NERV Second Base : Episode 02

08[14:46] <00Siege> Inside the cages, the three Evangelions stand ready after finally activating Bryant's Eva for the first time. The usual buzz of the command center and science facilities can be heard over the comms as the three pilots wait in the room for further orders.
06[14:47] * Bryant_Wallace is feeling relief that it didn't rampage again
06[14:47] * Sam_Shepard is enjoying his second chance to sync with unit seven, silent with a big grin on his face. "Good job, Bryant!"
[14:47] <Bryant_Wallace> "Thanks, looks like I get to keep the rest of my parts"
06[14:48] * Asa_Kennedy bows his head and prays silently.
[14:48] <Asa_Kennedy> "God makes miracles"
[14:49] <Bryant_Wallace> "If I was the religious type I'd be praying right now as well Asa"
08[14:49] <00Siege> Over the comms, the familiar voice of Kimberly can be heard: "No kidding. Now that we're three for three, Remington wanted you three all out onto the training grounds once more...We'd do the synchro tests in a more contained environment. Instead we've got to do them in the Evangelions themselves."
[14:50] <Asa_Kennedy> "Perhaps all these trials and tribulations will show you the path to the light."
[14:51] <Bryant_Wallace> "Rodger that Kimberly, were on our way"
08[14:51] <00Siege> "It'll probably be an hour or so. Sorry kids." Hearing the conversation grow between Asa and Bryant, she makes herself scarce.
[14:52] <Bryant_Wallace> "So what are we just going to hang out in the plugs till then?
06[14:52] * Asa_Kennedy smiles, acting as if somehow he's guiding Bryant towards religion.
[14:52] <Sam_Shepard> "Is there something wrong with that?" Sam- or rather, 07, is pacing slightly
06[14:53] * Bryant_Wallace quietly wonders how anyone in our situation can have faith in god where we train to kills his angels
[14:53] <Bryant_Wallace> "Uh negative"
08[14:53] <00Siege> "Hang out? Hardly. You three are going to run the obstacle course again...and hopefully complete it for once."
[14:53] <Bryant_Wallace> "An Obsticle course?"
08[14:53] <00Siege> Falconer's voice rings out over the comms.
06[14:53] * Asa_Kennedy cringes. "I don't think it could go any worse than before."
08[14:54] <00Siege> "Just like the first activation with you and Asa were...there was some difficulties."
08[14:54] <00Siege> From the background in his message, some snickering can just barely be heard from the bridge.
[14:54] <Bryant_Wallace> "Understood I'll do what I can"
06[14:54] * Bryant_Wallace makes a couple test movements, he's wobbly since he has not had a chance to really pliot before
06[14:55] * Asa_Kennedy moves around a bit, cautiously. He stops every few seconds and says things like "God be with me", "Christ guide me please", and other craziness.
06[14:56] * Bryant_Wallace more sure of himself takes a few left jabs and a right hook at the air
06[14:57] * Sam_Shepard watches, somewhat bemused.
08[14:57] <00Siege> The familiar and bulky elevator creaks open...after filling up with it's cargo of biomechanical war machines and a small auto-switchover to umbilicals, it raises the three Evangelions out and onto Asa's favorite place.
06[14:57] * Bryant_Wallace walks over, almost trying over his own cable "Damn"
08[14:58] <00Siege> The same obstacle course, tracklines and targets all, are slightly greyed out due to the cloudy weather.
06[14:58] * Asa_Kennedy strides forward with more confidence. "With you at my side Jesus, I can do anything.."
06[14:59] * Bryant_Wallace stretches in the plug, still wondering if he should bring up what he saw durring his activation test
[15:00] <Sam_Shepard> Unit 07 jogs out of the elevator towards the course. "Can we just start whenever?"
06[15:01] * Bryant_Wallace walks over and gives "sam" a pat on the back
08[15:01] <00Siege> The Comms window opens after a few moments of silence: "Ok. Same as before. Lets have you two start out with a run to that climbing obstacle. Make sure Bryant doens't get left behin--" And with Sam's sudden jog out, he just sighs and logs off from comms again.
[15:02] <Bryant_Wallace> "Hey just be ready to be amazed, I feel like I got the hang of this
[15:06] <Sam_Shepard> Unit 07 looks up at 06, nodding along with Sam. "Good! Let's go then!"
