  1. As to controller gameplay versus keyboard mouse gameplay... games are ported back and forth all the time. And while they are sometimes a little iffy it normally works just fine. Take Skyrim... made more for the console than the PC... it remains a very popular PC game. And the mods for it on the PC are something that the console players do envy.
  2.
  3. If you implemented what I am suggesting then your console players could install Nexus mod manager and import mods into their console skryrim experience.
  4.
  5. I would further point out that I use a controller all the time with my PC. I have a lot of emulators on my PC and I'll play old Neogeo games, Sega, SNES, N64, etc on my PC. I just got Mortal Combat X on my PC and I use a controller with that as well because it is a fighting game. I have a gaming PC laptop and I like to plug it into my TV. I often play emulated console games on my gaming PC on my big screen tv with gamepads.
  6.
  7. This is no thing.
  8.
  9. As to separating controller players from keyboard mouse players... it depends. In first person shooters, I would agree... a keyboard and mouse is an advantage in a first person shooter. However, in many other games a controller is superior. If we're playing Streetfighter, then my keyboard and mouse is a liability if anything.
  10.
  11. That said, I am quite happy to segregate multi player environments to protect the console players from the predations of the PC master race.
  12.
  13. As to emulating hardware because things weren't designed for X or Y... I am not suggesting they do it with the current console generation. But if they do it with the next one then there is no issue. What is more, the xbox's could be emulated by more powerful computers going forward allowing greater backward compatibility than anything any current console platform is going to offer. Again, I can play old NES games on my PC whenever I want. Obviously Nintendo would prefer I not do that, but I fucking bought these games back in the day. I literally owned the cartridges so I'm not especially interested in their interpretation on the issue.
  14.
  15. As to DRM etc, that is debatable... every console can be hacked or "chipped" as it is often referred to. A friend of mine has a huge console collection. I think he has 10 or 12 consoles. And around the time they started using CDs, DVDs, and BlueRays he got them all chipped. I think the first one he got chipped was his Dreamcast. Point is that most of his games are pirated and they all work on his consoles. So far as I know, he can also play online without any trouble. So sure, if people don't chip their console they can't pirate the games. But if they do... which I think costs about 30 bucks for the chips... its easy.
  16.
  17. As to them hoping the PC dies rather than the Xbox... what? First, the vast majority of MS's value as a company comes from the PC world and not the fucking xbox. Their corporate customers are not using xboxes. And it was through their corporate customers that they attracted middle class white collar buyers to adopt the machines for personal use.
  18.
  19. What is more the size of gaming market on the PC is I believe still quite a bit larger than anything on the consoles. Most statistics to the contrary literally only query gamestop and similar brick and mortar retailers that PC users largely ignore. When you include all the MMORPG subscription money, all the Steam sales, etc... PC crushes consoles.
  20.
  21. And then we can talk about esports etc which are very important to many developers and hardware makers and esports generally doesn't exist on the console because it is regarded as a less hardcore... less serious platform.
  22.
  23. So no. PC is going no where. And I'm not suggesting the console go away either. Implement my change and most console users won't even notice.
  24.
  25. They can go to the store, buy their console, buy their games, and have their console experience. But if they've the inclination they can do more with it. And the PC users immediately gain access to the same library of games which means more money for the developers and more money for microsoft since the sales of those games grants MS a cut of the sale.
