  1. This is a pasta email to all four current mods.
  2.
  3.
  4.
  5. You guys are doing fantastic on vigilance. Better than I'd hoped, to be honest with all of you. :3 After a little time to get into the job role and get your feet wet, I think now's the time to give some specific guidelines on moderation.
  6.
  7. CP, obvious spam like "SAGESAGE" x1000, super off-topic shit = Delete on sight. Common sense and I know you all already have this down. Make sure to report CP to Global mods so they can report it properly.
  8.
  9. As for lesser stuff, this is my action priority, and the priority I'd like you guys to roll with.
  10.
  11. Autosage > Lock > Delete
  12.
  13. Warning (a warning is any ban under an hour in my book) >>>> Ban
  14.
  15.
  16. Rate the severity of the response by the actual trouble the offender is causing. An off-topic thread that isn't spam can be left alone IF:
  17.
  18. People are enjoying it It should be short lived Its not being spammed The board isnt full of them
  19.
  20.
  21. Perfect example is the "Time Magazine" crosspost from /b/ about raiding the poll. Thats chan culture. If people are having fun with it, and it will be short lived, leave it be. if it causes trouble then autosage it.
  22.
  23. I'd like you guys to stay as total Anons. Don't bother even using your capcodes unless you have to give an official explanation for something and I'm not around. The buck for all moderation on the board stops with me.
  24.
  25. ...
  26.
  27. I issue quite a few warnings. Most of mine are on the order of a 20-30 minute ban and always make sure to cite the rule even if I don't put up a public ban message. ...The goal is to poke the offending poster and remind him the rules exist, not to exclude him from the board for any meaningful time. It doesnt matter if he comes back still pissed off and calls you (me) a cunt, as long as he doesnt break the rules again as he does so. Don't hold grudges with posters. The rules are to keep the place tidy, not sterile.
  28.
  29. Pro-GG e-celeb threads with content are now allowed on a limited basis outside the sticky. Main Event videos, something Milo is doing, a Mom video, etc. these are now grounds for a thread. Same thing for aGGro content, for the purposes of dissecting it and making ammo out of it. If the thread would be positive on the board, you can allow it. If an event happens and we get multiple threads at once, let them go until one is clearly bigger, apologize to the posters but autosage the rest and direct them to the main feel free to post as "Leader ## Volunteer" so they know its official word.
  30.
  31. Negative e-celeb stuff - i.e. drama, Who's unrelated to another beneficial topic (see the FAQ sticky) goes in the sticky.
  32.
  33. ...
  34.
  35. Other issues:
  36.
  37. If anons want to shill and direct-link /gg/ I don't mind. Let's be the bigger guys4U about it. If anyone is dumb enough to go back to Niko and GNAA I'm not sure we want em around. If someone is spamming it in multiple threads give em like a half hour ban.
  38.
  39. Rule 2 has become the most important of the rules I think. One of the key objectives of /hq/, apart from getting /gamergate/s anons back up and running, is to reverse the shill-fostered split between our factions. Keep an eye out and watch /pol/'s back when they're contributing - they're shill magnets. Similarly if /pol/ stats bashing reddit and it looks like a flame war is starting, give him 20 minutes outside to cool off. Don't bother modding offhand comments like the ubiquitous Plebbit insult that dont start drama by themselves. When it gets to the point of Redtext and "GB2>>>" image macros its time to step in.
  40.
  41. Rule 2 is srs bsns. The boards dont have to love eachother, but the manufactured shit-stirring between them is over. Keep it to warnings and keep them short (half hour or less), but enforce Rule 2 and enforce it fairly.
  42.
  43. Rule 6 gives you wide leeway, but is also an easy one for the community to self-moderate. If a shill is in a thread, weigh stepping in versus letting them ignore it by the amount of commotion the shillpost causes. If a post looks shill but people aren't upset, leave it be. Conversely if someone started a "Lets fucking dox Whoever, I'm done with this nice guy shit!" thread, or theyre shilling a thread so hard that a shitstorm is brewing, drop the hammer. Shills talk shit? Shills get hit. Shills polite? Shills alright. Again keep bans short....
  44.
  45. Other rules, take a measured approach and let the community self-moderate first. "No harm, no foul." Harm? Step in.
  46.
  47. Save day+ long bans for the real bad shit and habitual offenders, basically.
  48.
  49. BAN TERIDAX / WEEV / ANY OTHER GNAA OR AYYTEAM FAGGOTS ON SIGHT. They are persona-non-FUCKING-grata. Give em your wittiest ban message and send em out the door for as long as you want.