06[15:06] * Asa_Kennedy narrows his eyes in concentration and moves forward after Sam. His steps are a bit wobbly but he doesn't fall on his ass.
06[15:07] * Bryant_Wallace starts walking forward
08[15:07] <00Siege> The clouds above begin to release a light drizzle as the pilots move out, but the sound of the rain can't be heard through the armor and the optics seem to do a good job of not being hindered by it.
08[15:07] <00Siege> In no time at all you reach the climbing obstacle.
[15:08] <Bryant_Wallace> "So... okay"
[15:08] <Asa_Kennedy> "I'm ready!"
[15:08] <Sam_Shepard> Seven crouches, then springs up towards the top of the climbing wall again!
[15:09] <Sam_Shepard> ...but its bony hands slip on the wet ledge and it clatters back down to the ground. Sam laughs. "Whoops."
[15:09] <Bryant_Wallace> "... And what did we learn from this Sam"
[15:10] <Asa_Kennedy> "What a relief that I'm not the one falling"
06[15:10] * Bryant_Wallace starts trying to climb up the Obstacle
06[15:10] * Sam_Shepard gets back to his feet. "It's slippery out?"
06[15:11] * Bryant_Wallace stucks stuck half way up "Son of a bitch!"
[15:12] <Sam_Shepard> Again, Unit 07 springs upwards! - and again it slips and narrowly catches itself against the wall. "C'mon!" Sam mumbles. "You can do this..."
08[15:12] <00Siege> A spotlight sweeps over the three Evangelions briefly, before being pointed out east and then quickly disabled.
06[15:12] * Bryant_Wallace looks east
06[15:13] * Asa_Kennedy gets up a small ways only to slip all the way down and fall. ".....Again...."
08[15:13] <00Siege> Falconer's voice comes through comms only for a moment: "Back to the elevator, get weapons, and wait."
08[15:13] <00Siege> After that, the comms are dead once more, and the brightening of lights can now be seen across the entirity of NERV04.
06[15:14] * Bryant_Wallace just fell off the Wall so he gets up and runs back "Weapons, what's wrong?"
06[15:14] * Sam_Shepard readies himself, 07 making one last /leap/ and landing on the top of the wall! ...then stops. "What? What's happening?"
08[15:14] <00Siege> By the elevator, the containers for test munitions automatically open with a grinding click.
06[15:14] * Asa_Kennedy stumbles a bit more, falls a few more times and very unstably gets back to his feet. "Affirmative commander!"
08[15:14] <00Siege> Comms are still silent.
06[15:15] * Bryant_Wallace looks for the knuckle dusters for his eva
06[15:15] * Asa_Kennedy looks back at the obstacle course, and shakes his head. He swiftly heads towards the elevator.
[15:15] <Bryant_Wallace> "What the hell, why are comms out?"

06[15:16] * Sam_Shepard 's eyes widen. "Again? For real this time?" 07 jumps down off the top of the obstacle and lopes over to the elevator, its strangely shaped frame moving with surprising speed.
08[15:17] <00Siege> Nathaniel begins: "That's right kid, we've got an angel. Remington and Falconer are having a fit with Ikari again. So I thought we'd try breaking the rules here a bit."
[15:17] <Bryant_Wallace> "An angel..."
08[15:18] <00Siege> Behind him, some of his fellow scientists seem to be glancing back and forth from his camera to their own workstations, wondering if they'll be sacked for this.
[15:19] <Asa_Kennedy> "No drill this time......and yet we couldn't even climb a wall. Seems illogical"
08[15:19] <00Siege> "Falconer and I sort of...made a deal after the last bit of stupidity with Remington having his hands tied by Ikari. We'll just point fingers at eachother and that way the UN can't do sh-- anything."
06[15:20] * Bryant_Wallace arms up with his prog knife "Well i'm ready either way"
08[15:20] <00Siege> "Well Asa, they are rather sophisticated machines. Like a musicial instrument. Some people have talent with them, some don't...but enough practice and you'll be doing solos in no--" He trails off after being distracted by someone else in the room...
06[15:21] * Sam_Shepard 's eyes light up as he pulls his spear from the container. "Thanks Father! Where do we intercept?" he asks anxiously.
