  1. Alex cries in the corner of his bedroom. What were these things? What did they want from him? He couldn’t even think, the creatures wouldn’t leave him alone. His family bangs on the door, begging for Alex to see them. But he could not hear their screams; he was not of their world anymore, he was of his own. All he wanted to do was escape the voices in his head.
  2.
  3. “Do it,” commanded the voices. Next to him appeared a needle of morphine. He knew what he had to do.
  4.
  5. “Get it over with!” Yelled the voices. Alex lay down on his bed, morphine in hand. He knew this wouldn’t work forever, but it can alleviate his pain here and now.
  6.
  7. “Do it already!” shrieked the voices. Alex, without hesitation, stuck the needle in his arm. It began to work almost immediately. The voices began to fade away, and he closed his eyes. He was at peace.
  8.
  9. He woke up. There were no voices. He was pleased. He decided to do a reality check. He was really dreaming. Alex decided that he would wake back up, fingers crossed that the voices will be gone. He closed his eyes. He couldn’t wake up. He was freaking out. He didn’t wan’t to be dreaming, he wanted to be awake. But he couldn’t transition back into the waking world. This is his world now. For the rest of his life.
