* Chapter 12: A New Tide

/tmg: All of the mass media that had come to cover the press conference had a picture of Zero adorning the front page--
/tmg: Everyone had waited and wished for national superstar Zero's reappearance.

oka: There have been rumors going around that Zero's going to make a come-back on the last day of the reopening ceremony.
oka: People are auctioning off their tickets for high prices.... Even though Re:vale are the stars of this concert!
Yuki: Well, it'd be interesting in its own way if Zero made a come-back on our stage.
Yuki: Right, Momo?
Momo: Ah.... Yeah. Ahaha! Yeah, it would!
Yuki: ...Are you alright?
Momo: Yeah! I feel like I can sing today! I drank some Momorin juice, so my throat's in top condition!
Momo: We received a lotta of snacks too! They all look really good....
Momo: ......Huh? There's an unsigned letter mixed in with them....

Momo: Is it okay if I open it?

(1) めろめろ means to be like head-over-heels, etc. I was originally gonna put 'Please don't swoon like that' but that's probably a bit too much of an extrapolation hmm
(2) 一本芯が通る is a figure of speech and like every instance of a figure of speech i look at and go What i turn to chiebukuro and it means a) what i put down b) having strength in your heart/having a strong heart etc. The exact definition varies from person to person, and weblio tells me that its having something you absolutely won't budge on. That kind of thing.
(3) 炎上 - means LIGHT ABLAZE but can also mean "flood of comments to a blog, exceeding what the blog's owner can answer" aka getting flamed, but i doubt papa yaotome is the type to go "aw shit we can't let TRIGGER get flamed" so, yeah.

(1) THIS LINE, REMINDS ME WAY TOO MUCH OF KAORI'S "Please support me in this moment when I’m about to lose heart." FROM EPISODE 3 OF SHIGATSU WA KIMI NO USO. JUST WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT. "shiroi like two words in this whole sentence are similar--" SHhsHHHH
(2) 敵に塩を送る/"sending salt to your enemies" is a figure of speech (HELL YEAH) meaning to play fair, show humanity even to your enemies. So what Pops means is that they ended up helping out Takanashi (the enemy), even though it was kind of a collateral thing (since if he wanted to save TRG's image, he had 2 save the whole Zero Arena crew). (3) 'those kids' = idolish7. What Banri means when he says 'them' is something you'll find out in later chapters. Stay tuned!
(4) 虚像 means virtual image (in the optics/physics sense) or false image/pretense. I felt that 'ghost of the past' was more appropriate vs 'false image of the past', and 'past pretense' is also noT the same thing here. I tacked on the literal bc I Guess Kujou Loves Optics Terminology bc he talks about real vs false images too and i need that initial comparison to base later translations off of. That and u know me, I love 2 slap multiple definitions and i love to slap on em dashes. Why Not Both? :^)
(5) 'non doubt about it' was actually 'there was nothing clouding my judgement' but no one says that in this context so yeaH
