Gerome: ... What do you want?
Tiki: Merely to see how you were.  You disappear so quickly after battles and meals, it's almost as if you're more a shadow than person.  I should have known you'd be in here with Minerva, though.
Gerome: Hm.  Well, I'm fine.  Is that all?
Tiki: So curt.  That's certainly not the way to make friends.
Gerome: Who said I had any interest in making friends?
Tiki: I guess I thought you might have had some interest in talking to your mother--
Gerome: Make no mistake, Tiki.  No matter how much you may look or act like her, you are not my mother.  My mother has long since left this realm.  As far as I'm concerned, you're a stranger.
Tiki: ...I see.  I suppose I just thought that maybe talking with me might...soothe the pain.  Heal that wound.
Gerome: Then you thought wrong.
Tiki: Gerome--!
Gerome: I don't need a lecture from a doppelgänger.  Now, if you have nothing of import to say, then leave me.  I have to finish tending to Minervykins before dinner.

Tiki: Chatting with Minervykins.  Is that a problem?

Tiki: You needn't be so defensive, you know.  Cherche calls her own partner by the same pet name.  I've picked it up over time.

Tiki: Well, I certainly won't get any answers out of YOU.  Besides, you'll be pleased to learn she's been frustratingly tight-lipped about some things.  She's quite loyal to you.
Gerome: I'd hope so, given how long we've been together.  She's the only family I have left.

Tiki: So you're still adamant about refusing to accept Cherche or I as family, hm?
Gerome: I thought I made my stance on that perfectly clear.
Tiki: I just thought you might have reconsidered--
Gerome: I have no interest in fraternizing with those from the past.  No matter how much they may look or act like my mothers.
Tiki: Then why did you come to the past?
Gerome: Ha!  Are you so vain to think that I'd come back just for that?
Tiki: ...
Gerome: This was Lucina's idea.  Her grand plan to prevent the future we were cursed with.  The others agreed, despite my protests.  I was opposed; meddling in the past never ends well.  And yet, I couldn't imagine losing the only people who I had left.  I've lost too many in my life.  I refuse to lose more.
Tiki: ...
Gerome: I wouldn't expect you to understand.
Tiki: Bite your tongue, Gerome.
Gerome: What?
Tiki: You speak as if you're the only one who's experienced any loss in your life.  Do you know who I am?  WHAT I am?  I've lived for centuries--millenia, even.  Can you even fathom how many people have left me?  How many have come into my life, only to leave me far too early?  I agree that you've lost much in your life.  But you do not have the monopoly on grief, Gerome, and I'd thank you not to presume you do.
Gerome: .....
Tiki: .....
Gerome: ...Y-you're right.  I'm sorry.
Tiki: Gerome, I--
Gerome: I need to go.  Minerva, come.
[Gerome leaves]
Tiki: Wait, Gerome!  ...Perhaps I was too harsh....

Tiki: I just...feel awful.  That wounded expression--gods, you'd have thought I slapped him.  And the way he's been avoiding me around camp--don't give me that look, you know as well as I do that he has been.  *sigh*  You know him better than I, Minerva.  What do you think?  Was I too harsh?
[Minerva roars]
Tiki: I KNOW he needed to hear it, but it doesn't make me feel any less horrible for saying it.  I didn't want to hurt him, but.... What he said, it just.... Hm.
Gerome: Am I intruding?
Tiki: G-gerome!  No, no, please, come in.

Gerome: All right, all right, I get it, Minerva.  *sigh*  Tiki, I....  Look, I apologize for the way I acted the other night.  I...I didn't mean to trivialize the pain and loss you felt over the years.
Tiki: It's not as if I'm blameless either.  I didn't mean to make you feel like your grief wasn't important either.

Tiki: For looking so much like someone you cared about.  The more I think about it, the more I realize how hard it must be for you.  I remember...when Lucina first came to Mila Tree, I was so SURE it was...it was Marth.  Mar-Mar had come back to see me, after all those years.  And yet...I-i knew it wasn't him, deep down.  Time is cruel and had long since taken him, but still, I wanted to think he was here with me once again.
Gerome: ....
Tiki: I imagine seeing me here evokes a similar feeling?
Gerome: You look...almost just like her.  My mother, I mean.  Your voice, your mannerisms....  Seeing you here is almost like seeing her again.  ...But you're not her.
Tiki: You're right.  I'm not.
Gerome: ...It's hard.
Tiki: I know, Gerome.
Gerome: Tiki?  Makanetes are supposed to live for millenia, you said.  Why...why couldn't she have been so lucky?
Tiki: Oh, Gerome....
Gerome: People mourned for her, you know.  All across Ylisse.  They cried for their lost hope, their severed connection to the goddess Naga.  I just...I cried for my mother.
Tiki: ...Gerome, I...I'm so sorry.  I know how hard that must have been.  Having to shoulder that loss, taking up a blade so young....  But...  But you're here now.  I know Cherche and I aren't your true family, but...but i want you to know that we do care about you.  Deeply.  And if you'd have me, I would...very much like to be, if not your mother, then your friend.
Gerome: ...
Tiki: I know you said you didn't come to the past to make friends--
Gerome: I think I can make an exception.  ...Mama.