06[15:21] * Asa_Kennedy nods. "And yet any test that we've done has shown most of us struggling...except for Sam. A talented bunch of musicians we are not"
06[15:22] * Bryant_Wallace punchs the air with with the knucke dusters remounted on "Oh trust me, we may not look pretty about it, but we don't have to look good to kill one of these monsters"
06[15:23] * Asa_Kennedy reaches for his rifle and holds it out in front of him "good to see you old friend. Hopefully I'll be able to show off some skills with you"
08[15:24] <00Siege> Nodding at Sam's enthusiasm, he continues: "It's a bit north of the base right now, but only by half a mile. It's going to pass almost right over us and is heading straight to japan. With some luck we can pull it right out of the sky to us. You two get into position and we'll see about stonewalling Ikari."
[15:25] <Bryant_Wallace> "How on earth are we going to pull that off? throw Sam at it?
[15:25] <Asa_Kennedy> "Well perhaps I can shoot it right out of the sky....Though throwing Sam doesn't seem like such a bad idea" he laughs.
08[15:26] <00Siege> Comms are silent before Nathaniel asks: "Well, Sam?"
[15:28] <Sam_Shepard> "Of course, Father! I'm ready for my first kill!" Unit 07 begins to move into position. "Though I don't know how you're going to throw me that far..."
06[15:29] * Bryant_Wallace test lifts sam...
03[15:30] * ChanServ sets mode: +o Siege
[15:31] <Bryant_Wallace> "Welp.... If asa helps we might be able to do this"
[15:31] <Sam_Shepard> 07 squirms a little. "Hey, not now!"
[15:31] <Bryant_Wallace> "We got to practice!!!!
[15:32] <Asa_Kennedy> "I think that seems unwise..." he looks up above him "Let me give it a taste of these here bullets!"
[15:32] <Bryant_Wallace> "Well if you think that will work then by all means but some holes in it"
06[15:34] * Asa_Kennedy readies his rifle and takes aim. "Come here precious...but listen...if this doesn't work, get ready to throw the pretty boy"
06[15:35] * Bryant_Wallace quietly, and calmly, puts a hand on Sams sholder "can you fly sam?"
06[15:37] * Sam_Shepard laughs. "Of course not. Why would you ask that?"
06[15:39] * Bryant_Wallace says "Because this" grabs sam and thorws him at the angel full strengh
06[15:44] * Bryant_Wallace learns quickly that someone with no depth perception should throw goddamn anything
08[15:45] <00@Siege> The Evangelion seems to burst forth with the energy of an olympian shot-put athlete...so much so that the AT field that the children are pleasently unaware of seemed to glow briefly in the rain.
08[15:46] <00@Siege> The spectacle was lost however, when Sam noticed he was going a little off course towards the floating...thing he was heading towards.
[15:48] <Sam_Shepard> "Gah-!" Sam is suddenly jerked around in his plug as 07 goes sailing off into the air, his umbilical unspooling rapidly before disconnecting with a snap. The rain around the Eva begins deflecting as it instinctively raises its AT field, and Sam, trying to get his bearings, focuses it outwards, stabilizing his rapid ascent and aming himself towards the approaching angel, readying his spear before him, grinning like a maniac.
06[16:03] * Asa_Kennedy shakes his head. "You should have known that wasn't going to work. Let me have at it"  Asa points his weapon very slowly and deliberately at the flying angel. He pulls the trigger and hears the sound of the bullet making contact. "Oh YEAH!"
[16:04] <Bryant_Wallace> "Yeah yeah very nice, lets move on"
08[16:04] <00@Siege> Up above from Sam's point of view, he can clearly see the ripple effect from the Angel's AT Field diverting the bullet to a more harmless vector. It did however, piss the angel off.
[16:05] <Bryant_Wallace> "Well shit"
[16:07] <Asa_Kennedy> "Oh.."
08[16:17] <00@Siege> Suddenly aggressive, the angel seems to contort in midair, twisting horrible, before slamming into the nearest thing it can kill: Unit 07. It flips up at the last moment and seems to suck the evangelion into it's midsection where it holds him tight with its arms. It also begins to lose altitude.
[16:18] <Bryant_Wallace> "SAM STOP SCREWING AROUND AND STAB IT!!"
[16:19] <Sam_Shepard> 07 twists and struggles, but can't quite escape. Sam starts yelling something only barely coherent.
[16:20] <Asa_Kennedy> "He can't get lose!"
[16:21] <Bryant_Wallace> "no.... Okay... Lests see here... I GOT IT... I'll focus on lowering that barrier thing, and you shoot it again!
