  1. Ever since the tablet traveled to London with Ahkmenrah, the New York museum never saw the darkness of night again.
  2.
  3. They were forever frozen in time.
  4.
  5. Until now, three years later.
  6.
  7. The management of both museums agreed to a reasonable transfer. Ahkmenrah and his tablet would return to the New York museum for one night as a special exhibit.
  8.
  9. He would arrive in the early morning, be placed in his original spot for curious eyes to see, stay at the museum overnight before being shipped back off in the morning when the mailing pick up resumed.
  10.
  11. Many people shuffled into the museum to have a glance of the ancient Pharaoh. The revenue sky-rocketed due to the special exhibit. It was a financial shame that it only lasted for one day.
  12.
  13. Around six o'clock at night, the museum shut its doors to the public. The presentations of Ahkmenrah were finished and so was the day.
  14.
  15. The museum's lighting was dimmed to a faint illumination and exhibits were locked for the night.
  16.
  17. In the Egyptian exhibit, however, a golden glow brightened the room. The tablet that was presented in a glass case beside Ahkmenrah began its magic.
  18.
  19. Slowly, the ancient man came to life as everything else did. It took him a moment to reorientate himself and his surroundings. A glistening smile plastered itself on Ahkmenrah's face as he realized where he was.
  20.
  21. He was at his original home. Where he had made many friends and was freed from his tomb. He had missed this place.
  22.
  23. His eyes scanned the area as exhibits came to life and began to interact after three years of being apart.
  24.
  25. Ahkmenrah carefully opened the glass box encasing his tablet and carefully took it out, clutching it to his chest as he swiftly made his way to the main floor.
  26.
  27. A groan came from the Western exhibit as a certain tiny man came to life. His arm had been outstretched for three years and it was not a pleasant feeling when he reanimated.
  28.
  29. "What in the.." Jed muttered under his breath, rubbing his sore arm as he looked to the hallway. Just in time to see the Pharoah stride by with his golden tablet.
  30.
  31. He didn't recognize him at first, but slowly it came back to him. Bit by bit.
  32.
  33. It wasn't necessarily memories. They seemed like faint dreams he had seen the night before. The type that you fight to remember.
  34.
  35. Jed remembered styrofoam peanuts, a man that struck a resemblance to him, and a very entertained cat chasing after light.
  36.
  37. His hands reached up and he removed his hat, running his free hand through his sand colored hair. Just to feel real again.
  38.
  39. Jed turned to his men, who seemed just as confused as he was. His feet then turned to the other exhibit. The Roman exhibit.
  40.
  41. There was something about it that irked Jed. He needed to remember something, but he couldn't figure out what.
  42.
  43. Placing his black hat back onto his head, he made his way to the tunnel that connected the two exhibits.
  44.
  45. The problem was, his legs were stiff.
  46.
  47. He stopped a few steps away from the tunnel and pressed his foot against the rock wall, bending his knee and unbending it in an attempt to limber up.
  48.
  49. It proved itself to work and he felt much better after doing it.
  50.
  51. With two feet on the ground, Jed turned to the tunnel entrance, surprised to see someone already there. The man wore a bright red cape that matched the fur on top of his helmet.
  52.
  53. "Stiff already, my friend?"
  54.
  55. Jed raised his eyebrow at the man. Memories slowly drifted back as he took it all in.
  56.
  57. "Octavius," Jed said simply, remembering the man that stood in front of him, "You're the Roman.. The general.."
  58.
  59. A nod came from Octavius, "Indeed."
  60.
  61. Jed scratched the back of his neck as he recollected his thoughts and past experiences.
  62.
  63. "We went together somewhere," Jed noted, "With the styrofoam peanuts."
  64.
  65. It sounded weird, but it was all that Jed could remember. How could you not remember a piece of styrofoam the size of you?
  66.
  67. "London," Octavius nodded, "I remember that as well."
  68.
  69. Jed nodded slowly, retracing his steps in his mind. It came back to him. The lava, the selfies, the hand holding, and...
  70.
  71. A blush spread across Jed's cheeks as the faint memory of a sudden kiss right before the sunrise filled his mind.
  72.
  73. Octavius had grabbed ahold of Jed's vest and practically crashed his lips into Jed's.
  74.
  75. Not to say it wasn't enjoyable, but it wasn't something that Jed would openly admit to enjoying.
  76.
  77. Octavius remembered it clearer than the rest of his memories. He didn't care of the consequences at that time. It was the last night they had together. But now it seemed as if he'd have to face them.
  78.
  79. "You kissed me," Jed broke the silence with a raised eyebrow, looking to Octavius, "Right before the sun came up."
  80.
  81. Octavius nodded silently, watching Jed closely as the other man regained his memory, "My apologies."
  82.
  83. Jed raised his other eyebrow in surprise at the apology, "What are y'sorry for?"
  84.
  85. Octavius sighed before answering the man in front of him, "You were not expecting it and it was nothing less than selfish of me. It was for my own greedy needs."
  86.
  87. Jed hadn't thought of it like that, but then again, he didn't tell Octavius that he enjoyed it.
  88.
  89. With a worryful look over his shoulder to ensure their privacy, Jed turned to Octavius and leaned forward so the secret remained between them, "It ain't just your greedy needs."
  90.
  91. Octavius looked to the other leader, a tiny bit confused, but mostly surprised. He opened his mouth to talk, but couldn't find anything to say to Jed, so he promptly shut it and offered Jed a pleased smile.
  92.
  93. A light grin came to Jed's face as he studied Octavius, "Yeah I remember you. With your hand holding tendencies," He teased.
  94.
  95. Octavius became flustered at that statement. His cheeks flushed to a brighter red and he pursed his lips, "It was because we faced certain death, my friend."
  96.
  97. Jed laughed, "That's bullshit," He debunked simply, "Just c'mere."
  98.
  99. Jed's arms outstretched and Octavius walked into them, both of the men wrapping their arms tightly around the other. It had been a while since they had done this and it felt just as good as Octavius remembered.
  100.
  101. "You're a liar," Jed teased, "I ain't believin' that it was spur of the moment. Romans plan, they don't wing it."
  102.
  103. Octavius tilted his head back slightly to look at the other man's face, "You talk too much."
  104.
  105. "Is that right?"
  106.
  107. "Yes, it is."
  108.
  109. "What are you gonna do 'bout it?"
  110.
  111. Octavius froze for a moment as Jed let those words roll off of his tongue. It was quite obvious what there was to do about it. After all, he was in Jed's arms..
  112.
  113. With a playful smirk, Octavius pressed his lips against Jed's. It wasn't as frantic as it was last time. It was more relaxed, more comforting. It was what Octavius ached to do.
  114.
  115. Jed wasn't surprised. He knew it would lead to this. With a sarcastic roll of his eyes directed to Octavius, he kissed back, pulling the Roman closer to himself.
  116.
  117. The kiss dragged on for a few moments longer before their lips parted and they pulled back. Matching, satisfied smiles took place of where their lips had connected.
  118.
  119. "Now you've shut your mouth, so I suppose my method worked," Octavius stated proudly, clasping his hands together behind Jed's back.
  120.
  121. "Yeah yeah, thinkin' you're all high and mighty," Jed chuckled, leaning forward and pressing his forehead against Octavius's.
  122.
  123. They stood there for a moment. Just grinning at each other for a while. They didn't seem to care if anyone saw. They truly missed each other.
