that I get from Nanahoshi, and the rewards from the dungeon raid. In particular, that last one that could be called Paul's inheritance is enough to play around for the next three years. Though I wouldn't say it's more than we can use, we have enough money.

Even so, I don't know when I'll need to use some huge sum of money. As a result, I usually try to make it a point not to spend on extravagant things.

However, something to commemorate our marriage should be fine. If Roxy says something like "I want to ride in a Porsche. A Cayenne." then I'll buy it for her. Though recently, Roxy's been riding an armadillo to and from school, so it's not like we need a ride.

「この魔力を込めると中のものが凍りつく鍋は、アイシャにいいかもしれませんね」
「アイシャちゃんはもっと可愛いものが好きだと思うよ」
「あっ、確かに、仕事とは別のものの方がいいでしょうね……」

　シルフィとロキシーが話している間、俺はロキシーの動向を見守る。
　今のところ、特に何かを欲しそうにはしていない。
　真剣にノルンとアイシャのプレゼントを選んでいる。
　自分の事など考えていないようだ。

"If you put mana into this saucepan, it'll become freezing cold. It might be a good present for Aisha."

"I think Aisha-chan would like something a bit cuter."

"Ah-, that's certainly true. Something unrelated to her work might be better, huh..."

Whilst Roxy and Sylphy were conversing, I watched Roxy's movements. It doesn't seem that she wants anything in particular at the moment. She's whole-heartedly choosing a present for Norn and Aisha. She doesn't seem to be thinking about herself.

「ルディはどう思いますか？」
「そうですね。ロキシーをペロペロしたいです」
「真面目に考えてください。ルディが言い出した事なんですからね」

　もちろん、アイシャとノルン用のプレゼントも考えている。
　しかし、ここにある品は二人には合わないだろう。

"What do you think, Rudy?"

"Let's see. I'd like to lick you, Roxy."

"Please think about it seriously. This was your idea after all, Rudy."

Of course I'm thinking about Aisha and Norn's present as well. However, the items being sold here probably won't suit them.

　商業街へと移動する。
　向かう先は、シルフィの行きつけの服飾店だ。
　俺のローブを購入した店である。
　一応、この店がプレゼントの本命であった。

We move to the shopping district. Ahead of us is Sylphy's favourite clothing shop. It's the shop where I bought my robe. Ignoring the price, we'd definitely be able to find a good present there.

「ずいぶんと高級な店に入るのですね」

　店構えを見て、ロキシーが気後れしていた。
　自分のローブを見下ろして、不安そうな顔をしている。
　店にドレスコードが必要ないと教えてやるべきか。

"It's quite the high class shop, isn't it?"

Roxy became nervous, seeing the shop. She looked down at her robes, and made an uneasy expression. I guess I'd better tell her that the shop doesn't have a dress code, huh?

「えっ、そんなに高級かな？」

　シルフィは首をかしげていた。
　彼女は服飾関係に関しては、ややお高い店しか使わない。
　と言っても、浪費癖があるわけではない。
　アリエルと行動を共にする事が多いからだろう。
　出入りする店というのは知り合いの影響を受けやすいものだ。

　シルフィの金銭感覚が崩壊しているわけではあるまい。
　自分の行く範囲で一番妥当な店、という認識があるだけだ。

　そういうもんだ。
　人は誰しも、自分が高級品を手にしているとは思わないものだ。

"Eh-, is it really that high class?"

Sylphy tilted her head [in confusion]. When it comes to her normal clothing, she doesn't visit any stores except fairly expensive ones.

Well, though I say that, it's not as if she has a habit of extravagance.

It's probably because she often did things together with Ariel. It's easy for your taste in shops to be influenced by the people you know.

It's not as if Sylphy's sense of money has collapsed. It's just that she kept in mind which of the shops she frequented was the best.

No matter who it is, they don't tend to think of the things they possess as high class.

「いえ、グレイラット家の経済状況なら問題は無いでしょう。ただ、わたしは普段、あまりこのランクの店には出入りしませんので、そう思っただけです」
「そ、そっか……高いか……」

　シルフィはションボリしていた。
　耳が力なく垂れ下がっている。

"No, considering the Greyrat family's economic state, there shouldn't be a problem. It's just that normally I wouldn't enter a shop of such standing, or so I was thinking."

"I-, I see... So it was expensive, huh...?"

