- Volume One - A Fragile State of Mind
- 1. Does the Little Light Mean It's On? (1:59)
- “I’ve been through so much.
- I’ve caused so much damage.
- Damage that will take ages to unfurl, if it will ever.
- After everything I’ve done...
- After all I’ve undergone...
- There is nothing that I wouldn’t give to mend us.
- And it all started...
- ...this cavalcade of nightmares...
- ...Everything that I hate...
- ...Everything that I fear...
- ...Every little thing that transpired to invoke a hellish torment upon a once beautiful world...
- ...Everything that I created...
- ...It all started...
- ...with her.
- My name is Rarity.
- And I have a problem.”
- ...
- “Does the little light means it’s on?”
- 2. Doll (0:57)
- “It’s simple!
- I’ll just take tragedy and make something beautiful out of it!
- It’s what I’m known for!”
- This is what I found of her video diary. Most of it was just bits and pieces scattered throughout her home that I collected and put in the order that makes the most chronological sense, if there is even one.
- Rarity’s story still continues to fascinate me, as well as scare me into seeing what a simple fashionista could become.
- Rarity’s story is a story about stress.
- Stress and pressure.
- Science tells us that with stress, pressure, and time come beauty.
- It’s only fitting that her cutie mark is that of three diamonds.
- Anyway, more about our subject, Rarity.
- “You’ve ascended, darling.
- You will live on...
- ...as her.”
- A beautifully simple concept. How did it ever come to pass that this one action would be the roots of a tree that will grow wildly.
- Intertwining with many lives.
- Branching off through numerous realities.
- Soon, this tree’s illustrious leaves will blot out the sun. Casting the world into shadow.
- All stemming...
- ...from a child’s doll.
- 3. Epidermal, Of Course (1:01)
- With the doll constructed in the likeness of her new idol, Rarity discovers something that had
- been lying dormant.
- She had loved pain.
- Whether or not she inherited this psychological trait from her new-found idol or if it was an underlying quirk buried deep within her psyche was unknown.
- The fact is, she wanted more of it.
- And nothing was going to stop her.
- 4. I Bet You Know Her Name (1:17)
- Wait, let’s start at the beginning.
- Once upon a time, there was a little town. This town was nice and peaceful.
- Until one snapped.
- Now, there are many missing without much of an explanation.
- Murder, albeit too taboo a subject to talk about, is commonplace now. All because of her.
- Some feared her.
- Some didn’t believe in her.
- One was fascinated by her.
- I bet you know her name.
- 5. Sweetie Belle (Soul) (3:04)
- “Should I do this?” she asked.
- It wasn’t her choice anymore. She threw the responsibility of her sister’s well being into the construct of the doll she created.
- “She’ll enjoy this.”
- This is called madness.
- “Everything will be alright.”
- This is called destruction.
- “Sis, what are you--”
- This is the first step.
- “nnnNNNNAAAAAGGGGHHH!!!”
- This is the agony of the soul.
- And it hurt.
- 6. Sorry (3:47)
- In a state of panic induced by Twilight's sudden visit, Rarity averts her attention and casts a bulky sewing machine upside Twilight's head.
- This is where the game she was playing with her life ends.
- She came to realise everything that she's done this far.
- And for the first time....
- "I'm sorry."
- 7. Dreams (3:29)
- Now, that we got dreary segment out of the way, I had to know.
- Why the nickname?
- Well, it’s quite simple.
- We all have our hopes and dreams.
- Her’s was just that simple.
- She just wanted to be a mother.
- 8. Never Again (1:57)
- Sometimes, we want to forget what we’ve done.
- Sometimes, we want to live as if we didn’t do anything wrong.
- That our actions didn’t have consequences.
- Sometimes, we’d go to drastic measures to feel normal again.
- This was her night.
- Even if she’d come to regret her decision in the morning.
- 9. All Tied Up (1:49)
- It’s always nice meeting a friend.
- You see, many ponies have changed since the disappearances.
- The idea of upholding a specific personality to mesh with society has completely dissolved.
- Everyone could act how they truly wanted now.
- And so on that night a fashionista was tied up by a local athlete.
- There a challenge was proposed.
- “Nah, she’s too soft.”
- There...
- “Don’t be so sure, Dash!”
- ...a challenge was accepted.
- 10. 850 Degrees Fahrenheit (Body) (1:43)
- We’ve prepared for this.
- You see, this was a momentous point in her life.
- And as an outsider, it portrayed a nice bit of psychological dementia.
- “Breathe in.”
- There is nothing more painful.
- “Breathe ouuaaaGGGGGHHHH!!!.”
- Try not to think of the words,
- “Searing Flesh.”
- This is the second step.
- When we go through a change, the experience is never pleasant.
- The lasting marks, both physically and psychologically, are the most intense.
- This is the agony of the body.
- The video cuts out here. I can still hear her screaming in agony followed by the sound of heavy iron clattering against the floor.
- And for her, the mark has been made.
- The first tape ends here.
