  1. Question: Is this "new" normals priority system really such a big deal in sfv? One would think it's a godsend against people mashing lights during frame traps. But in sf4 how often do you see your frame trap being stopped because of a light "trade"? Seemingly either it hits, is blocked or you get tagged. Akim Brewley

  3. In SF4 frame trapping is difficult because of how late you can tech a throw. When you gain frame advantage, you can then throw, go for an early frame trap, or go for a late frame trap.
  4.
  5. A late tech in SF4 will still beat an early throw, but an early tech will beat a late frame trap. You can also OS a throw tech into a low jab in SF4, so you can always throw tech while also using your fastest light attack.
  6.
  7. You can't do this in SFV. A throw tech input in SFV is either a successful throw escape or a whiffed throw. Always.
  8.
  9. So instead of three choices after getting frame advantage, now it's just two. Throw or early frame trap. There's no need for a late frame trap because there is no late OS tech. To avoid the throw, they have to tech early.

  11. NOW FACTOR IN PRIORITY.
  12.
  13. Now that we understand how the throws work, the priority system basically makes LP or LK mashing even worse. Not only is it not a throw tech, but it will straight up LOSE and get you counterhit if it collides on the same frame as a medium or heavy, which of course are the most common strengths to use in frame traps.
  14.
  15. If I'm +2 and I frame trap with a 5f medium, I will counterhit everything that starts up in 4f or more, but I will ALSO beat 3f lights. And throws.

  17. Block. Or DP if you have one... but it better work or I get my best combo, LOL.