Sylphy's become depressed. Her ears are dangling feebly downwards.

「ねぇルディ。ボク、お金使いすぎてたりしないよね？」
「もちろん、大丈夫さ」

　基本的に、シルフィの私服類はシルフィの給料から支払われている。
　自分で稼いだ金を自分で使っているのだ。
　俺がどうこう言う問題じゃない。

"Hey, Rudy? I don't spend too much money, do I?"

"Of course you don't. It's fine."

In the first place, the money used to buy Sylphy's clothing comes from her own wages. She's using the money she earned herself. I'm not going to say anything, nor do I have a problem with it.

「決してシルフィが浪費家だと言いたいわけではありません。わたしも宮廷魔術師だった頃はこうしたお店を利用しましたし。誕生プレゼントとしての服を選ぶなら妥当でしょう」
「そっか、そうだよね、誕生日プレゼントならね……うん……」

　ロキシーが追い打ちを掛ける。
　さすが我が師匠だ。
　攻めるべき時をわかっている。
　まあ、フォローのつもりなのだろうけど。
　俺もフォローしとくか。

"By no means do I want to call you wasteful, Sylphy. During the days when I served as a Court Magician, I used such shops as well. If we're picking a out a birthday present, then it's suitable to choose such a shop."

"I see, right, if we're picking out a birthday present, huh...? Mn..."

Roxy finished her off.

As expected of my Shishou.

She knows just when to strike.

Well, she probably meant to console Sylphy though.

Should I do so instead?

「服ぐらい高いの着てもいいと思うけどな」

　そう言うと、シルフィがむくれた。

"I think its fine if at least our clothing is expensive, though."

When I said that, Sylphy became sullen.

「やっぱりルディも高いって思ってたんじゃないか」
「センスがいいとは思ってたよ」
「どうしよう。今からでもお店を変えた方がいいかなぁ……。でも、ボクここ以外だと、高いお店しか知らないんだよね」
「必要ないさ。ここで買えばいいよ」

　元々、シルフィは私服類をほとんど持っていなかった。
　それを、俺のために着飾ってくれるのだ。
　お礼を言う事はあっても、文句を言う筋合いはない。

　確かに、俺の基準で言えば、服の値段としてはちょっと高いかなとは思う。
　だが、それはあくまで俺が冒険者基準の安い服を常用していたからに過ぎない。

　なぁに、高いのを標準だと思っているなら、それを享受しておけばいいのだ。
　金があるうちはね。

"So you really do think that they're expensive, don't you Rudy?"

"I was just thinking that your taste was good."

"What should I do? Should I start using a different shop...? But I don't know any expensive shops besides this one."

"There's no need to change. Buying from here is fine, you know."

Sylphy didn't have many normal clothes to begin with. She dressed up for my sake. I want to thank her, and have no reason to complain.

Certainly by my standards, I think that her clothes might be a little expensive. However, in the end that's just solely because I usually use cheap clothes that fit the standards of an adventurer.

Geeez, if I think of expensive stuff as the norm, then all I need to do is enjoy it. Well, whilst we still have money, that is.

「これはこれはグレイラット様！　ようこそおいでくださいました！」

　店内へと入ると、すぐに店員がよってきた。
　常連だからか、きちんと名前を覚えてもらっている。

"Why if it isn't Greyrat-sama! Welcome, welcome!"

As soon as we entered the store, the shop-keeper approached us. It might have been because we were regular customers, but he remembered my name.

「本日はどのようなご用向きで？」
「10歳ぐらいの子の誕生日プレゼントの物色さ」
「なるほど、でしたらこちらへどうぞ！」

　そう言うと、店員は子供服のある場所へと案内してくれた。
　よく訓練されているな。

　案内された先には、子供サイズの服がずらりと並んでいた。
　普段着から、ローブ、ドレスに至るまで。
　品揃えは豊富だ。
　十歳の誕生日に服を買うケースは多いのだろう。

"What business might you have with us today?"

"I'm looking for a birthday present for a girl of about 10 years, you see."

"I see, in that case please come this way!"

Saying so, the shopkeeper guided us to the children's section. He's quite well-practised, huh.

Lined up ahead of us are a row of children's clothes. From casual wear, through robes, to dresses. They have products for all occasions. There are probably plenty for the occasion of a 10th birthday present.