06[16:29] * Bryant_Wallace gets a running dash and hurls him self at the angel focusing on reducing it's At field down "SHOOT IT!!!!!!!"
[16:31] <Asa_Kennedy> "ROGER THAT!"
06[16:32] * Asa_Kennedy attempts to shoot but switches his aim last minute...shooting at nothing. "Ahhhh. Damn your big head SAM!"
06[16:38] * Sam_Shepard is stuck fast in the Angel's clutches, despite its struggles to attack. "No! Nonononononononono!"
08[16:39] <00@Siege> As Sam continues to struggle, the angel's "head" whips around and seems to bend down to stare into his Evangelion, then turns to spot Sam's allies elsewhere on the field.
08[16:41] <00@Siege> With an omnious and high-pitched sound, a halo grows over Shamshel's form and he freezes in midair...
08[16:47] <00@Siege> As he floats, one of the larger side-arms extends a glowing appendage and attempts to whip across Unit 07's chest, but it's small size allowed it to actually press itself DEEPER into Shamshel's chest. Out of fear of cutting it's own appendages off, it retracts the coil and instead...growls.
06[16:56] * Bryant_Wallace as he flys by the angel tries to stab the angel to stop his decent, and fails spectaculry... the earth is now coming up to see him.
06[17:01] * Asa_Kennedy shakes his head and is almost embarassed by his comrades.
06[17:02] * Bryant_Wallace lands unharmed... face first... on the ground
06[17:04] * Asa_Kennedy points his rifle at the angel, finding a small window he shoots. The sound of the bullet making contact is like music to his ears.
08[17:06] <00@Siege> The thunderous crash of Bryant hitting the ground is only matched by the sound of the AT field surrounding Shamshel's "face" being splintered by Asa's round. Up in the sky, Asa's optics are lightly speckled by an orange-red droplet briefly before being washed away in the light rain...
06[17:07] * Bryant_Wallace shouts "Good shot Asa, yout actually hit the damn thing!"

06[17:09] * Asa_Kennedy nods.
03[17:09] * Blast (~chatzilla@one.way.ticket.to.hell.AND.BACK) has joined #nerv-second-base
06[17:11] * Sam_Shepard yells incoherently, one arm finally breaking free of the angel's hold and digging his bony claws into its hide, tearing away small chunks of armor but doing little.
[17:14] <Sam_Shepard> Then, without warning, the entry plug goes dark. Sam continues to scream.
08[17:16] <00@Siege> Shamshel, now with a motionless Evangelion in his grasp, instead uses another of his laser-like whips to grab him about his midsection and hurl him effortlessly high into the air...
08[17:19] <00@Siege> A resounding crash comes from the ragdoll like form of the Evangelion as it smashes to the earth, sending up debris high into the sky. Not a second later, the lower half of Shamshel's body begins to open like a flower, revealing infinitely more of the twitching bony "arms."
08[17:20] <00@Siege> A halo can be seen briefly before an enormous explosion rocks the crater of Unit 07 in the shape of a cross. And with that, Shamshel closes back up and floats omniously in the sky once more.
06[17:25] * Bryant_Wallace runs at the angel, grabs it by it's sholder with a light leap, punching down at it, glancing off it's face and clobering it in the arm
08[17:28] <00@Siege> The past wounds to the angel's arm lead it to being brutalized to the point of uselessness!
[17:30] <Bryant_Wallace> "EAT IT FUCKER!!!!"
06[17:31] * Asa_Kennedy is enraged. He pulls out his rifle and fires at the angel maniacally.
08[17:35] <00@Siege> Firing true and without any Evangelions to hinder him, Asa's rounds are lodged straight into the Angel's chest and into a small glowing orb...which begins to crack in the creature's chest. An errant round strikes elsewhere in the body, but it was the small core that sends Shamshel into a rage.
08[17:46] <00@Siege> With a snap, the idle, twitching limbs on Shamshel's midsection clamp down over the core, and it's halo flares up in response...
08[17:47] <00@Siege> As this all is happening, a comms window opens. Remington's face is contorted in anger as he speaks to Asa and Bryant, and behind him several Section 2 guards are surrounding Nathaniel with Juan in the background. "What the hell are you two doing."
[17:48] <Bryant_Wallace> "Sir... Winning this war!"
