  1. The tall man stood on the threshold of the little room, blue eyes almost glowing icily in the darkness. He waited there for several long seconds, wintry gaze locked on the shivering figure encased in blankets on the bed, before stepping into the room. The little figure gave a whimper and withdrew into its cocoon.
  2.
  3. "Do you have anything for me today, pet?" His voice was silky and sweet, like velvet or honey, but under that lay something dangerous - needles and pins, a hornet's sting.
  4.
  5. A garbled murmuring issued from the lump, trembling even harder now. The man strode forward, quick as a flash, and seized the blanket, pulling roughly. It gave way and revealed the shivering figure, a pair of moon-pale eyes as wide as saucers gazing up, piercing the darkness like lamps. He paused, stock-still and quiet as death, for a scant moment, then his pale lips parted, issuing forth another river of gibberish. The man gave the little one a rough shake after dropping the blanket to the floor.
  6.
  7. "Well?"
  8.
  9. "...The alien angel object entity, endless loops and rings and spirals all joined as one, connected but each its own, flowing into the eternal forever and as long as time has spun, endless, endless..."
  10.
  11. The man made a disgusted sound, shoving the little figure roughly to the bed, stopping his stream of speech as sharply as it started, and forcing a wail of distress from him. He turned and moved as if to leave, but paused at the threshold again, as he did when he had entered. He looked over his shoulder at the muttering wretch who was struggling to collect his blanket without leaving the safety of the bed.
  12.
  13. "Mark my words, Freak, if you do not soon give me a shred of useful information soon, all those false fears of yours...will no longer be false."