「これだけ種類があると目移りしますね」
「もうじき冬になるから、あったかそうなのがいいかなぁ」

　ロキシーとシルフィは、大量の服を前に、嬉しそうに会話をしていた。
　やはり女の子という事か。
　なんでもいいわと断言するどこかの赤毛とは違うという事だ。

"With such a selection, it will be hard to pick one, won't it?"

"Since it'll be winter soon, a warm looking one might be good, huh?"

Roxy and Sylphy were happily having a conversation in front of the huge selection of clothes. I guess it really is about being a girl, huh? A certain redhead who would say 'Whatever's fine' is a different matter though.

「ねぇ、ルディはどう思う？」
「ノルンの防寒具も最近小さくなってるし。新しいのが欲しいんじゃないかな？」

　シルフィに聞かれ、俺も自分の意見を述べる。
　二人はなるほどと頷いた。

"Hey, what do you think, Rudy?"

"Norn's winter coats have gotten small recently. Perhaps she'd want a new one."

Sylphy asked me, so I stated my opinion. The two of them nodded in understanding.

「じゃあ、コートがいいかな……アイシャちゃんはどうしよう」
「そういえば先日、靴が小さくなってきた、と言ってました」
「靴か。いいね。それでいこうか」

　そんな会話で方向性を決めた後、品物を物色する。
　さすがに品数は豊富で、二人に合いそうなものはすぐに見つかった。
　ノルンには明るい色のコート、アイシャには花の模様が縫い込まれたブーツを購入する事になった。
　両方とも、やや大きめのサイズだが、育ち盛りだし、問題は無いだろう。

　その後、店内を適当に見て回る。
　何も、プレゼントが一つである必要はない。
　というのも、嘘偽りのない本音である。
　だが、本命はロキシーへのプレゼント探しである。

"In that case, a coat might be good... How about for Aisha-chan?"

"Speaking of which, the other day she mentioned that her shoes had become small."

"Her shoes, huh? Sounds good. Should we go with that?"

With that, we decided on the direction we would be shopping in, and perused the products. In the end we ended up buying a bright coloured coat for Norn, and for Aisha, a pair of boots with a flower motif sewn in. Though both of the presents were on the larger size, both of the girls were broeing so there probably wouldn't be any problems.

After that, we randomly had a look about the store. There was no reason that the presents had to be limited to one item. Or so I said, and certainly I wasn't lying. However, my main goal was looking for a present for Roxy.

「布製のコサージュなんかは、アイシャが喜ぶんじゃないかな？」
「そうだね、花とか好きみたいだし」
「いやでも、ちょっと大人っぽすぎるかな？」
「そういえば、ノルンちゃんって、何が好きなんだろう」
「ノルンは……なんだろう、彼女が何かを好きだって言う場面はあまり見たことがないな……」
「ノルンさんは、鎧とか剣とか馬とか、男の子っぽいものを好んでいるようですね」
「へぇ、なんで知ってるんですか？」
「わたしも、彼女とは仲良くなりたいんです」

　なんて会話をしつつ見て回る。

"I was thinking, wouldn't Aisha like this cloth corsage?" ← Rudeus

"She might, huh. She seems to like flowers, after all."　← Sylphy

"Yeah, but, isn't it a bit too biggish?"

"Speaking of which, what does Norn-chan like?"

"Norn... Seriously, what does she like? I don't think I've ever seen her in a situation where she'd say it..."

"It seems that Norn-chan'd like armour, and swords, and horses, and boy-ish stuff like that, huh?"

"Ohh? Why do you know that?"

"I want to get along with her as well."

We had such a conversation whilst looking around.

「……」

　ふと、ロキシーが立ち止まっていた。

　彼女はローブを見ていた。
　目立つようにディスプレイされている魔術師用のローブと帽子だ。
　成人男性用のサイズで、当然ながらロキシーには合わないだろう。

　彼女はローブの上においてある帽子を見て、自分のかぶっている帽子を脱いだ。

　そして、難しい顔で自分の帽子を見る。
　あの帽子もかなり古いものだ。
　ブエナ村にいた頃からずっと使っているものじゃないだろうか。
　ボロボロというほどではないが、歴戦を思わせるほつれが見える。
　黒い帽子なのであまり目立たないが。

　ロキシーは帽子をかぶり直すと、そろそろと背伸びをして、売り物の帽子を手に取る。
　くるくると回して見て、値札を発見してウッと顔を顰める。
　即座に元あった場所に戻した。
　高かったらしい。

Suddenly, Roxy got up.

