- Log of Dr. Jason Erikson 09.09.1871
- Whilst mining for ghost rock west of Dallas the confederate army have stumbled upon something of an anomaly, what they believe to be a living organism, cacooned in some green mass. Deciding that it may be of military interest, the army have commandeered the mine and are turning it into a facility for its study. They have asked me to oversee it. While this distracts me from my research into the medicinal effects of ghost rock, I am looking forward to the opportunity to study it more closely.

- The specimen remains completely lifeless, the printouts the same every day. I do not wish to waste my time so I have returned to my studies. The simple soldiers here have proved most compliant when I tell them it is part of the experqiments we are doing with the specimen and an official order form on high. Perhaps this will prove a fruitful time after all.

- Attempted a field test of my latest revitilisation elixir. Private Jones was a most fitting test subject. Sadly the results proved unsatisfactory. I despised of the failure in the storeroom.

- The first sign of life from the specimen! A tiny increase on the vital percentage. How exiting!
- Log of Jason Erikson 10.22.1871
- The specimen is becoming more active! The cacoon is slowly melting away, I believe the creature beneath is human! How fascinating. More peculiarly it seems to be REACTING to my experiments on the soldiers. I must continue my research, its for the good of science after all.

- The soliders are becoming suspicious. They've realised that they are disappearing too fast to simply be being reassigned. I must defend the specimen. She is almost completely revealed now. I must finish my work! I must free her! I'm locking down the facility, and placing the controls in the room with her - then I will seal her with a switching the junk room and put my little arachnid friends there to guard them. They will have nowhere to go…
