  1. >Day 236
  2. >Of year 3
  3. >The first few weeks were a rocky start, but you thought it would get better
  4. >It never did
  5. >The first time you were left out of a holiday you didn’t think much of it
  6. >The second time, it hurt
  7. >The third time wasn’t any better
  8. >Seeing everypony happy together, and leaving you all alone was pretty painful
  9. >After about a year and a half, you made like a tree
  10. >And moved to the everfree
  11. >You found a nice little cave by the river and gave it a door
  12. >A pile of vines made for a surprisingly comfy bed
  13. >As for food, the everfree had a lot of edible plants
  14. >Back when you went to town, you had read up on the place
  15. >Scary monsters and harsh conditions (for most ponies) aside, the place was pretty easy to live in
  16. >Plenty of food to gather and fish to eat
  17. >You never were one to hunt game
  18. >Not that you didn’t before, but without the ponies around, you’ve had a lot of spare time
  19. >To keep from going insane, you’ve kept your hands busy
  20. >Between making the wall/door, table and chairs, you’ve taken to woodcarving
  21. >Not to brag, but with as much time as you’ve had to practice you’ve gotten pretty good
  22. >Little figurines that are a little bigger than your hand can be done in an afternoon now
  23. >You’re working on one right now
  24. >Your hands idly carving away, no particular form in mind
  25. >You found yourself a cliff with a nice view near one end of the town
  26. >When you found the place, you made it a point to watch the sun set almost every day
  27. >It was also a great place to let your mind wander
  28. >Although you have started to wonder if that’s a good thing
  29. >Lately your thoughts have wondered somewhere darker
  30. >Like why should you keep going in life?
  31. >…
  32. *sigh*
  33. >You take a break and down some more of the bottle of moonshine you’d swiped from Aj’s barn
  34. >There were a lot of bottles in there
  35. >One less wouldn’t make a difference
  36. >Not like you’d be punished if it did
  37. >After one to many lonely days and nights, you’ve decided to end it
  38. >No more suffering for you
  39. >Just the sweet release of death
  40. >…
  41. >You’ve finished carving it seems
  42. >Looking down, you see what you’ve made
  43. >A falcon, mid dive
  44. >A small twinge of pride washes over you as you see that you got the details on the feathers right
  45. >Practice makes perfect you suppose
  46. Time to get this over with
  47. >You mumble
  48. >Tossing the carving to the side, you down the rest of the moonshine and stand up
  49. >Then you prick your finger
  50. >You barely feel it
  51. >A small smile appears as you realize that at least there won’t be more pain
  52. >Dusting the wood shavings off, you straighten your shirt and tie
  53. >Wouldn’t do well to meet your maker looking sloppy
  54. >Tossing the bottle over the edge, you hear it shatter a few seconds later
  55. >With a nod, you turn around and put your back to the edge
  56. >The setting sun makes a lovely orange-purple colored sky
  57. Goodbye cruel world
  58. >You softly proclaim
  59. >Spreading your arms out, you let yourself fall back
  60. >Time seems to slow down as the earth races up to meet you
  61. >There’s an owl circling above you
  62. >There’s also a purple shape running towards the cliff
  63. >You close your eyes and wait for the impact
  64. >But all that comes is a soft bump
  65. >Slowly, you open your eyes
  66. >“Omygosh, Anon! Are you ok?”
  67. >You take a drunken look around and realize you’ve landed on an unusually thick bed of grass
  68. What happened?
  69. >You grumble as none other than Twilight Sparkle comes to your side
  70. >“You fell of the cliff! I know magic doesn’t work as well on you so I made the grass grow to cushion the fall”
  71. >She declares, a hint of pride in here voice for managing the feat
  72. >“Are you ok? What were you doing up there?”
  73. >You have to think for a moment
  74. >The alcohol is really getting to you
  75. Jumping
  76. >You manage
  77. >The look of confusion on her face is almost adorable
  78. >“What do you… That was on purpose??”
  79. >She shouts as the realization hits her
  80. >That you were trying to kill yourself
  81. >“Bu… wh… Why?”
  82. >She manages after some stuttering
  83. Because…
  84. >You start
  85. >The feeling of tears welling up tells you that an emotional moment is coming
  86. >Try as you might, you can’t stop them
  87. Dou you have any idea how hard it is?
  88. >Twilight stumbles a bit trying to reply
  89. >But you don’t give her time
  90. When everypony treats you like you don’t exist
  91. When everypony finds an excuse to be away from you
  92. >The tears are flowing now
  93. >Damn alcohol
  94. I tried so hard to be friendly!
  95. To be nice to everypony!
  96. And what do I get?
  97. Ignored! Never let in to parties or holidays!
  98. It hurts Twilight!
  99. It hurts to be all alone away from everyone you ever knew, never able to go back!!
  100. WHY DOES EVERYPONY HATE ME?!
  101. >You sob/shout
  102. >Twilight swoops in and hugs you tight
  103. >“I… I never realized… All this time…”
  104. >You now cry uncontrollably into her soft fur
  105. >You can’t stop now
  106. >The floodgates have opened
  107. Why do I have to be alone…
  108. >You whimper, letting all your pent up emotions out
  109. >You barely even hear the response
  110. >“It’s ok… I won’t leave you…”
  111. >Twilight says as she pulls you closer
  112. >You just let the tears run their course at this point
  113. >You think you tried to mumble more words, but it’s all becoming a blur as the moonshine takes its hold
  114. >The last thing you remember is a teary eyed look at Twilight
  115. >Who was looking back at you with empathy
  116.
  117.
  118.
  119.
  120.
  121.
  122.
  123.
  124. >Some time later, you wake up
  125. >A hangover starts to creep up on you as you groggily try to figure out where you are
  126. >You feel more rested than you have in a long time
  127. >And the bed is softer than you remember
  128. >As your vision clears up, you realize you are in Twilight’s castle/library
  129. >You also see a small table next to you with a bowl of soup and a note held down by the falcon you carved
  130. >Groaning as you sit up, you take a whiff of the soup
  131. >It smells divine
  132. >Taking a spoonful, you pick up the note
  133. >It reads
  134. >
  135. > Anon,
  136. >I took you here last night after you passed out. The things you said… Well I want to help make it up to you
  137. >If you’re reading this, I haven’t gotten back from getting groceries. I want to talk about what you’ve been doing all this time.
  138. >As the princess of friendship, I feel like I’ve failed. I want to help you, if you’ll let me
  139. > Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle
  140. >P.S. Have you considered selling wood carvings? You’re very good at it
  141. >
  142. >You set the note back down as you down the rest of the soup
  143. >It’s delicious
  144. >It also seems to be holding back the hangover
  145. >Picking up your handiwork, you turn it over in your hands
  146. >If you had a hot stick, you could probably do some wood burning and make it even more realistic
  147. >Twilight might be onto something you think
  148. >You hear a door open down a hall
  149. >A voice can be heard
  150. >“You think he’ll be ok Twilight?”
  151. >“I don’t really know Spike. He’s been through a lot…”
  152. >A pause
  153. >“But I want to help him”