She was looking at a robe. It was a robe and hat set for magicians, displayed in an eye-catching way. It was a size for adult men, so it goes without saying that it didn't suit Roxy.

She was looking at the hat that was above the robe, and then took off the hat she herself was wearing.

She then looked at her own hat with a difficult expression. That hat of hers was considerably old. Hasn't she been wearing it ever since her time in Buena village? Though it wasn't so old that it was beaten up, you could see frays that were proof of the many battles it had seen. Since it was a black hat, the frays weren't very visible, though.

Roxy put the hat back on her head, and slowly raised up on her tippy toes and grabbed the hat that was on sale. She turned it this way and that, and finding the price tag, went "Uu-!" and growned. She immediately replaced it. It seems it was expensive.

「はぁ……」

　ため息をついてロキシーは何事もなかったかのようにこちらに向かってきた。

"Haa..."

The sighing Roxy walked over towards us like nothing had happened.

「ねぇ、ルディ」

　ふと気づくと、シルフィが隣に立っていた。

"Hey, Rudy."

I suddenly noticed that Sylphy was beside me.

「あれにしよう」
「うん」

　シルフィと意見が一致した。
　これでロキシーへのプレゼントは決定だ。

　その後、コートとブーツ、そしてこっそり帽子を注文して、店を出た。
　品物を受け取るのは、誕生日パーティ当日だ。
　ちゃんとプレゼント用の包装をしてくれるらしい。
　当日が楽しみである。

"Let's get that."

"Mn."

I agreed with Sylphy's suggestion. It was decided that the hat would be Roxy's present.

After that, we ordered the coat and boots, and then stealthily the hat, and left the store. We'd pick up the items on the day of the birthday party. It seems that they'd be covered in wrapping used for presents as well. I'm looking forward to it.

　最後に、冒険者の集まる宿場街へとやってくる。
　あちこち回ったため、時刻はすでに夕刻である。

　この時刻になると、迷宮探索を終えた冒険者たちが戦利品を手に戻ってくる。
　また、金に困った冒険者が金策に手持ちの品を売るのも、この時間帯だ。
　ゆえに、掘り出し物もある。
　もっとも魔力付与品(マジックアイテム)は高価だし、ぶっちゃけ必要ない。
　ウィンドウショッピングというものは見て楽しむものだ。
　と、思っていたのだが。

In the end, we headed to the Inn Street where all the adventurers gathered. Because of this and that, the time was already evening.

Once it got to this time of day, the adventurers would be coming back with their spoils from dungeon raiding. Also, it was the time for adventurers short on cash to sell their items as a way of making money. As a result, it was filled with bargains. However, magic items(mana bestowed items) were expensive, so frankly speaking we had no use for them. We were having fun window shopping. Or so I was thinking, but...

「ほらシルフィ。これが冒険者の服だ。一般的な人々はこれぐらいの服を買うんだよぉ」
「もう。わかってるよ。でも、こういう服ってあんまり着ないから、自分に似合うかどうかもわからないんだよね」
「シルフィならこういうのがいいと思います。スレンダーなので、マントも似合いますね」

　話をするうちに、なぜかシルフィの服装を一式そろえてしまった。
　魔法剣士風の服装で、肘にプロテクターなんかが付いている。
　優雅さには欠けるかもしれないが、駆け出しの冒険者のようで実に可愛い。
　これでいつでもシルフィは冒険者になれる。
　F級冒険者に！

　まぁ、仕事もあるし、冒険者になる理由もない。
　何かあったとしても、シルフィの仕事着はほとんど魔力付与品(マジックアイテム)だ。
　わざわざ着る機会は無いかもしれない。

"Look, Sylphy. These are adventurer's clothes. Clothes of this level are what normal people buy, you know?"

"Geez. I get it already. But, I've never really worn these sorts of clothes, so I don't know if they'll suit me, you see."

"I think these kinds of clothes would suit you, Sylphy. You're slender, and mantles look good on you, you see."

While we were conversing, for some reason we ended up getting Sylphy a whole set. They were clothes in the style of a magic swordsman, and had things like elbow protectors attached. Though it might have been lacking elegance, she looked like a novice beginner, and was truly adorable. Like this, Sylphy can become an adventurer at any time.

A F Ranked adventurer, that is!

