  3. I have my first patient that I have run a 23 and me test on, and I am attempting to treat her SNPs mutations. She has several homozygous and heterozygous mutations. I have prioritized my treatment approach based on Dr. Amy Yasko’s work, so I have begun with the CBS Upregulation ++ A360A, all other 3 variations are negative. So far this is what I have done:
  4.
  5. restricted all sulfur containing drugs, nutraceuticals and foods, particularly those high in “thiols”
  6.
  7. (used list from Amy Yasko document on www.heartfixer.com including info on thiol foods from www.livingnetwork.co.za/chelationnetwork/food/high-sulfur-sulphur-food-list/)
  8.
  9. Mb, 75mcg bid
  10. Boron 3 mg qd
  11. Vit E 400 IU qd
  12. Patient bought sulfur trips to start testing her sulfur in urine daily
  13. Restricted animal protein to dec. ammonia levels?
  14. Multivitaminmineral with methylated Bs, low dose P5P to avoid overstimulation of CBS
  15. Restricted glutamate rich foods
  16.
  17.
  18. Q: If patient only has one homozygouse mutation for this enzyme, how strict does the protocol have to be, ie. Do all of the above, or only select treatments based on patients symptoms e.g . if blood ammonia is not eleveated then do I need to worry about restricting animal protein? It makes sense to me to apply one thing at a time and see how patient responds, then try the next treatment and if any treatment makes no difference then drop that and move on to the next, kind of like ruling in and out treatment approaches based on patient response to determine the ultimate treatment protocol for the patient.
  19.
  20. Q: Dose patient also have to watch for sulphites, the preservative?
  21.
  22. Q: If patient is avoiding glutamate containing foods and nutraceuticals, then how strict does patient need to be with the nutraceuticals when it comes to binders and fillers such as: carrageenan, gelatin, guar gum, maltodextrin, natural flavors, vegetable gums – these are all considered excitotoxins/possible source of MSG?
  23.
  24. Q: my patient is a little overwhelmed with having to avoid so many foods – sulphur thiols, glutamates, no animal products, she feel s very limited. How to proceed with this, what is most important, it seems she is most sensitive to sulfur?
  25.
  26. Q: Dr. Yasko recommends BH4 supplement to help with MTHFR mutation and CBS upregulation mutation, what is this and where does one buy this?
  27.
  28. Q: So of the following websites for assessing raw genetic date and recommending supplement regimes, which one or two are the best and why? Its taking me hours to go through this stuff, help!
