“You’ll fall if you keep sitting there.” She says as she sits next to him on the balcony ledge. “If I fell, at least I’d die knowing you’d be my last sight.”

“You can’t die from a fall.”

“I can’t, but I would if that means you’d kiss the pain away.”

“You’re so cheesy, you know that?” She barely conceals her smile, and holds back her laugh.

“I wish, I could be like the moon. To be gone, when the sun beats too hot and be the light, when someone needs me.” He sighs as his fingers card through his hair.

“Don’t tell me you’re sick of living now. We have eternity.”

“I don’t need eternity, it’s hard when you live forever but never find someone who lives long enough for you.”

“I’m here.”
“You’re different.”

Yes, she was different, she was the person who stood by him, for centuries. When people were filled with fear because of them, she was there. When the world embraced them, but defined them as sparkling beings, who were completely emo, she told him, that his heart was warm, despite it not beating.

Is that not enough?
Is that something that she did wrong?
Was it wrong to love, and to love with all she was?

Maybe.

“Tonight is a long night.” Her fingertips brush against his. “It’s always been.” The night is cold, and the moon shines, just as it did a millennia ago.

“It’s been nice talking to you.” He says as he jumps down from the ledge.

“Where will you be going?”

“Somewhere far away, maybe I can be someone new.”

“Can I come with you?”

“You can’t, it will just make it harder for me to know myself.”

It shocks her for a moment, “what do you mean?”

“They say to move on, you have to leave all of you behind. You have been there since the beginning, and to find my end, I have to leave you behind.”

He smiles at her, “don’t worry, we’ll find each other again, we always do.”

“See you soon.”

It’s been another century, they meet at the same place, as they always do. This time, the mansion is in ruins, and what’s left is the dirt from 100 years ago.

She hasn’t changed, of course she hasn’t. But he does, he’s slightly tanner now, his hair a deep black. Despite it, he’s still the same.
He takes off his sunglasses, and smiles.

“Hello, stranger.”

At some point in time, I realized a lot of things. First, is that I enjoy the smell of warm coffee in the morning. I enjoy the early morning light and last but the most important one of all, I love you despite, not having coffee in the morning, or even if the sun isn’t shining.
Maybe it’s just me or you, but it’s probably me. I never truly understood how I felt, because I never got to stand next to you, never got to know you better and never even got to see you smile, unlike everyone did. Yes, it’s hard but it’s always been this way. Tired, broken, in pieces, all of these, I’ve been because of you.
But there are times that, I truly found solace in you. The day when you talked to me in the hallway at last period, just to say, I’m sorry for bumping into you. Or when you bandaged my knee, when I fell to the ground. I’m sorry if I wasn’t any help to you at all, if I only dragged you down and never up.
Yes, all I knew was you, and all you knew was everyone but me. Although, we’ll never have a fairytale ending, not like stories do. I’m hoping for someone to love me right, just like I did for you

Trembling fingers, read the browning paper, and even though it’s probably the nth time, it’s been read, the words have been fresh, always been fresh in his mind. Maybe it was the fact he was blind or was it because he was a boy. Regardless, he failed. 40 years have gone by, with a heart that suffered so much. But even in such moment, all he can say is.