Well, she has a job, and so she has no reason for becoming an adventurer. Even if something happens, most of Sylphy's work clothes are magic items(mana bestowed items). There might be no reason to specifically wear the clothes we bought.

「えへへ、二人共、ありがとう」

　しかし、シルフィは嬉しそうにしていた。


　そうしてショッピングをしている内に、段々と店も閉まっていく。
　行商とて、夜遅くまで商売をしているわけではない。
　よって、必然的に俺たちの足も、自然と食事処へと向かう。
　もちろん。
　自然と思っていたのはシルフィとロキシーだけだろう。

　全て算段通りだ。
　こんな事もあろうかと、俺は店を予約しておいたのだ。

　S級冒険者向けの宿。
　エリナリーゼに『デートのフィニッシュはこの店』とアドバイスを受けていた店である。
　食事が美味しく、雰囲気も良く、ベッドも大きく、音も漏れない。
　そんな店である。

"Ehehe, thank you, you two."

However, Sylphy seemed happy.

While we were shopping like that, the stores gradually began to close. Though they were peddlers, they have no intention of continuing to trade deep into the night. As a result, our feet naturally turned to a place to eat. Of course... the only ones who thought it was natural were Sylphy and Roxy.

Everything is going according to my calculations. It might have been natural as well, but I made reservations at an inn.

It was an inn that catered to S Rank adventurers.

I had received advice from Elinalise: 『Finish the date at this inn』 she had said.

The food there was delicious, the atmosphere was good, the bed was large, and it was sound-proofed as well.

　だが、二人はこの宿のことを知っていた。

"Ah, Obaa-chan told me about this inn. She said 'When you get into a fight with Rudy, make up at this inn'."

"Oh? Did you knew about it as well, Sylphy?"

However, the two of them knew about this inn. After all, I'd just been dancing in the palm of Elinalise's hand. Still, even if the three of us knew of the inn, it wasn't a big deal.

「わたしもエリナリーゼさんから聞きました。もしかすると、今後ルディがシルフィとわたし、二人を連れて、この宿に来る時があるかもしれない、と。その時は、その、つまり……」
「ボクも言われたよ……なるほどねぇ」
「ルディはエッチですね」

　シルフィとロキシーはジトっとした目で俺を見てきた。
　だが、その顔に嫌悪感はない。
　エリナリーゼの根回しはすでに完了しているのだ。
　だから、二人も俺の下心に好意的なのだ。
　エリナリーゼさんのおかげで。
　いや、エリナリーゼ様のおかげで！

"I heard about this inn from Elinalise as well. Perhaps next time, the moment would come when Rudy would bring you and I, Sylphy, the two of us to this inn, Elinalise said. And at that time, that is, in other words..."

Sylphy suddenly mentioned Lucy, as though had suddenly remembered her.

But, arrangements on that end were flawless as well.

「大丈夫、ちゃんとリーリャさんに頼んできたから」

　今晩キメてくるというと、リーリャは「お任せください」と頷いてくれた。

"It's fine. I've already asked Lilia-san to handle it."

When I decided it would be tonight, Lilia said "Please leave it to me." with a nod.

「頼んだって……まあ、リーリャさんなら安心して任せられるけどね」

　根回しが済んでいたとしても、両親ともに外泊なんて、いけない事だと、シルフィは言いたいのだろう。
　俺もわかっている。
　けど、うん。
　……言い訳はすまい。
　すまんルーシー。愛してる。
　欲望に弱い父親を許してくれ。

"You left it to someone else... Well, since it's Lilia-san I can rest easy though, huh?"

Even if the arrangements had all been made, her parents spending their night elsewhere is something bad, is what Sylphy probably wanted say.

I understand as well.

「わたし、明日も学校なのですが」

　ロキシーは明日の出勤の心配をするが、そっちも問題ない。

"I have school tomorrow as well, though."

Roxy was worried about her attendance tomorrow, but that was no problem either.

「早めに起きて家に一度戻れば大丈夫だろう」
「早めに起きれるんでしょうか。わたし、アレの後は早起きできる自信ありませんが」
「任せてくれ」
「まあ、ルディがそう言うなら、任せますけど……」

　やや強引になったが、今日の外泊は決定した。

"It'll be fine if you get up early and return home once, right?"

"Get up early, huh? I don't have the confidence I'll be able to get up early after 'that', though."

"Leave it to me."

