  1. Pertinent Setting Details:
  2. There's magic and high level technology, including starships. In addition to magic, there's daemons of chaos or something, and there used to be an alien race called the Insect Civilization that worshiped the daemons.
  3.
  4. Timeline:
  5. >War between Humanity and the Insect Civilization. War was won thanks to a culture of warriors known as the Brunnen G, who managed to outwit and defeat the Insect Civilization at every turn. Culminated in the glassing of the Insect Civilization's home planet at the hands of the Brunnen G.
  6. >Brunnen G became galactic peacekeepers, while the Insect Civilization was thought to have perished in totality. In fact, there was still a conclave of scientists and sorcerers hiding in an asteroid research station.
  7. >The insects cried out to their Daemonic gods, and in return, received one last gift: A way to wreak vengeance upon the Brunnen G. They created a bio-curse that would render the Brunnen G unfit to inhabit all but the most sterile of environments, and used quantum sorcery and a platoon of captured Brunnen G soldiers to ensure that each and every last Brunnen G was afflicted with the bio-curse.
  8. >Over three-fifths of the Brunnen G died in a matter of days, and the survivors were unable to set foot upon any living planets and many starships without the aid of environmental suits.
  9. >For a time, the Brunnen G were wanderers, having become nearly despondent in their fall. But then, in a sacking gone wrong, one of their largest colony ships, and one of their best bets for long-term re-habitation should they find a cure for their bio-curse, was destroyed.
  10. >This event served as a call to arms for the Brunnen G people, and they began, as a culture, committing to massive efforts of piracy, raiding, and treasure-hunting to amass resources in an effort to both defend themselves and search for a cure
  11. >Fast-Forward a generation or two, and they're almost entirely perceived as space pirates by the galaxy at large, and they routinely send out agents in search of some mythical panacea to cure the bio-curse that afflicts their people.
