  1. ABSTRACT
  2. ===
  3. - Grad school takes 4 semesters of 4 months each, minimum
  4. - All grad schools will offer enough to relocate and pay tuition in terms of financial assistance
  5. - Grad school funding depends on each department/the responsibilities they give you
  6. - I make the assumptions in the following that we will be focusing on the Thesis master's program rather than essay/project programs
  7. - In summary, a 75% average seems to be the average of admission requirements, and admissions offices mostly consider later years/courses
  8. - Most if not all universities do have some kind of salary in the range of $10-20k/3 terms after tuition is deducted, which will pay for housing/food/OSAP savings for me

  11. TAYLOR'S THOUGHTS
  12. ===
  13. Kyle: out of curiosity do u kno where i can find the gradbuck$ offerings
  14. like would they release average grant amt on their websites
  15. Taylor Smith: nah they usually don't release those figures because it varies depending on if you get a research studentship, teaching assistantship, if your supervisor has a grant, etc.
  16.
  17. Kyle: but would u say its liveable? slash enough to generate say $300 in savings per month?
  18. Taylor Smith: i can say that waterloo TAs make roughly $6000 per TA unit per term
  19. research money from your supervisor usually covers your tuition and leaves a good chunk left over
  20. oh yeah $300/month is easy
  21. i usually put $600 in
  22.
  23. Taylor: yeah my grad pay covers rent, mobile/internet, electricity every two months, and i still have some money left over for groceries etc.