"Well, if you say that, Rudy, I'll leave it to you, but..."

I might have been a little pushy, but I've decided that we'll spend tonight away from home.

「じゃあ、旦那様。今晩はよろしくおねがいしますね」
「お願いします」

　二人の可愛らしい妻に頭を下げられて、俺も戦闘準備オッケーだ。

"Well then, Danna-sama. Please care care of me tonight."※

My two lovely wives bowed their heads, and my battle preparations were OK as well.

　だが、いきなりベッドインではあんまりである。

　なのでまずは、宿１階の酒場で食事を取る事にする。
　ここは食事のうまい店でもあるからな。
　食事を食べて、お酒を飲んで、愛しているとささやいて。
　そういったムード作りが大事だ。
　彼女らに向ける俺の感情は、決して性欲だけで無いのだ。
　性欲がものすごく強い事は隠しようもない事実だが、純粋に俺と一緒にいる時間を、楽しんでもらいたいと思っているのだ。

However, suddenly heading to bed would be a bit much.

That's why, first of all, we had a meal in the bar on the first floor. This was a shop with good food, after all.

　だが、現在は食材の豊富な季節で、さらにここは高級な店である。

　新鮮な野菜を豊富に使ったサラダ。
　煮込んだ川魚の入った辛めのスープ。
　香辛料たっぷり、脂の乗ったブラックブルのステーキ。
　普段あまり食べられないような、料理ばかりである。
　それらに加え、芳醇な香りを放つウイスキーに似た酒がついてくる。

"Wahh, it's kind of amazing, huh."

"It's a little difficult to eat food like this, isn't it?"

Seeing the food lined up on the table, the two of them let out voices of wonder.

In the north, ingredients were expensive, and scarce as well. As a result, normally meals were modest. However, right now we were in the harvest period where food was plentiful, and furthermore this was a high class store.

A salad made from plenty of fresh vegetables.

A spicy soup with freshwater fish.

A well-spiced, fatty blackbull steak.

The table was filled with food that you wouldn't normally eat. On top of that, there was a whiskey-like drink that was giving off a mellow fragrance.

「このスープ美味しいね。どうやって味つけしてるんだろう」
「オイルに漬けた辛子とか使ってるんじゃないかな……？」

　シルフィはルーシーの事を考えてか、酒は飲まない。
　しかし、スープに興味を持ったらしく、何度も味を確かめていた。

"This soup is yummy, huh? I wonder just how they flavoured it."

"Maybe they used oil flavoured with mustards seeds or soemthing...?"

Perhaps considering Lucy, Sylphy didn't drink. However, it seems that she had an interest in the soup, and tasted it again and again.

「ちょっと調べてみようかな。ルディ、ボクが作ったら、食べてくれる？」

　小首をかしげるシルフィ。
　作ったら、などと言わず、今すぐ食べてしまいたい。

"I wonder if I should research it a little. Rudy, if I made it, would you eat it?"

Sylphy tilted her head a little. Without saying "if I made it" or whatever, I want to eat now.

「ああ、シルフィごと頂きます」
「もう、ルディったら」

　最後はデザートだ。
　なんとこの店では、デザートを出しているのだ。
　といっても、ミリス神聖国で食べた、手間のかかったものとは少々違う。

　メインは林檎のような果実だ。
　俺も食べた事があるが、前世の林檎よりもずっと酸味が強い。
　それを一口大に切り、とろみのある蜂蜜に似たシロップに漬けてある。

　味としては、砂糖漬けか、あるいはフルーツポンチに似ているだろうか。
　中々に美味だ。
　林檎と蜂蜜を組み合わせるとカレーになると思っていたのだが、どうやら勘違いだったようだな。

"Ahh, I want to eat you, Sylphy."

"Geez, Rudy."

Last was desert. It seems that this shop served deserted. Though I say that, it was a little different to the time-consuming deserts I ate in the Holy Kingdom of Milis.

The main was a fruit like an apple. I've tried it before, but it's a lot more sour than the apples in my old world. The fruit was cut into bite-sized pieces, and soaked in a viscous and honey-like syrup.

The taste was like candied fruit, or perhaps like fruit punch. It was quite delicious. I had thought that apples and honey would together end up as something you'd use in curry, but it seems that I misunderstood, huh.

「これは……！」

　そんなデザートに喜んだのは、ロキシーだ。
　彼女は目を輝かせながら、パクパクと口に入れていく。
　我が師は甘いものが好きだったのだっけか。
　それとも、種族的に甘いものが好きなのだっけか。

"This is...!"

The one who was delighted about the desert was Roxy.

Whilst her eyes sparkled, her mouth gobbled it up.

Was it that my Shishou a sweet tooth?

Or was it that the Migurd were all sweet tooths?

「すごい。北の方でもこんなものが食べられるなんて！」

　言葉少なだが、その顔にあったのは感動だ。
　ロキシーの口から光を放っているかのような錯覚すら見える。
　そのまま見てたら、味の宝石箱がどうのとか語り出しそうだった。

"Amazing. To think that I'd be able to eat this in the north as well!"

Though she only spoke a few words, her face was filled with deep emotion. I even saw illusions of light coming from the inside of Roxy's mouth. Watching her like this seemed like talk of how the Treasure Chest of Taste was would begin.※

　あっという間に食べ終わってしまい、空になった器を残念そうに見つめていた。

"Ah-..."

In a blink of an eye, she had finished eating, and she looked at the empty plate in disappointment.

「俺の分もあげるよ」

　そういって皿を突き出すと、ロキシーが驚愕の表情を浮かべた。

"I'll give you my part."

Saying this, I thrust my plate forward, and an expression of shock floated to Roxy's face.

「えっ、いいんですか！？」

　一番おいしそうに食べる人に食べてもらうのが一番だ。

"Eh-, is that really okay!?"

It's the best letting the person who seemed to enjoy themselves the most eat the food they liked.

「もちろんですとも。はい、あーんして」
「あーんって、子供じゃないんですから……あーん」

　ロキシーは一口食べる度に感動し、頬に手をあてて幸せそうな顔をしていた。
　もっと食べさせたい所だが、残念ながら俺の分も無くなってしまった。
　他は次回だな。

　さてと、お腹もくちくなった。
　甘いものをたくさん食べた二人の美少女は、さぞかし甘くなっているだろう。

"Verily. Here, say 'aaah'."

"'aaah'? I'm not a child you know. ...Aaaah."

Each time Roxy had a mouthful, she'd look deeply moved, and moved her hand to her cheek with a delighted expression.

Though I want to let her eat more, unfortunately my portion was gone as well.

Some other time, then.

Now then, our bellies were completely full. I'm certain that these two beautiful girls who ate a lot of sweet food have become sweet as well.

「さてと、二人とも」
「なにルディ」
「なんでしょうか」

「実は、部屋を取ってあるんだ……」

　人生で一度は言ってみたかったセリフである。

"Now then, you two."

"What, Rudy?"  "What is it?"


"The truth is, I've got a room here..."


It was the line that I wanted to try saying the most in life.

「……うん。えっと、ロキシー、改めて聞くけど……ボクと一緒で大丈夫だよね？」
「はい。よろしくお願いします」

　ロキシーとシルフィは顔を見あわせ、互いに頷きあった。


　俺はロビーで鍵を受け取り、二人を促して部屋へとはいる。
　入り口にはハンガーが置かれ、床は毛の長い絨毯で覆われている。
　部屋の奥には五人ぐらい寝転がっても大丈夫なぐらいの、柔らかそうな大きなベッドが備えられていた。

　窓の外はすでに真っ暗だ。
　カーテンを締め、予め用意されていたロウソクに火を灯す。
　すると、薄暗い部屋に二人の美少女の姿が浮かび上がった。

"...Mn. Umm, Roxy, I'll just ask again but... Are you okay doing it with me?"

"Yes. Please take care of me."


Roxy and Sylphy looked each other in the eyes, and bowed.


I picked up the key in the lobby, and prompted the two of them into the room.

There was a coat hangar placed by the entrance, and the floor was covered by a carpet of long fur.

Inside the room was a soft looking bed was prepared, large enough to fit 5 people lying down.


It was already pitch black beyond the window.

I drew the curtains, and lit the candles that were prepared in advance.

When I did, the figures of two beautiful girls emerged from the darkness of the room.


「……」
「……」

　二人は顔を赤らめつつ、ゆっくりと上着を脱いだ。


　俺はそれを見つつ、今夜は最高の一夜になると確信するのであった。

With red faces, the two of them slowly took off their outerwear.




Seeing this, I was certain that tonight would turn out to be the ultimate night.
